Excellent idea, waiting for more compatible apps
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great idea from google. I like how it gets its own WIFI signal and not piggy-back off of your computer or other device. Easy to setup and use. HDMI so the quality will be great but it also depends on your WIFI strength and speed. Affordable, and after 2 months of using it, reliable. The only down side is the limited apps that are compatible but I am optimistic that other apps will soon jump on the bandwagon.

Awesome product, simple to set up & use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product does exactly what i needed. I have a TV in my office that I am unable to hook up to cable with no outlets so I bought this. I am able to easily stream tv, content and pictures from my computer directly to the TV. It has no lag and is very easy to set up and start using. I would recommend this product!

Great streaming device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced my daughter's Roku with this so she could cast from her laptop , and make use of the Chromcast apps on her tablet and phone. We had signal strength issues initially, but after buying a wi-fi extender set up was a breeze. She loves using her phone as the remote.

Seamless connection to iOS & Mac
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a lot of research and wanted an ultra portable Media device to take when traveling. I own the Apple TV and I love it! The Chromecast was the closest thing I could find in a small format that would provide all the features I was looking for including casting.

A cheap way to convert a TV to a Smart TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't need to spend the extra few hundred dollars on a TV with apps because of this device. I've found I can cast most all of my video apps, as well as most music apps. It plugs right into your hdmi port, and an outlet of course. Setup was a breeze through my WiFi.

Underestimated the usefulness
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided to purchase chromecast because me and my wife are getting rid of cable in our house. With that being said it works amazingly! Works great with our iPhones and the set up was a breeze. My wife who isn't very tech savvy, set it up without a hitch. When I got it I had to tell all my friends how much I loved it.

Not bad, not great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I already own Roku and Apple TV, and recently purchased Chromecast. I guess I'm looking for perfection. Overall I am disappointed with Chromecast. Yes, the device is easy to plug into the TV. Beyond that I don't see any advantage over Apple TV. I like the fact that I can "cast" from my computer, but Chromecast is picky about which computers and programs it casts from. Apple TV mirrors much more easily. Also, Chromecast makes you slow down any DVD you are casting -- and still has a chronic buffering problem. And as far as I've been able to discover there is no greater selection choice (at least for things that interest me) of Chromecast over Apple TV and Roku. None of these devices are are perfect. For me, "perfect" would be a simple plugin that would work equally well from any electronic device I happen to have (PC, Mac, IWhatever, Android), be very simple to program and connect, and no (repeat, **NO**) buffering.

Good for Google Chrome
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For an inexpensive way to project media from Google Chrome to your TV, Chromecast is an inexpensive solution. It runs slightly more than a HDMI cable, but it is easier to travel with than carrying cables.

Good Deal
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally got a great deal on this; it came with a $20 Google Play store credit. It became only a good deal when I didn't realize I had a very short time to use it and it had already expired. Still worth the money, makes it very easy to watch YouTube videos on the big screen using my phone to fine and control them.

Easy to use and works very well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was able to set it up in minutes and use it from my MacBook and my wife and kids' Android tablets. The kids love it for watching videos and sharing pictures, videos, etc. It's a great little gadget for a very reasonable price. I'm sure there's a lot more that we'll find to do with it after we've used it a bit longer.

Okay for Google users
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this chrome cast about a month again to play movies from my Mac to my tv . However I found it wasn't that easy . In order to do so you have to transfer it to YouTube or copy it onto google to play. Otherwise it might be easier if you are not a Mac user .

Great Device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is a great addition to any tv. Easily installed, just plug in to HDMI on tv and Sync your android phone or tablet, and you can cast anything onto your tv screen. No more copyright messages, can even play your google movies and tv, as well as Netflix etc.

Loving it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was on the fence about getting this for soooo long... Finally caved during the holidays and gave it a whirl. Pleasantly pleased overall. Aside from laggy video streaming, it runs like a champ. I think it was lagging b/c of my wifi so not necessarily a product issue.

Almost There
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The chrome cast is a GREAT idea at a GREAT price. Overall I am pretty happy with it, and it lets me do things I thought I would never be able to do. I have an older house that isn't wired with cable everywhere, so I haven't been able to put TVs in some of the rooms I wanted. With this + a Slingbox 350, I can put in a TV in any room in the house. It works pretty well, and picture quality is mostly excellent (the slingbox tends to struggle sometimes, but that is the slingboxes fault -- not the chromecast). My biggest complaint really comes down to controlling the thing. Google has some work to do here. You can control it with your phone or your computer, but both have issues. With my laptop, I am constantly struggling to get it to connect to the chromecast. Once the two are talking, Netflix is the only popular website with built-in chromecast support. You can still use others (Chrome lets you cast any tab, or even your whole desktop), but the built-in support provides a lot better experience and much less drain on your Computers resources. Controlling with the phone has its own issues. Starting up a show is fine, the issue is if you need to pause it, change episodes, etc. When the phone screen locks, the connection to the Chromecast is dropped. The chromecast will keep working, but when you need to control it again you have to reconnect through the app. This can be pretty annoying in-itself, but most apps have issues with this. On the Hulu app, 9 times out of 10 when I reconnect, it will then immediately disconnect from the chromecast and restart whatever episode I was watching from the beginning - on my phone instead of the chromecast. Then I have to kill the app and start over. Netflix tends to lose connection to the chromecast and won't let you reconnect unless you kill the app and start over. Overall I think it is definitely worth the price, I just hope Google keeps working on the control issues.

Great product, Great price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy to set up and use. Great for cord cutters. Inexpensive way to watch cast content from computer whether through a streaming service or content saved to computer. Can cast chrome browser as well as watch locally stored movies through chrome without setting up a media server. Works only with 2.4 Ghz.

Turn your TV into a UBER TV!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought one for myself after reading the rave reviews of what it could do. Netflix, YouTube, Google Video/Music... Then I bought a few more to give out as gifts. And then I bought a couple more for the house. Plex is also supported. The only way it could be better is if it supported Amazon Prime Instant Video...

Works great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There was a time when the Chromecast wasn't working great but I'm pretty sure it was the iPhone apps I was using. Once they got this bug worked out it's been the go-to device in our home. We even bought a second one for another room in the house. Really enjoy the functionality and ease of use from multiple devices.

Great Products for the Money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Chromecast is not perfect streaming device as sometimes I have had to come up with unique work around to stream things to my TV but have always found a solution. The price plus the ease of setup makes this totally worth it especially since I use it on 4 TVs so times 4 the other options get expensive fast.

Best way to transmit the internet to the TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Chromecast is a huge step forward for multimedia mirroring. Its very simple to set up and only requires a wi-fi connection. The mirroring function works extremely well with desktops and laptops, allowing you to cast anything that can be played or shown in a good chrome tab. There is also the option to cast the full desktop screen. The only flaw I can see right now is that with mobile devices casting is only available with a limited number of apps, such as Netflix and YouTube; however, for $35 there's really nothing you can complain about. I like it so much i've boughten three, one for each property.
