Great Great device for anyone looking to stream HD video from cell phones / tablets to TV. I have Samsung Galaxy Tab S, Samsung Galaxy S4 and LG-G3 phones from which I am able to stream video / photos on to the TV with ease. Streaming works even if you turn off the device from which streaming started.

I bought this for my parents recently to make it easier for them to watch Youtube and Netflix on their TV. They had been connecting their iPad to the TV using the HDMI adapter and an extra-long HDMI cable, which was not very convenient. The only issue I ran into was getting the Chromecast to connect to their network. It took longer than expected and a couple power-cycles of their modem and wireless router before the Chromecast finally started working. It's been flawless since then, and they told me the other day that they use it all the time. For the price, you really can't go wrong with this nifty little device, especially if you have a regular TV and want to make it a bit "smarter."

At first I thought the Chromecast connects to USB, but it turns out it connects to USB to get the power. It connects to the HDMI port (so make sure you have one) and then let's you stream from your phone, tablet, or PC. It can only work through Chromecast-enabled apps, which includes most Google properties like YouTube, and, with the Chromecast extension from Chrome browser, you can see websites or anything else you can access through Chrome. This of course is a bit limiting if you thought you were going to stream your VLC to your HDTV wirelessly. However, it does appear that the next release of VLC is going to support Chromecast, and there are plenty of other third party chome-compatible apps that are also designed to play back video, so it should fit most people's needs for a very low price.

I bought this as more of an experiment - a cheap toy to play with. I actually like it more than my Apple TV. Works great with the Plex app. Plus Google is alway introducing new offers and free things for Chromecast owners. I believe I have already gotten 1 free movie and $26 in Google Play credit!!!

Watched Netflix and set up my YouTube 80's group to randomly show old vidios and it was like having my own Wayback machine. I miss the old days when MTV used to show videos! Saving > $65.00 a month from cable bill...that's 780 bucks!

I was lucky enough to snag a Chromecast when they first came out. It was extremely easy to set up and I have been using it almost daily ever since. Prior to buying a Chromecast, I had purchased cables to be able to mirror my MacBook on my TV as well as the iPad 30-pin Digital AV Adapter to be able to stream video content on my TV. The Chromecast is a definite improvement to having to connect all of these cables to be able to watch video on my TV and stretching an HDMI cable across my coffee table to reach my computer. It is great to be able to start streaming Netflix but still be able to use my laptop, iPhone, or iPad while the video is playing. It is also nice to be able to start playing a Netflix video on my iPad but be able to control it and pause it using my computer or iPhone. I will say the one downside so far is casting tabs from Chrome. The video playback is incredibly slow and choppy and the audio doesn't match up with the video. I Googled solutions to this problem and have set the video tab playback to the lowest resolution and closed out other computer processes and it's still not very watchable. While the Chromecast is great to stream video through the approved apps such as YouTube and Netflix, it still lacks good quality when casting video through Chromecast tabs. Hopefully this is something Google will be improving with future software updates. However, for the $35 price, it's a great way to stream video on your TV!

Is a great device. I wish it could have had 5Ghz wifi instead of the crowded 2.4 but ... it works ok. Video quality is the best. With the comcast chrome extension does not work well, but it seems to be more a comcast issue (weird right?) rather than the device since all the other services work ok

I bought this for my friend's mom's birthday and it's way more convenient to use for her household of 5. Instead of logging into her Xbox every time she wants to watch Netflix, her and her family can cast Netflix and YouTube from their phones and tablets. It saves them about 3-5 minutes each.

Great for the price and easy to use - looking forward to new apps for it. Setup is simple and casting is easy, great for netflix and google movies.

I would definitely go for Roku over this if you only have the money for one. The only thing this does easier then Roku is cast your computer screen to TV. Roku probably does this as well or will soon. This doesn't have very many chromecast optimized sites/channels. When casting video from non optimized site the video isn't quite as good and has some stutters. It's good for those few sites that aren't available on Roku and you really want to see on the big screen even if the quality isn't great yet. The ability to cast is still in Beta so it may improve over time.

I'm not going to say bad things about the Chromecast. It has a lot of apps to choose from, the video quality is good. The only thing I didn't like about it was I needed to put all of the apps on my phone or tablet. I was looking for something to turn on, click on an app and view a program. I ended up purchasing a Roku 3. It was more of what I was looking for. If you don't mind using your phone or tablet to download your apps and control your TV, then the Chromecast is perfect for you. If you want apps on the device itself, then pick up a Roku.

I fell in love with this, the first time I bought it. After 3 more purchases, I can now cast in every room. I'm sure there are a lot of other streaming products but I'm going to stick with something I'm knowledgeable with. Everyone should have at least one of these in their house. Kudos Google

Wow so much into a little deice. I spend hours on other devices on trying to do a simply mirroring screen from other devices like my laptop and tablet and wasn't successful until I got this little thing. Set up took maybe less than two minutes and I was able to control it easily. Great JOB GOOGLE!

I Love being ab;e to cast what's on my la[top tp our tv. My only issues are the limited number of websites that have Link to Chrome. both Netflix & you tube do which is nice. It allows for Full Streaming. But other's that don;t come in much slower.

I bought a 16" Dynex TV for my restroom, and use this as my streaming device, its easy to use, user-friendly for all various types of devices. One thing I was unaware of, is that you do not need to have the app open for the app to be used, so you can continue texting, browsing the web, etc.

This product delivers exactly as it was intended as a Christmas gift. Netflix and Hulu are the main used apps and work as well as any other streaming option out there. The app download for tablets and phones as the remote is great and removes having yet another remote sitting on the coffee table.

Chromecast is a great addition to any tv. I have used several Chromcasts and love the ease of use. It makes controlling Netflix and YouTube extremely easy. Works with Slingbox too so no need to run cable wiring to watch your cable, just cast it.

I wanted one less bill. I work long hours. No cable was the best place to start. I did my online research and polled my co-workers. Chromecast was the way to go. Super easy to use. Plug it in; download an app and sit back to enjoy your favorite movies and shows on your own time! 'Best buy' ever!

Once you figure out how to use the dang thing it works like a charm. Just watch a few youtube videos on using it, or read a few articles. Only problem is that not all apps/programs/etc allow its use. Tried to cast a soccer game from the NBC sports extra app and couldn't. Can't win them all.

Love my Google Chromecast...I can switch from TV to YouTube or Netflix at anytime. Set-up was simple enough. Love that I can take it with me anywhere there is an HDTV. I can watch whatever I want, anytime, anywhere. I'm hoping that apps will be better or more thoroughly identified within the US.
