Beautiful machine, but big, loud spin vibrations

The washer arrived on time, well-packaged, and is a beautiful design with appealing digital display. Since I live far from Anchorage, I had to pay for shipping and did not get the free installation. Despite following the directions closely and removing the shipping bolts on the back and leveling it perfectly, the spin cycle shakes, rattles, and rolls so much that the levels vibrated off the top of the machine during the test run and it was so loud!!!! The whole room vibrated and I didn't even run it on the top spin speed. I had a front loading commercial Amana washer for 24 years and this never happened and I grew beautiful plants on top of my washer! I called LG and they helped me troubleshoot and I will try to make the front feet a few quarter turns higher so that the nuts (bottom and top locking nuts) are separated and then elevate the back to compensate for the change and still be level. If that fails to change the situation I am told I have to order rubber cups to fit on the feet. Really? My floor is solid wood construction with a commercial vinyl and is level. Because I am far from Anchorage there is no service person to respond, so am not sure what will happen. I did purchase the Best Buy 5 year extension to the warranty so hopefully I can get this machine to behave. I ran a 22 minute turbo wash and it was ok, tho the soil and grass stains on jeans and armpit body odor was still there on the shirts even though I used an HE detergent to the appropriate level. I previously used to put some baking soda into the wash but it seems that the directions prefer liquids, so maybe I have to do more pre-treating. When it turns on there is an ascending scale of notes and when it finishes there is a descending scale of notes. I wish I could program a different song in this age of technology. I also wish I could reverse the door swing. I had to buy the stainless water hoses and they are so long that they keep trying to curl up in the tightly wound bundle they were packaged in. I was told that the warranty would be void if I didn't buy these water hoses, but my previous hoses were shorter and had built in mesh filters. So I will try to update this review when this vibration issue is resolved. But until such time, I would not be able to recommend this machine, even though it ticked all my boxes upon extensive research online and a 5 hour trip to Anchorage to look at all the top end large front loading washers available at Best Buy, Costco, Lowes, Home Depot, Allen & Pederson, and Pennies. Bottom line: when you drop a grand on a washer, it should work properly without having to spend this much time. But I am not giving up and I will update.

Great Stackable's - Delivery experience not 5 Star

I've only had them for a few weeks as it took three delivery attempts to get it right so my feedback for Best Buy Customer Service is not very good. Long story but they shipped the right set with two inexpreienced installers who said the stackable holes should have been pre-drilled. Two weeks later the exact same set and stackable kit showed up with experienced installers and they were able to get them set up with no problems. I'm disappointed with how much time and money I needed to spend to do my laundry at a local laundry mat when the initial delivery, redelivery and re-re delivery were not my fault. I would have thought Best Buy would step up to the table and offer some compensation for the three appointments required to get the set installed. For my purchase, Best Buy used a delivery company called "Pacific". You can't call Pacific directly and they don't begin their customer service/delivery help desk until 9:00 am Eastern 8:00 am Central. So if you live on the east coast, and have a morning delivery window you won't get anyone on the line until 9:00 Eastern should you have a question on your delivery. So all these little tidbits may make you wonder why I rate the set 5 stars? Like I said, I've only had them for a few weeks and if you remove the delivery problems and look solely at the performance of the Washer and Dryer, they get the job done. They are both remarkably quiet, easy to use and they gets the clothes clean and wrinkle free.. The one exception to wrinkle free is if you are a frequent steam dryer user, there is a little downside to the steam function of the dryer as you need to manually fill up a container. There is no direct water line to the dryer. When I asked the Sales Consultant how often this needed to be replaced I was led to believe it didn't need to be filled after every load. This is only true if you take your clothes right out of the dryer and don't use the steam cycle. If you're like me and forget them overnight, the steam refresh does indeed use up 80% of the container so you need to manually refill it after every steam refresh... Not a huge deal and again if you take the clothes out of the dryer within 15-20 minutes of the original dry cycle end, you can put them on hangers and no ironing or steaming is needed. The washer runs on very little HE soap (make sure you get the right measurement as most detergent directions have you putting in 4-5x more soap than is needed.) Not only does this save on soap, it also keeps the odor that people complain about with front load washers to a minimum. My clothes come out cleaner than ever with less soap and I can already see the LG will require fewer cleaning cycles to clean the washer than my previous Kenmore Elite set. Hope this helps!

