    Nice Alternative to AppleTV

Those looking for a less expensive alternative to AppleTV, Chromecast is a great option. There are still a few bugs here and there, but overall it works like a charm and incredibly easy to set up. The 3rd party app list is growing which makes it much more useful as time goes on.

Easy plug and play - make sure your bandwidth is up for the challenge! This expands your watching choices big time! Hulu, HBOGo, and Showtime Anytime work just fine with Chromecast. Make sure your TV has an open HDMI slot and an electricity source (or USB) and you are good to go.

I decided to buy chromecast mainly for streaming movies. I enjoyed watching them on my tablet but thought how awesome it would be to watch them from my TV. Googleplay store has a HUGE assortment of new and old movies some are really cheap too. I like fact I can use my phone to control the movie. It was SUPER easy to set up.

This is such a nifty device. Simple to install, small size, not adding to clutter. This works so well, especially if you use a Chrome browser. Love watching YouTube vlogs and Netflix, all originating from your laptop, tablet and even your smart phone!

This review is for my second Chromecast. It is a great little device. Plugs into the HDMI port and gets power via a USB cable either plugged into the TV or intot the wall using the included wall adapter. I am primarily using it for Netflix and Plex. Setup is very easy and when used in conjunction with Plex or the Chrome browser, streaming your personal library content from your PC, laptop, or tablet is a breeze as well. I do sometimes have buffering issues when streaming 1080p content from my PC via Plex but unsure right now if the problem lies with Chromecast or Plex. Netflix continues to work like a champ. Highly recommended.

I am thinking of cutting my cable cord and bought this to start easing into it. It is quite easy to use so no hassles there. Also it was fairly unobtrusive so it does not add to the entertainment center bulk. For now I am in the testing phase and will start using it more.

Definitely recommend if you are looking for a simple way to ditch the HDMI cord and stream straight to your television. Easy setup. Very little lag, if any at all. Also, it does power itself if you plug it via USB into the tv so you can ditch the power cord.

I have a Samsung 40" Smart TV and I got the Chromecast for an Easter day $30 special even before I bought the TV! Even though I don't need a Chromecast for casting to the TV (Smart TVs usually suffice), I like having Chromecast because: 1. Personalization: My TV opens up to a random selection of my photos as well as images from Google+. 2. Guest mode: Guests can come over and add casts to the TV queue without connecting to my WiFi even. 3. Offers: Haven't really played with this yet but you are supposed to get good offers once in a while with the Chromecast. 4. Experimental tab casting: Easier to share content on Chrome to TV. There is a certain lag between PC and TV but not when operating completely on the TV, i.e. audio and video on TV are in sync. I have found that casting is better than playing off of the Smart apps on the TV because of better streaming quality and faster TV response to TV commands (TV gets slow while playing content on the smart apps). Casting is near instantaneous as well while I have to wait ~4 minutes for the "Getting TV ready" sign to go off on my TV. Worth the $30 or $35 I would say!

I have an early model flat screen and was concerned that powering the Chromecast and getting it into the confined HDMI area would be a problem, but it came with a separate power supply and an HDMI cable extension so installation was no problem at all. It works great and it's so small you don't have to find a place to put it.

Easy to use and understand. I use it to stream netflix to my TV that had a built in USB hub over wi-fi- works great and makes TV/Movie nights nice. Glad I made this purchase. Although did not receive my 20-30.00 credit from GOOGLE PLAY which was a special that had been running. I believe it had some issues being given out.

Googles Chromecast is a great accessory to use when u want to merge your world of media and be able to watch, listen and enjoy whatever music you want to hear or movie you want to watch streamed by whichever device you want to use. The Chromecast is extreamly affordable and is so easy to use once you get familiar w its operation.

Quick Setup; Good Start for Google

The Google Chromecast is making a big splash in terms of price for a new tech toy. However, it is little more than ripples in the pond when it comes to streaming media. I fully expect Google to bring more and better features to the Chromecast, but when and what is yet to be determined. The setup was very simple: Plug the Chromecast into my TV's HDMI port, plug in the power cable (USB) to power and device, download the Chromecast app to my Android phone. Once the app started running, it immediately found my Chromecast even though it was not setup on my wireless network yet. Next came the prompt for this, which was simple to fill in knowing my wireless network settings. Once this was done I automatically had the "Chromecast button" in YouTube, Chrome, and Netflix on my phone. I streamed a few YouTube videos for the kids and liked how quickly it streamed to the TV. There was a bit of a delay as the content switched between phone and TV, but once it was going it looked good. There is even a way of "queuing" videos so they play one right after the other. The only minor bug I see at this point, other than the lack of anything besides YouTube and Netflix, is that when you start building your queue, if you accidentally click off the Chromecast preview at the bottom there is no simple way of getting it back.

The cheapest way to turn a regular TV into a Smart TV. In my experience, this is better than a Roku. Pros: Easy setup, plenty of apps (more on the way), turns any TV into a smart TV, cheap, can cast Google Chrome tab on computer to Chromecast Cons: Casting computer screen is still in beta, was laggy last time I tried it.

I bought this on sale and was a great value for the money. It connected just fine and has the ability to add guest access so friends can come over and stream from their phones to the TV. It works just fine and would definitely recommend Chromecast if you're considering it. We use it with Netflix and it works excellent.

Extremely easy to setup and use on multiple devices/TVs. Bought this so we could view NetFlix on TVs without internet access or apps. Works great on treadmill with HD Television. Only downside is limitted apps and need to stream from another device (e.g. smart phone).

The Chromecast is great for upgrading your non smart tv. We uploaded our dvd collection to vudu and no longer need a dvd/blueray player instead we use this device to stream movies from our phones and tablets. I only wish it would also work off our phone data instead of only wifi so we could take it in our minivan.

A friend recommended this and I decided to try it. I was most pleased with the simplicity of this product. It was a simple matter of plugging it in and signing on. The only delay I had was the age of my TV. It doesn't have a USB port that I could find, so I had to add a power plug. The picture is clear and streams smoothly.

Google's streaming stick has been an instant hit and although it was rather limited at launch, the Chromecast has steadily improved, adding Hulu Plus, Pandora, Google Music, Plex, Vevo, and HBO Go, making it a basic, but competent streamer -- especially for the price.
