    Best gaming monitor ever devised

If your anything like me you have been scouring reviews for many hours trying to find the perfect gaming monitor. This might be it (at least for me). This size is perfect. The 34" ultra wide monitors are just too small. 45" ultra wide monitors are really perfect. The super ultra wide (like Samsung G9) are super wide, but the aspect ratio is just wrong. Why not have additional screen real estate above and below such a narrow long screen? The size and aspect ratio of this LG 45" OLED are a much better compromise. This is an excellent gaming monitor. I was using a 27" IPS LCD with 165Hz, 300 nit brightness before this purchase. This is significantly clearer and the HDR (High Dynamic Range) is fantastic. No dead pixels. I find the screen more than bright enough and always have it turned down. The motion playing PC games is so much better it is amazing. My old LCD looks like a blurry mess during motion compared to this thing. The curve is perfect for this size. Coming from a flat screen I wasn't sure about an 800R curve like this, but its perfect and I won't go back. The curve really increased the immersion. The color is very very good and of course the inky perfect void black blacks contrasted with super bright self emitting pixels (no back light on OLEDS, the pixels make their own light) is so very nice. One other huge pro is you can update the firmware; they already fixed a bug I experienced with SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) colors. All you have to do is make sure your monitor is plugged into your PC using the provided USB cable and download the "OnScreen Control" application from the LG website. It will automatically tell you if your monitor needs to update. One minor gripe is that it took about an hour for the firmware to install, but I don't mind. I think the minor negativity this monitor sometimes receives about low PPI (pixels per inch) is completely overblown. The PPI is not an issue with this monitor. You really have to lean in much too uncomfortably close to notice. I sit about 30inches from the monitor, and there is no issue. I also don't see any weird color shading around text like some other brands of OLEDs that use different panels. The lower PPI is even an asset in a game like Digital Combat Simulator where you scan the sky for planes miles out and they may only render as one pixel at very long distances. The one pixel is noticeable on a big monitor like this with such good contrast. I also like how the monitor looks. It has a very nice build quality and feels very premium. I do have it mounted on the included 100x100 Vesa bracket to an arm, but the monitor feels very nice. The included remote is nice too. Seems to have plenty of options to prevent OLED burn in that are all automatic, but certain pixel refreshing features can be activated manually if you want to for any reason. I haven't had a single issue with image retention and have never seen even very slight retention and am very sensitive to it. (I had a plasma TV years ago that did have it). The modern OLEDS don't have this problem with normal use and are not comparable at all to how the old plama TV's used to get this. I mainly use it for PC, but this monitor does have HDMI 2.1 max bandwidth, so consoles like Xbox and PS5 are fully compatible with max resolution and max refresh rate with HDR and VRR that the consoles support.

In these 3 pictures, I also have my 16" 16:10 laptop for scale just to show you how deranged this monitor is! Pros: 45" 21:9 display is massive. Playing 21:9 games and watching 21:9 movies is an automatic dumb smile, especially with the 800r curve. It's about as close to VR as you can get with a desk monitor. It's probably the most optimum panel size and shape I can think of. I also enjoy doing work on here because of this. OLED, with its deep blacks and vibrant colors, is the cherry on top. And 240hz? In what earthly scenario would you ever need more? Cons: Not exclusive to this monitor, OLED panels have inherent issues. Small risk of burn-in (which hasn't happened in the 8 months I've owned this) and vertical banding on grayscale backgrounds to varying degrees. Still would rather have this over LCD and IPS, though. And the popular negative on this monitor, the PPI, although surprisingly not as bad as I thought it would be, still leaves a bit to be desired. I personally got quite used to this, though. Just don't put your face like one foot away and you won't tend to notice it. Quick tip: Don't forget to test both the included HDMI 2.1 and the DisplayPort 1.4 cables to see which is better for your situation. I cluelessly went with DisplayPort 1.4 cable the first few weeks thinking it would be good enough and when I switched to HDMI 2.1, video games ran significantly better. HDMI 2.1 has 48 gbps bandwidth while DisplayPort 1.4 has only 32.4 gbps bandwidth.