Great Washer with a Few Issues

I have had this washer for a year now. It is easy to use and my clothes come out clean. The washer is efficient and has loads of settings. I won’t go into lots of detail about all the settings as you can read about those in the manual, but there are a few things one should know about this washer if you are thinking about purchasing it. First, I had another similar model of LG washer before this one and it was trouble free. With the previous model, I did experience the air hammer issue when the washer starts and stops the water fill cycle (very common) so I had the plumber install air hammer arrestors put on my plumbing line near the water heater in my attic and that took care of the problem. However, with the new LG washer, the air hammer noise was more pronounced and my existing arrestors did not take care of the banging. I went out and purchased a pair of small water hammer arrestors to install on the back of the washer near the water inlet line and voila!, the noise is gone. Simple, inexpensive, do-it-yourself fix to solve a common complaint. I find it a little noisy and it vibrates a lot during the spin cycle, even though the washer is perfectly balanced. This was another common observation reported by several users. The other complaint I have about this washer is that after a few months of use, I experienced soapy water coming out of the back air vent during the spin cycle. This was another common complaint of some users. It is apparently due to soap buildup in the washer. LG advised me to get some Affresh washer cleaning tablets and use it for three cycles back-to-back and once a month thereafter. (Unfortunately, Affresh is expensive and usually runs $2-3 per tablet.) They also advised me to use very little soap-1 to 2 tablespoons per wash load and that’s it. Don’t fill the soap dispenser anywhere close to the line in the dispenser cup —that is too much. These high efficiency detergents make very little suds, and the LG rep said you should just barely see suds in the tub when you are washing. I followed the suggestions and I haven’t had any problems since with suds coming out the back of the washer. Just a sidenote – I had my previous washer for several years and never had this problem so perhaps they changed a part inside the water washer to make it more sensitive to soap buildup. All in all, this is a great washer. You just have to understand how it works and make some adjustments.

I bought the washer in May 2016. Two weeks ago (2/15/2017), the washer broke. Called Geek Squad who said it was less than a year old I had to call the manufacturer. LG was less than kind. They first said they had no repairmen in my area. Then the supervisor said I should go to a laundry mat to get my clothes done because it would be a few weeks to find a service company and get them out there. Long discussion there. A service company came on Monday of last week. On Wednesday the service called to say the part was unavailable and to call LG to have the washer replaced. Called LG who said the part was available, it just wasn't being manufactured at the time and I would have to wait until the part was made. How long? There was no ETA on the part. So, I asked to speak to the supervisor who said the same thing and then claimed I was lying about when I purchased the washer. He said he would send me a link to my yahoo account to upload my receipt. I said I did not have a yahoo account and he belligerently disagreed with me. Finally, got the email straightened out and he hung up on me mid-sentence. My husband called and was treated like a king. He was transferred to executive customer service. They placed our claim with the returns department who denied the claim. The customer service rep working with my husband resubmitted the claim on Friday and I just received a call today stating they would replace it. Finally!! Two weeks and a whole lot of tears and anger later I now have to wait to hear from Best Buy (but BB has to get the authorization from LG before they can move ahead) to get this machine replaced. This washer and dryer will be last LG product we ever purchase. It was not so much the product breaking as it was the customer service or the lack of customer service LG provided.

