Great computer for engineering students

The university recommended minimum standards for a computer, so that was the baseline of our search. This computer is certainly going to get him though the program and then some factoring the increasing demand for RAM and space. Only issue we had was Best Buy elected to use Fed Ex to ship it. They are horrible and lost it, found it, lost it again, and finally delivered it the day before his classes began.

Legion 5i Pro 16” Gaming Laptop

It is 1: Light for a gaming laptop; 2: The screen is bright and clear. I am not a professional reviewer to know nits and the like but the picture works for me; 3: The processor makes for unitary fast processing and I plan to use it for msfs2024 Whereas this is not a major concern the speakers are weak in terms of sound production. Even at 100% it is not loud enough. In the end I am extremely pleased with this laptop and would highly recommend for purchase

After a long day in classes you need something that will hold its charge and after using this all day very little battery power is drained. When it is needing to be chargers it has a very quick charging time which is great for a student always on the go. Best computer we have purchased for college student. This computer is also used for gaming when the student has free time and he is very impressed with the laptop while playing games too. Overall a great computer for the price. Will be a great computer to get my son through college with.

Unfortunately bought after the hikes but overall I’m loving it. The battery doesn’t last off the charger which is to be expected. I mainly play Frontiers of Pandora and it runs like a dream. The only reason for 4 stars is the price. The price pretty steep. I’m not sure any laptop is worth that much but I got it open box so it helped some. Overall if you have the funds, I’d say it’s a pretty good option. Beware it is a fingerprint magnet.

We care deeply about your experience, and so we would like to recommend a few possible solutions to improve battery life.
Firstly, we recommend running and installing all available driver updates through Lenovo Vantage and Windows Update Settings. These updates are crucial to the device’s health and will affect power regulation, leading to improved battery life. To check for updates within Lenovo Vantage, begin by launching the application, then select the “Check for updates” button on the top right-hand of the display. To check for Windows Updates, start by launching the Settings app, then selecting the Windows Update tab on the left-hand side of the page, and finally select the “Check for updates’ button located in the top right of the page.
Next, the Legion Pro 5i allows you to change the computer’s thermal mode. This will allow your device to cycle between higher performance, quiet, or automatically adjust based on your needs. To start, launch the Legion Space app. Under the CPU and GPU Performance gauges, you will find the option to toggle performance profiles. We suggest using Quiet mode, which will reduce battery consumption, allowing for longer use. You can also toggle thermal modes simply with the Fn+Q hotkey.
The Legion Pro 5i also includes the option of controlling the “GPU Working Mode”. You can find this within Legion Space, just below the Thermal Profile modes from the previous step. This allows your device to switch between the integrated GPU and the discrete GPU. By switching modes, you can enhance battery life through the Hybrid-iGPU Only Mode, which will lower the power draw of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070ti graphics card or enhance display performance with dGPU Mode.