Drop Dead Gorgeous Display for Gaming

I upgraded from a 27'' Asus ROG Swift (2020) 144hz G-Sync IPS display to this jaw dropping OLED during Best Buy Members Black Friday 2023 ($999.99). After experiencing this display firsthand, and a few weeks of use (mainly on Overwatch and World of Warcraft), its worth the investment. I won't be able to go back to previous display tech (non-OLED, non-curved, or size) for PC gaming. I truly noticed the difference between OLED and non when comparing with my TV (4k Sony, LED 2017). I thought my Sony TV was the BEST display I owned.... but after seeing the rich blacks, color pops of OLED, with the fluidity of motion on this gaming monitor.... its bar none. I'm now noticing whiter blacks, and less richness on my Sony. My wife is sick of me talking about wanting an OLED TV now!! The size of the monitor is not as big as you think it could be! Which is a massive win. When I saw "45 inch" it worries me at first. Would it fit? Would I be too close to such a large display? With the curved design, it easily fits on my 60 inch desk, with my gaming desktop on top as well. If anything, it completes the space. It does take some getting used to while gaming, but once you do, you'll never go back. One minor negative, which others have noted, is overall brightness of the monitor. It doesn't get super bright, and the sides of the screen (left and right) are slightly dimmer than the center. HOWEVER, its definitely not a deal breaker and the trade offs are totally worth it. You barely notice it in-game, as your focus is usually in the center of the screen. My man-cave is in my basement, with no natural light or backlight hitting the monitor, so I can't speak to how it would perform under those conditions. Another minor negative, for those using this as a work and gaming display: This is a gaming display first, not for work and e-mail juggernauts. The 1440p on a monitor this size does make text a little less "crisp". With that being said, its marketed as a gaming display, and that is what this monitor should only be used for. It gets by with internet scrolling (and even writing this review) but I do miss my previous ASUS in these environments. Still, worth the trade off though! Overall, LG has knocked this one out of the park. I'll update this review with reliability in the years to come. Is it worth the MSRP of $1,700? I would say no (unless you are a gamer 24/7), but on sale at $999, absolutely.

    Almost Perfect

This monitor is almost perfect. I was using a Samsung CRG49 and loved it. I work remotely part time and game from the same space. It provided me with all the screen space I needed for work, and was pretty good for gaming, though it was almost too wide given the small curve. I opted for this because OLED monitors are finally getting to where I am comfortable using one as my main PC monitor. I wanted the faster refresh rate and the better HDR performance that OLED would give me. This monitor also has HDMI 2.1 which I needed to connect my Xbox Series X for the best performance. The other big perk that has simplified my setup is the SPDIF out that goes to my Creative Katana v2. Instead of switching between 3 different audio inputs I can have everything go through optical. It's a small thing that has saved some of my sanity. The color and performance on this monitor are just next level. Some games that I play where they do not have high refresh rates, I would experience tearing, but this is smooth. And the colors pop. I've always disliked HDR mode with the CRG49 and Windows in general, but HRD mode in Windows finally feels like I am not seeing wildly different image quality based on SDR or HDR. Resolution is where I am giving this 4 instead of 5 stars. In my opinion, going from the Samsung CRG49 to this, I have lost a lot of text quality. Since I work on this monitor as well, it's very noticeable given the Excel, Word, Slack messages and emails I am interacting with. I knew I would lose width for my large Excel files, but I am okay with that sacrifice. The text quality though does really make me question if I want to keep the monitor. The curve makes you want to be enveloped in this monitor, but it is not crisp enough for text. In games though it isn't nearly as bad. The resolution also lets me crank up details since it's less wide than the CRG49. When games are moving I have not really noticed the resolution issue. One small annoyance is the remote that must be used to change some settings. There really should be a nipple style controller tucked into the underside of the monitor so I do not have to pull out the remote for all settings. Overall I am happy with this monitor and I think I will be keeping it. The text quality is pretty bad but if your main use case is gaming or media consumption, this may be the perfect monitor.

