Q: WATER LEVELS
A: Hi-this is Sue from GE. I am happy to assist you. Model GTWN4250DWS ENERGY STAR® qualified; therefore, it meets or exceeds federal guidelines for energy efficiency and provides year-round energy and money savings. This is a high-efficiency washing machine. This system requires less water while providing effective cleaning action. You may notice that the water level is lower than on your previous washer. This is normal. It features PreciseFill with the option of 5 water level selections. PreciseFill will automatically measure the load size and add just the right amount of water for the load. Or, you can manually choose from one of the 5 water level settings, Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large, or Super. Thanks for checking with us!
A: According to the manual the different modes produce different agitation movement. I don't think they increase speed but they do change the pattern and duration. I think agitating any faster could result in clothes getting stuck or twisted unnecessarily. For me, I set everything to "whites" mode and it does the best as a general setting - good agitation and faster spin speed.
A: Hi-this is Sue from GE. I am happy to address the concerns with your washer. Slow fill can result when the water pressure is too low. To check your water pressure, contact your water company. Try using the washer when no other water sources in the home are being used. If the washer is in the fill mode too long, it will stop. That is most likely why the light flashes and you have to hit the start button again to start the wash. Slow fill can also result from stopped up screens in the washer water valve. To check your screens: Unplug the washer from the wall outlet. Turn off the water at inlet faucets. Pull the washer away from the wall to allow enough room to get behind. Locate the hose connections on your washer, take a pair of slip-joint pliers and turn the metal hose connections counter clockwise to remove. Allow the hoses to hang into a bucket to catch water. Inside the fitting on the washer are the screens. Clean the screens. Metal screens need to be gently pried out with a small pocket screwdriver. Plastic screens can be pulled using a pair of long nosed pliers. In some instances, you may have to replace the screens, re-attach the hoses, turn the water on and check for leaks. Plug the washer into wall outlet. Slide the washer back into place. The washer will not start to fill with lid open on Auto Load sensing settings. If the electronics need to be reset, unplug the washer, wait 2 minutes, plug back in and press START. If the above suggestions do not correct the situations, service may be required. You can contact GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for checking with us!

Permanent Press-regular wash with periods of soak and a low speed spin. Speed Wash-normal wash with a high speed spin. Q: Does this machine allow you to soak a garment for as long as you want?
A: Hello, This is Joyce from GE. I will be happy to help. The Prewash cycle should be used for removing surface dirt from heavily soiled clothes. Make sure to reset the washer and choose your washer cycle selection when the Prewash cycle is complete. Note: The washer will not automatically continue into a regular cycle once the Prewash cycle is complete. You must reset the controls to the cycle you choose. The auto soak is approximately 30 minutes and then the washer goes into the cycle. If you want to soak your clothes overnight you would need to start the cycle, add detergent, let it fill and then press the start/pause button. As long as you come back to the unit within 24 hours this will work to soak your clothes. The washer will automatically drain after 24 hours. I hope this helps! Thanks so much for checking with us. Have a good day!
Q: How loud is this washing machine?
A: Hello Qguy - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. GE does not have a decibel rating on our washing machines. This washer uses the HydroWave wash, which is a very quiet agitator wash system. Sounds you may hear include a metallic clicking when the shifter mechanism is engaging or disengaging, back and forth swoosh during agitation, water flow changes during the fill, and humming or gurgling when the water drain pump is running, I hope this helps!
