I believe the battery needs to be replaced it says connected and not charging When im not charging my phone it shows as if it was charging. The battery also has been discharging pretty fast. Other than that I love this phone I love being able to have to screens to multi task, I also love that it can synchronize to my surface pro. Quality of the camera not so good yet.

This is a wonderful device and GREAT for productivity. With that being said though, it is not for everyone and you have to know what you are getting yourself into. The software still has bugs but is very useable. At least over time this aspect can be improved. I use this mainly to keep track of my office work and communications with MS teams. So far it has not disappointed! Also, be aware that using the dual screen will drain your battery significantly more, with the exception of less demanding apps like an e-reader.

Hardware issue and lack of support beware

Bought this on launch and it has been everything great about the surface duo 1 but fixed the bugs with the upgrade to modern hardware, However, I having a I am having a pixel issue on the right display on the inside curve. The issue started on what appeared to be light bleed from the edge but it can now be seen as a group of dead/stuck pixels on all colors other than true black and cannot get help from either best buy or Microsoft. Best Buy told me I'm out of return policy by 10 days since even no matter what their phones have 14day return policy, and if I want to use my geeksquad protection I would be paying my deductible even though is clearly a defect since the screen not cracked nor was the device dropped in anyway. As for going through Microsoft their support site for warranty on this device just loads to page unavailable and no number so my only option is the review. So I hope you know what you are getting into on this $1500 phone

THANK YOU MICROSOFT FOR INVENTING THIS!! I was holding off on buying the 1st gen due to the crazy amount of negative reviews. Although there were still a lot of negative reviews for this 2nd gen, I went into the store to test it out because the concept just sounded like perfection for my busy lifestyle. And... I LOVED it. It felt amazing and it actually LOOKED just as amazing. The 360 hinge is crazy and the camera quality is significantly better than my boyfriend's iPhone 13 Pro Max. On top of that... two apps at once?! Craziness. Everyone around me is always in awe of my phone and it really shows how Apple is so behind in giving people the wow factor lately. I will admit that it isn't as smooth as the iPhone. It's buggy at times and needs a restart at least once a week. I was definitely prepared for all of this and to be honest, the bugs and glitches were not as bad as I was expecting. I literally laughed at the thought that critics were complaining over such trivial things lol or maybe I'm just a more patient individual that doesn't demand things to be given to me at super speed. Sure, it's priced extremely high for a phone but you're literally getting two phones in one and it's only the 2nd gen. I'm personally a Windows/PC gal so the switch from an iPhone was a piece of cake - very intuitive. I guess if you were a male who didn't carry around a bag like every female does, this would not be an ideal phone for you. Also, the fact that I can play Xbox Game Pass on my phone is HUGE, along with the fact that a video is able to fill up one entire screen without any blacks on top/bottom due to the same dimensions AND spanning apps across both screens AND multi-tasking with two different apps at once AND copying + pasting from phone to computer AND paying with GPay on one screen + having your rewards app for a store to scan on the other screen AND I'll stop there... since there's just too much to say. The durability of this phone is also incredible. I viciously dropped my phone twice without a bumper (once on gravel and once on wood floor), and it still looks the same. No scratches on the outside glass, only some scuffs on the edges. I'm hoping that the 3rd gen will be just as smooth and fast as an iPhone but regardless, will continue to purchase the Surface Duo. Microsoft - please do not discontinue this phone over negative reviews from critics that are biased in favor of Apple!!!

Wonderful productivity device!!! Camera needed a whole revamp…most pictures sent to me were blurry or they came across as if the system thought they were a video and then they wouldn’t play. I had to get most pictures sent to me through WhatsApp for clarity. Everytime I used the camera to take pictures, the phone would start over heating. The feel of the phone was wonderful as well. Had a good weight. It didn’t feel cheap. Being able to open up forms and quickly edit and having my pictures automatically upload to my one drive so when I used my laptop (Dell) I had all my pictures and documents from my phone available or anywhere I signed into my Microsoft acct. It felt safe and secure and didn’t feel like I would lose access to all of that at any moment. Miss that phone. Now no phone on the market feels satisfying. Microsoft please make another surface duo phone just fix the camera issues. Consider making it like the Samsung flip 5 phone but with the width the surface duo 2 currently has. Samsung’s flip 5 would be perfect if a little wider and maybe a little taller. Good for thought.

I love the uniqueness of this phone! However, it does come with some downsides! I have had the hinges give out on me twice (within the warranty period so no issues getting it replaced), the software is a little buggy, however they are releases updates monthly which gives me peace and mind that one day it will be up to android standards! Overall, if you like unique technology and android this is a pretty good phone!

Upgraded from the first gen Duo. I have to say that I am impressed. The screen is more vivid than before. The added cameras seem to look like that they impede the folding, but not at all. It's made to be a professional tablet that happens to make phone calls. Unfold it into tablet mode to get busy, or look at the glance bar to check the status of the Duo 2. I love the rounded edges of the screens to accommodate the bar. It really is a fantastic "phone". If you desire different. A certain conversation piece. This is definite a way to go. The price point is a small concern, but match it with another phone. You will be surprised. Especially the 888 Snap Dragon inside it. The camera array. There's a couple pluses, and a couple minuses. Cons are that the MPs are not as high as I would have wanted, but on that end, the software more than compensates for the lackluster. The front camera is 12 MP. A huge upgrade from the first Duo, and works in any position you place the fold. The stabilizer a good add-on for those moving around. I have the Obsidian... a fingerprint magnet. Still, pretty no matter how greasy the closed Duo 2 is. Easy to clean off. Get a case. Shirt pockets are great, as this fits mine well. I don't wear pocketed shirts often, and this "phone" needs a proper place to live while on you. Being a specialty item, it's difficult to hunt out a proper case. I've tried a couple so far that just don't seat it properly. Better to have hands on when looking. The internet unfriendly at times. It runs 11 and will take 12L when it comes out. The first one still on 10, and unsure on the OS update. I'm hoping for it tho. Unlike the Duo 2, The Duo is quite buggy, glitching every so often. Duo 2 OS is fresh, unique, and fun to play with. Split apps to run 2 at the same time will show she a beast running anything with no issues (OS wise... I have found that my WordScape game has yet to perform right. Full screen crashes, and flipping to screen 2 is not well received.) Battery life is better. I can go a full day with use without charging. Video.. Connecting to my Windows at home for their files. I got down to 17% once running 18 hours of Sirius and Disney+. Is it kid friendly? Not at first. But he got the hang quickly. It wasn't made for the younger group anyway.

