Big upgrade to the 1000s. They are just tiny bit louder and hit little deeper than the 1000 but not by much. But if you are into the light show these are solid. Also the bluetooth connection whit your phone and on party mode connection with other speakers is drastically better than the 1000s. You can walk anywhere around your place with the phone and the connection wont stop unlike the 1000s. Highly recommend. I dont know about 1700 a speaker but for 999 which i got it for its absolutely worth it.

All around this speaker is definitely worth the hype. I purchased this for hosting minor events but ended up with way more than i needed. Definitely loud enough for whatever you may be planning. A definite buy....
