Not for EVERYONE! HiSpeed Connections Reduced
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by explaining the review summary. This solution is not the best option for connections higher than 200Mbps due to bandwidth and hardware restrictions. It is a great system but it isn't for me. I run the original Velop setup with three triband satellites as my preferred setup. They offer ethernet ports on the satellites as well which is another huge plus. Basically these offer the same experience but made for different tiers of connectivity speeds. With that being said, let's get down to the details. Setup is easy and overall a simple process. Everything is done through the Linksys Wi-Fi app. This is seen as a positive for some and but also a negative for others. With this 3-pack system, it includes a base unit which connects by Ethernet cable to the modem plus two remote units that can be placed anywhere in the house. Find an electric outlet you can sacrifice for wireless connectivity and you are done. The wall units are not too big and blend in to a wall. There is NO web interface to work on your network since ALL is done in app. Follow the setup prompts, name your Wi-Fi network, and you are up and running in less than 10 minutes. I am disappointed by the lack of QoS controls and other advanced features with this product... I must say. the BIG miss for me here was the lack of USB ports and ethernet ports on the actually nodes! You cannot use these to make a hard connection to let's say a game console, older smart devices that do not use Wi-Fi, or a place for your VOIP device. Sad, sad, sad day when I tried to use this at my home. As far as performance goes, coverage is excellent, but due to the lack of a dedicated backhaul band, your bandwidth/speed is greatly reduced. The plugin units are 2.4GHz which severely handicaps traffic especially bandwidth and speeds on the network. You have only the base to handle 5GHz traffic and depending on its placement you may run into higher band connection issues. This solution isn't the best Velop system on the market and it shows here. This bundle reduces my speeds by almost exactly 50% compared to using my ORIGINAL Velop system. This is because the higher level Velop system has a dedicated backhaul band. If you have lots of devices and rely on speeds like a gamer, this setup may not be for you. Wireless signal strength was tested using an app on my phone, and the strength was solid from my top level where my rooms are all the way to the basement. Overall, this is a great system for the average home less than 5,000 sqft, less than 12 devices, and connection speeds of less than 200Mbps. If your speeds are higher than 200Mbps, consider the original Velop system. If you are on Gigabit speeds, don't even bother looking here. It will work, but you will only see like 120Mbps. This is a bottleneck in any network designed with high speeds in mind. If you seek strong coverage with evenly distributed bandwidth, this is for you. If you are an advanced IT user, this will not be enough. This lacks features and administrative customization since this experience is aimed at the average to new networking customers. System installation is straightforward, and control through the app is easy. Recommended for average home users.

The easy way to mesh
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can remember the days when I had to cover nearly 3000 square feet with a router and a wireless access point. There were times where I would have 2 wireless routers with one in bridge mode so that I can maintain a single network. Now, there are the new mesh networks offering extensive Wi-Fi coverage over large areas with seamless transition as one moves throughout the coverage area. The Linksys Velop system provides a wireless mesh that’s easy to setup. The first thing I look at with any electronics purchase is packaging. Good packaging gives me comfort that the product is functional and serves as a first impression of device value. The Velop system is packaged very nicely and securely. It makes you feel as though Linksys values their product. It’s very easy to open, and each piece of the product is tightly secured providing decent protection from damage. The Velop is pretty easy to setup. You have a couple of options for getting it up and running. You can either replace your existing wireless router (wired as well, if you have a port switch built in), or you can add it to an existing network by bridging it. I found both ways to work equally well, and with the Linksys app (Android or iPhone), you will have no problem installing and configuring the Velop system in a snap. I think that may be one of Linksys’ biggest plusses. They have really done a superb job of making installation an absolute breeze. I feel there is a very small and limited portion of the user base that can’t set up a Velop network in their home – it is really simple, following the setup wizard. Well done Linksys. Once installed, the wireless coverage is outstanding, and the throughput is admirable. Velop fills an averaged sized home with a strong signal, even providing decent coverage just outside the home. Network speed was good throughout the coverage area. I do notice a difference in performance with devices near (connected to) the base node. This is expected due to it being the only wired backhaul point in this Velop system. That brings me to what will be a problem for some. In this version of the Velop system, there are only 2 ethernet ports, and they are located on the base node. If you have wired devices, you will need to purchase a switch and wire them back to the base node. Also, the wall plug nodes have no ethernet ports, so they only allow wireless connectivity. Having used a 3 node Velop system previously, the wireless only wall nodes feel limited. Don’t let that discourage you though. I still view this version of the Velop as a great solution for those looking for a great wireless solution that’s easy to install. All in all, this is excellent, full home wireless made easy. Just about any user can install it in a snap, and the coverage is outstanding. I think the wall plug nodes make for a nearly invisible equipment presence, and the Linksys app is very explanatory and easy to navigate. For the everyday user looking for next level Wi-fi coverage, look no further.

Immediate Impact
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am leery of reading and writing premature reviews, but I have to say that less than a week into having this system, I’m AMAZED at how impactful it’s been! My WiFi speed-across the entire house-is now consistent and dependable. I have a 4,100 sqft, 2-story home so getting a good signal before was a challenge. This system has completely mitigated that issue. Well worth the investment and makes me wonder why it took me so long to finally get here.

