Perfect Monitor for Home Office and Gaming

I recently purchased the LG UltraGear 34” OLED Curved WQHD 240Hz Gaming Monitor, and it has exceeded every expectation. I primarily use it with my Apple laptop for my home office setup via a USB-C to DisplayPort cable, and the experience has been outstanding. The image quality is phenomenal, especially after running calibration on both my work laptop and my gaming laptop. I also connected my gaming laptop through HDMI, and the monitor handles both devices flawlessly. The colors are vibrant, the contrast is incredible thanks to the OLED panel, and the 240Hz refresh rate with 0.03ms response time makes everything—from productivity to gaming—feel incredibly smooth. AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and HDR support are just the icing on the cake. Overall, this monitor has elevated both my work and gaming experience. Highly recommended!

i work as a dev. i was worried this monitor because its rated for gaming would suck with text. it's actually pretty sweet. such a beautiful monitor also. i have it hanging on an arm in my office. fits my build so well. currently, my favorite monitor. i had another lg (the top right in the attached photo) as my main monitor for 5 years... that one i love. i upgraded to this, and it really felt like an upgrade. i use it for coding + daily use as well as work and it's just awesome. when i lock in, ill bring it forward and i love the curve. feels so good. sometimes i will play games on geforce now. it looks fine. i didnt buy it for gaming

This OLED type has bad banding. In my pictures it’s trying to display solid grey but it shows as different shades. The severity lessens over time if you set it to max brightness and leave bright HDR content going all the time but it’s a hassle and I don’t know if they all end up looking perfect. Its probably best to get a Samsung OLED because they don’t have this issue and they are a conventional aspect ratio.

Hi, Peyton. Thank you for sharing your experience with your LG Monitor (34GX900A‑B) model. We understand the importance of having an OLED monitor that delivers clean, uniform shades—especially when displaying solid grey.
One helpful step you can try is running the Pixel Cleaning / Panel Refresh function in the monitor’s settings. This feature is designed to help reduce uniformity issues like banding by recalibrating the panel. Also, make sure the Uniform Brightness setting is enabled, as this helps stabilize luminance across the screen during SDR and HDR use. For more guidance, visit https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-34GX900A-B.AUS. To allow our team to take a closer look and assist further, please send us an email at [email protected]. ^Juvy LG

Defective Monitor Right Out of the Box

Check my pictures. When I first turned on the monitor, vertical lines were already visible. It took two OLED image cleanings to fix them. Then, within a day, a new issue appeared—a blinking green and blue line in the corner. Cleaning only fixes it temporarily before it comes back. This should not happen with a brand-new product. Very disappointed with LG’s quality control.

Hi, there. Thank you for sharing your experience with the LG Monitor (34GX900A-B) model. We appreciate your detailed feedback and understand how important it is for your display to perform flawlessly right out of the box.

Vertical lines and blinking pixels can sometimes be related to panel calibration or signal interference. Since OLED image cleaning only provides temporary relief, we recommend checking your video cable connection and trying a different input source or cable to rule out signal issues. Also, ensure your monitor’s firmware is up to date by visiting https://www.lg.com/us/support?popup=software. If the issue persists or you'd like us to take a closer look, feel free to email us at [email protected]. We’re here to help. ^Juvy LG

Works really good I really liked it, is a good price quality monitor, if you have lines in your screen you will probably need to do a oled cleaning from the menu of the monitor, just needs calibration most of the times

