Customers find value in the Nighthawk 32 x 8 DOCSIS 3.1 Voice Cable Modem's ease of use, strong performance, and straightforward setup. Many appreciate its voice support and competitive price, particularly as an alternative to cable company rentals. However, some users experienced compatibility issues with certain internet providers and reported problems with the Ethernet ports. The lack of built-in Wi-Fi was also a recurring point of feedback.

I have been very happy with the performance of my new Netgear modem. My first Netgear product was the CM500V - Docsis 3.0 modem @ 571 Mbps. This was on 24 hours a day for several years and worked perfectly. It was now time for an upgrade. I now have a new Netgear CM1150V - Docsis 3.1 modem with voice for Gigabit Speed. This was very easy to set up with Xfinity and, my new updated 1000 Mbps. plan. I am very pleased with my new purchase. The CM1150V is performing flawlessly and, I am now getting the speeds I was looking for @ 850 - 950 Mbps. This will also future proof my system for a long time. I attached a USB powered 120 mm 5 volt fan with Velcro dots to the right side of the modem and, an outlet power adapter. The modem runs very cool to the touch now… NO HEAT AT ALL. This is on 24 hours a day for voice. From my personal experience, I would highly recommend this Netgear modem for great performance. You won’t be disappointed!

    Excellent Upgrade From Xfinity XB6

BACKSTORY I have had GIGABIT Internet (part of my triple play package) with Xfinity since it hit my area. Xfinity installed their XB6 modem and everything was good to go. I purchased this Netgear modem for issues with the XB6. I live in Acushnet, MA and the cable infrastructure is terrible from Xfinity. They are "working" on fixing the town, so we shall see... I was on my 3rd XB6 modem from Xfinity. I was experiencing drops in speeds (at times could only get 400 down) almost daily. My home has NEW RG6 cable from Xfinity and I have a RG11 drop from the pole. I am also properly grounded and have no noise in the house (via Xfinity tech's test). The tap on the pole has been switched NUMEROUS times by the Xfinity line techs. They have also switched the COMMSCOPE CSMAPDU9VP Amplifier 4 times. The tech would test at the tap at the pole (full speed with no issues), test at the amplifier (again no issues but replaced 4 times), test from the amplifier to the RG6 line at the XB6 modem (again no issues), but when tested from the XB6 it would only test at less than desirable speeds (not within parameters). Tech's would scratch their heads and just replace the modem. After doing this 3 times, I got tired of paying the $13.00 a month lease fee and unreliable equipment. So I purchased this in hopes to have a consistent internet experience. I called Xfinity (highly recommend that over trying to self install) and had them remove their XB6 and install my Netgear modem. That took them about 20 minutes and then they had to transfer me to an overseas agent who then had to reset the Netgear modem, ping and test and then had me run my own speed checks. That entire process took about 30 minutes in total. REVIEW I have been extremely pleased with this modem from NETGEAR. My speeds are consistent across the board at any time of the day. I have not experienced any drops whatsoever (purchased and installed on 28 February 2020). The most I have ever received from GIGABIT here at my home has been 952 Mbps down and 43 Mbps up. Those speeds with my Netgear have been reliable and consistent. I keep it well ventilated and my only complaint would be the lights on the modem are not bright enough for me. I no that's nitpicking but they could have been a bit brighter (again my preference). As of my review today 28 March 2020 I have nothing to complain about. I purchased this for $249.99 and did also purchase the two year warranty from Best Buy ($25.99) for some piece of mind. I also purchased a NETGEAR Nighthawk X6S AC4000 Tri-band WiFi 5 Router.

I paired the modem with NETGEAR Nighthawk Smart WiFi Router (R6700) - AC1750 (purchased earlier). On speedtest.com easily getting speeds over 500 download and 12 upload. The wifi runs smoothly with more than 11 devices at the same time. No overheating issues. Resetting the modem is very easy . It also runs the phone service from comcast.

This NETGEAR Nighthawk unit was a perfect replacement for my Xfinity modem. It had the phone line connection and it was an easy setup. I use used the Xfinity on line app, entered the Mac numbers and that was it. Even I, who is not a tech savvy guy was able to get it to work quickly. One note of advice, if the Xfinity WIFI is your primary source then do what I did add a couple EERO Mesh units on each floor of the house. You will get better WIFI coverage, able to handle up to 24 devices including TV streaming as well. I would highly recommend this model unless you don’t need the phone connection. The model without PL is $50 less.

The first one I got had some type of problem and would not pass an IP on to my router. Netgear was absolutely no help and just kept telling me to contact Comcast. The second one works like a champ. On my Gig service I consistently get 920 to 960mb download speeds and about 40mb upload speed. It did seem a bit pricey and time will tell if it was worth the price. Very satisfied.

