Super accurate! Was skeptical at first, but I decided to buy for Christmas and I gotta give credit where credit is do! The shot tracking accuracy is really good. Always knows where I'm shooting from. Surprised at how accurate it is. Well made product! I recommend to anyone who loves basketball like we do!

This is a great game room addition! It’s sturdy, easy to set up, and perfect for practicing shots or having fun indoors. The HDMI out is a cool feature but it doesn’t like 8k HDMI cables for some reason. It works fine with basic ones.

The basketball hoop does not stay on and constantly shuts off and will not stay charged. This is being returned. Not worth the money and they only send one ball. Plus it doesn’t fit on every door. You have to buy an attachment to mount on a wall.

My in-laws wrapped up a Huupe for our son this Holiday. Candidly, i figured a 3 year old would be more excited about the box than the product. (On that note, the packing is remarkable, Apple-esque, even). I was wrong. The only time our son has left the basement to take a Huupe break is for food, water, and the occasional nap. The games are fun, interactive, and sweat-inducing. The small product details are remarkable: a real rim, a ball with a realistic texture, the crisp swish of the net. I can’t recommend this product enough for anyone with a competitive streak or who simply wants a parenting break.

Huupe Mini is Close to Perfect

Huupe has released their smaller version of the Huupe Pro - the HUUPE MINI for indoors! The box includes the TV/backboard, orange goal, mini basketball, mini air pump w/needle, AC adapter, 13' USB-C nylon braided charging cable, screwdriver/allen wrench, bolt wrench, 2 door brackets, Bluetooth (BT) remote control, and quick user guide/paperwork. The game comes with a manufacturer's 1-year warranty. PROS: ----------- * To build, it's pretty easy using the 2 simple tools provided. The 2 bolts in the back corner of the goal can be difficult to reach and tighten, but you only have to do it once. The goal is very durable and solidly built. * The game is seriously fun to play with 1v1. You can set up a friends list and play someone you know in a completely different place. The only issue is that each of you have to buy one of these Huupes, and they're not cheap. * Customer service has been absolutely GREAT. I was able to get responses typically within the hour. * The game keeps decent stats from practice and real games * The brackets work on either side of the door though it will definitely work better on the open-facing side of the door. The brackets are easy to secure as shown by my pic. And the brackets are also thin enough that I was able to close my door and it not scrape the top of the door trim up top. * The ball is a great size and is blown up by the provided mini air pump. The needle is housed in the handle tip (see pic). It's a nice addition to the game getting a small air pump. * Once the game becomes obsolete (servers go offline, no one plays online, etc), you will still be able to use it as a regular mini-basketball hoop like you would any other regular mini-hoop. * The goal is slightly breakaway-ish. I wouldn't do anything major on it or it could break. The goal is solid though. Keep in mind that there are still serious electronics in the backboard so don't slap it or hit it extremely hard or it could get damaged. * You can use an HDMI cable to connect a monitor or TV so everyone can see the screen. * The remote is solidly built, doesn't feel cheap. * The 13-foot USB-C charging cable should be ample length for nearly any installation location - just protect that USB-C tip if you must play with it plugged in! * For the younger players, you can update the look of your avatar by getting h-bucks... either by winning them or by purchasing them. Once you get into the shop, you'll be able to figure it out. * Parental controls can be added if you have a young'n. * You can mount the Huupe mini on a wall using an optional wall mount kit... this may actually be a better option than a door in some rooms. * Hit the basketball button at the top-right on the remote for Shot Tracking Overlay. This is a pretty cool feature to see the path of you balls when tracked. CONS: ----------- * Currently, there is no Play Store. What you see is what you get with the apps provided. You