I had to call them to find out. This model seems to heat up slower than earlier models, but I'm not sure, The electrical cord is too short.

Poorly Made

I've used both the grill plates and waffle ones. The "sear" doesn't seem to work. The top is loose and jiggles, the hinge is not tight. I would have returned it if my husband did not throw out the box.

Decent Size Super Easy to Clean and Transform

This one was on clearance at my best buy for $51.99 and was well worth the buy. The plates make it easy to clean and transform into the waffle maker. The unit itself heats just as fast as my previous one and the adjustable temperature is an upgrade from previous models. Down side is the angle of incline. In previous models the incline was greater, this one is slightly less but is adjustable for different cooking plates.

The Evolve grill is great since aside from the basic grilling and waffle functions. You can buy addition plates for baking, muffins, omelets, etc. Digital temperature control and sear button are also a bonus.
