You can probably tell by my review summary, that I'm a big fan of this laptop. Now, it's true that if all you're concerned with is price-to-performance, this is not the best value for your money. There are other laptops (like the HP Spectre x360) that are a much better value proposition. Don't get me wrong, this machine is very capable and aside from running some extremely heavyweight applications (AutoCAD or rendering a lot of video), you'll be just fine with most everything you can throw at it. Just for context, do a lot of Web browsing, Word and Excel work, and also Web/Software development mostly in Visual Studio and PhpStorm and this thing handles all those tasks with ease. The real value of the Surface line is in it's premium feel and extra attention to detail. The keyboard is really good and typing while resting your hands on the Alcantara fabric just feels premium. The screen is also very good. Even though the resolution is less than the Surface Pro's resolution (I have the Pro 4), you really can't tell the difference. It does seem to be a bit brighter than the Pro 4's screen too. Battery life is also great. I've been using this laptop at work where the WiFi signal is not great, but this thing never drops the connection and the battery lasts my entire day with juice to spare. I can go on and on about how much I really love this laptop. If you're in the market for a premium laptop, give this machine a serious look. You'll be glad you did. P.S. the Cobalt Blue looks absolutely awesome!!!! It looks a little metallic grey depending on the angle you're looking at it, but awesome nonetheless.

I waited a long time for a surface and when this one came out I just watched for a sale. It's everything I wanted - light to travel, more battery life than most, and runs windows. I contemplated spending $500 more for the laptop that bends backward to use as a tablet but I don't even do that with my tablet now that I already have so it was an easy choice. For the neat pen and paint programs, it's amazing.

Fast, slim, and lightweight. Great for traveling due to the sleek design. Feels good in hand. Easy to use and fun to operate.

Hesitated for about 6 weeks before making the purchase. Did my research, and decided I needed to upgrade now. My old laptop served me well but was time for a hardware update. Used the savings from the holiday discount, and upgraded to more memory, and larger hard drive. Sleek, looks nice, light weight, and has the more processing power than I will probably use.

Love how it looks, it's so pretty!!! Love the touchscreen that's why I picked windows over Mac. Wish the 512GB was a bit cheaper because I always feel 256GB is not enough for me to use since the system takes a lot of space already.

Love it, fast, and the display looks great. The color is amazing.

I have to start out by saying that I have had many great laptops over the years and some that just didn't quite measure up to their potential. I current have the first generation Surface Pro which I love for its speed and portability. The only drawback with the Surface Pro for me was the weight of the unit. I picked up the first generation Surface Laptop as an open box at a great price and put it through its paces of setting it up and upgrading from Windows S to Windows 10 Pro. That process was easy and once completed, I was ready to start using the Surface LT. Having an I5 processor, 8 gigs of Ram and a 256 SSD hard disk ensures that this laptop is super-fast for nearly all user’s needs. This screen size is crystal clear and the laptop is extremely light. The keyboard is back lite for working in darker location. My only wish is that it had a few more USB inputs because it only has one. I highly recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a top tear laptop that can be had at a lower price since the newer version has come out.

I’m in love with this computer. Best computer ever

This laptop certainly has its own position among the best laptops out there. It does not really stand out in any special category, but the total package is nevertheless an awesome machine. Pros: 1. Best in class build quality. This machine is constructed out of a single piece of aluminum. There is no screw, no seam whatsoever. The whole machine has no gap or removable parts except the hinge. Top-notch build quality, even better than the macbook pro I would say. 2. Good performance with no noticeable heat. I got the core I5 with 8GB RAM. The machine just runs flawlessly with no hiccup. I use it for programming and school projects. It did serve me well. 3. Good typing experience This machine provides good keyboard travel and experience. No complains here. 4. Good display and long battery life Display is really good.This machine's aspect ratio allows better web surfing experience than 16-9 ratio from other laptops. Battery lasts me all day. However, it takes up to 3 hours to fully charge from 0 to 100. Cons: 1. Pricing This laptop is typical Microsoft machine. It does not come cheap. 512Gb option costs an arm and a leg compared to similar hardware machines from HP and Dell (HP Spectre x360 2017 and even Dell XPS 13 2017) 2. OS Windows 10S is a no-no here. I have to update to Windows 10 pro for better productivity.

