So Serene to watch
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this. It’s very quiet. So easy to put together. So easy to link to your phone & control. There are so many different beautiful patterns to choose from once you download the app to your phone, then it automatically links to your drift, (your phone has to be close to your drift to link) then you click on it & go searching for your favorites to download. I love that I can set a pattern playlist, I can also control the speed. I also love the mix of colors. This is a perfect gift for someone who enjoys relaxing & watching beauty come to life. **I wouldn’t suggest it be in reach of children younger than school age who could bump it, knock it over, or break the glass top.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After much thought I decided to treat myself and see if this product was as relaxing as the reviews stated. It is!! Not only is it very calming, it is a great piece of art that you can program pictures for different holidays. You can also control the lighting to switch between your choice of colors , one solid color or no light at all. Also, so may patterns to pick from!

A Unique Zen Garden That May Just Be Your Vibe
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was on the fence about reviewing the HoMedics drift table, but after having it for a week I have a few things to say about it, so let’s get into it. My first thought about the table was of course why anyone would pay the asking price for something that seems useless. The table doesn’t do anything but draw patterns that you pick via your phone on sand using a small ball. How will this enhance my well-being or bring me happiness and tranquility? Well, the long and short of it is that this table does something unique and quite well. Setting up the drift is pretty easy. You get a bag of sand with the 16inch unit, a sand rake, a ball, a glass top, and of course the bowl. Pour the sand into the bowl, rake it a bit to spread it out evenly, put the ball on the table and place the glass on top. That’s it, now you’re ready to plug it in and download the drift app to control it. Once you get the app set up on your phone, you’ll be able to download different patterns and playlists of patterns as well as have the ability to adjust the LED brightness, LED colors, and speed of the ball. Pairing your phone app with the table is pretty straightforward, except that on my iPhone the device shows up as “KSXXXXXX” unlike on my wife’s Android phone where it does come up as a HoMedics drift table. Only one device can be connected to the unit at a time and you’ll have to choose the table every time you launch the application. I’ve also received several “app updates” which are firmware updates to the table. I’m not sure what they’ve done as no notes are provided, but I’m assuming they are patches to fix bugs, etc. Once you pick a pattern or a playlist, the little ball goes to work making it. You can hear the ball rolling through the sand at medium speed if you’re in a quiet setting. Turn up the speed to 100% and the unit definitely emits some noise, but it’s neither too loud nor distracting. I’ve heard some complaints about the noise, but in my setting, it’s hardly noticeable. Watching the pattern being created is uniquely satisfying and being able to pick from so many different patterns is a plus. Choosing from patterns such as fractals, flowers, spiral designs, and even holiday-themed patterns is a great addition to an already mesmerizing experience. The finished sand drawing is very intricate and extremely accurate, which seems to surprise me every time. While there are many designs to choose from, I would love to see HoMedics continue to add designs and playlists to enhance the user experience. This table is what I’d consider a luxury item, but in the right setting and for the right person that appreciates the soothing relaxation that a device like this can bring, the HoMedics drift may be well worth the investment. This unit is currently sitting on my coffee table and looks at home there with its black finish and colorful lighting. I’m positive that this device would complement any living room, office, or waiting room and will turn some heads and be a conversation piece wherever it’s placed.

A Sandbox for Adults
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HoMedics Drift Sand Table not only brings the sandbox to the 21st century, it brings it indoors as well. There are two colors - cream and black, either of which fit with any decor. Setup is simple - place the unit on your table, dump the sand in and rake it somewhat smooth, place the silver ball in the center, place the glass on the top and load the app. From the app you have a large selection of designs including many for holidays, control of design speed, playlists and light color and brightness.. Watching the silver ball create designs in the sand is nothing short of mesmerizing! I thought watching Tik-Tok videos took me away but this has it beat. Watching the designs build coupled with relaxing breathing techniques is incredibly relaxing. Of course the app is available for both iPhone and Android but I also like that it is available for MacOs - which is really convenient if you happen to have the Drift in your office or workspace. You can program your favorite designs in a playlist that will continue to create designs or you can choose to stop after each one. You can also schedule on and off times. I do like that the Drift app doesn't require you to create a log-in however, after a few days it does force you to register the product with personal info and there doesn't seem to be a way around this. Also, the drift will work for anyone who has the app and can connect with the Drift’s bluetooth signal, although only one at a time. A point on the bluetooth - the device name is awkward and not clearly recognizable which could be an issue if there are many other devices around you, and there is no way to change it. I did experience an issue with the app, the save feature doesn’t stick for lighting colors, dimming and speed. Fortunately this isn't that big a deal and could easily be fixed with an update. If I’m being critical, I would have liked the Drift to include speakers so you can stream music, making one device to provide total relaxation. I would also like to see a design portion in the app to create your own designs if so inclined. Overall, the Homedics Drift is a really cool device. I give it 5 stars and would absolutely recommend it to anyone with the means to get one.

