This requires a phone, tablet or PC too operate and it does not come with a remote. That being said it works like a charm. It seamlessly casts from your phone and is great for showing friends your photos on your phone.

I use it at my work. Instead of running 30’ of tripping-over HDMI cable across open floor, I opted to look for a wireless solution. AppleTV? Roku? Google? A host of “cheaper” products from China? I went with the Chromecast Ultra, because it has an option for 4K streaming, and was only 1/3 of the cost of a comparable AppleTV, and though Roku is big it isn’t Google. Easy hook-up, easy pairing with devices, great transfer of video, and I can use multiple devices to control apps like Spotify and YouTube.

I wanted to push videos to my 4K TV. This device allows me to do that on the fly. The TV is upstairs in our bonus room. The 4K laptop activates the device and turns the TV on. We just go watch it... in 4K.
Love it!

A useful product to cast and control TV shows, movies, music and more from your mobile, laptop, tablets etc. Play, pause, change programs directly from your mobile device, no need of TV remote anymore. Best part is, it connects with Google Home so you can control TV even with voice commands. “Hey Google, switch ON my living room TV” as simple as that.
Got the Ultra version in very good price $49 in Thanksgiving Deal. Ultra is better than the regular as more speed, better quality and connects with hardwire LAN as well.

I had the initial Chromecast device and was pleased with it but was blown away with the Ultra. It makes everything we cast so much better and a lot like blue ray/4K even without a 4K TV. Very happy with my purchase.

Upgrade from Chromecast

This was an upgrade from a Chromecast that was previously installed with an Android platform. Pretty seamless install but you need to install Google Home on your phone to make this work. Used the old USB cable and the Chromecast displayed that it didn't like that so I installed the power supply with the Ethernet cable as well. Worked good but I don't like that the audio showed 2 channel stereo instead of Dolby 5.1 as it should while watching a movie. Seems to cast faster than the old one. If anyone knows how to fix the audio problem please reply. It's the only problem I can see with this.

Casting from my Phone, Tablet or Laptop is so great. I have enjoyed watching movies that I can stream without interruption, no commercials. I have two devices, one on my Living room TV, and one on my bedroom TV.

I was expecting this product to have a menu like most plug-ins have. It really only has the capability to stream from another device. Once connected and streaming, it has good quality. Also have the google home which is nice to be able to speak to the tv.

Chromecast Ultra works well.

The Chromecast Ultra fit well into my home network. The setup was easy. This network includes a Drobo-5N, Google Home, several IPads, and iPhones, a MacBook Pro, a Hackintosh, and a Smart Things hub, a Sonos system, and is attached to our 60" Visio TV in the living room.. I can cast from any device in the house. The video is sharp, and the sound over the Sonos sound bar, sub and two Sonos 3 speakers is all that could be desired. I can play movies from my Droboas well as music. All in all I'm happy.

I purchased this for use with new 4k TV in my home. I had previously been using a regular chromecast, and while it functioned perfectly, I wanted to go ahead and get the Ultra for the 4k for any future use. I functionality works just as well as the regular Chromecast, and the little bit of content that I have found to cast in 4k looks great. If you have a 4k TV, it's worth getting the Ultra just to save yourself money in the future when 4k content is more prevalent.

The Chromecast Ultra was easy to use right out of the box. If you have 4K, the slightly more expensive Ultra is a must. I needed this item in order to watch an unreleased foreign film that was only available through an internet link. The 4K quality was extraordinary. It also works with the more common video sites like YouTube and VEVO. The only con has probably more to do with availability of other links that work with Chromecast, not the device itself. I also like that I can use it on more than one device in my home. Overall, I’m happy with this product.

Best Streaming Dongle

This is my 4th Chromecast I've owned. #2 1st gen & #1 2nd gen and now the 3rd gen 4k device. Simple to use passes 4k/60p/HDR signals very fast almost no waiting on loading. Dual band Wi-Fi or you can go with the wired way by plugging your ethernet into the plug adapter. The Chromecast 4k dongle that comes from BestBuy comes with the ethernet plug adapter where other places only sell you the ac adapter and then charge $15 for the ethernet adapter. I highly recommend this device.

I had the 1st gen for awhile now and it felt like it was slowing down. Upgraded to the ultra for my 4k tv and i say its a good upgrade with the 4k hdr compatibility and speed but not the best due to its price. Would wait till it goes down $20

If you purchase 4K content from the Google Play store the Chromecast Ultra is one of the few devices that will allow you to stream in 4k, otherwise your stuck with HD or SD quality depending on the device.
I upgraded to the Chromecast Ultra after my original Chromecast (gen 1) finally failed after many years of use and abuse being moved around from TV to TV. Comparing this to the original, the use and interface is exactly the same. With 4k streaming content being particular as far as what can be viewed on which device from 'X' service I am happy to report that I have been able to watch 4k content from Netflix and Vudu. When comparing 1080 (HD) to 4K (UHD) streaming content, it was difficult to notice major changes in the quality of the picture, although there was an improvement. Some awesome added features are the functionality with the Google Smart Home now being able to show you some limited visual responses and a bit more snappy response from the device itself. I like the fact that the Chromecast offers an ethernet port to allow for faster and more stable internet connection by being hard-wired.
If you own digital 4k content from Google, Vudu or have a premium Netflix account this is definitely a viable choice. I would not recommend this to the average user simply looking just to stream, additionally with the device frequently going on sale I believe its sale price is more fitting for this devices actual worth. Being extremely satisfied with my original Chromecast this was an easy purchase when I got it on sale.
(It's also worth noting that any Chromecast has the ability to turn On and Off (modern) TV's with the Google Home, one of its best features)
