Customers admire the Roomba s9+ for its self-emptying feature, which eliminates the need for frequent dustbin emptying. They also appreciate its mapping capabilities, user-friendly interface, and powerful suction that effectively picks up pet hair. However, some users express concerns about its noise level, occasional getting stuck under furniture, and its relatively high price.

We have had our Roomba for a year. It is a huge time saver! Carpets get cleaned more regularly and I can do other things while it is running. Overall a big win for us. There are a couple of things to note. It doesn’t do well in cluttered areas. Once a week I pick up dining room chairs and stuff to let it do a through cleaning. But a couple times a week I have it do the high traffic areas. It makes a big difference. It does the whole main floor of our house. Our Roomba and dog have a love hate relationship. She sheds, Roomba cleans, she rolls on the floor, Roomba cleans. I think it is a maturing friendship. A couple negatives about our Roomba. If you leave paperwork on the floor, it will eat it. The program allows you to mark areas as “don’t clean” but it will occasionally clean them anyway. Shoelaces are like candy to it and it doesn’t mind trying to climb over a pile of clothes. Having said all of those things, I would buy it again and I love having it.

The iRobot Roomba s9+ (9550) Wi-Fi Connected Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum has genuinely transformed our home maintenance routine! This high-tech marvel is beyond impressive and has managed to outdo all my expectations. Firstly, the Wi-Fi connectivity feature is exceptionally user-friendly. The iRobot Home App allows me to schedule cleanings and monitor the Roomba's progress from anywhere. It has seamlessly integrated with our smart home system and responds to voice commands via Alexa and Google Assistant. The self-emptying feature is a game-changer! The Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal holds up to 30 bins of dirt, dust, and hair, freeing me from the need to constantly check and empty the bin. And the high-efficiency filter captures and traps 99% of allergens – a real relief for our family's allergy sufferers. In terms of performance, the Roomba s9+ provides unrivaled deep cleaning. The improved suction power, combined with the PerfectEdge Technology, ensures not a speck of dust is left in corners or along edges. Our carpets and hard floors have never been cleaner! Lastly, the battery life and mapping capabilities are excellent. The vacuum learns our home's layout, improving its navigation with each clean. The battery lasts long enough to clean multiple rooms before needing to recharge, and it resumes cleaning right where it left off once charged. The iRobot Roomba s9+ is, without a doubt, worth every penny. While the upfront cost may be significant, the time saved, convenience, and superior cleaning results are truly priceless. I would highly recommend this device to anyone looking to invest in a top-quality robotic vacuum.

Makes life so much easier when I can set it to go clean. Really appreciate being able to set up different areas. It does have some problems going onto area rugs and can miss cleaning the area at the edge of the rug. Appreciate the map feature and seeing the areas it concentrates on. Mobile app is easy to use and navigate. The tower is loud when it clears the vacuum so not recommended when sleeping

I was hesitant to spend the top dollar price tag on my Roomba for a long time. But, the more I looked around, researched, and weighed what I really wanted. I wanted a robot that emptied itself into a pedestal. That basically narrowed it down to three options. Of those three options the cheapest was a bagless option that I liked, But, I saw several VS. Youtube vids that showed the s9+ as having: *Biggest overall suction power *Wider brush than the lower iRobot option. That handled hair significantly better than that model. *upgraded UI that lets you set clean and no-go zones (A new feature) *Better edging and corner cleaning *A slower side brush that scoops particles into the cleaning path rather than tossing it all over at high speed. I asked myself... Yes, I could save a big chunk of cash and get the sensible model that had what I was looking for and probably be fine. I could get the middle of the road model that had stood the tests of time and been mostly satisfied. But, would either of those really make me happy? Would I always see margins of error and underperformance? So, I decided my long term sanity was worth some madness in purchase price, and bought the big one. I am very happy I did. It is smart, and user friendly. It does our whole house and stored multiple maps so you can move it around. It got so much crap out of our carpets our old industrial model steel vacuum cleaner missed that it clogged the pedestal the first time. Maintenance is super easy. It is built like a brick. The thing is a gem. If you can manage the big up front cost... I'd recommend it.