When my dryer broke, I decided to replace both the washer and dryer with higher efficiency models. The first choice I had to make for the washer was between front-loading and top-loading. I had never had a front-loader before and after reading some complaints about issues with mold build-up on the door, I hesitated to get one. But everyone I talked with said that they do a better job and are very efficient, and that you can avoid the mold problems as long as you maintain the washer correctly. In the case of this washer, that means wiping down the inside of the door after every wash, and every few weeks, emptying a small drain at the base of the washer and rinsing out a plastic filter. You also should leave the door open for a while after you're done washing so the machine can totally dry out. Then you can close it, or leave it open just a crack. If you are thinking "I don't want the bother", I understand, and a top-loader is probably what you'll want to go with, since all front-loaders require some routine maintenance (top-loaders should be cleaned around the door, too, but not as often). But I decided that the routine didn't sound too challenging, and as it turned out, it really isn't. And the trade-off is worth it, at least for me. This washer does an excellent job. It requires very little soap (I had been using way too much even with my old washer). It has a "turbo drive" feature that spins the clothes at high speed so they are very dry when they come out, which shortens the time in the dryer. So far, I have had no trouble with unbalance loads, an issue I had often with the old machine. And by following the simple maintenance routine, the washer has stayed clean and dry with no sort of build-up of any kind. I also bought the pedestal to bring both machines up to a more comfortable level for loading and unloading. I highly recommend this washer.

After 14 years my dryer bit the dust right in the middle of towels. I had to finish them up in a Laundromat. We couldn't see repairing the 14 year old dryer and we thought the washer would be next so we went looking for replacements. They were having sells on washer and dryers on several stores and sense we had the pedestals for LG that would be our choice. When we got to Best Buy they had several models. one of the washers i had seen on the internet had a lot to nice features but had a very large tub and it was more than we would ever use. however next to it was a slightly smaller tub but the same features. it wasn't on sell. i kept going to different washers but kept going back to that one that i liked. The sale's person checked on price and found out that the washer was out of stock and if i wanted the floor model they could discount it by a lot even lower that the sale price of lessor models. When figuring up totals they said if we wanted the floor model dryer they could discount that one too. WE did.. ok This suppose to be about the product even though the service was great too. They delivered the pair and set it up, explained all the options and took off the old ones. The dryer was really good but the washer it was great. Since i do the laundry i couldn't wait to wash something and try out some of the features updated from our old machine. I loved them. it had a steam feature that you can use on several settings which deep cleans especially on cloths that you don't normally use hotter water. I had several shirts that i had stains on them that i had not been able to get out as hard as i had tried. i set it on cotton/normal setting with added steam and pushed the button. Now it takes longer to wash on this setting but it removed all the stains on all the shirts i was trilled. It also has turbo wash which shortens the wash time and does a good job of cleaning too. The tub is 4.3 or 4.5 what ever it's much larger than my older washer and it can wash all the towels and still have room left in the tub . Well i guess I've bored you long enough so in finishing I will say i really like this set and especially the washer. We've had them a couple of months now and they are great. John Mc

We had an earlier model (13 years ago) of this same washer and it was great. Unfortunately, after 13 years of HARD use (at least one and usually 2-3 loads per day) it had a bad bearing or two and sounded like a F-15 taking off whenever we ran it. Other than that, it was a GREAT washer and lasted a solid 13 years which ain't bad. This washer is absolutely GREAT! Not only is it simple to use but it cleans wonderfully in like half the time of the previous washer. For instance, towels come out thoroughly clean, soft, absorbent and feeling fresh. It has actually revitalized some of our older towels and made them seem new again! Dark clothes are brilliantly cleaned, again, in half the time of the old washer, and come out soft, smelling fresh, and with minimal wrinkles. We bought the matching dryer too, and the pair are awesome! Bottom line is that the price of the pair (matching dryer and washer) is less than the price of many competing washers alone! Combine the great price with the high-end performance and features and you have a winner. In case you can't tell, I am very excited by this new washer but, I am an engineer, and as such I appreciate the quality and simple design elegance of this machine and it's matching dryer. But, don't just take it from me.... Check this short review at EnGadget where they say, "The LG WM3770HWA is the best front-loading washer, while the matching LG DLEX3370W makes a great dryer." or take a look at the Reviewed.com review (http://laundry.reviewed.com/content/lg-wm3770hwa-front-loading-washing-machine-review) who also loved it. Bottom line, IMHO this is the best washer you can buy for the money especially when combined with BestBuy's generous discounts and price matching thingy. You cannot go wrong with this beauty!