also can't remove or add individual apps. A FULL system update has to be done in order to be able to update apps that are pre-loaded, and whatever OS is updated, it will also control if new apps are added/deleted. For instance, you can't install Netflix, and it currently isn't loaded... so unless they add Netflix to the home screen, the only way to get it on there would be to install at your own risk by possibly using your own APK via the USB-C port (maybe?). It does have a mode in which APKs can be loaded. * I would have loved to have 2 allen bolts rather than 2 phillips head bolts when putting on the door brackets. It's definitely not a deal killer, but it would keep the bolts from ever getting stripped - just use a hex head. * A major issue is the location of the USB-C charging port. The instructions say it's best to play with it UNPLUGGED; however, at some point, the battery will die quicker or you'll want to play and the battery simply won't last forever and you'll have to plug up. If you do, I would make certain that you cover up the USB-C plug area so that the ball cannot hit the plug tip. If it does, there's a good chance that the tip will break off. This is a flaw in the design. The plug should have been recessed an inch or two into the unit or in a channel on the back so only the cord would hang from the goal and the USB-C tip would be protected by plastic (the goal itself). Hopefully this is something they will fix on Huupe v2 if one is released in the future. * If this game ever gets old and no one plays much anymore, playing a random person online obviously will not work. What if they eventually turn off the Huupe servers at some point due to lack of use? Think of the old Rock Band games on PS3/XBox - you can't play those anymore because they turned down the servers for online playing. Perhaps this game will last longer. * There is a small lag with the remote and the Huupe - the interface. The chipset inside the unit could use an upgrade in the future for better response time. Once an app or game is loaded, it seems to work fine though, but the lag is evident. Apps Currently Available: Huupe City Royale - this is the app you use to play other people online... 1v1, 2v2, 4v4 Daily Prize Challenge - make the most 3 ptrs in a row within a 24-hr period to win a daily prize. Just Huupe - Practice Mode with a clock YouTube Spotify Disney+ TNT Hulu TBS TruTV CBS Sports Prime Video NBA ESPN HBO Max (HDMI mode) OTHER OBSERVATIONS: ----------- * Initially, ESPN app would not update and wouldn't update until a new OS was released by Huupe. I was in touch with customer support and they stepped me through troubleshooting up to the point where we knew the OS had to be updated for ESPN to update. * You're going to get TIRED if you play alone. You will absolutely want to have a person to rebound the ball when you're playing someone. If you play by yourself, you'll be chasing the ball left and right while having to get back in position to shoot, and it is not easy when that happens. The 1v1 game is only 2 minutes long, and if you're chasing balls for 1/2 that time, you're not going to be very successful in winning. * The volume is what it is as with any "TV speaker", so I recommend getting an external BT speaker, pair it up with the Huupe, and it sounds much better. * The big hole in the back of the net is supposed to be that way so the sensors can read the ball correctly. If you move the big hold to the front or tie the rear netting together with a zip-tie or something, the game will not read your shots correctly. The only issue with this is that the ball that goes thru the net as "nothing but net" will simply hit the door every time it goes thru the hoop. I have not had any door-scuffing, but you may need some padding on the door where the ball hits in order to keep the sound down if needed. CONCLUSION: ===================== It's a mixed bag. There are lots of positives and improvements that could be made to make it even better. I'm hopeful that software upgrades in the future will allow for more apps and games AND MORE TYPES of games. Huupe should want to keep everything fresh, so please keep new things coming to the OS to keep people playing. There are a lot of good things about this product, but a few improvements here and there will make it elite. Good job Huupe!