I am very upset with my Microsoft Surface Laptop intel core i5. I bought it about 1 month ago and every day that I use I have problems with the Blue Screen Error. The first time I had this problem, I used the "get help" tool and a Microsoft woman helped to stop this error, but my laptop did an automatic update and the error is happening again!

It's a gorgeous well built, light weight laptop. I upgraded it to windows 10 pro free of cost immediately and the performance is seamless. The display has an aspect ratio of 3:2, so you see more on the screen. The fabric around the keyboard adds a nice touch to the overall feel of the laptop. The only problem with this laptop is the lack of ports. Overall it's an amazing laptop, do recommend.

I'm a graphic designer and needed a more portable computer that would still be able to run my programs (Adobe CC). Let me say, it's a great little machine! I'm able to run multiple adobe programs at once and it hasn't slowed down. Runs great and only gets warm after all day use. Battery life is equally amazing. Only complaint, the trackpad isn't the best and a little uncomfortable. But, just use a mouse! Also, it's small, lightweight and extremely portable! BUY IT!

I replaced my dell mobile work station with a first gen, i7 and 8 gig of ram with this lap top. The performance is far better and the speed is far better. I considered a mac book pro with the same specs. as the surface, the deciding factor was the price. Then when I started working with the surface the touch screen was the clincher. It is great to scroll through web page's using the touch instead of using the mouse. The only neg. is it's not upgradable! So be sure to spend the extra $$ to get enough hard drive and mem. you will need. last but not least, going form a 13 pound beast to a 2.5 pound lap top is great.

So far, I'm really enjoying this computer. It is incredibly lightweight and it runs quickly. Also quick to start up and shut down, and the keys and surface of the keyboard are more comfortable than any other computer I've owned.

Outer build: Compared to its rivals, Microsoft Surface Laptop screen resolution shows content in a closer manner. As other laptops usually have 1920x1080, this 3:2 ratio really makes reading books or surfing on websites comfortable. If you don't like to read small letters and like your screen with more content then I'd recommend this laptop. As I love to see high quality photos in my screen/background, this laptop's resolution makes the letters refined without getting to the degree that strains my eyes. The black border of the screen is evenly distributed and thin to the point that it is not a bother and does not feel like it takes up a lot of screen space. In terms of Mousepad and keyboard, I think Mac win over Microsoft. The feel of Mac's keyboard is different and more consistent, whereas the surface has a little wobbly keys. The keyboard lit in this laptop is badly made. It is not balanced over all the keys and you can locate the light-bulbs from the strong lights emitted under certain keys. It is very light and good looking. I carry it around my backpack throughout the day without any shoulder or back stress. Inner build: I bought this to use it for college work and engineering. I would not suggest you buying this if you plan to run 3 or more heavy programs on this. It will run, but you might have to wait 2sec. often if you were heavy loading it. For its price and specs, this laptop is more for everyday uses (email, write essays, web searches) with all the comfort and beauty you need. I chose this because I'll spend more time reading and writing than doing heavy computing. If I had to do heavy computing, I'll just recur to the pcs that the college provides.

I am loving this laptop a lot! This laptop is one of the best on this $999 to $1049 price range. Light weight, fast, beautiful design, excellent keyboard, bright resolution, quality sound..Haven't found anything bad about it yet. Though would love to buy the Blue or Red one instead of this silver one I bought, as the prices for those colored ones were a bit higher

Needed something thin, lightweight, durable build, and nice display. My wife loves the quality, battery life, touch screen, and speed.

This laptop is great for travelers due to it's light weight. It works fast and is efficient and was super easy to set up.

The Surface Laptop is the most functional laptop I've owned. It is light, stylish and powerful. I never thought the touch screen would be that useful but I find myself using it daily for note taking and commenting on files and screen captures. The gloss screen really makes text and images stand out.