I purchased the washer and dryer combo with sidekick at end of November 2016. Took delivery in December 2016. It was very noisy from the beginning but steadily worse. Bad by the fall of 2017 and terrible by January 2018. I called a service tech out to see it and he said the drum was broken. $750 repair. However, good news is drum is warranted even if I am a month out of the labor warranty. But he tells me "good luck" working with LG. It has now been more than two months trying to get a service tech and the part. It has been so bad. And all this time we have not had a washing machine. Two service techs have looked at it and they tell me that no one wants to work on them because of having to deal with LG. I had a third one who wouldn't even come to the house to look at it. I am sure it was for the same reason. So, it is a throw away washer. As long as you don't have problems you will probably like it. But if it breaks you are in deep trouble. Read the other low reviews and you will see they have the same problems. I will never buy another LG. Now I am stuck with a LG dryer, pedestal, and a sidekick washer and no main washer. I spent thousands on this and this is what I got. It is still not solved. I am on hold with LG for the umpteenth time. Buyer beware!!!! If you do buy one, make sure you buy the longest extended Best Buy warranty. But even there you may have problems judging by another review. Good luck!

    Really Nice Units

Replacing my 2003 HE Sears Calypso top rated consumer reports set, with a top load mess of a washer. So coming from the dark ages. The front load washer does a really nice job. Purchased this unit for the steam and turbo wash (43 min cycle) and washer clean-out option. I have had the units for 30-40 loads now and am really happy with them. I think all of the new washer/dryers are overpriced and just accepted that. The washer does a really good job on dark clothes with no soap residue issues I constantly battled with my top load. The clothes come out very clean but not like new as I saw on another post. I was able to freshen up some old white golf shirts using the steam cycle and shout/scrub brush therapy. Our laundry room (tiny) is located adjacent to the family and I rarely hear any noise from the units while running. I have had two occasions where the washer loads were unbalanced and it made a racket. But 98% of the time I am very happy with the noise. Pulling out laundry from a front load is a bit of a pain but the clothes are so much cleaner than from our terrible top load I don't think I will go back. The dryer does a really nice job, where clothes are perfectly dry and the heat is not insanely hot like our old unit. I have filled up the washer with large loads and a loads as small as a single pair of dance pants and the units have done very well. The best buy install went well, but I needed a side vent on the dryer and they would not do that. So if you need that then be prepared to purchase the $80 side vent kit and pull the entire dryer apart to install the new vent. LG claims you can install without pulling the unit apart but unless you have tiny hands and boat loads of patience I would follow the youtube videos and pull the unit apart to install. Really happy with the units and would definitely recommend them. I purchased the 5-year extended warranty on the washer as I expect it to have issues if it is anything like my first HE washer.

I wanted to wait about a month and a half of use before I review this washer. This was a replacement for a Sears Kenmore Elite which lasted about 10 years before the second computer control panel needed replacement and I decided to replace both the washer and dryer. So far, this LG is working quite well using the Turbo Wash mode. I read some previous reviews and some users had some problems with the balancing of the wash. I tend not to stuff the washer full but usually wash a load that's about 3/4 full. This way, it gives the washer an opportunity to balance out the load and have not had any problems. The wash comes out fairly clean although I do not have any soiled clothes to wash ever and I do a wash twice a week so the wash is never that dirty to start out. Initially during the installation, the delivery person(s) did not tie back the braided metal water lines and each time the washer was filled; there was this heavy clanging as the metal water lines hit the back of the washer. So after an inspection, I tied back the water lines with wire-ties and the clanging went away. Not a fault of the unit but of the inattention of the delivery/installer. Also make sure you bring out a level so the the units are level front to back and side to side so there is no noise created during the spin cycle.

