Customers love the 3.9 Cu. Ft. 16-Cycle Top-Loading Washer for its quiet operation, excellent cleaning performance, and large capacity, making it easy to handle big loads of laundry. Many appreciate its ease of use and energy efficiency, along with its reasonable price. However, some users have reported issues with the agitator. The spacious tub size is also frequently praised.

Purchased this washer with very limited experience washing clothing. It serves my needs however, I really haven't had a chance to put the washer to the test on tough stains and large loads.

    unreliable makes a racket

Purchased this 8 weeks ago and now on the second maintenance call. There are internal straps attached to the drum. After four weeks, one of these was loose and strap was rapping loudly on the inside of the sheet metal on every agitation, driving us nuts. Geek Squad secured the strap but after two weeks it is making the same noise again. Geek Squad indicates that a thread was probably stripped in the assembly causing the strap to come loose, and now they are sending someone to replace the whole drum! Not impressed with GE appliances after this. Shoddy workmanship and poor quality control. Very disappointed. We are stuck with the purchase. Geek Squad has been helpful. Ironically, I may end up purchasing the extended service policy included in the GE documents, as I am thinking I may have purchased a lemon and that policy will really be needed.

    disappointed in GE

i had this machine, not even a yr and geek squad had to fix it twice after the spinner broke. The first time, they didn't put the hose back on tight and flooded my rugs, now the machine doesn't squeeze the water out the clothes and since they so called fixed it, not only is the spin cycle extremely loud pieces of something is chipping off the machine. I have to do the spin cycle three times As for the water levels, it's best to put every load on super or there's barely enough water to get them wet, never mind was them. When washing, the clothes are gently turned back and forth. i can hand wash better than that. I had a second hand GE machine for eight yrs before it started giving problems. GE should be ashamed of themselves and recall this defective product..

    Don't Waste Your Money

I purchased this machine 11/2012 and it was a big mistake. It takes ONE HOUR to do a load of wash, that's if the machine does what it is suppose to do. Anything with strings has to be put in a garment bag or they get tangled around the agitator. It will NOT wash my twin size comforters. You can't make a mistake choosing a wash cycle because you can't change cycles without the washer dumping the soap and water. It has a huge tub, but only fills 3/4 of the way to the top, if that. I now have to divide what use to be ONE load of wash into TWO loads of wash. I have to baby sit my machine to make sure it fills to the proper setting and goes through all of the cycles. I have had numerous problems with the machine since I purchased it. Sometimes it works fine and other times, it screws up. I made the mistake of going to GE's web site to check the reviews on this machine instead of searching for complaints online and checking other stores that sell this washer. My advice to consumers is to check "user manuals" and ask lots of questions before you purchase any appliance. In my opinion this is not a energy saving machine. I have wasted more soap, water and electricity to run this machine than I ever did with any of my older washers. Had I known how this machine worked, I would have invested the cost of a new machine into repairing my old machine.

    Don't Buy- excessive unfixable noise

I purchased this model (GE 3 9 cu ft Top Load Washer Model #: GTWN4250DWS) in Jan 2013 and it worked well for about 1 1/2 years. Then began the excessive vibration and terrible noise during all spin cycles, no matter the size of the load or the variety of items being washed. I called in the GE tech support on 15 Nov 2014 to address the problem at a cost of $100. He supposedly adjusted a "counter balance" and recommended that only items of similar nature be washed together. I have done this, but the nasty symptoms described above have NOT gone away. Maybe my GE product was a lemon among a batch of good GE products, but CAUTION STRONGLY ADVISED WITH THIS PRODUCT. I will now shop for a non-GW washer

This product auto fill malfunctions 40% of time and when it does and barely puts water in tub it wrings the clothes and has the potential of damage. On super water setting,a normal load of clothes is too much for this machine, any clothes on top just swish back and forth and the only reason they are wet is because of spinning when the tub is filling.Spin dry feature is the only thing that actually works well, cleaning clothes does not work well if you put over a small load with less than xlarge water capacity.this can all be seen by removing the magnet screws: and remove magnet then put screws half way back in: and place magnet on strip; with lid open .Government should not allow products like this on the market..This is not enegy efficient because you have to use super water capacity for medium loads and sometimes have to wash them again because of clothes just swooshing on top of water.