Mesmerizing and Relaxing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TLDR: (that’s Too Long, Didn’t Read) The complexity of patterns this thing can make is amazing! The app has a ton of functionality and is easy to use once connected via Bluetooth. The lighting effects are really calming. It’s nearly silent and can even be scheduled so it doesn’t run at night or any other times you want. Pros: * Vast array of complex patterns. * Calming lighting that is fully controllable. * Easy to use app for choosing patterns, playlists, lighting, schedules, etc. Cons: * App works via Bluetooth so must be nearby to control. * Connectivity could be easier. Setup: Basic setup is a bit more involved than just plugging it in, but it was still relatively easy. The base unit fits on most end tables, nightstands, coffee tables or any other flat level surface you have. Best to set it up where you might walk by it often so you can gaze at the mesmerizing patterns often. Next step is emptying the supplied pack of fine sand into the middle of the base and spreading it around evenly with the provided plastic rake. Place the metal ball in the middle so it magnetically sticks to the mechanism under the sand bowl. Lastly, place the glass top on it and plug it in. BTW, the glass top not only keeps everything neat and clean, but also keeps curious critters (cats, etc.) from messing around with the ball or sand :-) Install the app and select the unit’s Bluetooth name. This is the only part that was not easy. When I first set it up, the Drift wasn’t listed by any logical name like “Drift” or “Homedics.” I had about 8 nearby devices in the list to choose from and it was trial-and-error to discover that my Drift was the one listed as “KS……” (maybe for Kinetic Sculpture?). After all of this, I discovered that there’s a sticker on the bottom of the unit that lists this “KS….” bluetooth name. If you hadn’t noticed that before setting it up, you probably won’t ever pick it up again to find that sticker after filling it up with sand. Once I figured out which one was my Drift, the rest was easy. The app guided me through everything including what all the controls in the app were. About a week later, there was both an app and a device firmware update. This changed the bluetooth name to something a little more obvious of “Homedics drift XXXX” where the XXXX were the last four digits of the “KS….” sticker. Of course, if you have more than one of these within bluetooth range, you still have to guess which one you’re connecting to, but at least it’s more obvious than “KS….” from the hidden sticker and you can probably infer that the last four digits of the sticker are the same as the digits in the Bluetooth name. Usage: There are two buttons on the back for power and lighting so you don’t need to have the app handy just to turn the lights off, etc. The majority of functions are controlled via the app, though. You can choose from over 100 complex patterns, make playlists, choose the color and mode of the lighting and see the progress of the design being drawn by the ball in the sand. It is nearly silent when making a sculpture with barely a hint of sound from the metal ball as it rolls over the fine sand. Even so, you can schedule when the Drift is on so perhaps it turns off at night while you’re sleeping, or just turn off the lights at night. The complexity of designs this can make is truly unique and fun to watch. The app implies that new patterns might be added and available for use at a later date, too. Again, my only real complaint is that the Bluetooth device must be selected from a list every time you connect to use the app. It would be great if the app could remember and reconnect automatically if in range after the first time you select it from the list. Conclusion: Fascinating and mesmerizing with tons of options for the designs it can produce. Easy to control and set up once you figure out the device’s name to select from the Bluetooth list. Overall, a really cool addition to any home or spa.