While I was out of the country, my wife had to get the installers to come back because they didn't install it absolutely level. A level needs to show it is level both front to back and side to side. Why? Because the spinning bucket stops and starts. Every time it stops and starts, this makes noise and puts torsion on the machine. If it is not absolutely level, this will make much louder noises and shake the floor much more. The key to a (relatively, not absolutely) quiet machine is that absolute balance. Also, if when you stomp on the floor near where your machine is or will be, if the floor shakes, you are going to get more noise. This is especially worth checking in houses where the washer is away from supporting walls and not installed on a slab. Today it is not uncommon for washers to be installed upstairs or even next to a bedroom for convenience. Of course, stacked washer and dryer pairs are heavier, but unless they're both stopping and starting at once, this also means more counter weight and perhaps less shake--if they're ABSOLUTELY LEVEL. So I've said my piece, and unfortunately, perhaps because the space was small (and of course the washer heavy) making levelling a challenge, the installers were not vigilant until really pressed, even on the callback visit.

LG Turbowash 4.5 Cu. Model WM377OHVA is listed if you type in washing machines with reversible doors, first on their web page. Called store in Mission Valley, and Salesperson verified this. My login at that time had a glitch, so my wife logged on, added account, and ordered it. All good until arrived, and after construction 15-20 days later, washer hooked up. 1. The door is not reversible like the matching dryer we already have. 2. The rubber inside is always wet with water, and smells. 3. The slide tray on top has no lip, and does not glide in easily, spilling bleach on you, and the floor. Called customer service and wanted to exchange it. Nope... my wife's new account is not Elite, but mine is. That was not good enough. We explained the login problem, and their customer service said "yes, we are working on that problem. But there is nothing we can do. My Military wife called again, and must have called in the troops because now we have a service call to evaluate the door. That's it. Poorest customer service ever, and I am an Elite Member since 2004. Last appliance we ever buy at "NOT BEST BUY".

I am a repeat purchaser of the LG front-load washer. We recently upgraded to this model and for the most part I am pleased with the performance. I have not had any issues with vibration noted by previous reviews, but I did make sure the washer was completely level and I am not using pedestals. The washer has lots of features and is absolutely beautiful in the graphite steel. There are a few differences in this model from my previous model that are a little annoying--first, the Cottons cycle that I used most often automatically defaults to the Turbo Wash setting, which is a shortened cycle. This setting did not seem to get my clothes clean so I prefer the longer, standard setting. So now I have to remember to cancel the Turbo Wash setting each time I do a load. It should be set the other way around, where Turbo Wash is an option. The instruction manual is not clear on this and I had to Google it to learn that it defaults to the Turbo Wash setting. There also seems to be more water remaining in the gasket after a load than in my previous washer, but this is just a minor inconvenience in having to wipe it down after each load. Also, Best Buy indicated that the hoses come with the LG washer, but mine didn't have them. LG customer care told me they stopped including them so you'll need to purchase your own.

Some cycles take a couple of hours to finish, but there is a turbo wash option that takes around an hour to complete. No matter what cycle you pick, clothes come out smelling clean and fresh. I even tried a huge load (really packed the clothes in there), and the washer was able to handle it, with NO vibration. Easily, the best washer I've ever purchased. My previous washer was a Whirlpool Duet, and it had vibration issues all the time. Pros: Tons of Wash Options (I have only tried 2 or 3 of them so far) Easy to Clean (has magnetic in door, that allows you to close the washer door while leaving a gap..this prevents mold growth). Easy to Use, even my 10 year old kid can do his own laundry Nice quality and looks great! Cons: Small items like socks can get caught in the rubber around the door. But, I think that's common to most front loaders. Double check your house connections, the washer hoses doesn't come with clamps.