I've been using the Huupe Mini for about a week now, and while it’s definitely one of the more interesting things I’ve added to my rec room, it comes with a fair share of frustration. First off, setup was super easy. I liked that everything was included—even the little screwdriver—so I didn’t have to go hunt for tools. It mounted over the door, and once it’s up, it stays put. I was a bit thrown by the net at first...there’s a hole in the back that looked like a factory error. Turns out, that’s where the sensor detects if the ball goes in. Makes sense, but it threw me off at first. Once it’s up and running, it actually is a ton of fun. The built-in screen looks good—no complaints there—but it’s basically a big Android tablet that feels a few years old. It’s a little laggy, and you can’t really do much with it besides what they preload on it. I wish they’d just let us use it like a regular Android tablet so we could download our own apps. They tout watching the NBA, but if the game is on DirectTV what am I supposed to do? If they’re going to use Android, open it up. The shot tracking is accurate - impressively so. I’ve been really impressed with how well it picks up distance and there really weren't many false positives, but a handful of makes didn't register, but that's to be expected with any of these types of games. I was also impressed at the use base. I expected it to be such a niche product that you'd need to have a friend you know to play against, but there’s always someone online to play against. I never had to wait around for a match, which says a lot about the size of the community already. The thing that really bugs me, though, is the battery. You can’t just plug it in and play—it has to charge up first, like a smartphone. And even when you’ve charged it, IF you don’t use it right away, it just drains overnight. I’ve had a few times where I charged it thinking I’d play later, and by the time I went to use it, it was already dead. At this point, I just keep it plugged in constantly, which kind of defeats the purpose of having it battery-powered in the first place. Honestly, at this point and price, I think they should rethink the whole screen idea. If it were up to me, I’d ditch the built-in screen completely and just make it connect to an iPad or tablet through Bluetooth. That way, you’d only need power for the sensors, and the rest could run off a device we already own. It’d be cheaper, lighter, and easier to update. Sure, the screen wouldn’t be as big, but the experience would be smoother—and way more reliable. Overall the Huupe Mini is really REALLY fun...when it’s got power. It drives my wife nuts because it's loud but my daughter and I have a blast so far, but between the battery issues, limited software, and the clunky power setup, it feels like a really nice looking first-gen product that’s still figuring things out. There’s a really great idea in here, and I hope they keep pushing it forward.

A TV with a baseball hoop

What would happen if we were to put a basketball hoop on the front of a TV? You get the huupe mini smart basketball hoop game console. It is certainly fun, and my grandsons thought it was very cool to see their score as well as stream a movie. My son liked that he could stream the NBA playoffs. It was nicely packaged, and it was easy to attach the hoop and back door frame brackets using the provided wrench and screwdriver. It took overnight to charge the unit using the provided USB-C block and 13 ft cable. Once charged just turned it on, added the app to the phone and then followed prompts to finish setting up. Synching with my wi-fi network was easy. There are lots of options for games – some free and you can compete with others from around the world if you choose. It also comes with most of the main streaming options pre-loaded. Once I pumped up the basketball using the provided pump we were all set to play. I have to say that storing the needle in the pump handle is genius! Initially we just shot baskets, and it can detect distance as to whether it was a 2 or 3pointer. If also streaming the score is superimposed lightly over the screen. We played and streamed for 2 hrs. and had 46% battery left. Also, the room I setup the unit in had a 12-ft ceiling providing lots of space for those extra-long arcing shots. Tried in room with 8-ft ceiling and the loss of height did impact some shots. Rim is a breakaway, providing some security for those who might try to hang on the rim. The unit seems to be very sturdily built. Actual screen size is 19 inches diagonally (states full HD which should be 1080P – 1920 x 1080). The unit is 17 inches wide x 9.25 inches tall and a little more than 1 .5 inches deep (without rim). Not sure of weight but it is easily moved. You can use the phone app but there is also a small remote provided as well with on/off, selection control, volume, voice, etc. It has 2 8-watt front firing speakers on each side of the screen. A step up from laptop but not particularly great. It also has an HDMI input port to allow screen to be used with other devices. Only one ball is provided, and instructions indicate you should only use it for correct scoring. But I had a couple of very similar sized balls, and they worked fine. It would be nice if there was an optional wall mount so you could set the height of unit. Using standard door, the rim height is around 66 inches – a tad much for little guys/girls to get ball up to. All in all, a nice niche unit that is great fun to play. I would recommend it for those seeking something different to add to your gaming. Now if it could just help me with my jump shot……