Link aggregation doesn’t work, they won’t fix it, junk support, closes cases because there is no resolution. Been trying to get this fixed for months, everyone online has same problem , google cm1150v lagg and read for yourself! Can’t return so stuck with junk, will never buy netgear again.

I downrated this due to my initial issues with a faulty modem. This appears to be the highest performing DOCSIS 3.1 modem with voice for Use with Comcast. Maybe the only one without built in router. It is pricy. It is a relatively new product and availability can be a problem. Due to this there may be some initial quality issues. It does perform very well, and is pretty much future-proofed at DOCSIS 3.1. My experience: After 2 hours with Comcast trying to activate the modem, they said it was a Netgear problem. I then discovered I couldn’t even connect to log on to the modem to see what was happening. It turned out the Ethernet port was dead. That brought up my second issue: availability. My initial purchase was the last one at my local store, and the closest available unit was an hour one way. Only 3 stores in a 50-mile range had one. Once I connected the replacement, it activated immediately. Speed test showed 158mbs on a 150mbs rated line. Voice came up clear with no problems.

Bought this along with Google WiFi to replace my Xfinity Router/Modem combo. Installed and tried doing the activation via the Xfinity website, but that failed. Called them up and in about 20-30 mins we had it up and running. Haven't had any issues thus far. It might be pricey, but it will pay for itself in two years when you're saving $13 a month on rental fees. Also, with the gig service becoming more relevant and standard in certain areas, you'll need this model if you want to see those speeds.

Great DOCSIS 3.1 Giga CM supporting xfinity voice

I've had this in continuous 24x7 use for over 12 months now and this is the only DOCSIS 3.1 gigabit speed cable modem on the approved Comcast list that supports xinity voice and easy self install. Appears very rock solid for a cable modem and able to hit > 940Mbps Internet speeds on Comcast in the Houston area. This is the only model that supports their digital voice service so if you don't need it then get the other less expensive model. Only had 2-3 issues with Comcast speed and reliability in the past year where the diagnostic web page shows the problem is caused by Comcast signal noise line issues which is not the modems fault. Easy to use the Comcast smartphone app on iOS/Android to remotely reboot if this every needed from anywhere anytime. This is not a router or wifi combo gateway so you will need to provide your own networking equipment, but this is exactly why I wanted it for use with use my own enterprise grade routers, switches, and distributed wireless access points. I'm also a seasoned IT professional so I'm always changing out my networking equipment and not using the junk that Comcast offers or charges through monthly rental fee where you end up making back the cost over 1.5 years.

Even though I had read review, which had installation or product issues, I had no issues with the installation , didn't even have to call comcast/Xfinity help desk . Followed the instructions that came with the box and activated the modem. After a quick modem restart connected the wireless router . Have been getting better speeds than the comcast modem. It holds the connection better . Good voice quality . If you want to save $13 per month , this is a good buy. It will future proof investment since it's DOCSIS 3.1 and over 2 Gigabits of speed.

My service provider is Comcast for cable tv, internet up to 300mbps wifi5, phone. My prior setup was a combination router-modem. Sometimes I called it the router. Sometimes I called it a modem. I didn’t really know the difference between the two. My download speeds were between 125 and 160. This device provided a wifi network, and three ethernet cables were attached to it, providing internet to three outlets around our home. For maintaining these services, I needed to buy two devices. This review is for both devices. For easier reading, I’m calling the Netgear Nighthawk CM1150V the “modem”. And I’m calling the Netgear Orbi AX6000 Wifi6 with 2 satellites the “router”. The modem translates the signal so it can be used inside your home. The Router breaks up the signal and sends it out to different places. The modem installation was first. I tried setup with a tablet, Chromebook, laptop. These were unsuccessful. It only worked with our desktop computer. Plan to have a desktop within reach of where you plan to leave this modem. I appreciate that the needed ethernet cable was enclosed with this modem. If you don’t own a desktop or have trouble, you will need to call Comcast for install support. I wish it came with a battery backup, because the only reason why I have this phone line is for emergencies. My cell service at home is very poor, and I want to be able to report power outages on my land line. Make sure you use phone port 1. The second port is for a second phone line, not a second handset. I successfully installed this modem. Next, I tried to hook up our three ethernet lines before installing our mesh wifi router. Even though there are three ethernet ports on the modem, this does not work. I had two choices. Choice 1: Plug my ethernet lines into the ports on my router components. Or choice 2: Buy and install a separate router for the ethernet lines, hook that up to the modem. I chose #1. Installing the router was not easy. I followed the directions, and then the internet could pull up Google search results but it would not open any websites. This was across all devices. I revisited www.comcast.com/activate and looked around. There, I updated firmware for my router base and each satellite. I went to Comcast’s online help, and did a troubleshoot. It ran a scan on my system, corrected what was wrong, rebooted my system, and everything then worked great. My wifi base unit is located inside our open back tv cabinet. It reaches the two satellites easily. The results: Downloads of 300mb. We walked down the block, and we could still stream movies on the other end of our street. We can enjoy fast wifi all over our house and yard. Our DVR guide is more clear and responsive. We took the time to set up a strong password because our signal is stronger than a college radio station. I highly recommend both of these devices. My home is about 4,000 square feet, with a very large detached garage. I recommend installing this system, over a weaker system with a separate outdoor router. My desktop computer that needed ethernet works great and directly plugs into my router. I’m glad I did not get the router package with three satellites, it was not needed for our two story, no basement home.