Nowhere near the hype that you would expect from "the top" robotic vacuum cleaner company's top of the line units (s9+). It frequently tears up carpet (even though the carpet is marked as an exclusion zone). It frequently picks up a sock or similar and drags it around the house (not itself a big deal, but then...) decides to choke on it at it's self-emptying base station requiring you to dig out all the gunk (a big mess) and at that point the sock may not be worth keeping. It'll pick up anything that is akin to a cord, wire, cable, etc. and gladly wrap it's cleaning brushes around them shredding them and requiring a replacement set of cleaning brushes. The latest fiasco with this product is that it came across a child's rubber bracelet and (of course) sucked it up but instead of passing it into the dirt chamber it worked the bracelet to the edge of the brush destroying the entire cleaning head. Not jamming it - destroy is the correct word. I could not disengage the cleaning brush release because it somehow destroyed the plastic retainer piece on the cleaning brush assembly shoving it (and the metal pin embedded in the brush itself) into the wall of the cleaning head. What makes this even more glorious is that unlike almost all the other times it has an issue and halts, this time it decided to scratch up the floor with the protruded plastic from the cleaning brush. Then there's the "AI" that cannot tell when it's shredding carpets, rugs, and other flooring covers. It also gets confused about where it's home is (charging station + trash receptacle tower). It will get home maybe 70% of the time, but if it ever gets confused plan on having to hunt for it yourself (probably under the most challenging object/obstacle). I hope that the algorithm is on par with my 2003 CS undergrad AI class which literally had a final project to write a vacuum cleaner optimization routine!!! And btw mine sucked (and so does the iRobot Roomba s9+'s AI algorithm). Next is the requirement for internet connectivity to function. Not a great design. Perhaps once to initialize and build the general mapping of your floor/areas, but as general upkeep? Poor software engineering is the only reason this is a requirement (except for their spyware that may use the camera to send images/video feeds from your residence to 'the cloud'). That's just the general quality of the S9+. Then there's all the expensive forced-purchases to replace brushes and cleaning rollers. Add about $200-$220 a year and the (now, for me to due this latest situation) repair costs of about $140. I tend to buy top of the line and expect pretty good results, but in this case this is one of the worst purchases I've made. I would not buy it again. I'd rather buy cheapo $300 units that I throw out each year and always guarantee an updated release.

My first robot ever and it was a long time coming. After lots of research I made the decision on getting this model because it was powerful, had its own dumping bin and from reviews very good customer service. The iRobot s9+ has awesome technology: a. allows it to map out multiple rooms in your house b. set keep out zones c. spot cleaning mode d. an app that’s easy to understand e. voice control capability f. when done with a cleaning job it empties it’s dirt into a bin g. scheduling iRobot to clean whenever you want 1st tip : Give it training runs first so that it will learn your rooms. You can have it clean as it learns it’s just battery power will diminish faster. It’s ok if it does not finish because it will return to its home base then return after recharging to finish up. However training runs will take 3 or 4 runs before it produces a map of that room so be patient! 2nd tip: when you normally vacuum you move your stuff around and vacuum. You need to do the same thing. This is not a 100% plug and play or set it and forget it type of situation. The iRobot once it maps will easily vacuum but it stuff like cords, doggie toys, other objects are in its way it may get stuck or confused. Final overview: I have been using iRobot for a little over a month. I have had it clean via schedule, thru the app and voice control. All work really well except the voice control is a bit awkward because even though you say, Alexa, ask Alice ( yep from Brady Bunch ) to clean laundry room” the Alexa response is to ask you what rooms to clean. No biggie just a bit redundant for me. With loads of features, great tech with a powerful cleaning ability at this time I will recommend it. Drawbacks: So far none other than price, but as they say you get what you pay for.

    S9+ Vacuum Roomba Review

I’ve just bought an open box S9+ and is currently not up to my standards, I also own the J7+ so this is what I’ve been comparing it to. I’m not sure if I bought a lemon of a unit; however after setting up the Roomba S9+ for the first time which was an easy process, it needed to go on an initial mapping run of the house. It did not make it past the first initial mapping run. I kept getting error code 9 which is a stuck bumper. The Roomba never stopped spinning after it got off of its charging home base. The Roomba is non-operational and will be returned tomorrow under the 14-day return policy. If you decide to go through with this purchase, make sure you get a warranty.

I have had my iRobot Roomba s9+ for almost a year. I switched from other vacuum that I have had for two years. The most convenient feature of this vacuum is the automatic dirt disposal, you won't have to care about emptying the bin of the Roomba s9 for some time. It has some convenient features like Smart Maps (you can train the vacuum to learn the sq footage of your house), then you can tell the vacuum to only clean sections of your house. The App works well with my phone. I paired it with the Braava jet m6 mop, and it has a cool feature where you can set up the Braava to mop after the vacuum has finished cleaning a floor. Something annoying that I have found in the vacuum is when it returns to the dirt disposal, sometimes the lead of the vacuum will open, this creates that the vacuum does not work until you close the lid. Is easy to use and if you have pets it will do a great work by collecting must of the hair.

Great robot vacuum, It navigates really well and has great suction, also has a mode for safe drive so it bumps into things less often. The only drawback I have found is the sensors often get dirty and require cleaning. Otherwise the brushes and everything seem to last for quite a long time. It gets into the corners well, better than my last Roomba. When paired with the mop you have an unbeatable duo.

