I got this on a sale price of $50. Purchased because my otherwise great TV has no built-in sound. Connected by optical output from my TV and get decent sound results. You won’t be impressed with it in your Theater Room, but it worked fine for our setup in a bedroom.

Sound Is Fine But The Remote

I really like the sound this give to my TV but the Remote is Absolute Garbage...I can take the Battery Out put it back in Tap it a Couple Times and it will work from an inch away...Beyond that distance it just does not work. I use this set up on my deck and I can’t relax as to turn this up and down or do anything with the Remote I CAN’T....Waste of Money without a Serviceable Remote. If I had the Box I would return the item but I have had success with the Insignia brand in the past. Not this time. Probably won’t be trying the brand again.

Decent sound bar for the money

I purchased this on sale for $49.00 I really like the sound difference as compared to the TV speakers - big difference! I would like to see an optical digital cable included with this unit as most newer TVs do not have RCA audio output jacks. However if your sound bar is located near your cable box, which is not my case, you can use the RCA audio output jacks from it-I had to purchase the optical cable separately. As others have stated, the response from the remote to the sound bar could be better but it's not the remote that needs improvement but the remote receiver on the sound bar is is the problem. I know this for a fact because I programmed the aux button on my cable box remote to control the soundbar and it also seems to have to wake the sound bar up from an apparent sleep mode. Something I can live with as you cant expect perfection from a sound bar that cost this little. I can and will life with it because the benefits far out weight this one small area that could be improved. PS The code I used to program the cable remote to operate the sound bar was 10463. Naturally you don't have all the functions from the cable remote as you do from the units remote but it works Okay. I can mute, volume up, and volume down it. Hope this review avoids you any surprises if you purchase this unit. Averall I am happy with it.

This sound bar is decent and the price is right. I needed a sound bar because the insignia tv I had shot sound downward and it was hard to hear. I got this and a 6ft optical cable and mounted it to the TV. Only complaint is the power on/off with the remote is difficult to work. It takes several pushes to get the unit to come out of standby. New batteries didn’t help. I did purchase a one-for-all streamer remote as I was up to there independent remote between the sound bar, tv and Roku 3. The universal remote controlled the volume and mute fine but there wasn’t an option for power. Because the remote has a learn mode, I was able to set the TV power button to turn the sound bar on and off as the Roku will power on and off the tv. With the universal remote it still takes a few tries to get it to come out of standby but once on all is well. Because I use the Roku 100%, I manually programmed via the learn mode to use the channel up/down buttons to change the sound mode between standard and theater mode. I have no use for news sound mode so that was all I need of the original remote. I am down to one remote for all three devices and the sound bar works well.

Great sound, horrible respond time to remote

The sound is really great. Gives off some of the better sound compared to similar models and brands in my opinion. You won't be disappointed by the sound. And it's easy to plug in and and start working. The only con with this soundbar is that the connection to the remote is horrible. I have a Roku TV, so the volume is connected to the roku remote. I find that I have to repeatedly push the volume button for a good 30 seconds before it finally responds and changes the volume. I thought it might be the roku remote causing the problem in the delay, so I even bought an optical cord to connect the soundbar to the tv (meaning that because it is a more accurate connection, you HAVE to use the soundbar remote to change the volume and settings.) I then tried to change the volume using the provided soundbar remote and it still took 30 seconds to respond to change the volume. I even tested changing the volume pressing the buttons on the side of the soundbar itself and found the same issue. Its sad that this is the con because I truly love the sound that it gives off, just horrible response time to volume adjustments.

