I’ve had it for 6 months, using daily for my business — mostly Word and PDF files, and a good bit of photo editing and storage. So far, only used 30 GB on the 128 GB solid state drive, so I won’t need any more space ever. I still use the good old free Picasa for photo editing, storage, and management — even though Google no longer supports it (great, simple but effective program). I do a fair bit of browsing, and use Google Maps, and even store all my business and personal photos on the Google Photos cloud for free. I usually buy a new laptop every two years, just to keep up with the better technology. I spent $659 on this slick brushed gold laptop last November, and I have not regretted it for one moment! I have had NO issues with it whatsoever. One reviewer mentioned that it has a glossy screen, which it does, and you get reflections on the screen from your surroundings when in bright light, like near a sunny window. That is true, but it’s also pretty true for other devices like phones and iPads, etc. So, in very brightly lit rooms or outside, I would agree that it would be nice to have a little brighter screen with a bit more contrast. It’s not a big deal for me because I’m usually indoors doing my business work. Nice features include: backlit keyboard for use in lower light conditions, touchscreen that is accurate and not fussy, works with a quick flick or tap of a finger, the touchpad that also slides or clicks to your finger(s), the FAST ssd drive that boots, loads, and saves super quickly, a very colorful and full HD resolution screen (2016 X 1,024) which is also easy to personalize to your particular tastes). Also, a quiet fan that seldom even comes on. I hope you get the idea— this is my all-time favorite laptop, especially in this modest price range. Highly recommended!

Bought this for my college bound daughter. After discounts, etc the price was in-line with other models of the same specs. Upon arrival, we were impressed with the look and feel of the computer. She loved the 14" size (albeit no number pad on keyboard), 2-1 feature, backlit keyboard, battery life, fingerprint ID and the touchscreen. I would say the color is a champagne color. Not quite silver and not quite gold. Its very sleek looking and while it looks and feels sturdy - that comes with a caveat - it also feels HEAVY. I also noticed that it scratches and scuffs easily - especially if you will be using it in the tent position on various surfaces. We've had it less than a week and the edges are already scuffed. Also note that it does NOT come with a digital stylus pen - you will need to buy that separately and they are not cheap. This model is made specifically for Best Buy so it was difficult to compare HP models and/or find accessories that are compatible.

I picked this laptop out of the group available at my local Best Buy primarily for schoolwork, Youtube, etc. Pros: It is very light and easily portable, good battery life, bright screen, good keyboard responsiveness and feel. Cons: Possibly Windows10's fault, but random graphic glitches occur such as vertical bars randomly flashing on the side of the screen, large amount of bloatware initially installed that I had to delete, etc. Overall, 4/5 seems like a fair rating. I don't really use the touchscreen features, but it should be fine for anyone who prefers to use the laptop as a tablet. The SSD is pretty quick so boot times, file and program downloads/installations are fast, and the available storage is more than enough for my music, photos, and documents. This is no gaming PC, and sometimes even streaming shows causes the fan to crank up into high gear, but I didn't buy the laptop to be an entertainment center so it's not that big of an issue.

I was worried about switching to a PC but I couldn't be happier. What I get for the amount I paid is INSANE! Not to mention I basically get a tablet as well because of the 360 feature. I can take notes in class because I bout the stylus pen(not included) and take notes on it. The touch screen rocks. The startup and shut down are hyper fast. The switch to a PC was so much easier than I thought. It took me a few days to adjust but learning the new way was quite easy. This computer looks impressive too. It's sleek, cute and the lit keyboard is gorgeous. My only complaint is that the one I have was made exclusively for BestBuy. So trying to wind a rubber form fitting case hasn't happened. No one made covers for it(I've looked) and called BestBuy and they had no known cases that fit either. However, I just got a sleeve case and it's brilliant. I'm sure the hardshell cases will come out soon by someone. I just heard they scratch easily when in the A frame position to watch movies. But by all means get it. I am UBER happy with it and it was a fraction of the cost of an old non-PC computer.

I was not sure what to purchase because I had not had a computer for at least 12 years and was not up to date with all the new things you can do. I love the size and the looks of it. I like how easy it is to get the help I need without having to get a computer savvy person or pay someone to help me. It was and has been easy for me to get my pictures from my phone on to this computer. I like how fast it charges and how long I can go before charging again. The keyboard is really nice and love how your finger tips just smoothly glide from one key to the next. I thought I was too old to learn but I love how much I am learning its like a whole new world right in my lap and it is great. I would highly recommend this computer to everyone and especially the seniors who think they are too old or who think computers are too complicated. I look forward to learning how to draw next.