NOT YOUR MOTHERS WASHER, THATS FOR SURE. THIS MACHINE DOES NOT SEEM AS "HEAVY DUTY" AS PAST MACHINES WE'VE PURCHASED. WE BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE OF THE REVIEW RATING. WE DON'T PLAN TO KEEP THIS MACHINE LONG. PLANNING TO RETIRE ELSEWHERE & WE DO NOT WANT TO MOVE IT.

    Problem from the beginning.

This washer was a problem from the start. I told Best Buy, but it had been 3 weeks and they said I couldn't return it. It was noisy and the water fill never seemed right. The clothes never seem to rinse correctly. It just sprayed water to rinse. It became unbalanced and I called GE and they said I could following the video on-line for trouble shooting. I did. I followed their instructions 10 separate times. Apparently these washer have a balance problem and shut down. Water is sitting in the washer and won't drain or spin. I'm going to buy a new washer and it won't be GE. I had my Whirlpool for 16 years.

We bought this washer new, installed it, leveled it... ran the empty load as recommended with water only. Now, almost every load is out of balance when spinning (it spins very fast)... you can't do much about it except cancel the wash cycle and start over....The washer violently rumbles when spinning...We have had the repair service out 3 times, we were told that the wrong size springs were put on it by the factory??? After several attempts to get it fixed (they keep sending the wrong springs) we have had a new washer, we cannot use for 6 weeks! Really not sure how this can happen with a new washer.

    Save your Money

As a Quality Engineer by trade, this machine is only worth about $150.00. We had it one day, the machine makes grinding noise when the agitator is running, shakes the machine, more than likely the transmission is problematic and pooly designed. The pump sounds like it is about to give out. Our old Whirlpool we had for about 7 years and ran it every day with no problems, it finally gave out due to high use, so we bought this GE. We are taking it back for full refund. Do yourself a favor, save your money, dont buy this one.

Bought it two years ago, waiting for my third replacement. Worst part is GE has to repair the same issue 3 times before they replace it with the same inferior model. Every replacement different problems. First one shredded our sheets and clothes, second one stopped working after it filled up with water. Third hasn't arrived yet because I didn't call before 6 on Friday. Apparently GE's warranty is only valid Monday through Friday 8am-6pm. Thanks GE!

Hello bigred - this is Nancy at GE Appliances. We are sorry to hear that your washer is not working properly, and I am happy to help you. The washer will have periods of soakings when using the casuals cycles. If your washer is stopping and shutting down before the cycle is finished, then we recommend checking your hot and cold water to ensure they are turned on to the washer. If this does not help, we recommend contacting GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. Thanks for providing your feedback and for choosing GE Appliances! GE_Appliances

The spin cycle is extremely loud, it sounds like the machine is going to shake apart, this was a problem from the very first wash. Now, 5 months after I bought it, the washer gets stuck on the rinse cycle and will rinse and spin, rinse and spin, rinse and spin until I manually shut off the washer. The washer also chews up clothes and will leave holes in your garments. This is the worst washer I have ever used or owned.

Very disappointed. I've tried several laundry detergents Tide Pods, liquid and powder no good results. Every load has to be on extra large to get the water needed to half way clean clothes. Please I would not recommend to no one. I spoke with salesman at the store and he told me it was a great washer. I read the reviews and they looked find until I read the poor reviews and it is very true. DONOT BUY. I wish I could upgrade my washer. If someone know how I can upgrade please let me know.

I like to wash my clothes in a full tub of water. I don't want washers that try to was my clothes in a puddle of water. Not convince this makes my clothes clean, and adding HE is just adding concentrated soap. Taking it back after a day. Best buy is still the best!

I have returned two of these. The first leaked out of the bottom, the second one worked pretty well for almost two weeks then suddenly it wouldn't spin anymore and left me with soaking clothes and a washer full of water.
