All you need to get started is a wireless internet connection, a computer with Chrome browser, or an Android or iOS device. If you don't have one of these things, then you're probably not living in the 21st century. Otherwise, this device is great, especially for Android users. There are lots of ways to get content, and most of the major streaming service providers (Netflix, HBO Go, Hulu Plus) are implementing Google Cast technology to allow users to view their content with the Chromecast. It's an affordable way to change your living room TV experience. And your remote control can be your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

I only give it a 4 stars because my ChromeCast is in Beta and we usually have to re-load content to get it to play. After it begins, there are usually no issues and we have very much enjoyed being able to stream content via Chromecast. A plus is Screen Mirroring for Android users, so content doesn't have to be Chromecast-compatible (i.e., have the icon) for it to be cast. It has revolutionized the way we watch TV!

I got into the store at 3:00 PM, twenty minutes after a delivery and got one of three. This thing is GREAT! I no longer have to drop my laptop next to my TV to have an extended screen. I can't tell you how long I've wanted something like this. $35 for a device like this is a small price to pay for a gadget that instantly doubles the AWESOME of anything it's attached to. (Laptop, Android Phone) When it becomes available, BUY IT! (Also, leave the poor sales people at Best Buy alone. Don't scream at them because they're out and can't put your name on a reservation list. You'll get one one day.)

The Chromecast is very cool. I have a Roku, streaming blu-ray player, and a smart TV and still have reasons to use my Chromecast. If you're only buying one streamer, I would get the Roku, but the Chromecast definitely has it's place (especially for the low cost). Chromecast is great at streaming what nothing else can. For example, MLB.TV only allowed portions of the playoffs to be streamed to laptops and mobile devices. So, I pulled up MLB.TV on my laptop in Chrome and used the Chromecast extension to cast it to the Chromecast. Then I was watching the playoff game on my 50" plasma. I also have some Google Play Movies/TV shows downloaded. There are very few options to watch these on your TV besides using Chromecast. I have an account through my library for Hoopla digital content. So, I can watch movies/TV shows on my phone/tablet. Or, with Chromecast I can watch them on my TV. That's much better! Chromecast is definitely worth the price!

I think everyone should own a Chromecast. It is literally the perfect device for watching nearly everything on the web. It's cheaper than most or all of the other options out there, and you can cast from any device. Cell phone, tablet, android, apple, ect. You can watch YouTube, Pandora, Netflix, Google Play, and more. If you are looking to get rid of your cable, then get a Chromecast. Granted sometimes the choices are a bit more limited than tv, but let's be honest, it's a one time cost, instead of a monthly bill, they are always adding more content every day, and there's never anything on tv anyways.

This just made smart tvs a waste of money. I recently bought a sony smart tv with all the bells and whistles. The picture is fantastics, the smart functions are ok. If you have a smart tv, think about the difference in speed between operating our smart tv and operating your phone/tablet/laptop. If the latter is much faster for looking up YouTube videos, Netflix, etc then you're going to love Chromecast. I stream Netflix, YouTube and HBO Go regularly with ease. However my favorite app to stream is Google Music. The full cover art is on the screen and it looks great. Being able to easy stream my music through my surround sound system is worth well over the $35 I paid for this thing (if you use Pandora that works very well too, but Google All Access Music blows Pandora out of the water). Being able to mirror my laptops Chrome browser is pretty awesome too. If you have a smart tv you know that the internet is terrible on all of them. Being able to mirror your laptop websites is night and day from using the tv. Also, when nothing is playing they still keep it classy by showing photos, turning the tv into a digital picture frame.

I recently bought a chromecast from best buy. Its the most simple product every and its easy to set up, and use! It displays beautiful backround pictures when idle.

Google just got it right with this one. Well, I mean, they've gotten a lot of things right, but this one's just on point. This device has revolutionized the viewing experience. No matter what device I'm on, if I'm just perusing through any of the video apps or websites on my computer (saved me from buying Hulu Plus), and I feel like watching something on the big screen, I just hit the cast button. And it's a high quality product at an incredible price, especially when you compare with all of the alternatives. I would argue this is more useful, convenient, and economical than Apple TV, Roku, etc and even, quite frankly, than the featured apps on smart TVs. Admittedly, my TV is a pre-smart era one, so I'm certainly feeling more of the benefits than I may have otherwise. That being said, it's still relatively new, and though I've had the device for almost year, there are still glitches and kinks to work out. However, the software is automatically updated fairly often and performance has only improved. Ultimately, it's a decent and affordable product and you'll easily make up for the cost within your first weekend of binge watching with it.