I've been searching for quite some time for a laptop that will allow me to be able to type essays, make power-points, use editing programs, listen to music, watch movies, make notes and etc. I love how it functional to be a tablet and a laptop. I love that it keeps up with me and lasts the whole day on a full charge while I type, listen and browse for things. It's not that heavy. At first I thought it bothered me but I don't notice it. It's a moderate weight. A downside is that there is no case I can buy for it. There are only sleeves. But the price isn't bad either. I'm also glad I didn't skimp out on the processor which is the i5-8th gen. The SSD is also pretty decent for 128 while the RAM is a modest 8GB. Overall, its a great laptop for a student who wants to work but also be able to use it for leisure. It's been a month now and I would not be able to do what I do in class if it wasn't for this laptop.

Completely worth the money. Battery life is strong. The aesthetic appeal is incredible. It feels wonderful in your hands and the keys are similar sounding to Apple computer keys. Sure you can hear when the vent comes on to cool it down, but I absolutely love that about it. I think it's neat. The screen resolution is wonderful, and the 2in1 works great. I love the fingerprint unlock, and especially for tablet mode it even has volume buttons on the side. You have to consider how it's displayed when using the audio. Playing music the quality is high, but the placement of the speaker can be used for or against you if you lean it against a back surface in tablet, but wouldn't recommend laying the speaker on the table to watch shows. Overall very satisfied with my purchase and hoping it lasts me as long as I was told it should.

Runs great but unfortunately scratches easily. I purchased it two months ago and it was disappointing to see that it has already accumulated some scratches, especially the reflective logo part on the front. I also wasn't expecting the fan to be as loud as it is but it doesn't bother me. Lastly, the tablet mode, pen & touch screen capabilities did meet my expectations--- I guess I was expecting something more high quality. Even calibrating the touch screen can be a challenge. For now, its been easier for me to just use it as a laptop. But I honestly don't regret this buy, as it does everything I need it to do and I can have as many tabs as I need without draining my battery (which is great for students like me who can have up to 30+ tabs open in the midst of an assignment because that's just how we roll). It has definitively helped be more productive.

(After 7.5 months) I bought this in an emergency after my lenovo stopped connecting to the internet and I needed to use a laptop for schoolwork. It has worked well for the past 7.5 months, but all of a sudden the cooling fan has developed a small rattle. I contacted HP and they're taking it in for repair so we'll see how that goes. This one does what I need it to do and I haven't really had any other issues or complaints about it. If it weren't for the cooling fan rattle, I'd have given this review 5 stars. I really wish HP or other manufacturers had a "loaner" program for when you have to send in laptops for repair, as I can't be without one for 2-3 weeks if it takes that long. I have schoolwork that I have to do on a daily basis, so I might need to find a way to buy one and return it later while this one is getting repaired. Only other wish: backlit keyboard, as that would make nighttime use much easier. My lenovo had that, and I miss it for when I need to hit random keys like volume, brightness, etc.

Recently purchased a newer laptop for my daughter had it for a couple of weeks.. She had it in her backpack with her other school books ..she noticed at the bottom of the screen a red hue..so we took it back to Best Buy to have them look at it. Was told it was damaged by too much pressure. Her backpack was designed to hold a Laptop with books. Two options: purchasing a new one or for about the same cost ..sending back and having it fixed at HP. She would have been without it. And needed it for school. So we ended up purchasing a new one. Best Buy was great matching the same cost that we paid for it. I know reading this you would say didn’t you purchase an extended warranty? .. I wish we would have.. but we paid for one on the first one and never needed it. Her other HP laptop was in the same backpack with her books with no issues. Lesson learned .. she now keeps this new one in a separate laptop case.

Its not a bad computer its just not good either. The fan sucks. Its extremely loud at almost all times if the computer is in a position it deems “unsatisfactory” and all the system updates hp does to it doesnt work. And sending it in to hp doesnt work either bc they wont do anything (as ik from experience). The battery begins to suck after a while. Ive only had it for a little over a year and it wont charge to 100% anymore. and the speaker is absolute trash. It constantly sticks and freezes and makes weird noises. And theres moments where it doesnt play loud enough, and times it seems that wont just quiet down. All in all though, its not completely horrible. It runs pretty well, the touch screen is amazing honestly, and if you download games like runescape (like i do) itll run it and not overheat. So its good for a student if you just need a decent laptop that can get you through college.