A very good system, no ethernet jacks on repeaters
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is proving to be a very decent system, with the full features you'd expect from a mesh WIFI system. The system does a decent job of pushing out a strong signal. And it does it via the 2.4 and 5.8 ghz frequencies. Speed tests reveal I'm able to use. the full speed my internet provider has said I pay for. I'm using FIOS with 100mbps speed, and seeing that much from this mesh WIFI system. My only concern is that the repeaters are plug in units, that plug into an outlet (it is a big repeater for a small outlet), lack any ethernet ports.. And they take up valuable outlet space if you are short on those as most of us are. So you get a base, and two remotes that just plug in and have no ethernet jacks. Not bad for most, but if you need those jacks you will be missing out. The main unit has the power input, power switch, and reset button on the bottom of the main unit. Not bad, just different. The unit is large, like the original dual band units. The app is very easy to use, has cute animations while you are waiting for the devices (or nodes as they call it) to the main receiver unit. Very easy to use, flexibility in many areas when setting up, or simply viewing your device/network status. I've mixed in both older technology dual band and these newer tri-band units, and they work fine together. I mention this because if you update your main node and repeaters, you haven't thrown your money away because you can fill in any blank spots with the older units. Nothing Linksys makes has ever anything other than stellar. This is no exception! Thanks Linksys for making up such a decent product/system.

Complete and Lightening Fast Mesh WiFi System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Linksys Velop AC Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System was literally the easiest setup of any device I've used recently. This system was setup on an existing internet/wifi home system. Setup from opening the box to online was less than 10 minutes. The Velop Tri-Band system is packaged well and includes the 3 nodes, power cables, an ethernet cable and an install guide. Follow the setup guide, download the iOS app and walk through the steps. Basically you need to set up the first node and then add additional nodes within the app. I installed all 3 nodes and it provides complete and solid coverage for our 3,800 sqft. home. The app is also a great addition to the system, with many features to manage your internet connection, users, nodes, etc. I manage two different systems with the app and love it. Pros: - The Velop nodes are esthetically pleasing vs. the usual drone looking routers with antennas pointing in all directions. - The new wall plug nodes are low profile and super easy to install - Setup is a snap - Ease of use of iOS app for setup and maintenance - Blazing fast speeds and covers my 3,800 sqft home with full bars via Mesh support Cons: - Can only be set up on Android or iOS phone – shouldn’t really be an issue for anyone at this point! - I have a handful of wired devices and needed to buy a switch to support them with the Velop system as there are only 2 ethernet ports on the main node. The Velop AC Tri-Band Mesh System is the real deal, I would recommend to anyone looking to update their home wifi setup. No issues with dropped signal, very pleased with the overall experience.

Great Mesh Network
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the previous generation Velop for some time and found them to be great for my household! Who doesn't want perfect WiFi coverage in the garage or front/back yard. This newer generation of Velop is actually a bit faster, and the setup was a bit quicker than the last gen. The main unit is pretty much the same design of the previous generation Velop unit. Only this time, the other routers are simple wall plug versions. I've seen other mesh networks starting to do this, and I imagine it's to save space on counters, shelves, or desks. The first thing I realized was that I had a media server that was only connected via Ethernet. I did this to cut down on latency from streaming videos from my Apple iTunes library. The previous velops were all identical, with at least two ethernet ports on the bottom. So, when I set this one up, I ended up having to move the cable modem and main Velop near the server to ensure it was connected. I didn't bother running ethernet in the walls, due to the expandability of the previous gen Velop. Oh well! The setup was really easy this go around. The app walked me through the setup quickly and easily. The configuration seemed to save a bit quicker, and allowed the entire setup to go smoothly. After a few minutes of setting up the plug ins, I had a whole home WiFi network up and running. To make my setup easier, I used the same network name (SSID) and password of my previous Velop network. All but two of my devices connected. The others just needed to go through setup again on their respective apps. So far, I've been able to get WiFi all over my home (full bars), aside from part of my backyard. My Velops are all located in the same general locations of the previous gen, but I'm guessing the plugins don't provide as much coverage of the main Velop. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this generation Velop. The in network speeds are so much quicker with my newer AC wifi devices, and I have yet to notice any major buffering or lag on any gaming system network. Highly recommend you give this one a shot!

Works all through my house
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I haven’t had any problems with it working, very easy to set up and works from my phone. That’s about all I know about it. I have fast internet 600 MB’s at modem, 300 on my phone occasionally buy mostly around 150 to 200 MB’s at devices. Usually have around 15 devices on all the time, Now there’s WiFi 6. Don’t know what to tell you, if I could I would switch to WiFi 6 but that’s too expensive. All I can say is good luck with WiFi.

Whole house wifu
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product! We own a side by side duplex (total square footage is 1600 sqf) and installed the base in our unit and one of the plugins in the other unit. They connected great and it's a strong enough signal. We used a signal booster before but wasn't happy with it. This setup is so much better!

So Easy Even a Ludite Can Use
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The quickstart guide had my house filled with wifi within 20 minutes. We have 2 nodes in our 4800 square foot house and after putting a node in the garage (slightly more than half way through the yard) I can get wifi for streaming music throughout our 4 acre yard while mowing. So much easier than having to fight with range extenders (which usually don't work reliably).
