I leave in the window with my other solar equipment which charges fine but this does not. This will only charged when plugged into an active outlet and I doubt very much this will be able to charge a phone. Also, the charge does not last very long. Waste of money. I expected better from Midland.

Posted .Hello, please give Midland customer service a call at 816-241-8500 M-F 8am-4:30pm CST and we can explain how to operate this radio to your satisfaction. This product very easily charges a cell phone. If you do not have the weather band enabled the radio will stay charged for months especially if it is in a window and being trickle charged by sun through the solar panel.
This is perfect for an emergency kit

So we brought it back to NY and return it.

After turning the crank on this thing for I don't know how long, it never seemed to charge up. Won't be getting one like this again.
