Its an amazing product, I just hope google expands the way this product can be used to further aid users. Currently I can mirror my chrome tab from my laptop or phone/tablet. Also bunch of supported apps can be mirrors. On thing I do want soon, is for chrome to support avi files so it can be run in the browser.

Using this with samsung tablet, should be easier to tap on screen to bring up casting icon. When leave plugged in the unit gets very warm. I disconnect it from the usb when not using as afraid would overheat if left on 24/7. Casting entire table screen to tv is not useful if you try to play games due to lag.

I love buying new gadgets but my wife never interested in any of them until she sees the Chromcast. She was so amazed of what a keychain size device can do for only $25(we got it on sale) We got it month ago, and have been using it almost everyday. Playing youtube videos and Netflix movies with it on a big screen makes everything more enjoyable. The quality is great and smooth and never lost connections. One thing I really like is that it draws power directly from the TV by connecting to the USB port of the TV, eliminated the need to run the power cord to an electrical outlet. This made the setup looks much cleaner. And no need to say that we can connect it wirelessly from all our devices (iphone, ipads, laptops).

I love this. I contemplated buying one for a very long time and finally broke down. No regrets. Very easy to connect and set up. Took no more than a few minutes to set up and configure as well as connecting 6 devices. Use it on almost a daily basis now and the wife and daughter love it too.

The Google Chrome is pretty cool. You do not need a separate box or remote, just a smart phone and a free HDMI on the TV. I like that it pre-loads so you do not have the re-buffering issue. The only issue that I have is that I did not realize that the power cord had to stay plugged in, and if your TV is on the wall as mine is the cord is to short to reach an outlet.

Easy to Set Up & Streaming Works Perfectly & The Family is Enjoying it!

I had a Chromecast in my living room and this purchase was an additional one for my bedroom. We don't have a Smart TV and it was MUCH cheaper to buy the Chromecasts than a new TV. With all of the functionality that the Chromecast offers and the opportunity to screen cast, I would definitely recommend this to anyone over the AppleTV or other products out there.

Unlike a Roku or Apple TV, this little doodad doesn't have it's own app-based ecosystem. You use it to allow your TV to receive media playing on your other devices, like a PC, smartphone, or tablet. In the past, I would move my laptop near the TV and hook a long HDMI cable to it in order to stream videos to my TV. Now, I just put something on Google Chrome and "cast" it to the TV. It works really well in all cases and I've never had a failure to connect quickly. There's no remote control, because you use the source device to control playback. I like that it can draw power straight from a USB power port on my TV, so I don't have to take up yet another plug on my power strip. I think it mainly works with Google Chrome on Macs/PCs and most of the major video smartphone/tablet apps have Chromecast capability, but not all.

Setup is pretty simple, my laptop isn't really up to the task once chrome was upgraded to allow it. Works pretty well though, picture quality is good, and operation is good from the right app. Great value

Purchased this for my non Samsung "Smart TV" that came out right before they all became "Smart." It does it's job in terms of allowing you to stream content to the TV directly. I thought it had more features or more application, but it was actually a bit more basic than I thought. Overall I do not regret purchasing.

We purchased this for my 8 year old to use at my office during holidays when he is bored. He loves that he can watch youtube videos on the tv. Not as easy to setup as AppleTV. But for the price, it was more in line with what I was willing to spend for him. I will definitely stick to AppleTV for myself at home.

While it's not their shortcoming but cable's monopoly, Chrome is an additional asset-- but does not replace subscriptions to cable. Does not allow cable except for selective streaming, which is sporadic. Some of us wish to cut the cord or find an alternative. Wish someone would invent a way to get CNN, for example.

The most important thing to realize is that it requires an open USB port to get power. If you don't have an open USB on your TV, don't bother with Chromecast. Since it only casts from certain software, it can be tricky to match the type of media you're streaming with the software that will stream it. I've found that, with enough tenacity, I can stream anything.

When I first heard of the Chromecast, it sounded like a good way to watch stuff like YouTube on the big screen, and at that price, if I was wrong, it would not be a big expense to find out. So I picked one up. I've been very pleased with it! It makes it super easy to watch YouTube, Netflix, etc. on the TV. Admittedly, I already had a number of devices that could do either of these, but getting that going is always such a slow and painful process. Opening the YT or NF app on my phone, or going to their site on my laptop, is quick and easy, and then telling it to play on the Chromecast instead is a snap. I've got two Chromecasts now and soon to be three.

Super Easy! Just plug it in and send things straight from your phone. The picture and everything is great. Just make sure you have enough HDMI ports so you don't have to swap it out often. Also helps to verify that if you have a sound system, make sure your TV has an audio out or else you won't be able to use the sound system. You would have to use the TV volume.
