I'm comparing my usage to the Apple TV, which costs a lot more. Using an iPhone, I wasn't sure which apps would work with the Chromecast, but setup was a breeze. Then, after I looked around which apps would support it, it became very easy to use. Already bought one for my folks.

Getting the Google Chromecast was a decision made to replace my older computers broken HDMI port. My wife and I use the computer to stream movies from, after my HDMI port fried we needed something to broadcast and was happy to see the Chromecast come out. Setup was a snap, st plug it in and give it some power and let it do its thing. The only down side I have with it is the lag between the computer and the televisio, yes that is my only issue with it.. I am sure as the gets older new programs will come out. This is a great product and I am glad I purchased it.

This is a great device if you love connecting to Youtube or watching Youtube OR if your TV doesn't have the Netflix app but you have an account. The Chromecast is great! I'm not that tech savy but its so easy for me to show a Youtube video on my TV or watch a movie from Netflix.

This was an excellent purchase and set up was extremely easy. If you are like me and have given Time Warner and other cable providers the boot, then this is the best purchase for you to stream movies and shows to your tv from app such as Hulu, Netflix, and other online movies apps.

Bought the chromecast to stream movies from my smartphone to the tv. I have a Playstation 3 that I use for Netflix, Hulu, etc. So I might not be the best candidate for a review. Setup is easy and it cast the movies when I ask it to.

The google Chromecast really caught my attention. I always wanted something simple as plug and play. I use to stream lots of content from my PS3, Wii U, and Smart Phone. By doing this I've noticed that I am having to pay attention if it overheats, draining battery, and well having to worry about find the remote after forgetting were I have placed it The Chromecast, all I do is find the content I want to stream from my smart phone or tablet, press the cast icon and bang already streaming on my T.V. no worrying about over heating my consoles or loosing remote; oh yeah and not draining my phones battery. Its a great tech to make your T.V smart.

It's finicky at times, Netflix casting or Youtube casting will play audio only vs audio and video both...could lag at times. Screen Mirroring tho or Miracasting-like ability is phenomenal!! No lag perfect quality awesome screen mirroring.

Great tool for fun and fast entertainment! Easy to install great backgrounds and excellent performance. Two little flaws it must be plugged in to the power to function and gets hot.

Using the Chromecast is much better than using cables. I have three devices that used three different cables to stream to my TV. The devise has eliminated the hassle of physically disconnecting and reconnecting. Okay for the money spent.

I love the ease of using this with my tablet, vs. having to squint to read what appears on my TV guide. Access to more video providers is cool, too. The included extender helps with reception, but it is fine w/o it, too.

Was tired of watching YouTube videos and Netflix shows on my iPad. For 30.00 I can now cast these from the iPad to the big screen tv and have real sound. Opens up a whole new aspect for so many shows. Easy to hook up and works flawlessly

If you're in the market and on the fence- it's priced at a point where you really won't regret it. Casting from Chrome browser has made things a lot easier- whether its pictures, audio or video, iv been able to spend time with my family browsing through media effortlessly. Buy it!

If you are looking for a cheap and easy device to send media to your television, this is the gold standard, especially if you use an Android of iOS (Apple) devices. Most apps with streaming content have included the functionality to "cast" the videos/pictures/etc to your television.

Nice streaming for good price. Great for streaming all google products. It would be nice if it is compatable for video files streaming from laptop

I stopped paying for cable a year ago & use antennas and chromecast on my televisions. I save a ton of money and still watch tv shows and movies. I really like chromecast it's so easy to use with my tablet and I can use it anywhere.

I think the Chromecast is a pretty great little device overall. I think that depending on your situation. it could be a very useful device. If you do not own a Smart TV or a Roku box or some other device that is capable of letting you view YouTube, Netflix, Pandroa, Hulu, Plex on it, then go and get this device now (if you have a free HDMI port on your TV). If you have any of those devices, and don't care about broadcasting your Chrome web browser to your TV, skip it. That is literally the only feature it has that all the others do not. Another drawback is that if you are broadcasting from your phone or tablet or laptop and those devices run out of battery, you will not be able to use the Chromecast. It needs a device to give it the data and control it. There is no way for it to take the stream of data over, it has to go through your device. Another drawback is that it cannot connect to 5ghz WiFi networks. It only has 2.4ghz connection, which may or may not be a drawback for you. Overall I think the device works very well, and if the limitations do not bother you, het it is a pretty cheap little device. I think it would be great for plugiing in to a hotel TV while traveling and being able to stream my Plex content from my phone to the bigger TV. I hope version 2 is a little more unique in the marketplace.

The Chromecast is a great alternative to an Apple TV at a much cheaper price point. Granted it doesn't marry into the whole Apple Ecosystem the way an Apple TV does, but all you need is a chromecastable device and you can watch anything you want or surface the web from your TV.

The Chromecast works great. It is really easy to setup (about 5 min) and use. You'll need to download the tiny Chromecast app on your device to get streaming. They don't show you on the ads there is a cable for the Chromecast which you will need to plug into the adapter to connect to a plug or just directly to another USB port on your TV. I opted to just use the USB power from my TV because I don't like extra wires. The streaming quality was excellent, just waiting for more apps to become available now that Google has opened it up to more developers.

Wonderfully power and portable device. If you are an internet/subscription TV watcher (especially if you are an Android user) this is a must have device. Watch anytime any where! I don't know why it took me so long!

bought this for my daughter for christmas. She loves being able to see netflex on the tv. My husband and her are competing for it. Great buy.