Great for Meditation and decoration
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HoMedics is a well-known company that makes excellent wellness products, such as massagers and diffusers. I have wanted to do a sandscape meditation project for a long time, but I haven't had time. It is great that HoMedics now has a sandscape table called Drift Meditation. Assembling the unit is simple, and it comes with two small sandbags, a comb/rake, a metal ball/sphere, and a very long (12 feet) power cord. I love how the color light gets reflected on the sand. The app has various mesmerizing patterns to choose from, create or select a playlist of designs/patterns, control the drift ball's speed, and control the color scheme and brightness. There are holiday patterns, like Christmas and Father's day, and the app gets updated with new patterns you can download. I like that some patterns have written messages, such as "You are loved" and "Happy Father's Day." I hope the app designers can allow users to create patterns and add their own words. For now, I sometimes write myself messages on top of the glass with a color dry erase marker. When the unit creates a pattern, the magnetic metal ball/sphere makes a continuous sort of faint grinding sound, which I find soothing. Whether listening to the ball rolling, watching, or both, the Drift promote calmness. Once in a while, when the sand accumulates on the rim/edges of the circle, I use the comb to spread the sand evenly, and then with the app, I play the clean pattern to reset the unit. The clean pattern can be used any time; basically, it spreads the sand evenly in a circular pattern. Overall, I am satisfied with this wellness Drift meditation table. It does help me a lot with the patterns, the metal ball drifting sound, and having messages in the pattern or me writing with a dry erase marker.

Every Changing Relaxing Moods
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Reminiscent of Japanese ZEN Table Sand Gardens. We found it stunning when we first began creating Drift Sandscapes. Setup is simple and takes little time to unbox, rake the sand, and load app to begin creating your first Zen Sand Garden. It is a mesmerizing show in color and slow developing Zen Creations, it is calming. Aside of the tranquil creations the Drift is an impressive home decoration, will blend nicely with most any style of home furnishings. Our Drift is Cream color and looks quite nice on our Cherry Japanese Tea Table. There is a library of drift sand designs accessible through the app which also which includes complete palette color wheel and effects. An almost limitless array of color effects and drift patterns. Patterns are hands down fantastic and some even whimsical. One appreciated feature is the ability to create extensive Playlists in the app and load your favorite designs for continuous play. App is bit inconsistent in operations, keeping Bluetooth available has required resetting mobile Bluetooth at times. App power button selector does not work well either, possibly due to poor Bluetooth connection. Hopefully App gets some attention. Stainless steel ball that creates the designs is apparently driven via magnetism to lay out wonderful designs, quite amazing how fine the system lays out the sand layer designs. They are stunning. The Drift is a welcome addition to our Livingroom and enjoyed by the whole family. Smile, breathe, go slowly, and relax with Drift Mindfulness.

Incredibly cool
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HoMedics drift sand table… will it take you to that zen place? I don’t know, but what I do know is it’s incredibly cool! If you plan to set this on an end table I would go with the 16” model as it’s a pretty big device. I have mine on a small end table and it pretty much takes up the whole table with room to put small items or a drink. The device is made of a polymer material for the base with a solid piece of glass for the top. To setup you simply pour the sand in, spread it around with the included tool, put the ball bearing in the middle and then connect the app. When it comes to taking you to that blissful relaxing place, listening to it make designs is what I and others found relaxing. The app is how you control everything the device does, from making a design, the speed at which it’s made and the color of the lights. There are over 100 designs to choose from but you can’t make your own designs. Being able to make your own designs would definitely be a feature I would like to see added and feel it would make an already cool device that much cooler. The app itself is the weak point of the device, though it’s not bad it could be better. The biggest issue is when you turn the device off and connect to it again, the app sometimes doesn’t remember the settings such as what the lights were set at when it was turned off. The app is something that can easily be updated by HoMedics to remedy this and hopefully add the ability to make your own designs. If your looking for something that if nothing else is a conversation piece but is also relaxing to listen too, this is it.