If you love basketball or are just looking for a new way to add excitement and fun into your home, the huupe Smart Mini Basketball Hoop Game Console is among the most innovative and fascinating technologies to hit the market. Having spent considerable time with the huupe mini, here is my thorough, human view on what it is to genuinely live with this future small hoop. The huupe micro seems nice right out of the box. Measuring 22 by 17 inches, the backboard is a full HD display; the build quality is outstanding-durable enough to survive hours of play and the odd aggressive shot. The rim appears genuine and the included ball has a great pro grip texture that is fun to shoot with. Using the wall mount option and over-the-door hooks, you can set it up in a bedroom, game area, or even a home office in under five minutes. Setting up is simple: just connect to Wi-Fi, charge it using the USB-C cord, and you are ready to go. For a device packed with so many features, the first account setup is simple and the layout is fairly logical. The clever features of the huupe tiny really shine where Not just a hoop, this is a complete entertainment hub and game system. Measuring makes, tries, and even shot distance, the built-in sensors—no camera, so privacy is respected—track your shots with amazing precision using radar and LiDAR. It monitors your numbers in real time and can tell whether you're shooting from under 5 feet, 5–10 feet, or beyond. There are several interactive games and events including daily prize contests. Which adds a competitive and social element that keeps things fresh, you may play alone or compete with friends and players all around the world. The shot tracking is so accurate it knows exactly where you are firing from, so counting every shot. What actually distinguishes the huupe mini is its smart TV features. While you play, all on the backboard, you might watch Hulu, Disney+, Spotify, NBA League Pass, ESPN, YouTube, and others. Through HDMI inputs, you might even connect other devices. The speakers are acceptable; for a more private experience, you may couple your Bluetooth headsets. Since you can play hoops while staying up on games, listen to your Playlist, or watch your favorite shows, this is a wonderful multitasking tool for both kids and adults. Streaming while playing is groundbreaking and makes the huupe mini a center point for any family space or game room. Everyone of all ages will find the huupe tiny to be fun. My child appreciates the interactive activities and the quick feedback on their shots, while adults appreciate the workout and the opportunity to compete with friends or relatives. Daily tasks and global leaderboards among other community features encourage you to come back for more. it keeps your kids engaged and active, offering a nice variation from conventional video games. I personally believe it's a wonderful gift since your kids never stop playing. Indoor sports technology has advanced significantly with the huupe Smart Mini Basketball Hoop. Though not cheap, the combination of smart shot tracking, robust mini-games, and built-in entertainment makes it beneficial for basketball fans, families, and anybody trying to make their house more interesting and entertaining. Benefits: - Very exact distance and shot tracking Sturdy, well-made construction Streams all sports channels and key applications Many of interactive quizzes and games Easy to use and install Drawbacks: - Only one ball provided - Just three hours of battery backup - More costly than basic mini hoops If you want a little hoop that does more than just gather dust over your door, the huupe small is the most advanced-and entertaining-option available. This is a slam dunk for everyone who likes basketball or just wants a new way to play, compete, and connect at home.

It’s about time indoor mini basketball hoops took the next step and this gaming “console” from Huupe is a great example. It has a serious mini rim with a flexible hinge mount, and not only does it have shot sensors to measure your shot and track your score, but the backboard even doubles as a smart TV! Yes, you can watch the NBA playoffs while playing your own ball game, which has long been a teenager and man cave dream. And with sensors instead of a camera, there’s no worries about someone hacking the camera and snooping on your family. Which is huge, because the kids love it and I don’t want to worry about any creepy Black Mirror scenarios. So let’s get into game play. There’s free game modes and a subscription based one to beat high scores and win daily prizes. I haven’t played the latter, but the prizes are intriguing. Fortunately, the free games included are more than enough to not need the subscription. Huupe City Royal lets you challenge other people online in the Huupe community, there’s a local multiplayer challenge to battle the people around you, and there’s solo play as well. All are pretty fun, but you’ll need to be within WiFi reception for City Royal. Which I knew I’d have fun playing, but didn’t realize how much fun. You can’t even talk to them, but the only message that matters is how many points you both scored. And if your environment is limiting your true potential (low ceilings, too much furniture, too many fragile things, angry family members), it has an internal rechargeable battery so you can move it around or even outside if you need to. The door hinges it comes with are sturdy, but the screen also has TV mounting holes if you want a more custom placement. Should you get the Huupe Smart mini basketball game kit? If you love ball and want to introduce some physical gaming fun to your family or office, absolutely! The sensors automatically track your shot distance and scores without the potential of creeps hacking. It’s safe for the kids, and legitimately fun for the whole family. PROS - Rechargeable battery - Sensor based system (no cams to hack) - Doubles as a SmartTV - I actually watched basketball while playing - Fun for the whole family - Can run on built-in batteries or plugged in - Comes with everything - TV mount compatible - Well built and sturdy - Rim mount flexes - Challenge against people online or set in-house scores - Comes with remote - Love the fire icons when you hit 3 shots in a row CONS - Poor sound quality - Hard to see menu selection sometimes - Better for rooms with high ceilings - Remote lags a little

