Customers regard the Pixel 7a 5G 128GB (Unlocked) highly for its excellent camera quality, impressive battery life, and ease of use. Many appreciate the screen size and find it offers great value for the price. While some users miss the headphone jack and note occasional heating issues, the positive feedback on the camera and overall performance outweighs these concerns. The Little Mac of Smartphones

At $375, you'd be hard to pressed to find a better phone. My previous phone was a $1,300 Sony Xperia 1 III. It punches WAY above it's weight, with flagship performance and low to mid entry level price. Performance is smooth - older games run beautifully, and the cleanest version of Android you can get means very little background resources being leeched. The OLED display is fantastic, very crisp with vivid colors. My Sony Xperia 1 III had a 4K 120hz OLED panel, and I barely notice a difference. 128GB of storage may not seem like much (I dropping down from 1.25TB...) But after some time I've realized it'll be quite long before that becomes an issue. Coming from a $1,300 enthusiast phone, the camera has left me floored. The software assisted photos go toe to toe with the photos I took for with my old phone. You absolutely will not find a better camera phone at this price. It likely beats many flagships. Battery life has been decent - not perfect, more than serviceable. I can get through the whole day without needing to touch power save mode, even with the 90hz refresh rate on. The phone is also quite compact, it's very pocketable and I'm quite pleased to have taken a step back in size for a phone that's easier to handle. All in all, this phone is phenomenal. It goes toe to toe with phones $1,000 more expensive, and I wish I would have looked into the Pixel A series sooner. The sale ends on 2/24, and at $375, this is absolutely the best value on the Android market right now.

Purchased this as a Christmas gift for a relative who had the Pixel 3a for a long time and finally needed an upgrade. I've also had the 3a since 2019. He says this phone is easy to use and has a lot of storage space. It has the same setup us the previous models, so there wasn't a huge learning process to use it. It takes a while to charge, but then the battery lasts way longer. This was an issue he was experiencing with his previous phone, so he's happy that the new phone's battery lasts all day. The camera quality is excellent. I notice a lot of photographers gravitate towards Pixels. I think Pixels are great for both personal and business use. It's basically a tiny computer. I might buy one for myself or the newest 8 model later on, but my 3a still works fine. Google makes good phones.

Google Pixel 7a Review - This is the Way

    Posted .

I have posted a video review on Youtube with the same title (Google Pixel 7a Review - This is the Way), if you're interested. Otherwise, below is my written review of the Google Pixel 7a. I purchased the coral model from the Google Store and have owned it for two weeks now. Let’s look at what the Google 7a gives you for your $499. Firstly, the display is gorgeous. It’s a 6.1” OLED display with an aspect ratio of 9:20, which is awesome. It’s a tall, narrow screen allowing for more of your social media feed to be displayed or a wider field of view when gaming. It’s also idea for watching movies, given the widescreen standard movies are shot in. The refresh rate is 90hz (must be activated in the display settings), which is wonderful to see at this price point. Hopefully this encourages Apple and Samsung to include high-refresh rate displays on their entry-level phones in the near future. We’re at a point where this should be a standard. It not only benefits while gaming, but general scrolling and swiping too. Once you use a high-refresh display for an extended period of time and then revert to a normal 60hz display, you’ll feel what I mean. It’s sluggish in comparison. One last thing on the display. The OLED panel is an HDR-enabled, color-accurate and absolutely stunning! The blacks are inky-black, which make colors really pop and allows for excellent contrast. Shadow detail is great and some minor degradation is seen when viewing off-axis. In terms of design, the display does have some noticeable bezels, and while I think they’re not offensive, especially given the price-point, they do surround the entire display, making the Pixel 7a appear less attractive. Another eye-sore is the hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera. Most applications aggregate the cutout within the menu bar, which disguises it nicely, however it blatantly gets in the way while gaming or watching movies in full-screen. In terms of functionality the front-facing camera is another strength for the Pixel 7a. It’s a 13mp ultrawide camera and it takes exceptional selfies. The rear camera also contains a 13mp ultrawide lens in conjunction with the 64mp wide lens and together they take stunning images. Colors are reproduced faithfully, although it does lean slightly on the cooler side. The extraction of detail is impressive, especially at this pricepoint, and it’s glaringly obvious when viewing pictures on the display. Everything in focus is razor sharp while the background gets blurred to create a nice bokeh effect. Low light and nighttime photography is improved with nightsight, although it would be nice for the camera software to detect a low-light situation and automatically enable it, rather than manually thumbing over to the nightsight option. These few seconds are crucial in determining whether you get the desired shot or miss it entirely and at times, I found myself not attaining the shot because of it. Battery life for me was okay. Not great, just okay. It would last my entire work day with moderate use, but I was usually running for the charger when I got home. And recharging the Pixel 7a isn’t entirely a speedy process either, despite it having rapid charging. Going from zero percent to fully charged usually takes 92 minutes. A few last notes on the pixel 7a… It has the latest bluetooth and wireless standards with LDAC support, which is awesome for the wireless audiophiles out there. In terms of security, the Pixel 7a has a bevy of sign-in options including face unlock as well as a built-in fingerprint reader in the screen. They both are extremely fast too. There were many times where I would wait an extra second, not realizing I was already “into” my phone. It’s pretty awesome tech. The built-in fingerprint reader has a bright led light behind it that acts as a spotlight on your finger when you place it on the screen and I think that allows it to be even more accurate, rather than relying on the screen display. The fingerprint reader worked when my hands were wet or dirty as well, which is always helpful, because, lets be honest, our hands are one-hundred percent clean all the time. Lastly, I wanted to cover the build-quality of the Pixel 7a. It is excellent and feels fairly premium, despite not being forged from premium materials. This is one of the biggest differences between the Pixel 7a and Pixel 7/pro. The latter are crafted from aluminum and possess gorilla glass while the Pixel 7a’s body is crafted from a metal alloy while the back is a composite material. Again, a little less premium, but the feel in the hand makes it feel as such. Despite not having a glass back, the Pixel 7a does include wireless charging. It’s not fast wireless charging, and it takes nearly 150 minutes to recharge. Overall, the Pixel 7a is the best representation of an entry-level, budget phone. It is the new benchmark for a smartphone under $500. The superb cameras, delicious OLED, 90hz display, beautiful sounding stereo speakers and the G2 tensor processor make this an absolute budget powerhouse. I highly recommend the Pixel 7a.

