Customers are saying
Customers enjoy the Roomba 690's excellent cleaning performance, ease of use, and pet hair removal capabilities. The app control and scheduling features are also frequently praised. However, some users find the navigation could be improved, and the noise level is a concern for a few. The small dustbin size and price point are additional drawbacks mentioned by some customers.

Horrible Robot
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This robot is not for large areas. I have to continuously remove from one location to the next. Oh and it stopped working.

Disappointing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It vacuumed the floor repeatedly even though it had already gone over that spot five times. Then it would finally vacuum the other spot and push the dirt against the wall most of the time. Then it went over the rug and showed an error message. The rug has minor grooves and is a little thick. I don't know why it would have a problem with that. I don't have the patience to figure out why, nor would I try another

The next step in the Evolution of the Romba
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our household has been using Romba robotic vacuums for more than ten years and through several different model generations. The reason we have continued to purchase and use the robotic vacuums is that they are an overall time saver and have improved over the years. Our home has pets (cats) and about 50% carpet with the rest tile. Carpet and pets causes a significant increase in maintenance on the romba and our upright vacuum. For the model 690 Romba there is about 5 minutes of routine maintenance to empty the dust bin, vacuum the filters with a hand vac and cleaning the pet hair out of the brushes and spindles each time it's used. When the Romba is used every few days on a regular basis. The time savings with the model 690 Romba is that it will clean a room without further human interaction, in our home that is a time saving of about 2.0 to 2.5 hours a week for a carpeted large room and hallway (420 sq. ft.) over using the manual vacuum for the same area and cadence. The new Romba 690 is very much like the Model 650 button programmable version that proceeded it, they share the same filters, brushes and soft rubber extractor. The 690 adds WiFi connection and I think some minor tweaks to the mechanism that reduce pet hair accumulation on the spindles making maintenance slightly easier. The Irobot Home app I installed on an Android tablet allows you to connect to the Model 690 via WiFi and start a cleaning job, cancel a job in progress, issue a return to dock command, monitor elapse time on the current job and battery level. The app also keeps a history of jobs and usage time, can help locate the Romba if it is out of sight under a piece of furniture. The app makes programming the Romba with a daily/weekly cleaning schedule which can be done with buttons on other models but is much easier with the tablet and the WiFi connected models. More expensive Romba models with different sets of sensors can interact with the app with added capabilities such as reporting dust bin full, and with larger jobs to interrupt a job to recharge the battery and then resume the job. I understand that the Model 690 can also connect to several home automation hubs and accept spoken commands but have not used that capability yet. I have recommended Romba 690 to friends and relations as one of the more cost effective robotic vacuums currently available from Irobot.

Easy setup, vacuum while you work...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me preface this by saying this is not my first Roomba. I have been sold on the concept for at least the past few years. What is new, and brings robot vacuuming to a whole new level is Wi-Fi connectivity. Within minutes of plugging up, I had the robot accessed through my iPhone through our home network, and was able to quickly set up a schedule to have cleaning done a few days a week while I am at work. If something comes up, I can access the device while at work to either cancel a scheduled session, or add a new one – brilliant! As I have become accustomed, the unit itself works marvelously, slowly but surely covering the entire floor, returning to its base station to recharge as needed. All I have to do is remember to empty the bin between cleanings. Awesome!