I was shocked at how great this works! We live on a farm, with three large dogs. One being a Newfoundland. It takes a few days for it to map the area. But once it does, it’s amazing! I bought another for our main floor. This saves me so much time and energy that can be used elsewhere.

This iRobot-Roomba is as good as advertised!! I’m impressed with the technology and the work horse attitude this unit has. I have hard wood floors and carpet. The Roomba can tell the difference, when it goes over the carpet, it turns the vacuum on high, when leaves the carpet and goes to the wood floors, it idles down the vacuum for the hard wood floors-you can literally hear the difference. Finally, when it finishes it’s tasks, this Roomba goes back to its base automatically empties the Roomba unit into the base!

I love this vacuum. Perfect for regular tidying up but not enough to replace a full size vacuum for a deep clean. I have 2 dogs and this keeps up with most of the dog hair. The app is easy to use and works in conjunction with the braava mop robot. Replacement parts are pricy from Irobot but 3rd party parts of Amazon work just as well and help you save money. I would suggest purchasing a mid tier model as this one is definitely a splurge and really only worth the price if you are willing to pay a premium for looks. It functions just as well as my j7 that is this minus the looks and the extra bells and whistles.

Make sure you allow 2-3 mapping runs first (not cleaning runs) then it creates a map. From there, you can set zones where you do and don’t want it to go and it works PERFECTLY! Its amazing how it “knows” where to go! It does have quite the suction so i would not let it go on a wool rug. (Which is why i made a no go zone) but it stays away now! Love it!

Love it. It is definitely worth the cost. Initially it took a while for the Roomba to map my home. It was constantly running into walls and seemed to be going to the same spots over and over, but after about 5 or 6 mapping runs, it worked like a charm. I’ve seen reviews where people complain that it’s too loud. It’s a vacuum. It’s going to be loud. It works well over my carpet and tile. When it senses carpet, it switches to a higher gear. You can literally see the vacuum marks on the carpet so you know it’s really suctioning well. You are able to program off limit zones to prevent the Roomba from going into certain areas. I like the fact I can touch up vacuum in areas and prevent lots of dust and cat hair build up. If the bin gets full, the Roomba will stop the job and go to the base to empty. Once emptied it will go right back to the spot it stopped previously. My bag hasn’t needed emptying yet so I’m not sure how long they last. Supposedly the Roomba app tells you when the bag needs to be changed. We shall see.

I bought the S9 to replace an I7+ Had trouble making its way back to the dock. The S9 does a much better job around the edges and corners. It also seems to do a better job in the floor pattern it’s covering so that it doesn’t leave untouched floor. I used the walls from previous iRobots to keep it from going where it shouldn’t until it created a map of our house. Once the map was saved, I drew in a no go zone and it doesn’t go there. It Miraculously runs until full (dog hair and even all the smallest grit), empties, then continues until the battery runs low, then it recharges and goes again until it has finished the whole house. iRobot updates their software regularly, with continued improvements. I did have a error code that indicated a motor problem. It was still under warranty. iRobot sent me a brand new machine to replace the faulty one and had me send back the old one. I am very happy with the S9 and I’m now contemplating the iRobot mop.

I've owned a number of previous Roomba models, including the 980 and i7+, and the s9+ was a huge disappointment. It is fine on hardwood floors and low pile carpets, but it catastrophically fails on our high quality plush new carpet. Whenever the s9 encounters any kind of adversity while on plush carpet, it very quickly thinks that it is stuck and calls for help. We have tried patiently for weeks and done everything we could to help this model succeed in our home, but it's no use. The s9+ is so bad on plush carpet that it will frequently get stuck facing head first into walls. It drives into the wall, grinds it wheels stubbornly for a few seconds, and then stops and cries to help.

I purchase this unit on Oct 22, 2020 and by the end of Nov I had returned it. The first two weeks it worked as it was suppose too. It does very well on tile and wood floors. The bedrooms have carpet and it seem to have a hard time making the transition. The best part was it empties itself out. Here is the reason for the 2 stars. In mid Nov, it stated error 31, which is a communication error. I called Irobot tech support and followed their instructions to reboot the unit. After several days of trying it would never reboot. I was told to just push the clean button and it would still vacuum. But it would not move and kept saying error 31. After many days of the S9 saying error 31, we returned it to Best Buy and purchased a different brand. Irobot sent an email days later saying the unit had to be replace. They shipped a replacement to us, which we then sent back to Irobot. Their customer service was difficult to get hold of, maybe because of the current environment or holiday and they did send out a replacement, but we had already returned the non working unit to Best Buy.