Probably one of the cooler tech devices out there. This is way above and beyond the normal mini hoop set you got from the toy store in years past. This is the updated version which gives you a better shooting experience with the addition of apps and streaming. No more using a cheap foam ball and plastic hoop. With this, those days are long gone. This update to the old classic has a metal rim, inflatable rubber ball and a TV screen to boot. The biggest attraction with this is the hoop itself. It's a "smart" screen with built in WiFi and internet connectivity. On top of just shooting hoops, you can stream TV while you play. You get the standard NetFlix, YouTube, Disney type channels so you can thoroughly entertain yourself while shooting hoops in your living room. On top of that you have the ability to play with people anywhere with the additional apps within the UI. Think of it like the App Store but with a basketball hoop. Yes, there is a pay-to-play aspect to this so it's up to you what you want to use. Using it as-is is great too from just shooting hoops or streaming YouTube or something. The unit is pretty hefty so make sure all the mounts are tightened properly. While you can use it on any door, I find that using this in a larger room, like a living room, works best since it allows you to have room to move and shoot properly. That said, great little piece to add to the man cave, or dorm room, to pass the time.

    Unrealized Potential

On paper the Huupe Mini (Mini) looks to bridge the world of mini hoops with that of interactive video games. It might, but not convincingly. It could be me though. I’m an aging Gen X’er who’s came of age with the OG Intellivision, and I’ve owned many major consoles since then. I’ve also witnessed the tech transformation of the arcade from a room of mechanical games like pinball, skeeball, and, yes hoops, to the current set up at places like Dave and Busters. I’ve seen a lot of tech pass through, and I think I have a feeling when product is “phoned in.” That’s the vibe I get with the Huupe Mini. But, yes, I could just be jaded at this point of my life having “seen it all.” When I first read about the Mini I was super excited. So much potential in an Android powered digital backboard with the latest sensors. I was dying to give this 2025 arcade version of mini basketball a try. Sadly, after using it, I feel Huupe dropped the ball. The software execution and variety of games or challenges is lackluster at best. Hopefully software updates will eventually show it’s potential, but right now in mid-2025 it’s a lot of missed buckets. I’ll get into the hardware and installation in later sections, by I want to expand on my use experience and thoughts on (recurring) playability first because I think that, not hardware or installation, dominates whether it’s something they might enjoy. USE & THOUGHTS The Mini has so much potential, despite some technical flaws, so my disappointment is chiefly in the quality and quantity of the basketball apps, something easily fixed by Huupe. I love the concept, just, as noted, not its execution. What I was hoping for was some kind of mashup between physical arcade-style hoops and video game antics in the old NBA Jam. In short, something that spices up mini hoops. A real hoop and ball, an AI TV announcer calling the shots and sending out dire warnings to beat the shot clock or buzzer plus everything possible with Android OS. Instead Huupe delivers three tired games/apps with the Mini (only two of which are no additional cost to play) that do nothing to exploit the Mini’s capabilities or make it stand out. I’ll give you a quick tour. First up is the “Just Huupe” app. As its name implies it’s just a digital backboard and time elapsed clock. You shoot buckets at your leisure and the Mini’s will tally them and sort into 1, 2, or 3 pointers based on the distance from which you threw the bucket. With all the tech 2025 offers it feels dated. An emotionless, robotic sounding voice curtly confirms if miss or make a shot. I fondly recall the NBA Jam video game’s announcer yelling Boomshakalka! and Man on Fire! That kind of excitement should be here, in its own unique form, of course. Rather, on the Mini if you hit consecutive shots all you get is a worn-out short and silent animation of fireballs like that’s the best Mini’s processor can handle. But also, I’d like the option for some sarcastic ribbing when shots are missed and maybe some crowd noise to make it feel like a video game. Stuff to make the Mini unique. The next game is an online one-on-one shoot out with other Mini owners. It randomly pairs players, but you can invite friends that own a Mini too. This game is a step up from “Just Huupe” because it offers a soundtrack and slightly better graphics. For example, if you shoot a brick a bunch of bricks appear on the backboard. Ultimately though it’s just a souped-up version of “Just Huupe”. But when I’m playing I don’t even realize I’m playing vs. someone else, and really don’t care since I don’t know them and can’t give them grief when they lose – or take it if I do. The final game is one I didn’t play because it requires a subscription even with the daily free-to-play option. The daily winner gets prize money, but that’s not something that interests me even a little bit. And, of course, if you are buying this for kids, that’s the last thing you want, especially with no way (that I’ve found) to