Excellent hardware. I've been using this device since the beginning, and it has been been a bitter sweet experience, until Android 12L. It improved the software exercises even more. The hardware is great, if you understand that this device isn't a folding tablet. It's a multi-tasking device. Yes, you can span video, but only if you are good with the gap. My only real regret is, I wish I could have waited a bit longer and got the 256gb for a cheaper price, instead of the 128gb at full price.

I had the original Surface Duo and loved it, it had some issues but this new model has addressed them all, device is so much faster, great camera, and a ton of good features. I reccomend it to everyone that wants to be productive on your phone, it is so handy to be able to pull up two different apps at the same time, plus the function where you can span apps across both screen as the same time makes viewing very enjoyable.

Wow. I didn't think I would like this device. I had the fold 3 already. I bought it simply to test out and ended up keeping it. The dual screens has been amazing. It is so much easier to multi-task on this device than on the fold 3. Being able to run two full apps side by side is amazing. The build. The build is great. The hinge they use couldn't be better. Battery life is good also. I get a full day and then some. The software does have some bugs. Sometimes the orientation gets stuck. But overall. I love this device. I truly hope Microsoft keeps updating the software and keeps this line going. They really have something special here.

It’s a Great phone for those individuals who need to multitask when using office products for work. If you are always on the go away from the office, it’s by far way more convenient than pulling out a laptop or a tablet. As for social media and other uses, the android operating system seems to lag a bit, but with future android updates I can for see it being one of the top phones on the market. The camera works pretty great. So far I have had the phone for 1 month and enjoy it very much. I was a iPhone user for the last 10 plus years so adjusting to the android system vs iOS is still a learning experience. A major con is that their isn’t much accessories on the market for this phone for protection.

Sophisticated, Elegant, and quirky. The Surface Duo 2 delivers, but with a learning curve. I was initially hesitant to pick up this phone after reading the initial reviews. Reports of buggy and unresponsive software kept me away from purchasing at launch. However, I am happy I ended up taking the leap and purchasing one. In regards to the software, it appears that most of the initial issues have been resolved. The device feels snappy and responsive, and Microsoft apps are optimized to run at their peak performance. Using OneNote is a dream. The pen experience is second to none, with incredibly low latency and precision. The Duo also has no issues working with my knockoff RENAISSER Raphael 520 Surface Stylus. This has been the only device I have edited a word document or excel file with, since the dual screens allow to type while being able to see what you are actually working on. I love being able to read an ebook while taking notes during my morning commute, and it appears that most of the popular apps. are optimized for all modes. The drawback to the Duo are the quirks. The gestures take some time to get used to. It is not that they are bad, but they can certainly be an unintuitive at times. The added complexity of the dual screens also leads to added mental complexity to operate the device. At times, the Duo behaves like two separate phones that have been joined together. However, when you get used to this, the phone becomes easy to navigate. There are a few bugs that I have experienced. There was one instance of an icon remaining on the screen after I had removed it, and one other instance of a system crash. Both were easily resolved with just a simple reboot. I have also noticed that the touch input is sometimes unresponsive when interacting with the curved portion of the class. Despite the quirks, I love this phone. It has improved my workflow, and I love having the ability to quickly, and easily, write notes with a pen.

Excellent Product! I couldn't have been happier to purchase this item. Best Buy Mobile Experts were very knowledgeable and very helpful. I had the opportunity to trade in my phone and recieve credit towards my new phone. Data transfer was not the fastest nor was the responsiveness of the keyboard, but the surface Duo 2 shines in multitasking as I can kickback and watch Netflix on my phone while surfing the web on the dual secondary screen. The phone behaves much like a mini laptop/tablet/phablet with a type c mouse connected. Little input lag and okay battery life. Some improvements could be made to the software to make orientating the screen around more user friendly in any position. Phone calls could be slightly louder and messaging friends, business associates and family with pictures, data files, and videos could be made slightly easier. Camera picture quality was great and convenient. Slightly heavy one handed and I wish the dual screens be able to create a seamless picture much like the fold 3. Wish this phone had a quick and easy to use mini screen on the front cover much like the Samsung fold 3 as the cover is very easily damaged by even just your typical car keys. Overall I recommend this phone to only those who have the pockets to do so as this device does not make a very good gym buddy due to its width and durability. The pen is a great bonus add on but If only it could be clipped on as it falls off the magnets fairly easily. Buyer beware of the phones fragile nature and if only the accessories were so easily available.

Without a doubt the best phone I've ever had. Multitasking is great, especially for work stuff like Teams and emails. Had a couple bugs on Day 1 but update on Day 3 fixed everything. Would highly recommend this phone. Traded in iPhone 11 pro max to get the $700 off so wasn't too bad a price, either. Camera is sub par but not revoltingly so.
