My first set of KEFs and they are sweet!

These monitors dropped in price and I always wanted to try KEF out. So glad I did! I'll spare you all of the audiophile blah blah blah. I had an extra Sonos amp that pushes 125 watts per channel and decided to drive these 2-way speakers with that amp at my desktop for near-field listening. For $350, I can honestly say these are some of the best speakers I've purchased in my lifetime. The walnut enclosures are impeccably built. The sounds stage is wide, the highs are not too harsh, the mids are decent, and the lows....well, add a sub if you need it. Personally, I love them just the way they are, although I did turn up the bass a little in the Sonos app. Yeah, I know what you're thinking...Sonos....ugh...but it is just another speaker purchase to satisfy that "urge" of more equipment : ) I would highly recommend these speakers if you have $350 quid laying around! Enjoy.

Kef Q150 - Impressive Soundstage and Clarity.

As an avid audiophile, I'm always on the lookout for speakers that not only deliver exceptional sound quality but also offer a captivating listening experience. The KEF Q150 bookshelf speaker certainly caught my attention, and after spending some quality time with it, I can confidently say that it exceeded my expectations in many ways. First and foremost, let's talk about the sound quality. The Q150 produces a remarkably clear and detailed sound that immediately draws you into the music. Whether you're listening to delicate classical compositions or bass-heavy electronic tracks, the speaker handles every genre with finesse. The Uni-Q driver array technology truly shines here, seamlessly integrating the tweeter and midrange driver to create a cohesive soundstage that's both expansive and immersive. I found myself rediscovering my favorite songs as the Q150 unveiled nuances and subtleties that I hadn't noticed before. Another aspect that impressed me is the speaker's imaging capabilities. The Q150 delivers a precise and accurate stereo image, allowing you to pinpoint the location of instruments and vocals with remarkable clarity. This is particularly evident in well-recorded tracks, where the speaker's ability to reproduce spatial cues adds a new dimension to the listening experience. Build quality is another area where the KEF Q150 excels. The cabinet feels solid and well-constructed, with minimal resonance even at higher volumes. The sleek and minimalist design is also a plus, making the speaker a stylish addition to any room without drawing too much attention to itself. In terms of connectivity options, the Q150 offers versatility with both traditional speaker wire connections spade, banana plug, and bare wire. This flexibility allows you to tailor the speaker's connection to suit your preferences and existing audio setup. While the KEF Q150 undoubtedly impressed me in many ways, it's not without its drawbacks. Some users may find the bass response to be slightly lacking, especially if they're accustomed to more powerful floor-standing speakers. However, this can be mitigated to some extent by positioning the speakers correctly and pairing them with a capable subwoofer if necessary. Alas the magnetic speaker grills unfortunately are a separate item and not included they currently sell for around $20.00 a piece. For the current sale price of $350.00 they should be included or the price of the Q150 should be dropped to $300.00. Overall, the KEF Q150 bookshelf speaker delivers an exceptional listening experience that punches well above its weight class. With its impressive soundstage, clarity, and build quality, it's a worthy investment for anyone looking to elevate their audio setup. Highly recommended.

These bookshelves look great without compromising sound. The finish is slighty satin white and the enclosure is sturdy and heavy. The Uni-Q driver is supposed to output sound at the same level so you can hear the lows/mids/highs distributing evenly. The clarity for movies are quite good and not too bright. The drivers do have a decent amount of bass for their size but I paired it with the RSL 10S subwoofer to reach the lows for movies. Got these at a very good price (open-box) and very pleased!

Parallel comments comming from other rel Tzero mkIII white. All share togheter sound excellent in my opinion. Just pared with these Kef q150 and WiiM amp. The needed bass well complemented and the low power amp from wiim amp. Supported from subwoofer. The complete system really low cost. And I’m Complet satisfied. Compared with old school this new approaches sound good and all in white and silver. Still testing in different small rooms and knowing how system work in integration.

