i love this device it is awesome, i have been recommending it to all my freind who like to come home and play music right off of there phone. Also it is great to stream movies and is a cheap alternative to sony or samsung players

This is a good cheap device for adding Netflix to a TV that doesn't have it. I like that I can search using my phone or computer, then send command to the TV. It works well for what it is. This does not turn a standard TV into a smart TV. I probably would have been better off buying a $75 Blur-ray player with streaming services. But this is nice and small and easy to move to another TV. I like the micros USB power cord as I have lots of these for various devices. So when I move this, I don't have to use a proprietary cable. 3.5 stars.

Best gadget buzz for $35 I've had for a long time! Easy setup, extremely good picture. It even worked with my old laptop that runs Vista, although there was a warning that came up about my opsys being lame and might not work.. Anyways, just get one. It works very well.

It does what it says, easy to use but I caution that it gets hot fast so limit its attachments to power and TV connection. If your TV isn't a smart TV this will substitute as the upcoverter to make it happen. Great product for kids room TV or cheap way around cable bill.

Easy set up on iPad and tv. Would give it five stars if there were more compatible aps. Would like to directly cast videos from Facebook. I find it amusing to cast a funny pic to a tv from another room to surprise my husband.

Super easy to set-up and use. Love that I can control other people's Chromecast as well in there homes with my phone. My family mainly uses it for Netflix and YouTube, but it is wonderful for Netflix series, because it goes to the next episode without being prompted.

Love the Chromecast so much that I bought 2 of them, one for my bedroom and living room tvs. Ability to stream from my Android devices, and my iPad. Can stream from popular apps such as HBO Go, Netflix, Epix and more. Great value and we'll worth the $ spent on them.

Chromecast is super straight forward and simple...that is what makes it great! I love the fact that it handles its own streaming between itslef and the router so that it doesnt depend on my mobile for constant streaming. It has turned my phone into a remote....love it!

I bought this on launch day and must say while the initial offering is limited this is a great device for the money. After slight confusion with the initial setup, the day to day operation is very simple. Just tap the Chromecast icon on the app you're using and operation is just like using the app on your device. Its a very inexpensive way to take a non internet connected TV and get a few services on it. For $35 it is an easy purchase to make and have around for those moments when you want to stream one of the limited number of services on offer. Not to mention you also have limited streaming ability with Chrome for desktop.

Pros - price, ability to cast personal content of device on large screen. Works well from chrome pc browser Cons - difficult to switch out of chromecast and back to cable mode, apps can be glitchy and need some work, locks up and needs to be reset occasionally. Would not suggest for the less tech savvy, other choices such as Roku 3 quicker, more user friendly and has remote. but triple the price. You do get what you pay for and it should be a one time purchase. Portability is great and I have not compared the Roku streaming stick which would be closer but still greater in price. No experience with Amazon Fire or Apple TV

I bought my first Chromecast for the living room and loved it so much I bought 2 more, one for my bedroom and another one for my little sister. I only wished that it worked better with iPhones, or that it had more apps.

very easy to set up and operate, Chromecast enables me to use my computer while still streaming to a TV, something that I am unale to do if using a HDMI cable hookup.

It took a few tries to get it setup, but it works now. Not all apps can be cast and the screen cast feature doesn't always work, but when it does, it is wonderful. Much better than the stock internet capabilities of my tv.

I have an apple TV but after buying some of these formy family I decided to give it a shot myself. Setting it up is really easy. It has step by step instructions on the provided app. Using it is a no brainer. You choose an app in your phone, click on an icon to stream to comcast (you don't use airplay for this one) and that's it. Although, make sure you understand how this device works. It doesn't actually stream the image from your phone to your tv. What your phone does is just send instructions to the chromecast so it can actually get he stream from the provider, and it serves as the remote control. Given this information, it's hard to use a VPN set up in your phone and then transfer the video to the chromecast. It won't work unless your chromecast is connected to the vpn too. What you can probably do is get one of those DNS services to unlock other providers that aren't available in your country.

The fact that this item came with the netflix promo code made buying this a no-brainer for the price. Setup is easy and netflix looks great on it but you'd better park it close to your wireless router as it has weak wi-fi reception. I had to buy a signal extender to get it to work without issues in the room I wanted to place it in. App support is limited to netflix, youtube, and google play movies. Hulu recently added support and hopefully more app support will come soon. If you plan on using this on the road, you'll be disappointed as it needs to have an internet connection to work and in several hotels the wi-fi just isn't sufficient due to securities set on the hotel wifi. If you have a hotspot then you're in great shape as you can use that as your access point. Another issue which is minor and more related to the netflix app than the dongle itself is, even though the movie is playing off the chromecast the netflix app still runs in the background. Sometimes the app will continue to run in the background even if you're not playing anything or even on the same network as the dongle and it will drain your mobile device's battery. I've made it a habit to force close the netflix app when I'm done with it for this very reason.

Great add to any home. Cost of three of these is the cost of one other streaming device. If you are an Android user, this is how you will want to stream and watch everything. Youtube/Netflix/Vudu/Hulu/etc. Screensaver images are interesting and great as well.

I have two of these and soon to purchase a third for my kids room. Stream movies or even display my desktop for presentations. Easy to setup and just about streaming anything, only thing I wish I was able to do is stream directly from my iPhone without an app.

Great little unit. Easy to setup. Streams HBOGO and Netflix well and of course any Google play selections. Works best within the same room but I do stream to the outdoors but I must prioritize the router for the Chromecast. All good and worth the small price.

For the price, this is a decent device, and has great potential. Our kids can use it with an iPad and watch Netflix on the big TV screen much more easily than with the PS3 interface that we would otherwise use. Had some problems with setup due to wireless extenders in the house, but I think I have it solved now. I wish it had the ability to draw power from the HDMI port itself (requires USB for power). Only works with a few apps for now, but fingers crossed that more compatible apps will be available in the near future.

Great purchase. This was very easy to use and install on my tv. It was also easy to move from TV to TV when needed. I still think the Apple TV is slightly better because you don't need a device to use it, but for the price, you can't beat the Chromecast!