Alright let me preface this review with saying it is worth the current price for sure. I am a little miffed because the overview for the item clearly says "Includes 1 RCA x 2 and 1 optical digital audio." It does not include the optical digital audio cable and that is the way I was going to connect it to my computer. That is why I dinged a star. I will contact support and see if they send me one, if so I will edit the review. Alright now the review. The thing gets loud and I mean loud. I have heard a lot of the other ones in store but never tried this one. I bit on it because this is the lowest the price has been in well over a year for this one. The Honey app also can keep track of the price for you, just FYI. Its a useful browser extension. I have it connected via the RCA Cable. Which by the way it is RCA to an Aux-RCA adapter that is included. Even with it the soundbar sounds good. I tested out the Bluetooth with my phone. Mistakes were made and neighbors got a wee bit upset. I had my phone volume at max and the sound bar is max. It was very loud, scared our cats and even the gecko came out of hiding. It seems like the controller is IR so make sure you watch that when using it. For use as a computer speakers, it is way better than the 2.1 system I had previously. Obviously it is not as good as say a Bose but for 40 bucks, I say it competes to say the Logitech 2.1 system for the same price. The housing is plastic as you would expect. The LED's are hard to see so if you mount it under the a TV with a Rocket-fish soundbar mount, make sure you double check the input. The remote uses the cr2025 batteries, they are the flat ones. Overall I say insignia knocked it out of the park for quality and cost. Sure you can spend 100+ and get a better quality unit. But during a pandemic when money is tight, 40 bucks before tax is awesome for what you get.

I was looking for an "affordable" product to give me acceptable sound quality over the lousy TV speakers. The Best Buy sales person advised that this product is sub-par and often returned for "better" products. When pressed that the product reviews were generally good, she admitted that it was Best Buy employees that tended to upgrade. I found the sound bar exactly what I wanted for the price. It has three good options for sound settings. The volume and listening are hands above the original equipment speakers. We can hear and understand the dialogue. I only gave a 4 star because I know that there are better systems if you want to spend the same amount that the TV probably cost you. For the price, this is a great product.

    Simple, no frills soundbar

I bought thus soundbar for my mom as a Christmas gift. My dad passed away and since I’d be selling his receiver and 5.1 system, wanted her to have something simple, affordable, and that would get the job done. She’s at a point in life where she has the TV on a couple hours a day, doesn’t watch movies, and wouldn’t disseminate between something high-end and an entry level soundbar from BB. Therefore, this was a good choice. Again, for simplicity sake I grabbed this one knowing it doesn’t come with a subwoofer - she wouldn’t notice and if there was a sub she’d probably leave it turned off. No sub, no problem. The inputs on the back provide just enough for, AGAIN, someone wanting a simple set up. I connected the optical to her TV, connected the red & white RCA audios in to her turntable, and then connected her phone to the soundbar’s bluetooth. Two pieces of developmental feedback: 1) The remote is not great. Like many companies they skimp on making a remote that has any sort of ‘mmmmph’ to it. Does this remote get the job done? Yes. It’s just one of those remotes I can see many people moaning about. Also, the soundbar from as far as I was able to get the day I hooked it up, didn’t sync with her tv or cable remote. Therefore she still has her Sony TV remote, Charter/Time Warner cable remote, and the soundbar remote. It does allow you to switch sound outputs between movie, clear, and loudness. Nice to have. 2) When I hooked her turntable up, we got no sound out of the record player. Once I learned I had to turn the soundbar almost to maximum volume, we then started hearing her vinyl. When I flipped inputs to get back to TV it about blew our eardrums out because it was still near max volume. If you’re going to be a regular user of your record player and then toggle back to TV or Bluetooth, this will likely be a major annoyance. Then again, we could’ve had bad RCA cables. However, those were relatively new and the soundbar was obviously brand new. So, I don’t know what the heck is going on there. My guess is my mom is just not really using her record player much given this snag. Overall, I give this a 4 for ease, simplicity, a decent product design, and enough inputs to keep things moving. Docked a star for no HDMI, flimsy remote, the RCA thing I described, and the soundbar really just sounding very average. I’d recommend this to someone on a budget and/or who can live without the subwoofer and bells & whistles most soundbars come with at this point.

