Gifted myself this speaker for my birthday and I'm so happy with it. It sounds decent for the size; I never turn the volume above 50%, and it's plenty loud and clear for me at that volume (using the speaker with an iPhone 12 Pro). The two 2"-drivers are positioned opposite each other to the right of the Marshall logo, while the passive radiators are to the left. They produce a nice punchy sound; you'd have to listen to it yourself but I can say it's perfect for me in my bedroom. Even outside, it sounds awesome. Because one driver and one passive radiator are facing the back, it can get a bit overwhelming if the speaker is placed against a wall; so I try to keep it on a table/desk with enough space to spread out the sound; again, I never push the volume above 50%, and I think beyond that it'll start to adjust the EQ to reduce bass output (which is okay for a speaker this small). It feels like it's built like a tank. The rubber on the outside has a nice texture and the buttons are nice and clicky. The grills on the front and back feel very sturdy. I haven't tried bringing the speaker in the shower or out in the rain, but the IPX7 means it can take a good dunk in water; just make sure you fish it out right away! The controls are very intuitive; Marshall have a winner with the multi-direction button; press to pause (long press to turn off/on), and press in any direction to control and volume and to go to previous/next track; I love speakers with track seeking controls because sometimes my phone is not at arm's length. The battery indicator is also a winning feature; it features 10 small bars, which I'm assuming are 10% per bar, a total of 100%. The lights never turn off while the speaker is in use, but they dim to conserve energy until you press the multi-direction or Bluetooth buttons. Excellent user interface. The absence of a microphone is a not a big deal because I never use my Bluetooth speakers for phone calls, but sometimes I like using Siri and it would've been nice to have a microphone. Of course, USB-C for charging is perfect. I wish the speaker came with a charging adapter in the box but a regular 5W iPhone adapter works just fine, as well as plugging in to a computer/laptop of course. Hopefully I haven't missed anything worth mentioning regarding the Marshall Emberton. It's a great small speaker that looks and sounds fantastic; can't beat the Marshall aesthetic.

Just picked up this outstanding bluetooth speaker. I received a JBL bluetooth speaker with similar dimensions and price as a gift--late in 2020, and found the JBL lacking in music presence and frequency range. The Marshall far outperforms the JBL in every way--especially in sound quality where realistic bass and sound field emanate from this tiny package. I use the bluetooth speaker for my iPhone music while barbell training in my garage (25-ft x 35-ft x 12-ft). I have a limited work bench space to set up a speaker system, and the 3-in x 3-in x 6-in dimension is perfect for setting up just about anywhere on my crowded tool chest/bench, and I can stow it away in one of my tool bench drawers when I'm not using the speaker. The overall build-quality is superb. You can feel the difference over the JBL--the Marshall weighs 1.5 lb--a dense package indeed. The speaker fires from both sides of its 6-inch long dimension. I've tried various positions, and the speaker sounds best set up on a bench or counter, standing on its 3-inch short dimension with the control knob facing the listener. The sound field emanates from the left and right sides of the 6-inch dimension for a larger sound scape. The speaker doesn't sound as optimal sitting on its long dimension with the Marshall logo facing you--the sound is "smaller". The rubber coating all around the speaker, and the sturdy speaker grills make it ideal for a portable garage space speaker since it might get tossed around or dropped from its location into a pail of mop water (the speaker is water proof). I typically control the volume through my iPhone, but you can control the sound directly from the speaker control knob. The power jack is tricky--as it appears to have no specific orientation--but it only connects one way--so don't force it into the female end on the speaker--insert the jack gently to see--and if you encounter resistance--rotate the jack 180-degrees, and insert. The opposite end is a typical male-end USB jack for connecting to a charging station or another computer. I bought mine on sale for $129 + sales tax. The JBL had a similar retail value ($100). The Marshall is the no-brainer choice. It must be popular, because I bought the last one my local Best Buy had in stock. Enjoy yours today.

Compared to competitors this one is either a winner or in the top 3. Excellent sound, great design and build quality, long-lasting battery. After playing with it for a while I figured that for the best experience it needs to be placed on a hard surface a few inches away from the wall or another hard surface to bounce the rear speaker sound off. Ideal for a shelf in a small room and can be carried around easily if desired. After buying one bought a second two months later. Cons - lack of input options, Bluetooth only.