ZEN ! Homedics 16in Drift Sand Meditation Table
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Zen is the word !Let me start by saying this thing is beautiful! It was even more beautiful than I hoped for in looking at all the pictures and information online. There really is no “installation”. You basically empty the sand on to the unit, place the ball where the magnet grabs it. I did actually take the rake and smooth and even out the sand around the unit. You then place the glass cover on it. It is very high quality, not just a cheap glass cover. I got the black unit so the glass cover has a very nice black border on it. Setup is easy, you connect to the unit with Bluetooth. Once connected you have so many configuration options available to you. You have the “Player” which the screen shows you what is playing and gives you the options to pause between patterns, shuffle patterns, control the speed, brightness and color selection. When selecting colors, you have the standard color circle where you move the cursor and tap to add a variety of colors. You can then select how often they change and even choose a “breathing” option so that the colors seem to breathe from darker to lighter. Very Cool ! Next you can create “playlists” from individual patterns. Patterns are the next section and you can go and download groups of patterns. So basically, go to patterns first, download a bunch of them and experiment with what you like. Once you find a few that you like, you can create a playlist of them. To be honest, this thing is mesmerizing! The number of possibilities and combinations are endless. You literally find yourself staring at it, and your heart rate lessens and you relax ( at least for me it did!). The settings tab on the app allows you to select a Dark Theme ( which I prefer). You can also set a schedule by each day if you like. This is nice because you can have it turn on minutes before you go into your office area ( where I have it) and start patterns and then have it automatically stop when you normally end your day. I am on conference calls all day every day. This provides me real peace when days are stressful. I find myself taking pics of new patterns and sending them to the wife and kids while I work..lol While it is a bit pricy, it is an amazing thing. It does come with a little rake if you want to rake the sand yourself but it’s so much cooler watching it create the beautiful designs. I am really happy I got this, it’s an amazing addition to my office. My wife wants me to put it on a coffee table downstairs so we can enjoy other times as well ! I would recommend this and love it!

Absolutely mesmerizing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is such a cool gadget. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Never seen anything like this before. It’s very mesmerizing and soothing to just watch the patterns build. It was so easy to set up too. Basically just pour the sand in, flatten it out a little, plug it in and turn it on. It starts making the default clearing pattern right away. You’ll need the app to load the patterns, customize the pattern playlist and set it up but you can just use the front panel buttons to turn it on or off and change colors once you give it some patterns to run. We set a playlist up with about 30 of our favorite patterns and just turn it on when we’re on the couch. A perfect conversation piece, we have it sitting prominently on our coffee table. Anyone who has been over has really loved it. The lighting is great and can be run either lit up or not. Some of the designs are so intricate, it’s mind blowing how it can possibly even be done. Whoever came up with this is a genius. You can also stop the ball from moving if you want the leave one of the designs there for a while and keep it lit.Press the power button once to just stop the ball, press and hold to turn it off. The other button is the color change button and if you press that once, it will cycle through about 5 different colors each press. Hold that one in and it shuts the light off, while the ball keeps moving. My fiancé and I both have the app installed on our phones but only one can connect at a time to it. But it works from either of our phones as long as the other isn’t connected to it. This is just really, really cool and it surely won’t disappoint.

Conversation starter/ Relaxing to watch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very interesting piece of furniture if you would like.. i was a little skeptical in the beginning but it all turned around and i am very pleased with this table. Doesn't take much to get it going, pretty straight forward, it connects to both IOS or Android, just have to dump the sand, use the included rake to spread it a little bit, set the ball inside, cover it with the glass top, find and outlet to plug it in (cause unfortunately it's not battery operated) and you ca Drift away! Very pleasant experience, i have been using it for few weeks now and still find it interesting plus everyone that comes to my living room they always seem to go take a look for a little to admire whatever pattern is on display. The colors make it fit great in different situation and there are plenty of patterns u can select from the app. The speed that that pattern is drawn can be selected from the app as well. And either u stay next to it look at it happening for a while or stop by from time to time it's pretty relaxing and gives u a feeling of accomplishment even tough u didn't actually drawn anything it's just the fact that u started it i guess. I wish it had a built in speaker for some relaxing sounds too i think it would made it even more interesting but nothing the less it's pretty cool and i'm happy to have it in my house!

