Rather than always grabbing instant savings, I often analyze quality, reliability and long-term savings of a generic product versus brand name. I've tried un-branded toner cartridges, and while the savings are attractive, the print quality and color is often lower. For toner cartridges for my HP laserjet printer, I've learned that to ensure high quality business and photo prints, the HP toner provides the most accurate color reproduction and I get more volume than most non-brand products.