    A Gaming Marvel: Review

I recently upgraded my gaming setup, and the LG UltraGear has proven to be an absolute powerhouse, delivering an unparalleled gaming experience. Here's why I believe it deserves a solid 4-star rating: 1. Stunning 1440 Resolution: The UltraGear boasts an impressive 3440x1440 resolution, providing crystal-clear visuals that bring games to life. The level of detail and sharpness is truly remarkable, making every gaming session an immersive experience. My only issue is the ABL tends to be a little aggressive but settled down once I got the settings the way I wanted them. 2. 45-Inch OLED Display: The massive 45-inch display ensures a wide color gamut and excellent color accuracy. The colors pop, and the HDR support enhances the contrast, making dark scenes more detailed and vibrant. The ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio is perfect for gaming enthusiasts seeking a truly cinematic feel. I know I may some from flack for this because this is OLED, but it just didn't get bright enough for me or this would be a 5 star rating. 3. Incredible 240Hz Refresh Rate: For fast-paced gaming, the 240Hz refresh rate makes a noticeable difference. Whether you're playing action-packed shooters or exploring open-world environments, the smoothness and responsiveness of this display contribute to a competitive edge. 4. Intuitive On-Screen Control: The on-screen control feature simplifies adjusting settings on the fly. Navigating through various options is seamless, and the remote makes customization easy. The ability to customize gaming profiles for different genres is a nice touch. 5. Ergonomic Design: LG has designed the UltraGear with gamers in mind. The display is adjustable for height, tilt, and swivel, allowing for a comfortable and customizable setup. The near-borderless design enhances the overall aesthetic, providing a sleek and modern look. I am an absolute huge fan of the 800r curve, and the immersion was very impressive 6. Impressive Connectivity: The array of ports, including HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB, ensures compatibility with various gaming devices. In conclusion, the LG UltraGear 45GR95QE is a gaming monitor that excels in every aspect. Its combination of 3440x1440 resolution, a large OLED display, high refresh rate, G-Sync compatibility, and user-friendly features make it a top choice for gamers who demand the best. Many folks told me not to waste my money about the low ppi and text clarity issues. That is all subjective, and I hope if you are reading this review you give it a chance and make your own decision. I had no issues with the low ppi and text clarity While the price may be on the higher side, the performance and features justify the investment for those seeking an elite gaming experience.

Pros: it’s 240hz, OLED, and massive. Also has neat rear lighting and a beautiful overall design. Cons: it is expensive, has no speakers (I know, but still), lacks in PPI due to size. Also, the first two I bought had dead pixels, so check for that.

I am blown away! I was a little hesitant from the brightness only being 300nit but that does not mayter in the slughtezt it is always percectly bright! I have never needed it to be brighter than it comes. Also, some people complained about seeing the grains becase theres only like 89ppi. That is also not a problem at all. If you have your face two inches from the screen you can see the individual pixels but sitting normally you will not notice it. I love the 800r curve! It is the most curved minitor out there and it is a game changer!!! I will never be going back! The screen size is perfect it is not too large even though it may look that way online. The contrast ratio of 21:9 is what really seals the deal on this monitor. Ypu get an awesome picture that plays all games full screen that is not too wide like the 32:9 ratios. Seriously this is the perfect monitor that money can buy right now. I love every single thing about it worth every penny! It’s absolutely beautiful and my eyes have less strain, my neck has less strain, bery user friendly and the remote is a huge win. Dont look any further this is the holy grail! I got this above the samaung g9 and alienware 3432. The best budget friendly monitor would be the alienware 3432 which is still incredible, but if you want the best of the best this one really is worth the extra money. I bought mine open box for $250 off.