I picked these up based off recommendations online as a good pair of near field monitors. I had been using a pair of single driver, full range speakers and a 4.5wpc SET amp that sounded amazing, but was lean on the lows. This setup worked well for me for many years, but more recently as I updated my work setup I no longer had room for the rather large amp. I originally set out to buy a newer small class D amp and figured I'd upgrade my speakers while I was at it. The Kef Q150 are a fantastic value when on sale for $300, but there are better speakers I'd look for at their full price. Build quality is not as nice as my previous speakers (Tekton Design 4.5) or my main speakers downstairs, but they do sound pretty good. The uni drivers provide fantastic soundstage and they work well near field as not all speakers will. I've used these speakers with 3 different amps and only one was a poor combination. First up was my 4.5wpc SET amp which is just so musical, and a touch warm which is common with tubes. This was a great combo as it toned down the uptick these speakers have in the highs. Next, I tried a sub $200 Class D amp and the highs just sounded too shrill and led to listening fatigue so I next tried with a Rega IO class AB amp and this was the best of both. More power than my tube amp while still not sounding shrill in the highs. I know this amp costs more than the Q150 at full MSRP, but it is a good pairing. Overall I would recommend these to anyone that has space and wants a near field setup. I'm presently using these on some Kanto desktop stands with either my Oppo BDP-83SE universal disc player or my MacBook Pro as source (USB DAC) to a Rega IO integrated amp rated at 30wpc.

If you have a smaller area in your house I would definitely recommend these. The kef speakers are definitely the best sounding speakers I’ve had that doesn’t break your wallet. I bought it for my record player along with the receiver. My next purchase would most definitely be the bass of kef. And better stands for the speakers.

Set these up first on 1970’s NAD 3020 Amp 20watts per channel. They sounded great with plenty of bass and beautiful highs. Currently have them in my office room, probably 10’ by 8’ space, paired with an 10” polk audio sub. For a 2.1 one set up. Using the sub Crossover, hooked up to sony receiver from the early 2000’s 75 watts per channel. Listen to varity of songs, but Tool’s song Reflection felt like a religous experience, i am in love and for $300 it was money well spent. Good or bad recordings sounds excellent through these speakers. The bass is tight, and clean sounded. You will want to rediscover your favorite music. Buy now, and jam out!

Great speakers over all honestly. I could’ve gone with the 6 1/5. But my place isn’t that big. That said even the 5 1/2 are crazy good. Amazing with music and great with movies. The best compliment I got so far is that when listening to music “you can actually understand what the artist is saying.” Keep in mind I’m using tidal and hard wiring my music. It’s so crisp and clear you can honestly hear the dialogue. And it does pretty good when it comes to high and lows. Now when it comes to movies I plan to use these as rear speakers in the future. I will admit when the action kicks in it does get loud. You can still hear the dialogue but I feel like a center channel will fix the little drowning I hear.

Nice bookshelf speakers. Sound way cleaner than my 8” Bose bookshelf although this speaker is a bit softer on the bass. I replaced my Bose with this using the same amplifier and you could definitely hear the difference. Beautiful speakers but beware, kids love to play with tweeters so make sure you buy speaker covers that are not included.

Purchased these as front speakers for our surround sound. They are clear and sound great playing music as well as tv audio. No they don’t sound like thousand dollar speakers but they are excellent sounding speakers for their price point.

Really great sound using an Audio-Technica turntable through a basic Sony receiver. Impressive, actually, considering the cost. Got a half off discount through the BB app. Plan to upgrade the rig over time, but these speakers have earned a permanent spot in the overall plan. Mids are clean, with enough crisp on the high end to stand out but not overpower. Bass is extremely solid. Very happy with the purchase.

This is my first set of KEF speakers, but will not be my last. Very solid build quality for this compact monitor. I use them mostly in a nearfield listening capacity (as desktop speakers) and they are fabulous. But they fill my medium sized room with sound regardless. Clean and crisp vocals combined with a more warm sound make it very pleasing to listen to these for hours at a time. Quite attractive as well. Couldn't be happier with performance and a great value particularly at the $350 sale price!

Pretty awesome speakers. I had these for almost two years now and I have since upgraded to the LS50 Metas. The single driver just means you can sit anywhere and it will still sound amazing, which was especially convenient for my setup at the time. It goes on sale often, so I would recommend you buy it when its around 300 USD.
