Turns any TV into a "Smart TV"
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The least expensive & easiest way to stream content from Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, YouTube, Google Play Movies and TV, and Google Play Music (plus more, I think) to any TV with an HDMI in. Super simple to set up & operate, but you DO need a decently fast wifi in your house. Cool because it's so small you can put it in your pocket & take it with you!

Using this more than Roku Stick
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Used this more for watching youtube, dramafever and viki than Roku. If you have a smartphone with you always then this is a good substitute. Also downloaded localcast app to cast local videos from my phone and from my local dlna devices. You can also cast your entire PC with sound using google cast from google chrome. Also used this on hotels to watch whatever i want from my phone just enabled wifi-hotspot from my phone and connect chromecast to my phone. It will be good if you have unlimited data.

Great way to extend content while saving money.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Chromecast to avoid buying another cable box for the bedroom. This way I'm able to leverage my current cable package (HBO, Starz, etc.) and broadcast from my phone. There is also a good number of supported apps for Chromecast. It's an added plus to use YouTube and Chrome - and send it to the TV as needed. Also comes with an HDMI extender. It was a life saver for my TV because without the extender, it wouldn't of worked due to being in such a tight spot. Definitely worth the $35.

Works well and easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even though Chromecast has been around for awhile, it is still a great product. It's easy to set up and use. It can cast the popular apps like Netflix and YouTube and I f you can get this for a good discount it'll be worth it. There are similar products that can do the same things and more, so if you're pondering if Chromecast is right for you, think of what you'd like to cast to your TV and how much you'd be willing to pay.

Cable TV is on its last legs...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review....but Internet TV is still in its infancy. This piece of hardware from Google lets us sample what's to come, but lacks the ease-of-use most might expect of the search giant. The Chromecast dongle cannot be used out of the box, such as a Roku. Instead, it relies on software from either your tablet, smartphone, or PC to find and control the streaming media. This is probably the biggest hurdle for most people, but if you are the type that is codependent on your smartphone then you're already carrying around the Chromecast remote. The hardware is surprisingly well-built. This thing feels solid, as if the hardware will long outlast the software. Included is a power cord that can draw power from your TV's USB port, or, if needed, can be plugged into a good old fashioned outlet. Perhaps your Chromecast dongle is having a hard time getting Wi-Fi behind the TV, or you feel the setup doesn't look hideous enough, also included is an HDMI extender to help protrude your dongle another few inches. Overall this product is well-made yet pretty darn affordable. I would recommend this to whomever wants a cheap setup to stream online content, so long as they're more the type that enjoys technological feats rather than curse computer quandaries.

Great media device for a great value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Google Chromecast is a great device that you can't beat for the price. I used to use my Xbox 360 to watch Netflix, but I didn't want to have to keep paying for Live when I don't use it for gaming and I didn't want to shell out the money for a smart DVD player since I can just use my Xbox. I had looked at the other options such as the Roku, but it was still more money than I wanted to spend. Then I saw the Chromecast and almost instantly decided to buy it, then I got an email with a student coupon to save $5 so I bought it. It's definitely been worth it. I watch Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube on it and sometimes listen to Pandora. The great thing about the ability to cast a tab is that you can watch Hulu on it for free without having a Hulu Plus account. I sometimes have some sync issues between the video and the audio, but I believe that is more of a internet connection issue than a device issue because my WiFi isn't the greatest. One feature that I love is that since I have the device powered from the power cable is that it will turn the TV on and change to the correct channel when I start casting or even connect to the device. I mainly use my Android phone as the remote, which works great. The only thing that I could complain about is that watching TV shows on Netflix can be a bit clunky because you have to start each episode instead of having the auto-play feature that the web and Xbox players have, but that is on the Netflix app itself not the Chromecast. The Chromecast does an excellent job of integrating with the supported apps. As soon as I connect to my WiFi the cast icon appears in whatever supported app I'm using. When I bought the device only 4 apps where supported and as of writing this it now supports 14 apps. I would recommend this device to anyone that wants a well designed media device that wants to watch web based media for a great price. I'll be buying another one for any addition TVs I get.

Really nice little gadget
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a bit skeptical about buying the chromecast due to the few apps that were available. I got a coupon for 10 dllrs off and I went ahead and bought and I do not regret it. It is really easy to setup and works great. Every once in a while the chromecast will lag a bit but it is very rare. With 1080p it will deliver with a beautiful picture.

Adds easy ways to stream to TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 3 of these, one for each TV in my home. You can send anything you see from a browser to the TV. If you have a tablet or smart phone, your apps have to be enabled to "cast" but if you have a computer and use the Chrome browser then you can see anything on your TV that you can see on your browser. Easy way to use the big screen of your TV as an external monitor and you can also stream all kinds of content. If you don't have a smart TV this can give your TV smart capability for a very low cost.

Great device!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the chromecast cause I not only can stream music and video from my phone but I can do the same through Google chrome on my pc when watching shows and movies from the internet.I also like that it can be synced to my photos through Google drive or if you have a Google+ account(I know no one really uses Google+) for the backdrop when your not streaming anything. Almost like the tv has its own screen saver. Highly recommend if you looking to stream video from pc,tablet or smartphone to your tv.

needs some work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product does a couple things very well, it streams content from your mobile device to a HDTV. It will also stream locally stored content if opened in your chrome browser and cast to your HDTV from there. If you're looking for a cheaper version of AppleTV, this is not it This is a good product if your expectations are in check. In relationship to the AppleTV, you are paying a third of the cost, but only receiving about 15-20% of the functionality.

Great device to get rid of wire clutter
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great device to get rid of the HDMI cord from the laptop or tablets. However some devices don't work very well with it. I have issues with the Verizon Tablet but the IPad works great. It is also very difficult to get a kindle to work with this device. Keep in mind you need to have a device such as a laptop or tablet to use this device.

An amazingly simple streaming device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my Chromecasts. I bought one on the announcement day, so I was one of the first to receive one. Then I liked it so much, I bought another for my bedroom. Then another for my daughter's bedroom. My TiVo in the living room also has casting capability, so nearly every TV in the house can be casted to. I will say that I do not use it everyday. However, whenever I need it to, it works flawlessly nearly every time. I can literally operate it in my sleep. More and more services are beginning to gain cast functionality (Netflix and VUDU are my favorites), and I am sure it is in the pipeline for many other companies. However, an issue for me is it still doesn't (and probably won't for the foreseeable future) have Amazon Instant Video. Which is becoming an issue for me since Amazon bought streaming rights from Netflix for many kids TV shows. One more note for the business user. We purchased and installed one of these in our board room at the office to use the screen casting functionality from Chrome. This works pretty well most of the time too (it is still in beta, technically). It is a pretty decent (and cheap) option for wireless display, which is a big push in our workplace.