Wow, this monitor is amazing! I wouldn't consider myself an avid gamer, but something about this monitor really captivated me. I knew that I had to get this one, and this one specifically. My hunch had never been wrong before, and it definitely wasn't wrong now! The monitor is a jaw-dropping 45-inches of superb color and contrast, and you really have to see it in person to appreciate it. While the 1440p resolution is understandably a sore spot for many, I honestly did not notice it while gaming. The text clarity does take a hit, but it was not something I couldn't get used to, and I was aware of it coming in. This resolution is also perfect for people that do have GPUs that support HDMI 2.1, such as me. Installation was easy since I just needed to install it on a desk mount. It uses a standard VESA 100x100 layout and is compatible with whatever I had lying around. Since the monitor is only 18 pounds, you should have no issues with most arm mounts. Since it comes with a remote, I could push the monitor a bit further back without having to awkwardly fiddle with the awful single-button navigation on the monitor. As for the display itself, the black levels are perfect, and the colors are incredibly vibrant. In HDR, peak brightness can get super bright. While it may only peak at around 1000 nits or lower, the incredible contrast and response times of the OLED panel really makes it hard to complain about anything. The matte coating on the screen does affect the quality of the screen somewhat, but I am super impressed with how nice their coating is and how well it eliminates ambient and direct lighting. The aspect ratio is also much nicer than I had imagined. I was expecting to have issues running games that do not support ultrawide, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that so many games natively support it now, and with a growing number of older games having support added in through mods. Since the OLED also has perfect blacks, it also makes 16:9 gaming much more tolerable compared to other panels. All in all, I am very much pleased with this monitor. There has never been a monitor much like this one, in my opinion. The absurd 800R curve is actually perfect, and the build quality is equally impressive. Did you know this monitor actually curves all the way through, and not taper flat like all the other non-OLED curved monitors? My only real gripes would be with the uniformity of the grays and dark grays, but that is to be expected of the technology. Additionally, there is a weird issue with my monitor where there is a faint line visible that divides the screen in half vertically. I am hoping that this is a software issue, but I do not notice it in 99% of use. At the price of 1699.99, it is an incredibly hard pill to swallow. I wouldn't have purchased it either if I hadn't been able to purchase it open box for almost thirty percent off. Regardless, once you see it in action, it almost becomes worth it at any price point.

I have to say when I first purchased this monitor, I was nervous. It’s no lie that the price tag is very hefty but I promise when I say this, you are paying for what you get . The absolute color depth and accuracy is mind blowing and to have an oled monitor that is so wide and with such a high refresh rate and low response time is incredible. It is a 1440p monitor so there is a little bit of pixilation if you are using it for word or reading a lot of text on the internet , but to be honest, this is a monitor built for gaming , and during gaming you don’t have that issue at all. Pros: Gorgeous color depth Fast refresh rate and response time Gorgeous overall picture quality Cons: 1440p makes for slightly pixilated text documents Overall, if you are looking for a great oled monitor specifically for gaming, I can definitely recommend this.

Great monitor, oled gives you better contrast and perfect blacks, also great in fps games because of 240hz 0.03ms there is no ghosting and motion clarity is super clear. My cons are the PPI and resolution being on this size the reso is kinda low but not noticeable when you game. Text are not great but no bad when you are 30cm away from the monitor but kinda bad when you turn on HDR even if you adjust the sharpness settings. Overall the monitor is great when in gaming specially in HDR, turn off HDR when browsing so you wont notice the pixilated text.

This screen is absolutely incredible. The level of immersion it provides is unmatched. It completely fills up your vision. The extra screen height over a 32:9 monitor is a huge improvement in my opinion. You will need a large desk for this. My desk is 31” deep and I I don’t think I could use it on a desk that’s any smaller. It would be much too close to my face. You will see complaints about the low PPI of this screen, and I think it’s a non issue if you use this monitor primarily for gaming. It is not a good monitor for productivity or spreadsheets or the like. It’ll do fine at those tasks, but where it really shines is gaming. The 240hz refresh rate is amazing at this size. The 3440x1440p resolution makes it a little easier to run and get close to that 240hz limit.

Its endless. End of the day your going buy a monitor that some dislike for various reasons and others love for various reasons. I’ve researched different brand monitors and I chose this one. This my first monitor ever and I went big. I’ve no regrets so far. It looks great on my desk. The two games I played so far look good play fast. The screen size is dynamite. Perfect curved screen. I sit a good 3 feet from center screen.

