my biggest beef with chromecast is its' dependence on another device. would love to see a move to a remote ala amazon fire stick/roku stick. would also love to see the inclusion of a bare-bones browser to allow for bypassing the authentication page on hotel wifi. those gripes aside, it's great. for occasional use, it's got everything i'd want for entertainment. at $30 (had a $15 gift card to use), it can't be beat. also able to 'cast' from the computers, in addition to mobile devices if you are looking for something for daily use, and/or don't want to be tied to controlling it with your phone/tablet, you might want a different device. (speaking as an owner of a couple of the competitors as well).

Google's Chromecast is the perfect solution to making any high definition TV a smart TV. It was easy to set up and even easier to use. It also has a variety of apps partnered with it. All while not breaking the bank. Keep up the good work Google.

We have Apple TV and Chromecast and use Google's product more because the ease to link with our Apple devices is seamless. Also, at 1/3 of the price, we actually have two Chromecast in the house. Highly recommend for families and everyone.

This is the best companion for your Phone.... It use you house network to stream content from your phone to tv.... I love it... I stream everything with it... Netflix and hulu, personal video, music...... Everything from my phone without cable.

I love this device because I can simply play what I want on my phone and have it be thrown onto my TV. It's a one stop shop. Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, and more can be streamed through your phone directly to the TV. I truly recommend this product.

It's a great product to broadcast the contents from my tablet to TV. Hasn't ever crashed. It's also great to have multiple trusted devices on the same network that way other can share their content as well. Now, being as accessible $$ wise and portable it does have one issue/downside and it's that there is very few apps available to broadcast. And if you travel a lot this device won't work on hotel since there is an authentication(acknowledgment ) that needs to be done via browser.

This is a great product if you do not have a smart TV or a DVD/Blu Ray player that has wifi. Connection is simple and easy. I have bought this several times as gifts and everyone loves having the ability to get their netflix and hulu to the TV.

We were looking for a streaming device for our back porch. Didn't want to spend $100 on Roku 3, which is awesome by the way. Chromecast does the trick. Not perfect, but certainly acceptable. You have to "cast" programming from within each app (HBO Go, Netflix, etc.) which makes for something of a clunky interface and takes some getting used to. And sometimes after a while the Chromecast disconnects from your device. The only way I know to get around this is to reset (unplug and plug back in) the Chromecast. So not perfect. But for the price, a solid streaming device. If you're planning on using this in your living room for your main entertainment, I'd recommend paying the extra $ for the Roku 3.

Inexpensive, super easy to set-up, growing app collection for the device!

I have an Apple TV in my bedroom and was looking for something similar but cheaper for my kids rooms, this device fit the bill and I love it. I wish apps were on the device but regardless it is awesome

The current buzzword in silicon valley is 'delightful'; every company wants to make things that 'delight'. Well the Chromecast is the only product I know of that really fits the bill. The setup is fast, easy, and actually enjoyable. It is incredibly easy to stream content from your phone or tablet to the Chromecast. It just works so well, it makes the software in your 'smart TV' or your Roku or whatever look stone-age by comparison. The only downside to the Chromecast is that not every app supports it. Notable holdouts include Amazon and Comcast xFinity :(

wasn't what I expected but after I figured out how to cast content from Google Chrome browser to HDMI device I was pleasantly suprised for the one time price its a great value! Anything you can view in the browser you can cast to your device.

I purchased this specifically to watch Netflix and Netflix original programming. (House of Cards, Breaking Bad). I did not want to spend $100 to get a Roku. Chromecast is a a no brainer installation. You can stream from your computer to your tv, or from the Netflix app on your phone to your tv. At $35 is it a fantastic value. It also allows you to stream Youtube onto your tv. You can also take Chromecast with you i.e. on vacation, just plug into a hotel tv. I just wish Chromecast partners up with more companies that offer a free service and not a subscription.

I bought one on cyber Monday. And I loved it where I could watch movies off my computer and ipad. and simple to hook up and run right out of the box. So instead of keep on unplugging it from one tv to go to another. I bought another one Xmas eve and paid $28 for the second one. I paid $22 for the first one. The second one I got a code with it for $20 to use in the google play store. (only through BestBuy) So not a bad deal. It's great that I can just load up a movie and watch it on the big screen. I thought about getting the Amazon one but it wouldn't let me watch movies that i have downloaded. But the googlechromecast will not let me watch Amazon prime movies off there website which is a set back. So they all have there plus and minus to them. But I might buy a Amazon one to if they come down in price. So I can watch prime.

So far I have been pleasantly surprised by the east of use of the chromecast but a little disappointed in the amount of apps that make use of it. Hopefully this improves and then so will my rating.

Helps make casting your apps that on Android WAY easier. Even YouTube form iPhone. It's convenient for tvs with an HDMI port to spare. Neat and compact, worth a go if you use dlna in your house.

Wasn't sold at first, but being that I don't have a "smart TV," some features were missing from my home theater. This fills those gaps. Better $35 than $6000 for a newer TV. Seamless streaming from my S5, tablet and laptop. Awesome product.

If you don't have a tv subscription or if you mostly watch netflix, then this is a must have device! Also, watch documentaries and music videos on youtube. If it had apple music app and amazon prime video app it would have been perfect.

I read through instructions & the setup was quick & easy. I was watching Hulu plus in no time. My LG TV only has a USB port for service so I had to use the adapter for the HDMI port but that worked fine!

Simple setup, awesome quality streaming videos. I thought I'd never be streaming videos. Thought it was my internet. Turned out to that my Blu-Ray player just has a lousy streaming system. This has become my "recommend to everyone" gadget!!