We upgraded to this washer from an old top load washer that was 8 years old. We have been using it for about 2 months now and are very happy with it so far. The turbo wash feature is worth the little extra money for the upgrade as it saves on wash time. Overall, the washing machine is pretty easy to learn and performs well. Vibration can be an issue with this washer depending on where in your house it is located. If your laundry room is located on the main or second story of the house, you may experience some violent vibrations. Our laundry room is on the main level and while there will always be some vibration due to the speed at which the washer spins, ours isn't too bad, even on the high speed spin setting. If you are experiencing a significant vibration, make sure the machine is installed perfectly level. Otherwise, they make anti-vibration pads that will help with the problem. Be sure to read the manual for the maintenance required with a front load machine. It is important to wipe out the front gasket regularly and keep the front door open after a load to make sure you don't get mildew growth around the door seal.

We haven't had a chance to use all the features yet, but thus far the experience has been solid. The machine is very quiet. The cycle-concluding tone is a pleasant announcement. We like the dispenser tray, no more gloppy detergent caps. Setting up cycle features is logical, with an easy interface to set up soil level, water temp, spin cycle speed, etc. Clothes are noticeably cleaner than our prior top-loader. The clothes do seem less damp after a spin cycle. However, a load of jeans does seem to be a bit of an achilles heel - so do not run a large load of jeans to get best performance from the machine (particularly dampness levels at the end). We haven't yet tried any of the sterilizing cycles or the steam function yet, so can't comment on those. Our unit is on a basement, cement floor, so any wobble or machine noise is mitigated. But overall, we're quite pleased. We use floodchek hoses which have greater potential water flow. So washer fill-ups work to machine capacity.

*note: this is the same review I dded for the washer. It's hard to separate the pair. Let's be honest here first of all...I'm not the primary user for this product. I'm incredibly lucky to have a very supportive wife. This review is based on what she tells me, really nothing more. Initial impression is that there is a learning curve after coming from another brand. You get used to certain things, and they may or may not be on the new one. Once getting through the basics, the washer has proven to be efficient and quiet. There are a lot of options for washing and not all have been tried. We also made a move from a top loader to this front loader. For those a little less tall than average, this is a very notable move. Significantly easier to reach inside the wash drum. One other thing to add is that we had moved to a top loader to avoid mold issues we experienced with a previous front load unit. The door seal system has been redesigned by all brands and we hope to have a much better experience this time around. At this point all is well and the experience positive. Would recommend the unit.

In July, we were in the market for a new washer. A few months later, our washer was recalled and we were back in the market. Accidentally, we stumbled on this machine, having never purchased an LG product in the past. I can tell you without hesitation that we do not regret our decision. This machine washes laundry much better than our previous model, at about 2/3 of the time, or even less using Turbowash. Clothes are clean and ready in no time, and there is a setting to keep laundry from getting wrinkled when one is unable to be there when it finishes. The washer will tumble with steam for up to 19 hours until it can be dryed. Kudos to this washer, and to LG for seemingly making a near perfect product that will hopefully last for years.

I purchased this LG washing machine about 6 months ago. It already has smeared ink on the panel fonts! I had LG repair service here for a different problem and I was told that LG uses cheap ink for their washing machine panel. I'm going to contact LG about this issue, even though the repair guy already told me they don't cover this cosmetic issue under factory warranty. Not only is there a cosmetic issue, but this machine makes an awful rattling noise. The service guy tried his best, but he could't fix it. I absolutely regret purchasing this machine.

Great features but difficult to level

The features of this washer are great. I especially like that notch that allows the front loading door to rest in the open position to dry out, but still look like it's closed. However, I do have a few complaints. The pod type of detergent don't do well in this washer, as many clothes come back with the pod material on them--easily fixable by using liquid detergent. The second complaint is that it is difficult to level. I had professional installation of both the pedestal and the washer and there was a loud banging noise on the spin cycle that shook the house and was heard across the house. I used the wrench provided to level the front legs, which eliminated the horrible banging, but it's still off. In order to get it completely level, I will have to completely disconnect and pull out from the wall to level both the pedestal and washer, as it is in tight quarters with the sink on one side and the dryer on the other.
