Customers frequently mention the ease of use, excellent coverage, and straightforward setup of the Google Wifi AC1200 system. Many also praise the improved signal strength and extended range, resulting in better overall performance. While some users experienced connectivity challenges, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs these concerns. A few customers noted the system's higher price point.

After over 5 Technical Support calls for hours on end and going down very often I've decided to return Google WiFi.....This is the worst WiFi item I've ever owned in 25 years!

Never got to determine the quality of the product in use as we couldn’t install it. Instructions-both printed and online-were useless. The install app is equally useless. No troubleshooting available.

This product hasnt worked well with my modem since purchasing. I have changed out modems, had my modem provisioned as suggested by google. At least twice a week my service has to be reset by my carrier. Without modem works properly. With mesh it works occasionally.

I was looking to create a mesh network for my new addition as the current router signal was weak. While this did offer some relief, the network was still spotty. I discovered my ISP offered their own pods for a mesh network and they have worked much better.

After just a couple weeks, one wifi point completely stopped working. I tried everything that was recommended but to no avail. I did not see any difference in my internet speeds. Do not waste your money.

This is an amazing product that I fell in love with as soon as opening the box. The looks are amazing and the units do not look out of place no matter where you place them (no need to hide them unlike more traditional, boxy wi-fi routers). I am using all 3 units in a 2 story, 4300 sq. ft. house, and I have had no issues getting signal throughout the whole house, including the garage (which has been a big issue previously). I've used more traditional higher priced wi-fi routers that have struggled to cover even half of my house even though their advertised range is farther than I actually need, but the option of scattering these units throughout the house makes it so that signal is not an issue no matter where I am. I have noticed no significant differences in speed, and moving throughout the house there is no indication that I am moving from one point to another.
All in all I cannot express how happy I am with this router, it is an amazing product that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for good home wi-fi.

I cannot in good conscience recommend a router slower than my previous 5 year old Apple Airport router. The range on this is not good and buying more of them solves nothing. Get a top end router and forget this stuff.

If you play games and/or your connection speed is more than 200 do not buy this. I have been using it from almost 2 years and gave it the benefit of the doubt but no go. I will be buy something else.

The best whole house coverage

Seamless coverage of our whole. In the past I needed a router with a repeater and still had dead sports. We have 100 mbps coming into our house and most places the Wi-Fi tests at around 96. It will take a lot for me to ever even consider a different system.

I returned these after about a week. I changed to a different internet provider and I thought these would be great. My son’s game would still buffer continuously. I changed to a different router and it stopped.

Didn’t really like the coverage. Set up was easy but didn’t quite give me the coverage I was looking for I do own a larger home over 4000 ft.². I would recommend something hardwired for my type of install.

Love the sleek simple look of these devices. Setup was a breeze. I had all 3 units setup and connected to my network within 15 minutes. I'm finally able to see what having fast internet is really like!
I have a 4500 sq ft house and we do a lot of hosting in the backyard and I need my wifi to extend back there as well, so I bought a 4 unit just to be safe. Lucky for me I didn't even need it. 3 units were more than enough to cover my entire house and my backyard! Really happy with my purchase so far.

Excellent Mesh Wifi

I purchased this after returning a competitor's solution and have 20+ years experience in the tech industry. No, I'm not a Google employee. : )
The mobile app interface is intuitive and setup was extremely easy. A wired connection to each node can be used instead of WiFi. With these devices, I've covered a 5000 ft^2 home and all devices have enough bandwidth to stream 4K over WiFi.
The mobile app is great. The setup via the app is easy for a novice user. Once the mesh is up, the app provides tools and views that allow you monitor and diagnose network issues. The tools available in the app are as good as you can get in this price range. As a matter of fact, I used the app to diagnose an issue with my Internet provider that has since been fixed. You can customize device labels to better identify them on the network and see network usage by device in real time. The app just provides a lot of network insights that were previously unavailable to me.
I'm a purist when it comes to networking and feel that an access point should use Ethernet instead of WiFi for it's uplink and the mesh itself. WiFi signals degrade significantly as distance increases when compared to Ethernet and my house is already wired for Ethernet. I realize that some may not be able to take advantage of hardwired nodes.
The performance is amazing. Using speedtest.net (not my provider's speed test), I can push and pull 400 mbps in the same room (or good line of sight) over Wifi using my iPhone. Previously, I was pushing and pulling around 80mbps on the same device using another solution. Devices that are wired and go through the primary node can push and pull around 800 mbps. Ethernet throughput through the node\s has not diminished. Ping times are in the single digit milliseconds regardless of wireless or wired. I did not test where the throughput and latency falls off with respect to WiFi range because coverage is good.
I hope this helps folks...

Best WIFI Extender I've Encountered So Far

Setting up the Wifi system is done through Google’s new Wifi app for iOS and Android (formerly the OnHub app). The app walks you through setting up a new network, naming it, securing it with a password, and placing the Wifi units throughout your home. It also lets you check your network speeds, from both your ISP to the modem and from Google Wifi to your device, and the strength of signal between each node. Google’s Network Assist feature will provide tips on how to improve performance by moving a unit to a different location or will tell you when the internet from your ISP is not functioning.
In addition, the app lets you see how many devices are connected to your network, pause Wi-Fi on specific devices, prioritize others, and easily create a guest network. It also has very basic smart home features, which are limited to controlling Philips Hue lights at the moment. The app allows for remote access to the network, so you can manage it even when you’re not at home.
Getting the Google Wifi system up and running in my home was painless and took about 10 minutes total to complete. My house is not large, but it has older construction and its main living spaces are additions to the original structure, meaning that one of their walls used to be an exterior wall, which presents an even greater challenge for wireless signals. Further, the modem is located in an upstairs room, making it difficult for a standard router to reach the additions on the left and right sides of the house.
I put one Wifi point in my upstairs office, connected to my ISP’s modem. (If you have a combination router and modem from your ISP, you will need to disable its router functionality in order to use Google Wifi.) I then placed the other points in the areas where a traditional router struggles to cover: the family room on the right side of the house and the master bedroom on the opposite side.
In each room, Google Wifi was able to provide a strong wireless signal and enough internet bandwidth for the most demanding streaming needs, including 4K video. (My home internet plan provides 200Mbps download speeds and 35Mbps uploads.) Unsurprisingly, the furthest room (our bedroom) proved to be the hardest test, but I was still able to get an average of 90Mbps download speeds in there, which is more than enough for streaming Ultra HD video.
