Customers frequently mention the Surface Pen's ease of use, accuracy, and responsive nature as significant advantages, praising its writing experience and feeling like a natural pen. However, concerns exist regarding compatibility with certain Surface models, the relatively high price point, and battery life. Some users also reported issues with the pen tip's durability and button placement.

This pen is heavier than a normal pen, and sometimes the buttons get in my way. It's also a little costly, and I have a tendency to loose things but so far I have been lucky. As a student, the pen is a MUST and should come with the Surface. This pen is connected by Bluetooth to your tablet, which may take more battery but honestly the battery lasts me 6-8 hours so its not a big deal.
I just re-read the description and see it says "over 250 levels of pressure sensitivity and Palm Block technology", I'm not sure what this is really about...all I know is that it does what I want it to do! I love that OneNote knows the difference between my finger and the pen so I can scroll with my fingers and write with the pen (on the old surface I had to change to "type" every time I needed to scroll or it just scribbled all over the sides of my notes).

I like the MS Note function on the top of the pen, but wish it was also an eraser. The two buttons on the side, are hard to get used to...no natural way to press buttons while using pen.
The material and weight is great...doubt it is scratch resistant. I have used digitizer pens for many years so I know the tip will get worn out easily. I have used mine for 6 months but don't have any visible wear and tear yet.
Nowhere to connect to the Surface chassis. The pen loop does the job, but is not aesthetically pleasing at all. The pen does magnetically connect to the "base" if you're using the Surface with no keyboard or no cover.
Overall good product; but at the regular retail price of $50 is pretty steep, so keep a good track of it.

Good Stylus

The product is just about the greatest stylus I've ever used. The angles at which one can write/draw, the feeling/feedback that one experiences, even the weighting of the device all make for a great experience altogether. I've used many a styli, as well as every type of stylus. Including Microsoft's Surface Pen (albeit the older generation and not the new one released with the Surface Pro 4, so I cannot compare to it), Samsung's S-pen (3 generations, both tablet and phone iterations), and all of the regular to specialized tipped capacitive styli. None compare to the Apple Pencil. It is, admittedly, stupidly expensive, but it is also the best device if it's kind in my experience and humble opinion.

Great quality with 1 flaw

A great pen with high grade machine aluminum. However the pen has one flaw. The tip itself is a cheap plastic substance. With over 100 hours of tapping and writing, Mine fractured and was left with no tip. This has happened with 2 pens now. I am an IT computer analyst with many years in the trade so I know how to "tap with the correct force" on the screen. Other than that, being a best buy elite member, best buy swapped it out for me and I was on my way with no fuss in 5 mins. This is a nice pen great feel, but bad manufactured tip. I would still reccomend however, let's just hope you have better luck than me.

The pen is kind of a luxury item and is not really necessary. The newer pen feels a lot better when you use it on the screen but not sure if it is worth the extra money. Should come with the tablet itself rather than an adhoc purchase.

Great for Surface Pro 3

I originally purchased this as a replacement for my Surface Pro Pen. When I realized that they are not interchangeable I gave this one to my son as a spare for the one that comes with the Surface Pro 3. This is a great tool. Unfortunately for me Microsoft has quick making the ones for the Surface Pro and there are limited used ones for sale and they have gouged the price to twice as much as the originals.

The Surface Pro 3 is a workhorse and can get the job done. It works very well and its very adept at business work-based projects. The pen is a godsend and works extremely well. Overall, the pen is light weight and feels like a real pen and acts like a real pen so that notes can be taken naturally and converted to text very easily. Overall, a great product that I would highly recommend.

I have used several tablets in the last year from Dell to Google to MSFT and have found that across all of them the Surface Pro 3 with this style of pen has been working the best. The accuracy is great, setup is REALLY easy. The only issue is making sure you don't lose it :o).

I have a LOVE/HATE relationship with this pen. The PRO.... Works great with the Surface pro 3, awesome with OneNote. Its okay using it with Adobe CC mainly lightroom and photoshop. Cons, not 1:1 like wacom tablets are with Adobe CC, can't be used with Illustrator. Battery life on the pen are subpar, and they use TWO types of batteries. One set of batteries for the pen top button, which only opens ONe Note, which never works. Secondly, the pen uses AAAA(old phone and camera batteries), batteries which are very hard to find because no has LAN line phones anymore, so good luck. Maybe the second gen will be better

I find that I prefer the pen to using my finger on the touch screen. The screen reacts quickly to the pen and is more accurate when working with detailed items.

This works flawelessly on the Surface Pro 3. You can't get a better stylus. Of course, I paid $50 so it better be good, right!
I think they need to get this stylus down to under $20.

This pen is accurate and has great response for an active stylus. I wish more apps could use it to it's full ability, but for what it does, it's great.

You need to get one of these for your Surface. It is a slick way to navigate everything that the Surface has to offer. It is expensive, but worth it.

Good Pen, Somewhat Flimsy Plastics

It's a Surface Pen - it works well, it tracks well. It uses a AAAA battery (that is not a typo) to power the main pen and two very small batteries to power the top button. The criticism I have is that the plastic above the AAAA battery port can be easily cracked if you're not careful, so take care of the pen and make sure it isn't somewhere it could be easily damaged.

Purchased the Surface Pen for my Surface 3 since I use it for school. Use OneNote from time to time to take notes while in class and also annotate and highlight important relevant information since I'm very forgetful. I love how accurate and precise this pen is. If you're considering purchasing a Surface 3 this is a must have.

The Surface would still be usable without this pen, but the pen makes using the Surface so much better. This pen is easy to use, and figuring out how to use the buttons on it was a snap. My Surface Pro 3 came with its own pen, so if you're looking at a Surface Pro - you don't need to buy a pen separately. If you're looking at buying a Surface, then you need to buy a pen separately.

Good key feel / Takes some getting used to

Keys have good feedback when pressing them, it just takes some time getting used to a thing keyboard as it lays lower on the desk/table (a very small price to pay for basically not increasing the size of the "laptop"). It protects the screen when closed and doesn't add weight or size. Connects easily and it started working immediately (no setting up, pairing, etc).
