Customers regard the picture quality, 3D features, and color reproduction of this 65-inch LG TV as exceptional. Many appreciate the ease of setup and user-friendly remote control, along with the value for the price. While some users noted that the local dimming could be improved, the overall experience with the smart TV features and HDR capabilities was largely positive. The abundance of features available was also frequently praised.

I was a bit hesitant from some of the expert reviews regarding black levels, but am glad I read further. The most helpful review was from PC Magazine. The picture is mesmerizing. I figured the 4K image would be super, but we were blown away by its 3D performance. It is nothing short of amazing. Of course the 4K is wonderful. We also got the 4K Samsung BluRay player. They work together beautifully. My granddaughter loves the Magic Remote. We got a really nice stand at Costco, and it was on sale! We couldn't be happier! We got the 65" version because the 75" one was so expensive. We would have liked the larger one, but couldn't justify the added expense. We love it!

    Best 3D Model Still Available

So, my 60" LG plasma died last month (after only 6 years) leaving me to begin the search for a new big screen television. I went to all the major websites to look at customer reviews, like Amazon, CNET, Consumer Reports, as well as here. It appears to me that Samsung, Sony, and LG are still the Top 3 in the market (followed closely by Vizio). I narrowed down my choices in the 60"+ screen models but ultimately chose this particular model for 1 reason - 3D capability. I love 3D (even if critics and manufacturers don't anymore). I have several 3D movies (which I enjoyed on my plasma), and I will now get to keep enjoying on my 65UH8500. Mine is wall mounted. I did do a new HDMI 2.0 cable run to ensure no 4k/HDR issues now (or in the future). At a cable cost of $1 per foot, the $50 investment for 2 new cables seemed obvious (thanks, Sewell). TV was officially unpacked and mounted last night. Be prepared to add spacers to your wall mount brackets. The screw holes on the back of the TV are very shallow and there is some curve at the bottom of the set. The bottom VESA mount holes are near this curve and will prevent proper flush attachment of your bracket to the back of the TV as well as push your bracket out of vertical alignment if you can attach them at all. Using spacers between the TV and the wall bracket ensured the mounting brackets remain verticle and attach securely. Wi-Fi set-up was simple and quick. Programming the magic remote to control my cable box took a few additional clicks but was not a hassle. Added my vizio soundbar using the optical cable and it connected immediately. If you are using a soundbar, do not press mute to silence the TV audio (as it will put an annoying mute icon on the right side of the screen. Instead, just lower the TV volume to 0. I have to say that picture quality is amazing. Unless you have the budget to go OLED, this is the best available (LG) model on the market (as I don't think the UH9500 offers any improvements to justify the hundreds in added cost). Enjoyed the UNC/Oklahoma State game last night (Go Tarheels!). Looking forward to trying out the passive 3D capability. Still plan on doing some additional research regarding calibrating some of the settings for optimum viewing. Photos are of my television. They show the menu screen with a Netflix movie paused in the background. All of that goes away for full-screen viewing with 1 click of the remote. Bottom line - Great first impression with me. Price competitive. Feature rich. User friendly. Best of all, still offers 3D capability. BTW - you get 2 pairs of 3D glasses with the TV. However, if you buy in-store (and ask), you can get up to 4 additional pairs for free (for a maximum of 6) without needing to buy any. Now 'Shhh' and pass the popcorn. The movie's starting.

After reading several rtings, CNET, and reddit reviews I decided to go with the LG 65uh8500 over the Samsung ks8000 and Sony x850 because of the fact that this TV supports both hdr10 and Dolby vision HDR formats. Picture is amazing, motion blur awesome, and the HDR gaming on my Xbox one s (battfield1) is out of this world!!! Anyone drawn between this TV and any other, go with this one. Unless of course if you can afford the OLED natural that LG has to offer....

I went to Best Buy looking to buy a Samsung suhd. For less money and 3D capabilities, I ended up buying the lg 8500. The colors seem more authentic than the Samsung. The black level, while defiantly not oled level did seem darker than the suhd. So far, so good. My grandchildren love the 3D feature. It's passive so the same cinema 3D Glasses work.

We watch all the Marvel and Star Wars movies in iMax 3D, when they come out on bluray their not as enjoyable. I thought a nice size 4K 3D TV would help and I was right. This TV is great I highly recommend it.

This TV has the best picture and sound quality of any TV I have owned or researched. The remote is very intuitive and easy to use. I prefer this TV's picture and sound quality over the highly touted Samsung and this one doesn't have to be curved for great depth perception and viewing from all angles.

As the title clearly states its suppose to be a "Silver & Black" TV they gave me a "Silver & WHITE" who wants a giant TV with a completely white back do you realize how dirty that's going to look! It was already out of the box and installed before i notice, "I did not install" and I did not want to take it down re box it take it back to the store take new one home and re install.....you can see my annoyance here.