This was my second wireless speaker from Marshall. My first one was the smaller version which I use all the time. The sound quality/volume is MORE than I expected on both. I’m prior service and worked on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier, volunteer at my local gun range, instructor, and ride motorcycles.….I’m HARD OF HEARING so I like things at a volume I can hear, this thing delivers. If your just wanting something for a dorm room, apartment, or your bathroom so you can become the rock star you’ve always wanted to be in the shower, the smaller version is for you. It’s PLENTY LOUD enough. If you want something to be your primary source of sound in a modern sized home, or if your shenanigans moves to the backyard for a swim party or barbecue, this version is for you. Only con I’ll assign it is the battery life. I’m still impressed with it, but I’m not getting the advertised battery life on the package.

this little hand held speaker has good bass! I love the feel, the aesthetic and of course the quality of sound. I got it on sale which made the deal even sweeter.. thanks best buy! xx

I am glad I bought this speaker. I seen it on sale and I decided that I was going to buy it. I like to travel and this can easily fit in my backpack. The sound is great and the battery life is around 20 hours. Well worth it. It’s a small speaker but packs a serious punch!

This lil speaker is great. I love the look of it & it even feels high quality. It is not a cheap speaker, so you're definitely paying for quality sound. It great for office, work shop or any other room. GREAT SOUND!

Great sound for the size, better bass than expected. Stays charged for hours. The downside is the hole for the charge port is to small to allow the usb-c cord to be inserted all the way in which leads to it falling out. I had to cut a small piece of insulation so I could insert it all the way in.

I have the Emberton 2 speaker, also the killburn speaker and both speakers has an excellent sound . The only thing I didn't like is the battery life, it doesn't last more than 6 hours with the volume to the maximum

This is my second Marshall speaker purchase. My first one is the kilburn. So I saw this some and Where do I start with this speaker?? Wow it’s so amazing, sound quality is top notch. Honestly it’s the best sounding speaker I’ve heard from one this size. Battery life is outstanding, it’s says 20+ hours and it’s accurate, it last a really long time. Yeah I’m really impressed with it and I get compliments on it everywhere I take and is now my new favorite speaker. It’s just so easy to look at. Lol.

My initial attraction to this awesome Bluetooth speaker is the fact that it departs from the typical soda can looking Bluetooth speakers that are out there and provides a cool, vintage-vibe looking speaker that supports Marshall's legacy as an excellent speaker and amplifier company as well as providing incredible audio out of a speaker at this price point. As is typical of Marshall consumer audio-products like their Bluetooth headphones, this speaker includes all the fun quirks of the brand. All of the speaker interaction sounds that go with powering the speaker on-off etc. are little guitar riffs and other electric guitar sounds. That is fun and sets this speaker apart from other run-of-the-mill speakers. The multi-control knob is fluid for skipping songs, increasing the volume, and turning the device on and off with a separate button solely committed to Bluetooth connectivity (this utilizes Bluetooth 5.0). The rubberized, textured feel of this speaker feels high quality--absolutely a cut above the competition. This speaker feels like it could take a tumble from a height no problem and live to play another day--not that I was willing to toss this on the ground to test that assumption! A neutral observation to note with this speaker. It is Bluetooth connection only. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack, so be aware of that. Other speakers in the Marshall lineup certainly have 3.5mm headphone jacks. My opinion on this is that, for one, the higher waterproof rating (IPX7) is achieved with the exclusion of this jack as it is, by design, a higher-likely point of ingress for moisture than the strict USB-C this speaker utilizes for charging. None-the-less, if you are looking to use this speaker in conjunction with a 3.5mm audio input device like a vintage iPod (how crazy to have to say that!), an Echo Dot, etc. The sound. The sound the sound. Oh how I love the sound of this speaker. I have review a lot of Bluetooth speakers. So when I turned this on and put on my audio testing playlist, trust me when I say I was astonished by the sound! The two 2" 10 watt speakers produce incredible highs, great mids, and respectable bass notes out of a speaker of this size and build. Furthermore, their claim to a 360 degree sound I feel is accurate. I tested this speaker in different spaces throughout my house, and I found that the sound had an even reverberation and tonality through the space it was placed in. The speaker gets LOUD too. Definitely could be a respectable audio source for a houseboat party float, backyard bash, etc.! One last cool little feature I wanted to mention is the charge level indicator located on top of the device. This is my first speaker to have a clear and constant visual indicator of how much battery charge is remaining which is really neat! I cannot speak to the claim of a 20 hour runtime, only that that is based on the power demand of the device and that Marshall almost certainly tested that runtime at a fixed volume, probably in the midrange. Thus, higher will drain the speaker faster, lower slower, etc. Overall, I think the price for the value of the product you are getting with this little Emberton speaker is awesome. I highly recommend it if you are someone who is as concerned with the looks of an audio device as you are its features and sound!