remove or “hide” the app. I’m a bit insulted this kind of app in included with so much missing from the Mini. It feels like a cash grab because the included apps play like after thoughts. There is no app store, and I don’t know what Huupe’s plans are for additional software, but the Mini is begging for it, or at least an update to “Just Huupe” to make it user modifiable. After playing the included apps one of the first things I wonder was why isn’t there a game like HORSE where the app tells the player to hit a specifical point value shot to get a letter? There are so many basic things like this that should be here. A few other things come to mind. There is no specific game timer – say you want to set a quarters of a specific time. There’s also no shot clock or, of course, buzzer either. None of the element of basketball are here except the hoop itself. But also, its oddly designed for solo play. Obviously multiple people can share a ball, but unlike a video game, you can’t buy another Huupe Mini ball to use for Player# 2. What a huge miss there. Certainly the balls could be registered by one of the sensors or Bluetooth so the Mini knew who was shooting. After all, only the Huupe Mini ball can be used because of the sensors. I could go on with my nit-picks, but there’s limited write space here and I think I’ve made my point, so I’ll move on. Suffice to say, in short, the Mini, as it is now, is basically straight put the ball in the hoop, just with a fancy monitor backboard. While it has the chops to be innovative it’s not yet. I don’t really feel the steep premium over other Mini hoops sets is warranted at this point in the Mini’s existence. THE HARDWARE The “backboard” is a 19” 1080p LED Android “smart” monitor. It appears to be an IPS panel as it offers good visibility at any angle – something important when shooting hoops. It’s plenty bright too in a lit room with acceptable color. The speakers on the other hand are weak and tinny. Fortunately, you can pair Bluetooth speakers to the Mini if you want a boost in audio quality. A HDMI port on the inside bottom panel offers connectivity to an external device. Additionally, there is a USB-C port used to charge the Huupe, which has its own internal battery. If the battery dies while playing the Mini does work while charging too. Finally, there is a manual power button, but most of the time you’ll probably use the included remote control. The back has a 200x200 VESA layout if you want to attach to an optional wall mount instead of the included door hangers. The all steel (I think) rim is 10” diameter and really feels solid overbuilt. It’s hinged, i.e., break away so theoretically you could gently dunk it without doing damage, but the instructions specifically warn against hanging on it. Also included is a Huupe mini basketball and air pump. While the mini basketball looks like any other mini basketball Huupe advises only the Huupe ball will accurately keep score. So, you’ll want to keep it away from the dog. Huupe sells replacements if needed. ASSEMBLY Installation is a simple as securing the door hangers to the backboard with four mounting screws and then attaching the rim. The rim attaches to the backboard by tightening nuts to pre-attached bolts on the backboard. The Mini is now ready to hang on the door. All the tools needed are included. The doors in my townhouse are just 23” wide and there is just enough clearance to accommodate the Mini. Also, and this is not Huupe’s fault, but my doors don’t have much spacing between the top and the door frame. As a result, it’s tight fit and my door doesn’t close smoothly. So, if you’ll be mounting on a door check it to make sure you have the minimum clearance. Also, my door is about 80” tall which sits the Mini’s rim at just 5’7” off the floor. That seems low for an adult but it’s perfect height for kids. If you are buying this for teens or older you may want to consider mounting on a wall. SETUP & SOFTWARE Registration is required before playing and you will need an Internet connection. However, it’s less intrusive than other devices and “anonymous” registration with just a screen name is allowed. Huupe requests a credit card for their daily tournament, but this is not required, and the screen can be skipped. The screen interface is basic but intuitive. Unfortunately, customizations like reordering the apps or using a personal background photo or graphic isn’t available. Other than the aforementioned game apps, there’s a handful of streaming channel apps. Any of the streaming channels or video from the HDMI port can be overlayed on the backboard while playing. A push of the basketball icon on the remote toggles between video and static background. This works well and the video does not obscure the backboard markings. While the dozen or so TV streaming apps is a nice extra, the reason for buying, or not buying, the Mini is the three basketball game apps. And I’m sure many parents don’t want their kids watching TV while playing and the reason they are considering the Mini is to get the kids away from the TV screen. So, it’s a double edge sword. Other than this, the menu system has an option to connect with friends that also have a Mini and to go to the Huupe shop, though the shop isn’t an app store, but rather a portal to buy Huupe’s H-bucks for its daily tournament. There is also a settings app which, unfortunately, doesn’t allow too much to be changed.

