Customers frequently mention the wireless CarPlay, sound quality, and ease of use as significant advantages. Many also appreciate the backup camera functionality and the screen's responsiveness. While some find the price point to be high, the lack of HD radio is another area of concern for a few customers.

Great System, But Not Perfect

Overall a great system, and depending on what your needs are, may be perfect. Pros: excellent sound (a great upgrade from the stock radio on my 2016 Toyota Prius), excellent sound customization (equalizer and various other settings), fast and reliable features (wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay) Cons: more expensive than other systems, standard (not high definition) display, screen mirroring (both wired and wireless) do not work (apparently it requires Miracast which Google Pixel phones no longer have. If I had known this, I would not have purchased this system). Finally the size looks odd in my 2016 Toyota Prius.
On a side note, getting this purchased and installed by Best Buy was quite the process, but everyone who helped me was excellent (including the installer Elvin at Lakewood).

I've been using the Kenwood Dmx-9707s for a while now. I have it installed in my 2010 Ford F150 SVT Raptor. Pairs with the Mestro RR2 it retains the factory steering wheel controls. It also controls my HVAC and heated seats. Another cool feature is it pairs with the Escort Max 360c to give you live updates on the screen and also let's you adjust the radar detector settings on screen. Great stereo for sound quality. Has all the EQ setting and also pairs well with my High and Low amps. Crossover setting and many other great features.. Many camera inputs and also outputs. Everything you would ever need wrapped up into this unit. I highly recommend this stereo

For $800 I would hope for better. An advantage I do appreciate is wireless CarPlay, which other units at this range do not have. The trade-off is no HD Radio, a disappointment. Here is a brief summary of my takes on this unit. 1) Cannot seem to get rid of any glare, it reflects everything. 2) The screen is not 100% responsive to my touch. 3) It is not as bright as I would like, any attempt to make it brighter washes out the screen. 4) Buttons along the bottom are extremely nice and tactile. 5) Sound is excellent, and the many ways to customize sound lets it be tailored to most anyone’s ear. 6) Menus are easy to use and to locate things. Conclusion, the glare and screen inadequacies disappoint what would otherwise be a stellar receiver.

Works great. Self install takes a while. Wires are color coded differently than the PAC unit Best Buy sells you to connec to your car. But once figure out, it works well.
Sound sis much better than factory radio. Which is saying a lot. I loved my OEM sound 2017 Wrangler Mopar 430 radio. But this is much better. Ignore reviweres above saying otherwise. You have to adjust this to the preset equalizer setting snd crossover that you like. If you take the time to answer the on screen questions about speaker sizes and placements in vehicle you will be rewarded with great sound. I personally like the setting labeled Powerful with the bass extra turned on.
Touch is immediate reaction and wireless mirroring and Android Auto never lose connection.
Only reason I knocked a star is because is expensive for resistive screen, but if you use the display setting adjustment to tell it what angle you are viewing from, it will self adjust so everything looks good and is clear. Again ignore reviewer above who said can't read. Sounds like he didn't program right angle of his view.
Recommend.

I originally bought a new Boss radio with Apple play and used it for a couple of months. I was having trouble with my steering wheel controls from the wiring harness. I did some research and learned about the Meastro wiring harness for your factory controls. I then searched radios and found this Kenwood. Looking back even with out the maestro unit I could not believe the sound quality I received out of this radio! This stereo works great and is user friendly as well. The only thing I found that I do not like is if you shut this radio off you even lose the view of the clock. I guess that’s not the end of the world but I was surprised Kenwood done that. I even called Kenwood to ask if I was just over looking it. There is a way you can make everything other than the clock to go away but your radio has to be on. Other than that so far I have been very happy with it!

I'm not the poison to ask about specs. Due to my installation requirements i needed to choose a radio that was compatible with my install. This radio fit my budget and requirements and has absolutely delivered. My car came with the "premium" system from the factory but was always lacking. It also didn't come with all the features that are around now (namely Android Auto/Apple CarPlay). Not only is the sound quality incredibly better, I now how have all the amenities my new vehicles have. I can confirm that Android Auto works wirelessly, though i typically use a wired connection as it charges my phone at the same time. All in all I'd purchase this radio 100 times over. I'm beyond satisfied with everything it does. (Just to take some of the anonymity away I purchsed a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS and used the Maestro RR Interface and iDatalink Cam1 install kit. I did it all myself in my garage in about 2 1/2 hours.)

No optical drive, no problem! No issues with this head unit, very fast and responsive to touch. Switching between, music, phone calls, backup camera, etc very quick! Just wish there was a random/shuffle option for the my large library on the USB drive.
Love the wireless Android connection. Google Maps and GPS works flawless. I'm not going to keep the satilite radio, but it's cool.
If you plan to use the side view camera's and expect them to auto turning when you turn your directional on (like the backup camera and reverse), it will not work unless your vehicle has that as factory feature. Per Kenwood support.
Overall, if you are looking for a new head unit and you do not require a disc player; this is the one! The next model up cost an extra $150 and all you will receive is HD Radio and Wireless Hi-Resolution audio... Not worth it, my opinion.
DMX-9707S had Hi-Resolution playback with USB and Wired connection.

Excellent sound and features! Bought this to replace a JVC. Ease of use, sound control and screen are just some of the amazing features on this unit.
The only negative is that the buttons are small for my finger. I wish they were spaced apart.

Awesome unit for my 2011 Silverado! Replaced a 7 year old pioneer unit because I wanted apple CarPlay and I must say the audio is way better! I wish I had switched sooner. Wireless apple CarPlay and android auto is a bonus! Crutchfield says it doesn’t fit my dash but not true, it fits perfectly! A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. You can get the model down that doesn’t have wireless and save $200.

I upgraded from an extremely dated system. Took ten seconds to register my backup camera. OS was so counter intuitive to the point I didn't use it. This system was HUGE upgrade. Wireless connect is great! I had extra work done like back up camera, which comes on immediately! And I also had them install connection/power cord for apple/android in my cigarette lighter which I haven't used in 20 years in any car. NO WIRES is awesome! System connects to phone flawlessly. AND surprisingly there is a hidden DVD in unit which I found out after and didn't care about but hey, icing on the cake, right?

My wife wanted this kind of system for her 2012 Honda Civic. Yes it is pricey as well the additional parts you need to order prior to install. Believe the total with labor cane out to around $1100-1200, but she has been very happy with the system and how it had wireless connection to her iPhone.