Love it, very cool!! I already have a 55" Sony smart TV, so I don't really need this, YET! Looking forward to developers making it so that you can stream ANY app to the ChromeCast! I simply bought this in anticipation! Also bought it at my local store as soon as they got in their shipment for the week, since this item is almost always sold out in stores and online. I tried it out when I got home with it, and it works perfect! Very awesome accessory to have at an incredibly low price!! I bought the HTC Media Link HD about 7 months ago, and it costs over $100!! Much more expensive and does basically the same thing with only a few extra features. Can't wait for ChromeCast development to begin! All 4 of my Android phones and both Android tablets are rooted, so I have no problems rooting, hacking, or whatever necessary to the ChromeCast so it can stream all apps in the future!! :-D

I love the Chrome Cast because of the easy access it provides viewing movies. I usually launch it from eithe iPad or iPhone to the TV with just s click of a button on my hand devices. The quality is good and it syncs with the surround sound so it makes movies night awesome. The only thing I don't like about this version is the size of the Chrome Cast. It's a bit hard to insert on to the hdmi port on the back of the tv. But after a few wiggles, it fit right in.

Chromecast is great for anyone who wants to view content to their TV.Makes any TV a smart TV and is also cross platform (android, apple, windows).

The Chromecast is similar to other streaming systems like the Roku, Fire TV, or even gaming consoles that have streaming services. The biggest differences are the price and the ease of use! The genius part of Chromecast is that it uses the intuitive nature of your phone to navigate your favorite streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, Hulu Plus, HBO GO, etc. You start the app on the phone and click the button to stream and "voila!" Only thing you need to confirm is if the streaming apps and phone you plan to use are compatible and you'll be up and running in no time!

This is an awesome product. It essentially turns any time with an HDMI input into a smart TV. Great picture and sound quality. We primarily use it to stream Netflix and Pandora. We also have a Roku in another room - for the money, the Chromecast takes the cake. Although the Roku has more channels, I prefer using the Chromecsast. Plus, it's only $35. How can you beat it?

This little dongle is going to change the landscape of how we stream to our TVs, it takes mere minutes to set up and just works. You can use it to easily stream YouTube, Netflix and Google play music and movies. It won't be long before others support it as well. Fantastic value.

I purchased this product because Roku costs about $100 and I wanted a similar product but at a lower price. First, Chromecast is simple to set up, just download the app, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS, and you will be ready in no time. Secondly, it is easier to view and share YouTube videos when company comes over and we can all view it on the TV than everyone huddling over a tablet or phone. Thirdly, when I was in the store to purchase my Chromecasts, I purchased 3 month HuluPlus gift card SKU 3232044 for my mother, but I redeemed it instead because her Internet is out. Third, since I bought two Chromecasts, the second is used in the kid's room and I can monitor what they are viewing because the Chromecast app can control more than one plugin. I am sure it can control three on one app because I will another purchase another one this week. I keep taking the kid's Chromecast when they are sleeping. Finally, this device comes in very handy when there is nothing on TV!!! Enjoy!

This is ideal for people who prefer small devices to plug into their TVs. Streaming is excellent from my iPad, no hiccups whatsoever.

Chromecast is a good way to stream youtube and apps like HBO Go but it needs more third party apps.

The Google Chromecast is a great device for everyone. It works well with my laptop, portable projector, and even my smartphones! I was a little skeptical at first because I'm use to having a Blu Ray, but this device worked with my smartphone...Amazing. This little device is also great for someone who likes to share funny videos with friends and family. Just plug it into your TV or projector and now all can view what you want to share. But of course remember that you need a WiFi connection. Thumbs up overall

I purchased this for my daughter who likes to watch videos on her phone while in the kitchen. I had some trouble setting it up, not sure if my shady comcast wireless was the cause of the problem, however once I used a different device (1st Phone was Verizon S3, 2nd Phone Sprint S3) I was able to get it up and running. Using it is a breeze! I open Netflix on my tablet, tap the little TV icon and like magic I am watching Netflix in the kitchen while I am cooking. It is pretty seamless and fast.

Easy set up, decent price. I know there is a Chromecast 2 coming out but for what I use, this Chromecast is all I need.
