Outstanding Portable Keyboard & Trackpad

I bought this to complement a Surface Go I recently bought, and cannot say enough good things about it. I am still evaluating the Surface Go itself and can't say it's as good as my iPad Pro 10.5", but I CAN definitively say this Microsoft keyboard is vastly superior to the iPad's more expensive and less capable one. Note that the iPad's keyboard has no trackpad, and you can't use a mouse with it.
This keyboard has keys with excellent travel, decently spaced considering its size, and a wonderful trackpad that rivals Apple's. I have never seen a Windows trackpad that could compete with an Apple one for smoothness and precision, but this one does. The left-click feel and pointer precision and speed were perfect out of the box, and I didn't have to make any adjustment at all.
This keyboard also has a lighted Caps lock button and adjustable backlighting, unlike the portable Apple keyboard for the iPad, and soft felt-like palm rests. It clasps magnetically to the Surface in a very similar way that the iPad does to its keyboard, which also serves as the power connection, so no batteries are needed, nor does it ever need to be charged.
The keyboard also lays flat against the Surface's screen and magnetically clasps to the frame. Overall thickness and weight between the iPad Pro and the Surface Go with keyboards attached are very similar, though the iPad tablet is about 2mm thinner than the Surface tablet itself. The iPad keyboard itself is smaller and narrower when set up, though Apple chose to also use the keyboard as a stand for the iPad, which adds some bulk when you fold it to stow - whereas the Surface keyboard is entirely flat, since MS built the stand into the Surface itself rather than the keyboard. End result is the Surface keyboard is much larger and more usable than the iPad's, includes a trackpad and more keys, yet is less bulky and takes up no more space when stowed.
I can say this keyboard/trackpad makes the Surface go very usable as a laptop if you're sitting at a desk in a hotel, and makes using applications such as Excel and Powerpoint much more usable and easy to manipulate than they are on an iPad. If you want a portable computer that's easy to tote and very usable as a PC when traveling, the Surface series with an MS Surface keyboard is the way to go. It also has a full set of function keys, as well as keys for brightness, sound, etc., which the iPad's doesn't. See photos - Surface on left.

The keypad functions as a keyboard as well as a protective cover. Because of this it is quite useful. Using it is much more useful than the touch screen capability. I enjoy this facet.

This keyboard is easy to carry around Incase you need it. It attaches magnetically and has a feature to use a keyboard stand. It is very thin and light weight. Attach or detach in seconds and store it away or carry it along.

You know i love the look of the fancy colored GO MS keyboards and wanted to get a blue or red one. Instead I got the plain old basic black one, it was open box from BB and looked ‘new in box’ to me when i got it in the mail...thanks BB. And I have to say I am glad I got this basic black one, I have a ms Surface pro 4 with that fancy fabric coating, gray’ish color. And yes, it feels fine and probably hides dirt a bit though if I got to pick a fancy fabric color it would be a color like blue or red...not gray (it was a package deal when I got the surface pro). Ok, so the GO keyboard feels great to type on, size is workable...after all it is only a 10” tablet guys/ladies. Three, yes three, as I recall black light settings...now you don’t get to pick colors...this is MS after all. Keyboard travel is great, keyboard protects the device when carried...well the screen is covered just don’t drop it. Actually, I don’t like carrying the GO without my keyboard cause it gives you something to grip instead of the glass side of the tablet if you follow my thought. Folds back for tablet view. Worth buying new or as open box and would not want a ms GO tablet without it, Plus I like how the plain black material feels, seems it will take dirt and other spills both of which will come off. Well don’t go and toss soda all over the keys you all, but a few drops on the frabic ‘type’ material will not be any issue at all. Now GO, I say, go buy one if you want the perfect GO keyboard.

If you think about getting the pen instead of the keyboard then you're in for a stressful time. I got the pen first and was frustrated because I couldn't open many apps or look at video correctly. Sometimes it was hard to get out of YouTube when I would watch videos in full screen but once I got the keyboard it took all the stress away. I was able to use it more sufficiently. I recommend to get the keyboard first before going with there pen.

This keyboard like clicks on to the Microsoft surface and is there for your typing and searching needs. It’s light, sleek and all Microsoft. Best accessory for the Microsoft surface. You can use your surface as just a tablet and do just reading, and they have cases that cover the tablet, but I love to type and I highly recommend Microsoft products and the surface go.

Got this with our Surface Go and it’s pretty great. We were worried about it’s size, but when you get your fingers on it, the keys don’t feel squished for size at all. Definitely recommended for anyone getting a Surface Go, and the only difference between this model and the $30 more version is just material of the keyboard, it feels just fine.

Microsoft typecover is good and lasts. It’s easy to clean with a damp cloth. Have had no issues with the magnetic attaching mechanism. Well-made.
I do think that it should be included in the cost of the computer and is just a way for Microsoft to eek more money out of the consumer.

I am SO happy with this keyboard! I planned to use my surface go as a tablet & wait to buy a keyboard, but this was offered as a “package” so I bought it. It acts as a cover, so it protects the computer, is light weight, is magnetic, & it lights up so I can use it in the dark! Highly recommend buying it with your Surface Go!

Purchased the Surface Go for my 11 year old daughter and she was easily able to grasp all the functions of the keyboard. Her 6th grade computer class allows her to bring the Surface Go with her and it easily works with all the Microsoft and IBM interfaces in the classroom.

Great Keyboard

I got this keyboard for my new Surface Go (which by the way is awesome), and the keyboard is great. The keys are backlit, it magnetically clips on and off easily, and the keys have enough travel to them to feel like a normal keyboard. The magnet is strong enough to keep it attached when I use it to hang on the back of an airplane seat and never detach . I do wish the other side of the keyboard had a small magnet to keep the cover closed like the iPad covers do. That would be my only negative about it.

This should be a default item with the Surface Go. Connects and detaches very easily. When you get the keyboard a half inch from the Go it docks itself. The keyboard is great protection for the screen in transit. The keyboard even light up so its great for dark locations.

While smaller in form and in key distance than a regular key board it has a nice tactile feel. I don’t know that I’d want this as my daily driver, per say, but it’s not unpleasant to type on. It fits very snuggly to the Microsoft Go and is very thin in form.....but $100 for it seems steep. Overall though it’s the best option for a keyboard and cover.

solid build, responsive keys and keys are raised/built just enough so you don't really miss a stroke. might take a couple days to adjust if you're moving from a traditionally spaced input device.
a bit pricey but it shows in the quality

Bought this for grandson's surface go for protection and so he could use it in class to take notes. He uses it daily and likes it a lot. It does not add much weight and it fits easily into a pack.