High Quality and Mesmerizing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This sand table comes extremely well packaged. Everything, including the glass cover, is well protected. It is great quality and seems very high-end (spa quality). The set up is very easy, you put the sand and the steel ball inside, turn it on, and it pretty much does the rest. The power cord is nice and long. It has controls on the base of the unit, but the phone app is wonderful - you can select speed, brightness, color, and patterns. It's amazing how enjoyable watching the steel ball create patterns is - very calming. I have the sand table sitting on my desk next to my computer and it seems to reduce the stress of working on a screen constantly, and is relaxing just to have nearby. It's also a great conversation piece to display, and is actually more of an "art" piece. The sand table is aesthetically beautiful and can truly have an impact on your mood. It helps your mind get clear of distractions and "escape" the normal every day stressors that can bring you down or drain your energy.

Geometric patterns are *GORGEOUS* for hours
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.“Invite Calm in “ More than a modern day Lava Lamp This is my first sand table, honestly didn’t even know this category existed , but am very glad I now do. Incredibly well packaged and nicely laid out design, with accessories and power adapter attachments clearly labeled (not needed in US) Literally 3-step setup, without instructions. Unbox, pour in included pouch of white sand and steelie Plug into outlet, Bluetooth pair with iPad, and select a design. Even the first pattern was mesmerizing to me, even without meditation it most definitely transfixes your senses, and creates the sense of calm that I did not expect. The best part was when my wife arrived home from work, and walked by to drop her laptop bag, she looked in the living room for a brief glance at the colorful LED lights, and wishing a few seconds was asking about it, gazing at the slow moving steel ball creating amazing geometric patterns in the sand. I don’t want to belabor the point, but, though a bit pricey, this is one of the coolest products I’ve received in a very long time. The app is not even version 1.0 yet, but far more polished than any previous beta release I’ve been a part of,, and will only continue to get better. While not perfect, there is room to grow, hence my suggestions below for a 2nd Gen product, though for now the family and I are perfectly satisfied and thrilled with our first Zen Sand Table. Now for the Meditation part to maximize our enjoyment. Pros + Apple like packaging + 129 beautiful pre-loaded patterns + more patterns downloadable from app, + instruction booklet included but not needed + steel ball speed control slider (in app) + variable led brightness slider + just plan cool + mesmerizing Cons / suggestions -suggest including an extra “steelie” or two -stereo speakers could play Zen like music -rechargeable Li-Ion to remove the cord would be cleaner -manual ball adjustment could generate user created patterns -my only regret is that I wish I’d got the 21-inch black version Conclusion HoMedics seems onto something here with this amazing new product that I didn’t know I needed. Setup is 3-step simple, and includes pre-programmed magnetic movements to create amazing fragile looking patterns in the sand. Recommended: Strong Buy

Fun to watch and see what comes up
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I got this, I was not quite sure what to do with it. Setup was easy, just take it out, pour the sand in, get the app, and connect to it through Bluetooth to set what picture it makes. I then take a picture and though it was interesting, but not sure how I would use it day to day. After having it around the house for a few days, and having people visiting and looking at it, it has become enjoyable to setup a few designs to run and see what’s on there when I walk by. With that said, if this is something you like and are considering I would recommend it. It doesn’t change my life or make me any more relaxed, but it is a nice thing to have somewhere to look at here and there. If you’re not sure what you’d do with this, then its probably not for you. My only real issue is that each time I turn on the app, I must click to connect to the device rather then just have it auto connect. It is also Bluetooth, so you need to be close, but there really isn’t any need for you to manage this with you’re not right beside it. I am hopefully there are more designs, and even better would love to create my own or import a picture that it tries to convert. But even as it is, its still fun to see what’s there.

Fun, beautiful and a great way to slow down
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My family loves this dynamic art. When we show guest, we joke that it is our own automatic Zen garden, and it is an immediate conversation starter. Line by line you slowly watch the designs take shape. With so many gadgets that deliver instant gratification, it is a great way to slow down and watch art happen. Even my 5-year old daughter, who is normally a ball of energy, sometimes just sits peering down at it. Set up was easy. You do have to plug it in, but the power cord is very long. The power adapter comes with a variety of plugs, so you are covered if you move to another country. The application is great on iPhone and connecting via Bluetooth was easy. You can change the color and brightness. There are plenty of beautiful or fun patterns to choose from. Options to randomize, set a playlist, set pauses, and change speed. Probably the only things to note are that it does make a faint whirring/grinding noise as it works, you have to occasionally rake it using the included comb to level the sand, and even the smaller 16” size does take up a good amount of table space.