The huupe Smart Mini Basketball Hoop is a welcome addition to the standard electronic gaming platforms we’ve all become accustomed to over the past four decades. Its revolutionary blend of technology and physical activity offers an engaging and immersive basketball experience in the comfort of your home or office. After removing it from the box it easily mounts to any standard door using the included mounts. The huupe Mini is conveniently wireless with a rechargeable battery if you don’t have an outlet nearby. It was very quick and easy to set up and create an account using the included remote control and smartphone application which allowed us to jump right in and start shooting hoops. The huupe backboard is equipped with smart camera sensors that can track the player's distance and performance to know how far away you are from the basket to account for one, two or three point shots. It can also record your shot accuracy percentage, speed, and overall progression. If you download the smartphone application, you can monitor your improvement over time, set new goals and see your scores and ratings compared to other huupe players online. This allows you to play with others not in your household or office making it a fun interactive and competitive experience. Not only does it allow you to play fun hoop related games, you can also use the display as a smart TV monitor for applications such as YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, and other streaming services and sports ah HDMI input as well. Overall, the huupe Smart Mini Basketball Hoop is an innovative, unique and groundbreaking product from a company that was clearly thinking outside the box to provide more interactive and immersive options to the game console industry. It’s a fun product to consider investing in, made for both adults and children, whether you’re in the same location or online with a friend, family member, co-worker, etc. My only complaint is it reminded me how much I still suck at basketball.