I recently decided to upgrade my home office experience. I historically did not use monitors much because the process of duplicating screens, connecting cables, etc. was not efficient for me. This monitor changed all of that. It is a beast! I am not a technical expert by any means, but this 240hz refresh rate is a noticeable difference vs. any device I own. The colors are absolutely beautiful. The panel and stand are high quality. The user friendliness of the screen increases my productivity significantly. I can have open at all times a spreadsheet, music, tv, website, other files and it all fits on the screen. No more cables, duplicating screens, etc. I am not much of a gamer, but it is amazing to see the quality of the graphics on this monitor and for 4k and HDR content for TV/movies, it is just amazing. Purchased on sale for $1,200 total member price. I hesitated at $1,800, but after owning and using, I would not hesitate to buy at any price as it makes that much of a positive difference in my working/office environment.

Excellent monitor with some minor drawbacks if you intend to also use for work. As I am only using this monitor for gaming and media consumption, I will not be knocking stars off for less than ideal text clarity. This monitor REALLY sucks you into whatever it is you're playing or watching. It consumes all of your vision in the best way possible. I came from a Gigabyte M28u 4k 144hz IPS monitor and I am blown away at how great the colors looks in comparison. Though it must be noted that anyone coming from 4k will notice the pixels due to the massive change in pixel density. Sharpening and upscaling can help, but it will never look as crisp as 4k at 27-28 inches. if that's something that really matters to you, this honestly may not be the monitor for you. I running this monitor with a 4090, and some games can actually reach 240hz, and wow does it look buttery smooth. Can't recommend this monitor enough. Just make sure you understand the pros and cons and what is important for YOU. And since it's OLED I highly recommend purchasing the extended warranty through bestbuy since they cover burn in