LOVE IT!!! WOW!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never leave reviews, but had to for this. Wow, can I just say that again....WOW! I am in LOVE with a robot!!! (This was a Christmas present 2017...I had mentioned I wanted one, but knew it was a lot of money so I never expected it...from my amazing hubby!) You must have 2.5gh wifi (won't work with 5gh) and a smartphone with wifi access. We are a FOUR (3-large Dobermans, 1-min pin) dog household. We have hardwood floors, tile floors, and randomly placed, various sized carpets/runners. We have a pellet stove (makes a lot of dust). We have a pretty open floor plan but do have a lot of baby gates around the house for our dog with mobility issues. We have couches, chairs, stools, a chaise, etc. This robot (We named her "Rosie" after "The Jetson's" maid), has done an amazing job! I (43 yrs old) have OCD and "require" a very clean house; I have unrealistic standards for cleaning! :-) I can honestly say that I am very happy with her performance! She has not got stuck at all, and I've seen her clean around a stool and enter a room with a narrow opening! She maneuvers around all our random carpets and all the furniture with ease! She is kinda noisy and she sounds like a bumper car sometimes, BUT she is waaay quieter than I am (lol) using a regular upright vacuum and in general is quieter than ANY upright vacuum I've had. So that's NOT a complaint in my opinion. She hasn't marked up any furniture by bumping into it. She has bumped into our dogs and our feet quite a few times if we are in her way, and it doesn't hurt or bother the dogs or us. The dogs ignore her. I have three areas that are separated with baby gates. I have dog beds in two rooms. All I do is put the dog bed on the counter and pick her up and put her in the kitchen with the gates shut. When it's done it shuts off and notifies my phone. I pick her up and put her in the bathroom with the gate shut, etc. I also have to take her upstairs and lock her in the bedroom, lol. Again, when she's done she "texts" me thru the app. After she cleans those small sectioned off areas, I put her on the floor, hit the home button and she docks herself (funny to watch her try and find it - sometimes I wonder what it's "thinking" because she'll sometimes take a few minutes to get home. She then sits there and charges until 8-9p when she's scheduled to clean the largest area of the house. The living room area is where we spend 90% of our time. It comes with ONE little portable tower that beams a signal to not go past that imaginary line or circle that it "beams". It's battery operated (includes 2 AA batteries). Great for stairs and areas you don't want it to enter. I have an area that has a drop off of about two inches to the floor. If she fell off that she'd be ok, but she wouldn't be able to get back in that area. The tower is put there and she stays in that area! The app is simple to setup. Basic app with scheduling features and data about each job. I empty the bin after each job and make sure the filter is clean. I clean the people hair off the rollers every other day (easy to get to all the parts). I have NO complaints. I do wish it had the ability to control it like a remote-controlled car, lol. If I want it to do a specific rug only, I put my foot where I don't want it to go and control where it goes manually that way. As a clean-freak, I am relieved at how much time this saves me, even with having to pick her up and put her places. I love how clean the house is. I love that I can do other things while the house is being cleaned!

Returned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had trouble from the beginning. The tab protecting the battery connections was already pulled out and outside the plastic bag. I suspect it had been returned before. It wouldn’t connect to my network or return to its base. Nothing worked correctly. I was very disappointed and opted to return.

Time and work saving must have for pet owners!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have 4 pets in a relatively smaller home. 3 cats and one dog. They shed and generally need to be cleaned up after daily. This roomba robot vacuum is a must have! Push the button and let it go... It does not take away the larger cleaning needs to be sure, but it certainly is a huge help in keeping up on the pet hair and other dirt that finds its way to the floor, under couches, and in odd corners without the effort of daily vacuuming. If you have pets or kids, I strongly recommend this product. It is a very nice and reliable machine that keeps the bigger cleanings a little smaller.

Afraid of the datk
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum will die under the bed because if it sees a dark are it thinks it’s a drop off and stops... and stays there till it dies. Also cleans in a random pattern rather then a back and forth pattern. A complete waste of time and money!

Great entertainment for my kids too. They put oogly eyes on it as it scared them at first. Great on carpet and tile. Coming on 4 years since we purchased back in 2019. Still kicking.

A luxury item, for sure
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm still debating on my opinion of this Roomba. This is the first one we've ever owned so I really have nothing to compare it to... other than a regular vacuum cleaner. It was very easy to pair with an iPhone, however I had some difficulty paring with a 2nd device - an Android phone. One thing that's really cool is that we connected the Roomba to our Google Home. Now we can simply ask Google to tell the Roomba to start/stop cleaning. Does it clean the floors? Yes. It moves very easily from tile floor to most carpet. We have fairly thick carpet in one bedroom that seems to prevent it from entering the room. We have to pick it up and put it in the room if we want it to clean in there. It does also get a little stuck on the corners of our rugs in the kitchen. I'm not sure if it still needs to learn our home, but the path it takes is not a very efficient one. During a cleaning session, it will go into our office 2-3 times... once is enough. I sort of expected it to have more of a pattern when cleaning rooms. It seems to randomly criss-cross a room before going into another room. Consequently, I'm still finding myself grabbing our vacuum cleaner to completely clean a room. Oh yeah... I don't think our dogs like it very much, and seem to be irritated by it. They are 11 and 13 years old and the Roomba disturbs their rest every time.