Such high hopes for this product to bring back the nostalgia and feel of that flimsy nerf hoop for me and my kids, but there's just a few major problems that hit the back of the iron instead of the bottom of the net. CLANK! 1. The battery and charging situation is bad in every way. The charging takes a LONG time via the supplied wall wart and USB-C cable. I'm talking Hours of charge just to let you turn it on and once its on, it drains the battery very quickly, maybe 2 hours tops while watching TV on one of the few apps. Huupe would've been better off making this with a more secure, always connected power supply or AC adapter running through a concealing conduit. Or, use a tablet that was more modern and less power hungry. If you don't keep it connected, it will just drain battery overnight so when you try to use it again, you can't turn it on until you charge it again for 30-45 mins. Really poor implementation and user experience. 2. The Apps are limited to what Huupe curates and loads. You can tell the tablet/TV is running Android from the settings fonts, but its heavily modified and there's no App store or ability to choose from a wider set of apps. While it does support many useful apps, such as Youtube, Hulu, Max, ESPN, you are still 100% reliant on Huupe to curate and push updates or add Apps. There's also a store where you can purchased Huupe bucks. This begs the question, what if Huupe decides they don't want to provide support for this device any more? Can they just brick your device or not push any more updates? I've had this happen before with Amazon devices and it really turns your device into a brick. 3. While the overall quality of the huupe mini is actually outstanding, there are some very obvious quality control issues. On my unit, there was some floating debris between the screen and the glass. There was also an issue with the foam/rubber border not being cut cleanly so that you could see it was not perfectly straight edges. 4. The integrated TV/tablet is slow/old. Its FHD/1080p and while it is rugged and durable, you can tell it is something that was cut down in terms of specs to meet this price point. Its inefficient which leads to the fast power drain and it has a small battery too, which doesn't help. Apps play OK but you can tell its low FPS (24 or 30?), and while you can plug in an HDMI source, I'm not sure its worth it given the limitations of the built-in apps and power drain. An updated tablet or TV would go a long way here but this is already pushing the budget for something like this, making it more expensive probably isn't going to work either. Beyond the glaring issues I mentioned, its not all bad news. The quality of the huupe mini is actually outstanding, from the backboard, integrated tablet/TV, mounting brackets, real inflatable basketball and especially the metal rim. Real nylon netting too that is good quality and holds the slows the ball after a made shot. Even the included USB-C cable is braided, long, and high-quality. The integrated game is basic but works well, with the camera tracking the distance and whether the shot is a make or a miss. My kids love it, they're younger but they wouldn't stop playing it the first day we got it, and when its not charging, they still like to play for a good 30 mins or so a day. A big bonus for any parent, the huupe has given them a reason to keep the floor clean in the playroom so they can shoot hoops! That alone is a score in my book. I really love the idea of the Huupe Mini but there's just too many faults and concerns to make it great. The battery/charging/usage situation really needs to be overhauled and taken back to the drawing board. Its going to be the #1 barrier to entry for people to actually bother turning it on and using it when getting it powered is such a drag. Then there's the concern about having a closed version of Android that may or may not get updates in the future if the product was discontinued or whatever.

The huupe mini is a fantastic over-the-door basketball hoop with smart interactive gameplay and a built-in screen. While it brings a fun and solid experience overall, it does have a few limitations that are worth noting. Pros -Large screen, colors look good -Can overlay a score tracker on streaming apps by pressing a dedicated button for the tracker on the remote, perfect for watching content and hooping at the same time. -Accurate sensors -Material overall feels like good quality -Multiple game modes including online multiplayer -HDMI port -Installed apps include: YouTube, Spotify, Disney+, TNT, Hulu, TBS, TruTV, CBS Sports, Prime Video, NBA, ESPN, and MAX. Cons -Speakers sound just ok - a bit tinny in my opinion -Remote doesn’t have a media play/pause button -No Netflix app, and can’t add or remove apps -Content with dark scenes are a little hard to see and the screen’s viewing angle feels slightly limited. -Apps can be a little slow sometimes -Screen scratches very easily - I used a microfiber cloth to wipe some ball prints off and it left very small scratches all over. -Manual states to avoid using the screen while charging. -Not really a big deal but when the ball hits the backboard it makes a loud thump (may bother people who are sensitive to noise). Overall, despite some limitations, the huupe mini is a fun experience with multiple game modes - the ability to stream content while hooping makes it great for both solo and party play.

This huupe mini is pretty cool. I really didn’t know what to expect when I ordered it. It looked like something my son and grandson would love to do together, and I was completely right. They have a blast. In the box is everything one needs to get started except an internet connection. You get the huupe mini, remote control with batteries, the hoop and net, the door brackets, a ball and an air pump. You also get the screws, wrench and screwdriver to put it together. How cool is that? The charger and a usb cord are also included. Setup took no time flat. It was on the wall and set up in less than 3 minutes. The huupe runs on an Android operating system, and you can download apps on it too. It comes with preinstalled apps like the challenge app, the royal Hoop app and several streaming television apps too. The speakers are good on this and I could clearly hear everything that was being said. The screen clarity was awesome. Everything was clear and brights were bright and darks were dark. I have no complaints about the screen at all. It took my son and my grandson throwing the ball at it pretty hard at times. The games and multiplayer games were fun. My son made some friends and will be playing it more than my grandson I’m sure. Nonetheless, this will get a lot of use.