Bought Open Box phone sold as being in EXCELLENT condition. Drove 80 miles each way to pick it up. It had two scratches on it. Manager looked at it, agreed not in excellent condition. Geeks looked at it, said it works perfectly. What did the store do about it? NOTHING. Told me to call the corporate number. I then discovered the phones battery is TWO YEARS OLD and has been charged over 220 times. SOMEONE USED THIS PHONE FOR TWO YEARS AND BEST BUY REFURBISHED IT AND SOLD IT AS OPEN BOX IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. Corporate said I could return it.

    Not Quite Good Enough

I like everything about this phone as a more reasonably priced alternative to a Samsung or Apple equivalent - EXCEPT for one very important feature (at least for me) it lacks. I researched the Pixel 6, 7 and 7a extensively and eventually settle on the middle-of-the-road 7a. It is slightly better than the 6 and the technology differences with the 7 did not bother me, or so I thought. The major difference with the 7a relative to the 6, 7 and 7 pro is that the 7a DOES NOT support simultaneous use of Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Hotspot. This is a very important lacking that should be pointed out in all of the lovely specifications Google wants to throw at you about these phones. This fact was not mentioned in any of the Google reviews I looked at. This is a feature I occasionally use in my home as a work-around to a router issue with one of my computers. The computer would not stay directly connected to the router but it would to the Hotspot. Go figure! So the first time I use this work-around, the phone notifies me I have used 2GB of my mobile data (I do not pay the extravagant fees for an unlimited plan). That is when I verify that when I turn-on Wi-Fi on the Google PIxel 7a, it turns off the Hotspot. And when I turn on the Hotspot, it turns off the Wi-Fi. Again, go figure. The Pixel 7a has a Wi-Fi Hotspot feature that does not REALLY allow you to share a Wi-Fi connection. All it allows you to do is chew through your mobile data even faster!! After further online searches for this specific issue, I now know this is a hardware limitation specific to the 7a and there is no way around it. Now after reading this review, you also know. If a true shared Wi-Fi Hotspot is an important feature for you, the Google Pixel 7a is not the choice for you.

Sold my Pixel 7, and switched to the 7a. Just as fast, screen is just as smooth with the 90hz, speakers sound better and the size is perfect. Theres really no negative that i can tell as far as choosing the 7a over the 7. The back is plastic according to reviews, but if i hadnt read it first, I wouldnt of been able to tell based off on-hand feel. Very happy with the device.

Pixel 7a has one of the best camera in this price range. The phone has a high refresh rate and a pretty display upgraded from pixel 6a. The processor tensor 2 chip works very well. This phone works globally at any network very well. Plus, It's a stealing deal with 350 $ for this amazing phone.

I've owned Pixels since back when they came out with the Pixel 2XL. The 7a is fantastic. Fast, great display/sound, and as an avid photographer, still the best camera you can find in a cell phone (the hardware has been significantly upgraded in the 7a, though I've read it's debatable how much difference this actually makes in end-result photo output). No phone is perfect, but this one comes about as close as I've seen - and picking it up on sale for $375 made the choice to move up from my 6a pretty much a no-brainer. Highly recommended.

I am the proud owner of a pixel 4a, and before that an original pixel XL. I am quite impressed with Google phones as a whole. There have been glitches in the past with pixel phones, but Goog almighty send to have them worked out. I am thoroughly impressed with the pure android experience. All my phone's have been unlocked so i don't have to deal with all bloat ware usually installed on phones locked to a specific carrier. My pixels have given me the best experience with the camera and it's photo processing software. Now that the pixel has the Tensor series chips, that seems to be allowing Google to fix and or update these phones quickly.

Solid phone. Replacing a Galaxy S10+. Slightly smaller but has all the necessary functionality and cheaper and better value compared to a Galaxy S22/23. Didn't see the need to pay more for a Pixel 7. 7a meets all the needs. Disappointed it does not have a memory expansion slot and does not come with a charger. It only comes with a pin to open the SIM card slot and a USB-C cable. Disappointed with battery life. Definitely need to charge daily and I'm only checking emails and sending text. No video, gaming, or other CPU intensive activities.

Purchased this for my wife to replace her Google Pixel 4xl. We have definitely become a pixel family. Over the last few years we have fallen in love with the Pixel line. They just keep getting better each year, especially the cameras. We do a lot of social media posts to log out weekend adventures and vacations and we get so many compliments on the quality and composition of our photos. Thank you Google... Keep em coming!

This phone has great software, awesome cameras and nice screen. The battery life isnt great but i can make it through early evening on a charge (I'm a heavy user). I'm coming from a Galaxy S22 Ultra which is a fantastic phone. This phone is just as thick. The wireless charging is slow so i only use it overnight. For the price you're getting an awesome camera. Nothing slows down this phone.