    Terrible

I got this laptop because of it's unanimous great reviews. First laptop had two yellow spots on the screen, so I returned it. The second laptop had faint diagonal lines, and the screen was slow so I returned that one. The THIRD one...had faint diagonal lines too, and got hot and noisy under small loads. The fourth and last one I bought had all of the same issues as #3. I am surprised nobody has mentioned this in the reviews. I initially thought the stock of a store was damaged...so I went to another store. Well...the last two laptops are from that second store. Don't bother, at least not if you're in the Cincinnati area. Terrible computer.

Overall this computer is really good. This was a gift to me for college. I love the touch screen capabilities, great for writing out long math problem. The graphics are amazing. Even the battery life is better than I anticipated. However, I have continued issues with the audio and switching between touch screen and keyboard. Occasionally, whenever I try to use the sound, it does not work. After troubleshooting several times it will work, but that's not what you want as a normal for such a high end computer. I also encounter issues when I go from using the bamboo pen to trying to use the keyboard. Certain keys will open up corresponding applications, none of which I wanted. This could be something in my part, but it's a big irritation.

After doing extensive research, I have found this laptop is more expensive than its counterparts. Similar HP laptops offer same design and build for a hundred to a couple hundred dollars less. Per the best buy associate, the design (literally, its look) is what's driving up the cost which is not meaningful. Other than that, the laptop runs nicely and does use quick processer technology. The laptop's specifications are very similar to others, which is most important., so I'd be careful and compare laptops strictly based on that. Design is nice, but not worth driving up price significantly. Another issue I'm having with this laptop is that I cannot find it on the HP website itself to gather more information.

I was looking for a high performing, smaller form factor, touchscreen laptop - something portable, but capable (3D modeling, occasional gaming). It delivers on those points. 2 considerations - 1) this converts to tablet form, but for me this it pretty awkward - it's heavy for that and with this design the keyboard is exposed. I wasn't looking for that, so not a negative. 2) the edges are sharp. Resting your hands on the front edge or resting the unit on your lap (it is a *lap*top) can be uncomfortable (if pressing into your belly). I added some self adhesive foam to cushion the edge then later ran some very fine sandpaper around the rest of the edges. That was something that never occurred to me to think about when looking at in the store. Not a deal breaker, but...

I purchased this laptop a few weeks ago, it has a beautiful design and is very lightweight. The startup time is very fast, the resolution is great, and letters on the keyboard are large. I am very happy with my purchase but two things threw me off. At times, the fan can be fairly loud which is off-putting. Also, the audio jack socket is not suitable for regular earphones. I am surprised that no one has said anything about this. The headphones that I usually use with my cellphone and other laptops did not fit into this laptop so you will have to purchase one that is compatible with this computer.

I am a Mac user, but needed a Windows machine for some specialized DSP development software. The x360 convertible is the perfect fit for my needs: plenty fast enough, perfect size (nearly identical to a MacBook Air), expandable (I added a SATA SSD to increase disk space), brilliant screen, and passable keyboard (a little mushy, but not to the point of being annoying). I am getting used to the convertible feature by flipping the screen and using it as a tablet -- which so far, I have been able to use during takeoff and landing on flights. Not sure what the "small" vs. "large" FAA requirements are for computers, but I've not been asked to turn it off yet! Highly recommended for nearly any application where plenty of power in a compact package is needed.

We bought this to replace an older laptop that we used mainly as a desktop plugged into monitor and keyboard/mouse. We went with a 2 in 1 so we had the mobility and usefulness of a new tablet, but could still do all the home office and work tasks of a new laptop. This does all that. Really the only issue is the smaller HD (reason for 4 stars vs 5). We have a TB external tied to it and keep all our documents there and it works but I plan to replace the drive with a larger one. So far it has been doing what we wanted, is mobile so we actually take it with us, works to watch movies etc while traveling and has enough power to run PowerPoint, excel, word duties for work when needed.

Nice and zippy little laptop, even with all the extra stuff that HP throws on their machines. Did have a problem with the glare off the screen in any kind of outdoor lighting condition. I had troubles sitting next to a window with sunlight streaming in. Also was not a big fan of silver keys with white lettering. If the backlighting is turned on in a well lit environment, you will have problems picking out the keys. In a dim environment, the backlighting is perfect. Also, the backlighting didn't appear to be automatic. Most other laptops, the backlighting would turn on as soon as you started typing. This HP was either on or off. Also loved the tiny power supply. Would be better if it were USB-C, but for the $$, this is an excellent machine.