I was looking for a solution for a movie night my daughter hosted. I had a small projector but the speakers I pulled out of storage were rotted. Was looking for a cheap set of speakers to use with an old receiver but the associate showed me this unit instead as a solution. This worked out much better as it has different DSP modes, a remote, and 3.5mm input connection to match the cable I had on hand. It didn't hurt that it was on sale! This also has bluetooth, which allows them to play music when they were chatting between movies. It sounds great for the price and has enough bass even without a sub to keep them on the edge of their seats while watching horror movies.

Purchased one 8 years ago in Canada (slightly different probably due to previous model) and loved the sound. I also used it frequently to connect via phone and play music. After I moved to the US, I left the previous one at my parents place and just got a cheap RCA one here thinking it probably wouldn't be much of a difference. I never noticed it when using the RCA exclusively but comparing it with other soundbars side by side it was terrible. Decided to go back to this soundbar and couldn't be happier. I recently purchased a higher end LG soundbar with subwoofer for the entertainment room but for everyday TV use I still prefer this Insignia one.

Bought this online during Black Friday. Other reviews are correct regarding the remote. It does not work very well or at all at times. Other than that, found the sound to be of good quality for the cost and love the Bluetooth option for playing music, such as Pandora or iheart radio from my phone. Bought this for use with our smaller tv that occasionally gets used so this is perfect for that and did improve the sound. Also replaced the need for an old oversized radio we had in the room. Great space saver in that case.

I got this on super sale for 40 bucks and it was worth every penny. It was so easy to set up and the sound works great. Don’t think you’re getting some insane sound system. Remember you get what you pay for, so I was so pleasantly surprised with the sound and ease of use with this thing. It does exactly what I need to it do and helps protect my TVs sound. I don’t know why tv sound is so crappy and always seems to blow. This sound bar was great! Just don’t expect Sonos/bose sound when you’re paying these prices. Manage your expectations and you’ll love this sound bar. It exceeded mine!

I bought this for $40 bucks. Great steal! The fact that this soundbar has bluetooth really upgraded the value on this. The sound is very good for its price. Only thing and I'm not sure yet if it's just semi dead batteries that came in controller but I have to push power button like 5 times before it reads the signal to turn on and off. I'm not sure yet cause I didn't change batteries but even if that was the case, for $40 bucks, I really can't complain.

This is my second Insignia soundbar, I also own the previous model of this soundbar and they both work great and do exactly what they are supposed to do. They improve the sound of your TV compared to the internal speaker sound from most basic HDTV's. I have this one hooked up to a 50-inch LG 4K TV and going from internal speakers to the soundbar output I can definitely tell right away there is a big difference in clarity, volume, and overall sound quality from most audio content. I can understand what voices are saying better now. I haven't figured out how to control the volume from the LG TV remote so I'm just using the included soundbar remote. If you have an Insignia TV the Insignia TV's remote can usually control the soundbar volume without any kind of setup needed (my previous Insignia soundbar is hooked up to an Insignia TV and the TV remote worked instantly). I highly recommend not using the included cable but instead go buy a digital optical cable and hook it up that way so you know you're getting the best audio quality possible.

Built in TV speakers sound horrible these days...They are so bad, I honestly don't even know why TV makers bother to include them anymore. Thus, you'll need to connect some type of external sound source with just about any TV you buy to make it listenable. If you are on a VERY VERY limited budget or are just looking for some sound system for a spare room TV, this Insignia soundbar will work. Is it high end rich sound with great range and depth?...No, it's fifty bucks (on sale), so what are you expecting? It's very basic with very limited connections and features, and it's basically just designed to produce sound that's significantly better than weak sounding TV speakers. Bluetooth seemed to work fine when I briefly tested it over a limited range, but I'm using other (better) devices for wireless listening, and you probably will too. All in all, it does what it's supposed to for fifty bucks.

Couldn't be happier with this purchase. Set up in matter of a couple minutes, I am still trying to figure out how to get controls onto my main remote but that's my issue not the soundbar. For $39.99 I'm wishing I would have gotten it sooner. Unless you are expecting surround sound and theater filling (which you shouldn't) then I don't see why you wouldn't want this at such a price!