Connecting a colorimeter allows hardware calibration of the screen. * X-Rite i1 and Spyder X should both work well (I used the Spyder) Now let me address the issues that people have complained about… Resolution ------------ Retina was a term coined by Apple to signify when a display’s viewing distance would reach the point where any perceived imperfection in the monitor would disappear. * 32” 2560x1440 displays have a PPI of 91.79 * 34” 3440x1440 ultrawide displays have a PPI of 109.68 * 45” 3440x1440 ultrawide displays have a PPI of 82.78 The viewing distance at which each display becomes Retina is… * 32” – 37.46 inches. * 34” – 31.34 inches. * 45” – 41.49 inches. What this means, is the viewing distance (shown above) would make all 3 of these monitors appear very similar in terms of resolution. So, with a 45-inch screen, you’re much more likely to sit far enough back that any perceived loss of sharpness or detail would be imperceptible anyway. The bottom line here is that sitting at a normal viewing distance from the display is likely to produce a very pleasing experience (I measured my distance at 38 inches from the screen and I have no issues with the text or image clarity). Brightness ----------- Nits are basically measurements of candle power and that is saying you have a display that is capable of 650 nits is the equivalent of 650 candles spread out over the size of the display and all lit simultaneously. That would likely be more than bright enough for most of us under any conditions as most phone screens do not get that bright. SDR is calibrated at 100 nits and that’s the brightness that content creators target their calibration to meet industry standards for production. You can calibrate this monitor higher than 100 nits, but that’s not the most optimal for Standard Definition Content. HDR Calibration has multiple levels of calibration 400, 600, 1000, 2000, and 10000 are the most prevalent, with 600 and 1000 being the base calibration for most movies you’re likely to see in HDR today. While this screen is at the bottom with an HDR 10 specification it can reach 650 nits of peak brightness so it should be fine for HDR 600 content. Believe me, even in well-lit rooms you’re not going to have an issue seeing HDR content as this display is more than bright enough and the contrast ratio is absurd. Matte Screen ------------- Matte screens have long been preferred for computer monitors as they create a more pleasing and accurate representation of color accuracy and are less likely to interfere with a colorimeter’s readings. The Idea that somehow a pixel being completely turned off is going to be blacker because the screen is shiny is complete nonsense. Off is the absence of any electrical current flowing to that pixel and it doesn’t just get blacker because the surface protecting the panel is shiny! Burn-In Risk ------------- LG has been at this OLED thing for a long time, and they know how to produce a panel that can work within safe limitations to prevent burn-in. Unlike the Alienware QD-OLED and the Samsung Odyssey 8 OLED, this panel has pixel shifting technology (you do have to turn it on though as it is not on by default and that is a mistake on LG’s part). The other things it does are a pixel cleaner and pixel refresher, but these are done automatically when the monitor either goes to sleep or is turned off. I am not too worried about it as this monitor has no mentions of it in a thousand reviews on best buy’s website. Other Details -------------- Now that all the nonsense is out of the way, let's go over some of the other reasons why this might be the best option for you. First, the competition is often using either a 16x9 aspect ratio, or a 32x9 aspect ratio. 16:9 vs 21:9 ------------- A simulated widescreen mode on the 16x9 display is going to have less pixels (I’m talking about the Odyssey Ark 55 here) and would never be able to match the immersive experience of the 21:9 Aspect Ratio. 32:9 vs 21:9 ------------- With 32x9, you are going to find huge black bars beside your online gaming content as most games do not support that aspect ratio and modifying the code to handle it will get you banned from your game. This means that at an ultrawide 49-inch gaming monitor will not only exceed your peripheral vision, but it will also create a situation where you simply cannot benefit from the extra resolution while gaming. Why This Ratio? ---------------- LG chose the most widely supported ultrawide aspect ratio for an immersive gaming experience and the result is a more proportionally pleasing view for day-to-day use. Both a 34” and 49” display using a 32x9 aspect ratio will have 14 inches of vertical resolution, this display has 18” and that only adds to the more pleasing experience of using the LG. Calibration ------------ The default calibration mode is P3 D65, which means it is using the more vibrant and saturated DCI-P3 Display Spec that Apple made popular in their Retina iMacs and iPhones. To say the color pops would be an understatement and I am happy with the color accuracy of the display when calibrated. The Remote ----------- One of the biggest issues I have with the display, well actually the biggest, is that you cannot turn on the pixel shift mode without the remote and you will struggle with the little nub that represents the only controls on the display. One area the remote does well though is that the panel has an option for blocking it from controlling your LG TV, so you are not turning your TV and Monitor on and off at the same time. Samsung has not yet learned this lesson and that was a very painful experience for me. Gaming ------- This monitor is about 5 MP and a 4K Monitor is about 8 MP. What this means, is that you do not need to have the most powerful hardware to get this thing to sync at higher VRR speeds and with very good hardware, hitting the 240 FPS to match the 240 Hz refresh rate is likely going to be much easier than trying to hit that target on a UHD or DQHD Display. Smart Features --------------- Do not be sad about this, but the monitor does not have any. It is just a monitor, and that is a good thing! I do not even use the smart features on my televisions (I use an Apple TV), I certainly do not want them in my monitors. My Opinion ----------- I find the display to be an incredible experience for all my needs. I do not find the resolution too low, the matte screen displeasing, or the color gamut to be lacking in any way. Sure, these could always be better, but this screen checks a lot more boxes than most monitors. For the record, I replaced an Alienware 34” Ultrawide QD-OLED with this panel as I wanted a larger screen and I have no regrets as I simply find this to be a better experience overall. Should you buy it? ------------------- If you are looking for a gaming monitor, and you have the room to use this with a viewing distance of at least 35 inches, then I think you will be more than happy with this display. Is it perfect? Nope it isn’t but none of the other options are either, but I personally find this does more of what I was looking for than any other monitor on the market. If you are on the fence, it is a fantastic display and well worth the $999 that I paid for it in the BF Sale. One last note, the images are taken with my bedroom light shining right on the screen and it is in SDR mode, so its peak brightness is just over 200 nits, with HDR it will be 300% brighter than this.