    Fantastic Ultrawide OLED Monitor

This is a fantastic ultrawide OLED monitor. It looks great in both SDR and HDR, but HDR content really shines on it. I have a couple of minor gripes with the stand and the mounting, but the display itself is excellent. The stand is assembled first and the base and column are in 2 pieces that are connected via a thumbscrew. The stand can be snapped into the back of the display and then be used as a handle to lift the monitor out of the box. The stand is quite wide and holds the monitor well - it allows for height, tilt, and swivel adjustments. The tilt adjustment is just to help with getting the display level and does not allow it to be rotated 90 degrees. The power, display, and USB connections are all inserted from the bottom and the stand has a cutout to feed the cables through. The cable management is pretty basic and no matter what I did I could not get the cables to not stick out the bottom of the monitor. I ended up swapping the stand out and just connecting this display to my monitor mounting arm. The monitor has a 100x100 VESA mounting pattern, though it’s recessed into the panel a bit and I did end up having to get some spacers in order to give my mounting plate enough clearance to slide onto the mounting arm. The power supply on this monitor is external and quite large. The monitor has 2 HDMI 2.1 display ports, 1 DP 1.4 port, 2 USB-A ports, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The USB-C port functions as either a display input or a downstream port to the PC to enable the use of the USB-A ports. When used as a display input, the USB-C port can also provide up to 65W of charging to a connected laptop. I think 65W is a bit low, but it’s nice to see Power Delivery supported anyway. The box also includes HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C cables. On my initial boot up with this monitor I thought that I had a defective unit - there were 2 bright vertical spots going down the center of my screen. After changing a few settings and trying different inputs I ran the OLED screen cleaning procedure in the OSD and that solved the issue. It was a little disconcerting to see this issue right out of the box, but I haven’t had a problem since then. Getting a good HDR experience in Windows is really tough and when HDR is enabled in Windows desktop applications look AWFUL with very ugly colors. This is not an issue with the monitor itself, but more in how Windows handles (or doesn’t handle) HDR. I found that toggling HDR off while on the desktop things look just like they should. Colors are punchy, contrast is excellent, and the picture gets very bright, especially for an OLED. I know older OLED panels have had issues with text clarity and I saw none of that here, though I was never particularly sensitive to that issue before in the older panel generations. The experience is even better toggling HDR back on and playing games and video content that support it. LG lists this monitor as being good for up to 1300 nits of peak brightness, at least when using the Windows HDR calibration app, I was only able to adjust up to 640 nits, though this was fullscreen brightness. Settings adjustments are relatively sparse, but the menu is easy to navigate with the single button/joystick. I tend to prefer flat displays over curved, but the curve on this one is fine and it was not something I noticed much in game. The display is 34” measured diagonally, though being an ultrawide it is not as large as a 34” 16:9 display would be - it’s about as tall as a 27” monitor and around 30% wider. Overall I’m very happy with this display. If you’re looking for a bright ultrawide OLED monitor this fits the bill for sure. As always with OLED displays, the risk of image retention is technically there, though it seems to be less of a concern these days than it has been in the past.

This curved LG 34-inch OLED monitor has stunning display quality and the speed to keep up with high-paced gaming. The display was easy to assemble while still in the box. I snapped the stand onto the back and attached the metal base using the built-in thumb screw. No tools were necessary. It can also be VESA mounted if desired. The only remaining step after physical assembly was placing and connecting the power cord and input cables. The monitor ships with three cables: DisplayPort, HDMI, and USB-C. Input ports are located on the underside of the rear panel and include one DisplayPort, two HDMI ports, two USB-A ports, and one USB-C port. The ports are tucked neatly out of sight but can be a bit awkward to reach in tight spaces. There is also ornamental lighting on the rear that gives it a touch of flair. The display is moderately heavy, in part due to the solid metal base, but the monitor is sturdy and reliably stable despite its size and weight. The panel can tilt, swivel, and its height is adjustable on the stand. The power brick is large, roughly the same size as my gaming laptop’s power brick. Settings are controlled via a small joystick on the rear bottom of the display. Although the rear of the display is usually my least favorite position for a joystick, it isn’t as difficult to access and use as I initially expected. Everything from powering the display off to adjusting various settings is handled through the joystick. The QHD OLED panel has vibrant, richly saturated colors, true blacks, and excellent sharpness. The thin bezels give it an edge-to-edge immersive feel. I haven’t observed any defects or imperfections such as stuck pixels, lines, uneven tones, or other issues. The colors are bright and shading is uniform. It also includes burn-in prevention tools like pixel scrubbing and shifting to help protect the panel from static image persistence and burn-in. The monitor works well for daily desktop use, but is overkill if only intended for productivity and web browsing. However, desktop use does look fantastic when working in office productivity apps. Text is clear and easily legible when editing spreadsheets or documents. Photos and clip art look great, making it a good display for media production and editing. The only possible drawback may be that the heavily saturated colors could be an issue with professional media editing where accurately calibrated colors are typically required, but it's fine for casual photo/video editing. It also performs well for watching streaming content, though since it isn’t a smart display, content must come from an external source. The monitor has built-in stereo speakers which although not great, are sufficient if no other sound options are available. Gaming is where the monitor truly shines. It is both FreeSync and G-SYNC compatible and handles fast-paced gaming with ease. Thanks to a refresh rate up to 240Hz, 0.03ms response time, and sharp resolution, action remains clear and ghost-free. The display has dedicated gaming modes, and the refresh rate can be adjusted on the fly. The TrueBlack 400 HDR provides realistic shadows and contrast, particularly during dark scenes in games. I don’t encounter any blooming or halo effect like I sometimes see on IPS displays. The LG Ultragear 34" OLED is an outstanding gaming monitor. The brightness is excellent, it's fast enough to keep pace with intense gaming, and the true blacks look spectacular compared to the grayish blacks of IPS or TN panels. It also comes with a two-year warranty. I haven’t been able to confirm whether the warranty includes burn-in, but I'm confident from past experience, the included burn-in tools, and what I've witnessed so far that I likely won't need it.