If you’ve ever been to an arena rock concert (1960s - 2019 art form), then you’ve likely experienced the Marshall brand and amplification on stage — possibly even an entire wall of Marshall Amps capable of leaving your ears ringing for days. My history with Jim Marshall’s legendary British amplifier company dates back to the 1990’s when I purchased my first Marshall guitar amplifier. You can imagine my enthusiasm when given the opportunity to evaluate this Emberton miniature bluetooth speaker. Marshall Amplifiers and Gibson’s Les Paul electric guitars are iconic staples, synonymous with Rock ’n’ Roll. Visualize The Who, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Def Leppard, Guns N Roses Slash, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Muse, Randy Rhoads, Ozzy Osbourne, Nirvana, Eddie Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, ZZ Top, and many more. Even Nigel Tufnel’s Marshall Amp on cult-classic Mockumentary “Spinal Tap” famously “goes to 11”. Just as Marshall had various vintage amplifier models spanning decades, including : - JTM 45 - ’62 Bluesbreaker - ’59 Plexi - ‘70s JMP 2203 - 80s JCM 800 - 90s JCM 900 - JCM 2000 - JCM, JVM, DSL and more This is far from their first bluetooth portable speaker, but it is the NEWEST and MOST AFFORDABLE - $149 Emberton < * this product here * > - $160 Stockwell II - $199 UXBridge - $249 Action II - $249 Killburn II - $299 Action II (voice) - $349 Stanmore II - $399 Stanmore II (voice) - $399 Tufton - $499 Woburn II While the classic Marshall sound is predominately a high-gain “crunch” sound, this little guy delivers Distortion-free music, even at max volume. This speaker really shines with a rich and smooth mid-range. Bass is adequately meaty (how much air can small drivers really move), and highs are clean and clear without tinny sounding harshness all too many portable speakers these days. “True Stereophonic” multi-directional technology is no gimmick. The sound field is super wide, open and airy. It never seems to strain regardless of what I pushed it wish. I was pretty blown away that it sounds as clear faced rearward, or even face down on the grille. It was convincing enough that my wife failed to identify which direction it was facing, front, back, side, upright, all sounded equally good. PROS ——— +“True Stereophonic” multi-directional 360 sound + H U G E sound from dense footprint + quick charge 20 minutes = 5 hours + full charge is 20 hours battery life + easy to see battery indicator on top + thumb joystick for volume + / - and track > / < + IPX7 waterproof certification (3 feet for 30 seconds) + rugged design, solidly built, quality craftsmanship + decent heft, rounded corners, silicone exterior + capable of filling a room with decdnt sound + USB-C (not mini- or micro-USB) + finally a lengthy charging cable + bluetooth 5.0 up to 33 feet CONS ——— -on-board EQ would be nice, but iPhone tools do the job -no ability to link to another unit for double speaker stereo -no support for aptX codec CONCLUSION ———————- There seems to be no shortage of cheaply made, low-FI bluetooth speakers to pick from these days. We’ve tried many of them to utter disappointment. This Marshall Emberton most definitely punches above it’s weight class. It’s rugged exterior, waterproof for 30 seconds @3-ft, and very decent sound quality make this a contender for an affordable portable speaker that maintains quality. Recommend