What I love about the display (pros) -The size and the curve are very immersive the curve helps bring the sides closer. Which make it not feel to big or out of reach from your eyes. - OLED is king, blacks are perfect of course, but the colors look great my favor display setting is the FPS display settings, Gamer 1 is suppose to be more accurate, but colors look washed out. FPS or Gamer 2 looks the best to my eyes, and you retain all the game mode settings. - 240 HZ/ VVR work great for both HDMI and DS Port. Not so great (Cons) -The resolution for the size is not great you will see pixels, but it is easier for your GPU to make the most out of that 240 Hz Refresh rate. You may need to sit father away from the display - Not the best for office work due to text being hard to read, but I use it 90 %percent of the time for Gaming which it is excellent at. -The Matte finish may be a con for some, I am not sensitive to the matte finish I hardly notice it, but if you are it may be a problem for you.

I don’t typically write reviews for items but this one i had to due to alot of conflicting information and terms you hear when reading and watch reviews about this monitor like “low ppi”, “…needs to be xxxx resolution”, “the curve is to much”, “low lighting”. Well I giving you my personal non-sponsored review in this as an everyday user mainly using this for gaming. I was really putting this monitor on the back burner when searching for my next OLED panel due to the “low PPI” comments that you read in reddit/facebook/youtube reviews. You need to have this monitor in front of you in order to make your decision. True, its not going to look as great as a 4k display by no means, but theres a good balance of where this montior checks most boxes. Performance- its fast! Hair splitting response times of .03ms? 240hz, OLED, display do I need to say much more! 21:9 ratio is more commonly found with most games these days, and this monitor natively has it so great field of view in most scene, especially when it comes to to have the mjni maps in the corners of your display on top of have the 800r curve which youll rarely find yourself having to turn your face way from the middle of the display during fps games. It was well thoughtout with the design and ergonomics of having such a large display. Display- yes we all know about OLED panels, the colors are sooo vibrant compared to all the previous LCD/LED panels. The blacks are, well, black not greys, you really don’t know what you’re missing till you finally own an OLED display. I really never realized the colors a couple of title AAA title games I played for a few year now, was so vibrant and the scenes/maps were so rich! Blew my mind! The brightness, yes it’s not the brightest display out on the market but if you seen other OLED panels, theyre typically around the same. Yes, in SDR mode, the brightness isn’t bright even in the brightest native setting but ince you activate the HDR mode and then adjust the brightness setting there it is plenty bright! I have it turned down only for the reasons i like the black object to stay somewhat dark, and you turn up the brightness then you start to lose that contrast. Other than that, its bright. Other concerns were the OLED burns-in, theres a few options that LG offer to mitigate these future issues one being th pixel cleaning feature and then pixel shift mode(s), a nice mindless feature which shifts the pixels to prevent burns, especially us that use this as a main display for PC, theres alot of icons that don’t move such as the desktop folders, icons for applications and bottom taskbars. The controller is a nice feature, your not hunting around for a knob and messing around with the typical ‘joystick’ button that LG likes to use in other displays. Nice little feature i thought to mention. Overall, I tried to talk myself out of this monitor, looking at the G9 OLED in comparison in store, this one really sold me, I’ve had this monitor at the time of writing this review for about 3-weeks and I don’t have buyers remorse for it.

Great monitor, super fast and responsive. 800R curve is a must on a monitor this size. Note that it is a 3440x1440 at 45inch format so the pixel density isn't going to be as good as the same resolution at a smaller dimension. Purely for gaming it's great, it passes for work but texts can get fuzzy depending on how small the text your reading is. Doesn't affect me much but it is important to note if you're planning on using this monitor for work and play like me. HDR performance is so-so on Windows. I'm currently on Windows 10 but I've heard HDR settings are improved on Windows 11, likely my perception would change once I do upgrade to it. HDR performance on the PS5 is pretty good however, the monitor auto detects HDR content and enables it by default. Also, mount this thing. The stand is massive and pretty obtrusive. I'm planning on mounting this as soon as the mount arrives. It's pretty light for it's size (~18lbs) so you'll have plenty of options in terms of mounts.