Just upgraded from an older LG 55' 1080P 3D smart TV to this model. Wow, the difference is amazing. The image is crisp and smooth. Black levels are great, just an all-round great screen image. The features for the price are really what sold me. I get 4K, HDR, AND can still watch my older 3D movies. All while using the 3D glasses I already had. I know some people swear by Samsung or Sony, but I'd tell them to give this TV a look before making your decision.

Best 3d passive set available. We changed from a early model Toshiba 3dTV with active glasses to this LF UH8500. We prefer the passive 3d and wanted to purchase one before they were all sold out. The TV does not produce as deep of blacks as the Toshiba and the local dimming is not as good. The color on the LG and 3D are excellent. We have been using it with a LG sound bar but the internal speakers are better compared to our old Toshiba (20011 model). The one thing that the Toshiba had was a swivel base stand to allow for turning of the TV on the base. The LG like most new TVs do not allow for turning on the base and require turning the entire base. The 3 HDMI ports can be limiting as one of the ports is used for the HDMI ARC for the sound bar at this time. I may have to change it to optical and potentially lose out on sound quality in the future.

I got this TV as a warranty replacement for my Samsung that had backlight issues.. I got a couple free upgrades from 1080p to 2160.. Also upgrade to 4k with hdr. Anyway the picture is amazing. I'm a movie buff n loving this hdr. Also I like this passive 3d over the Samsung active 3d.. It just seems to b better for my eyes. Finally the sound is good. harmone kardone. I love this company. They make infinity also which I have infinity kappa speakers throughout my car so I already knew Itd sound good. Overall im very happy with this product.

Went to Best Buy with another brand in mind but due to size problem with size of stand started looking at LG 65 series 7700 and found stand slightly smaller and it would fit in entertainment center better. The Best Buy associate spent time with us and recommended the LG and showed us the operation and features of that set. He then checked and said that the series 8500 had a better discount (not a lower price but only a few dollars more to move up to a higher series) and that made the sale on the 65 series 8500 with a few more features such as 40 watt sound system instead of 20 watt system etc. We have been happy with the picture, the up conversion from reg 1080p to 4 k seems to work good and sound is good and now don't know if I would go to a sound bar or not. I have fooled a little with settings and tweaking the picture but haven't had time to do a lot with it and maybe can add to this review later. TV is 3d and we weren't looking for a 3d but I bought a 3d movie and will try that soon. The magic remote is great (I didn't think I would like it), seems to be easy to go thru the settings. I wish they had a better paper manual (poor manual) to describe settings, etc as the manual doesn't really give you any help or suggestions at all. Picture sharp, color great, picture great from the side, happy with tv (Super Bowl look good on tv) Not much 4k content (however a bunch on utube) but bought tv for the future as I hope we won't have to buy another for a while as we don't buy new for every change that comes along. I would recommend considering this tv.

From upscaling 1080p making it look nearly 4k quality to highly reducing input lag in "game mode" for video games, this TV has you covered on all fronts. The HDR function is not only incredible for true HDR content, but it's ability to add HDR effect to non-HDR content still makes the colors REALLY pop. LOVE IT! Last chance to buy a 3D TV as well, nobody is making them after all the 2016 models are sold out. Yes, my model had very slight light bleed at the top and a little bit of cloudiness on a very dark (nearly black) screen, but how often are you actually watching a grey/black screen? I only see this when I first start up a video game while the game is still initially booting up. When there is actually content on the screen, I can't see the light bleed or the cloudiness. The 1-star reviews for a little bit of light bleed seem somewhat ridiculous. I say if the light bleed seems overwhelming even when viewing normal content, take it back and exchange it. As far as the features and picture adjustment on this TV, I ended up choosing this TV over the Samsung KS8500 model, and one of the reasons being that it has even more picture-adjustment options than the Samsung. On top of that, The Web OS system on the LG is superior to Samsung's Smart Hub. Don't get me wrong, Smart Hub works as it should, but Web OS is even better. Plus, I love the mouse-cursor feature built into the LG remote as well. Only real complaint: only 3 HDMI inputs. I'm going to buy an audio receiver that supports 4k and HDR along with HDCP 2.2 to increase my HDMI inputs, but that's another $250-$500 I'll have to spend. I could just buy an HDMI switch, but the cheapest one I could find that supports 4k/HDR/HDCP 2.2 costs $70. Might as well replace my old (2004 model) home theater receiver instead. But if you don't need that many 4k/HDR inputs, then you could buy dirt-cheap HDMI switches on amazon for like $10 (and they do work, cuz I already have a couple of those). Regardless of that one complaint, the TV still gets 5 out of 5 stars from me. The Samsung picture was capable of getting much brighter, but I don't need a picture to be that bright (TV is being used in a dark room anyway, and regardless of what rtings.com says about this TV in a dark room, I don't see ANY flaws in picture quality in my dark room). I'm VERY happy with my LG purchase.