This is the best modem with voice for Xfinity. It’s way better than the Arris T25. You have to call Comcast but it’s not to painful. The main thing to remember is that when you connect it to your router use port one on the Modem and connect all your Lan connections to your router. The other ports on the modem won’t work unless you have a router that has port aggression in which case you’ll have two wlan ports and you would use ports 1 and 2 on the modem. I have giga speed with this modem so I get full use of my internet plan.

I'm paying for 400 Mbps down and 10 Mbps with Comcast (one of these days I may opt for the 1 Gbps speed tier). With this modem and my WiFi hardware (Fenvi AC-9260 Wireless PCI adapter) and motherboard (Z270 Killer SLI), I'm seeing these speeds at Xfinity's speed test: * On the 5 Ghz WiFi band, approximately 450 Mbps down and 12 Mbps up. * Using a 25ft, Cat6 ethernet cable instead, the download speed pops up to 460+ Mbps. Activation (for me) did not require a call to Comcast tech support, a development that I found surprising (in the past, changing modems required a phone call). I just followed the directions in the modem's installation literature and activation magically happened. YMMV. One warning: following activation, the modem rebooted/restarted at least twice. I presume that Comcast was provisioning the modem. So, plan on not using the modem for about 20 minutes after it's activated. After the initial 20 minutes of yo-yoing up and down, the modem has been rock solid ever since.

I bought a Netgear Orbi system to extend coverage in my house, and found that it did not play well with my Xfinity modem. Looking at articles on line, I found that this was not an uncommon issue. The Xfinity modem/router worked well, but just did not have the desired coverage alone throughout the house. As we also used Xfinity for phone service on one line, I chose this Netgear modem, after looking at many reviews of several different modems. I was also impressed with the statement that mentioned that it worked well with Xfinity, which I have found to be true. That, plus that we could keep our Xfinity phone line with this modem, and that it was capable of 2.5 gigabits/second, it appeared to be future proofed for a few years. Set up was very easy, especially after looking at some YouTube videos, as I am tech challenged. Connected to an Orbi router and two satellite extenders, I now have the coverage that I wanted, including outside on the deck or the patio on opposite sides of the house.

We purchased the Netgear cable modem with telephone feature to replace the Comcast Xfinity modem we had been renting for several years. We liked the ease of set-up and enhanced internet speed capability . It is very cost-effective to upgrade to this technology with less than a 12 month payback. The unit has performed flawlessly since we installed it.

I read most of the reviews online and generally, they were mostly positive. My only concern was something not going right with the Xfinity setup process. Fortunately, everything was a breeze to set up and the modem is fast as the Xfinity GB modem I was paying $13+ monthly for. I followed the Netgear instructions to the letter and in order. I suggest anyone setting up do the same. Take it slow. Don't skip any steps or instructions. I suspect most times if anyone has issues they have failed to follow these instructions to the letter. The instructions do say you should not only have your Xfinity info (which you do) but also the modems info (i.e. Mac address, MTA, etc). I took a photo of this info which is on the bottom of the modem so I could refer to it for activation. However, the Xfinity activation did not require any of it so was easier than instructions even indicated with no long strings of numbers to enter. I suspect Xfinity just picks up all that data directly from this modem. So once it was online I ran a speed test and got about 950Mbps and I have 1GB service so that is pretty much where it should be. Same as I was getting with Comcast modem. My only issue unrelated to this modem is my Asus AC3200 actually does not push thru all this speed even on their LAN port. Hooking computer directly to the Netgear modem I get all the speed but going thru my Asus router I get down to about 700MBps. So just be aware some wireless/wired routers might not be able to push thru all the speed this modem is capable of. I'm probably going to upgrade my wireless router to a Wifi 6 once those become better supported so both my wifi and LAN can pass thru all the speed Xfinity and Netgear are now pushing out!
