Customers are saying

Customers love the OfficeJet Pro 8720's exceptional print quality and ease of use, frequently praising its straightforward setup and reliable performance. While some find it larger than expected and a bit noisy, the convenience of wireless printing and scanning capabilities are also frequently highlighted. The printer's occasional paper jams are a noted drawback for some users.

I have only used HP in the past. I rely on the quality of their products. My biggest issue is that it prints a blurry copy when I send docs from my phone. It is very frustrating.

Unfortunately I have to keep resetting the printer head alignment everyday in order to print. Will be returning. Purchased a different HP Model to replace this one.

This is the slowest printer for its size I have ever seen. Setting it up to my wireless was long and complicated. I’m getting a new one as soon as possible.

Lasted a week then broke, have had many of this model and other model HP printers and they all get the dreaded Carriage Jam Error.

    Unreliable software - useless support

As soon as this printer is added to the network, this printer would go into a generic 'printer error' mode that made the printer dead until it was reset. Printer would continue to do it periodically when printer was just sitting idle on network. Printer HIDES the error from you, making it harder to debug. HP Support was useless - exchanged the printer to make sure it was not a defective unit - new unit does same thing. Printer randomly goes into 'printer error' even when sitting unused. HP support disabled ipv6, was stable for 2 days, moved printer, issue returns. Printer makes itself impossible to troubleshoot (must print event log page to even see error #), and becomes unusable for it seems any error. Add in HP support doesn't use their own diagnostics and instead drags you through level0 and can't even lookup their own error codes. Returned printer as its just not reliable with current software.

If you purchase this printer to print documents, then this printer is for you. If you want to print pictures on glossy paper; then this printer is not for you. I tried several times to print a picture. The ink smudges; and the paper sticks to the tray. I ran blank plain letter sheets of paper through the printer. Several had smudges on them. The smudges finally disappeared after the 6th or 7th sheet.

    Terrible For Scanning

The designer of the OfficeJet Pro 8720 should be sentenced to an eternity of nonstop never-ending scanning of every book and document ever written. I have owned several HP printer/scanners throughout the years and have never had one as frustrating as this. I have used both expensive and cheap paper in it and the outcome is always the same. It sucks in several pages at once while scanning causing me to have to stop the whole process, take everything out, figure out what scanned and what didn't, reload the remaining pages to scan, watch it suck in several at once again, stop everything, clear paper jam, reset it to scan again, and it goes on and on. Depending on how many pages I need to scan into one document, I have spent up to an hour on many occasions scanning, stopping, clearing jam, deleting messed up pages, rescanning. I with I could just throw this stupid thing out of the window.

Hi Elliebell, sorry to hear you are experiencing a paper jam issue on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer. Paper jams can be real or false. The printer might report a paper jam even when there is no jammed paper. The steps in following document apply to both real and false paper jams: http://hp.care/2oe5SJN HP printers generally have a 1-year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link: http://bit.ly/2mP3Xrb You can also contact HP Support in case you need further assistance: http://hp.care/2nbNQFi HP

I had to install the printer software on an HP Envy laptop running Windows 10 three times, the third time with the help of an HP representative online. After the first installation, the printer was continually "offline". After the second installation, the Scan dialog box would not display. The printer trashed a sheet of paper during a two-sided print on the third day of usage.