Great LED TV but with a caveat

The price and promo was great during the time I purchased. The biggest issue with this TV is: 1. Blooming around words/objects when the background is black. Blooming is described as a luminous "cloud" seen around white/bright words displayed on a pitch black background. It seems most LED TVs have this and some provide electronics to rid this issue. I know of this issue and still bought the TV, 2. This is officially HDR certified, but does not have a native 10-bit panel, and uses a 8-bit panel with dithering technology. I cannot see any difference in quality when viewing the 10-bit panel UH9500 models (more expensive) side-by-side. 3. The other issue was, I cannot seem to pair a non-LG branded bluetooth keyboard. It seems to only work if you have an LG branded bluetooth keyboard. However, the key features I valued was, first, the great price/promo which I paid at that time of purchase and the below considerations: 1. Passive 3D (note in 2017, LG has removed the 3D features from all TVs) 2. During the time I purchased, it was the only 4K LED TV which had BOTH of the HDR formats (both HDR10 open source, and DolbyVision proprietary) 3. I wanted the white color backplate due to my home color/wall paint. Personal preference really. 4. LG's magic remote. This was a key feature. If you use a smart TV, you need a easy way to navigate and this was the best end-user experience.

I read some reviews for this Tv that were not flattering, particularly concerning the HDR and the levels of black and white. After having it for a few months, I LOVE this TV - we use the 3D feature all the time, and it's a great picture ... to my (untrained eye), the HDR (and Dolby Vision UHD) looks amazing! I highly recommend! Sound is great as well ... remote is a bit awkward, but it's feature packed and not hard to learn

I wanted to break into the 4K Ultra HD arena with out getting out of my budget. Also I just could not let go of 3D viewing even though Ive been told its not the HOT THING anymore. I LIKE IT! I found lots of concerns to worry about LEDs online. My First and biggest worry, Backlight bleeding, YouTube reviews on LEDs people have trouble with it, say your gona have to live with it. I simply wasn't going to. WHEW, Hey No problem on this one, not mine anyway. Second problem ( for me anyway ). I have DirecTV BUT I am not ready to pay for premium service to get what little 4K they have. Again No problem, my lesser service with my standard reciever comes in just fine HECK with the upscaling technology even better! 3rd problem for me. I live in no mans land and my internet connection is lackluster at best. Best Buys sales rep. to the rescue pointing out I could help my end on my network with a router upgrade. Yea, it helped! Problems behind me now what about liking this LG TV on its own merit. Well, YES, I do. I mentioned the 3D. My previous TV now 6 years old is a 50 inch plasma active 3D ( a great TV ) . With my family one reason 3D viewing has dropped off is active glasses. They are not cheap, and then there's batteries, replacing or charging, all just enough hassle to make you pause. THIS LG TV is passive 3D and now with greater clarity its GREAT, EASY, and IN EXPENSIVE viewing. What about WEB OS, and LGs operating system. I'm kinda GEEKY generally I don't mind navigating tech. WEB OS is simply a pleasure, it blends apps and control screens very seamlessly using the remote, man its just SWEET! How about TV Viewing, OK if I had the bucks I would have bought LGs OLED. I don't have the bucks, but let me tell ya I AINT DISSAPOINTED!! I watched a Friday night movie on a cable network channel I saw at the movies a couple of years ago and it was GREAT VIEWING commercials and all! I rented a 3D movie on DirecTV , tossed a pair of glasses to the wife ( I wouldn't have done that with active glasses ) and we were treated to a brilliant picture simple as that. OH YA, and then there's 4K! Ive downloaded several streaming demos and some shorts done by individuals all in 4K and watched them networked straight from my computer to the LG TV using LGs WEB OS with fantastic visual clarity! UH, Ya, I started out skeptical let me tell ya , but now I'm thinking I'm PRETTY PLEASED!!

I love this tv. It's one of the only tvs you'll find with 4k and support both HDR formats as well as have 3D. My kids love the 3D movies so i didn't want to lose this feature when upgrading. There is a little light bleeding on the bottom of my screen but this seems to vary from screen to screen and is not a huge amount.I suggest paying with the settings for a while and some video settings are under the "General" settings category ie local dimming. You're not gonna find a smart tv with this many features, that looks this good for this price. The only step up from this tv is the OLED with are super expensive. I own the 65in btw. Only complaint so far is I wish the stand tilted. Obviously it's not a big deal.