    Immersive Fast, Curved, vivid display

I’ve become a consistent investor in purchasing LG displays because I simply cannot find better picture quality and build anywhere else. I use LG monitors on both of my setups, Mac and PC, and both monitors are always live up to expectations in terms of clarity and performance. My current 45” curved UltraGear monitor is still my number one monitor for work and gaming, it just makes my more efficient and gaming more enjoyable. This new LG UltraGear 34” curved monitor holds the same outstanding of LG’s reputation and carries the same level of perfection. It is packed with most essential features needed for both productivity and gaming domains with no compromise. The Packaging arrived undamaged and in perfect condition, which is good since this is an OLED screen and tends to be fragile everything needed for a quick and easy setup is included: The monitor, base and stand,1 HDMI cable, 1 DisplayPort cable, 1 Power cable, USB Type-C Cable. The process of assembling the monitor is no sweat and tools free, attaching the base to the stand only requires tightening a single screw by hand. The built-in cable management cutout on the stand is convenient to run the cables through. I turned on my PC and voila! I played a movie, and the first impression was breathtaking. The colors are incredibly vivid and everything on the screen looked alive, and they just need a soul to start speaking. The OLED screen with the 800R curvature adds an amazing immersive experience. It feels like I am wrapped up by the screen, and I can easily see the whole screen without needing to turn my head. Screen resolution is 3440×1440 resolution at 240Hz refresh rate and ultra-fast 0.03 ms response. The three components generate outstanding experience. I have been using it for productivity, gaming, and watching movies and the entire time I have been impressed by the picture quality and smooth motion. It also has built-in speakers but honestly, they do the job, but not next level, thus I used my own audio setup. I connected the monitor using HDMI 2.1 to get full 240Hz refresh rate. The text looks clean and easy to read. The screen wide real estate is enough to have multiple windows open side by side. I downloaded LG’s OnScreen Control software since this monitor does not come with remote to access more features such as split screen and choosing different modes in addition to keeping the monitor up do date. My overall experience has been excellent. This monitor is a state-of-the-art piece and offers cutting-edge tech with stylish design. I couldn't be happier with this monitor; it met my expectations, and I am fully satisfied with both its picture quality and performance.

I switched from owning a regular LED monitor to this and let me tell you, the difference is night and day. The OLED screen paired with HDR makes every single game I play feel like a totally different experience. Seeing true black while also having vibrant visuals, along with the ultra-wide display of 1440p makes you feel like every penny you spent on this monitor is worth it. Two cons I have come across with this monitor are the vertical lines I randomly get when booting up after not gaming for a few days. But this problem can easily get fixed when going into the monitor settings and selecting screen cleaning. It takes only a few minutes and your screen is back to normal. Second con is text clarity. This might sway people away, especially if their intention with the monitor is for work (typing and reading, especially against white backgrounds). The fix I found for this is in your Windows settings.
