I have had this mounted in my car for a few weeks now and everything seems seamless. Once you have it mounted and plugged into power in your car, it comes on automatically when you start your ignition, and powers off when your car is turned off. Alternatively, it can run on a charge if you stick it on the USB charger in your home and just take it out with you each time. However, I wouldn't recommend that because it might run out of charge when you most need it. Constant power is best. It's compact, lightweight, comes off the windshield easily if needed.

Used this dashcam on a recent trip to the mountains and the videos came out great (I know that's not the primary purpose of one, but why not). The ability to apply the Nextbase Polarized Filter was really nice to keep the glare off of the window / video. The GPS and speed timestamp are also nice to have (sets the time and date via GPS as well). The mount is excellently designed as well. Video looks great, though at 720 / 60 FPS there were issues seeing license plate information when further away.

Very good quality recording & love the magnetic mount to just snap on & off. I believe this may be a Best Buy exclusive because when I tried to buy another mount for it I couldn't find this model any place else. Once I found out what another mount & power cord would cost it's not much more to but another camera. Love the GPS feature for playback.

When my car is parked and I do not wish to leave the dashcam out and visible, it can be detached and put it away without having to dismount the base from the windshield, even though I do not have the base hardwired to the vehicle (power is plugged into the base, which in turns supplies the dashcam so ideally I should just hardwire it to my fusebox). This makes it a great feature when I visit places where I am not sure the neighborhood is a safe one. Furthermore I am planning to purchase an additional base to (available at BestBuy) mount on my other vehicle, so I can effortlessly use the same dashcam unit on whichever car I am driving. Most of the time I remove the dashcam when I am parked in an uncovered lot, like at the golf course to keep it out of the sun and heat. I decided to use a retractable USB cable instead of the included one, so the base and the retracted cable can stay on the windshield and doe not impede my putting up the sunshade. The magnet which holds the dashcam to the base is strong, so the angle changes slightly when I am detaching it, and some readjustment is usually needed after I reattach the dashcam, but I get used to it over time and to be fair, the rotator does not feel loose.

This is my first dash cam and I will say that it's easy to use, self explanatory. Easy set up. I just received it and can't wait to use it. The image is very clear. The only thing is that I did wish that there was a sd card included.

Got this Nextbase - 222G dash cam from Best Buy when it was on sale, price was good, video was excellent for the price, easy to use. Love the video on our recent trip, highly recommended

The camera works well. I like the magnetic mount. The two issues I have with it are 1) it comes with a ferrite core on the cable which is not shown in the Nextbase installation video. It is supposed to be located about 6" from the camera which means it will be hard to hide and can't easily be tucked into the headliner. Thankfully it is removable and I am going to move it out of the way and 2) the buttons on the camera rattle and the sound comes through on the audio. I'm going to put some tape over them to keep them still.

This is my first dash cam. After reading the on-line manual I quickly had it mounted and working. It does everything I want. I like the feature that allows you to protect a segment of the recording from accidental erasure. I did find that having the display on was distracting. I cut a small piece of cardboard and taped it to the top the camera to act as a flap to cover the image. I can still see all the controls. Note: It does not come with the required memory micro SD card. They recommend the Nextbase branded card, which I purchased from Best Buy for $20.

Perfect and reliable dashcam with GPS. Giving 4 star because of night time recording, not happy with performance.

It’s good. I like how it has a big screen. The play back is super clear. Shows speed and date. Only thing that really worried me was that I got in my car in the morning and the camera screen wasn’t working it was as if someone hit the camera and the screen went out. Well it happened cause it over heated. I had it in cold AC for about 20 mins till it started working again. So 4 stars.

Easy and quick set up. Took me about 20 minutes and I now have the satisfaction of knowing that I have the video. You can turn GPS on or off.

Have toyed for years about getting one of these. Was amazed at how small this was. Impressive piece of equipment. It's great tucked behind the rear view mirror so is unobtrusive. Just got to get rid of those wretched wires now!

I purchased this for my daily driver to have safety piece of mind of knowing that I backup if something happens (which I hope never does). I wanted to get one that had the GPS to help with further data. Setup and installation is fairly easy and simple.

I purchased this nice Nextbase 222G dash cam when it was on sale at best buy. I decided to get a dash cam for my long road trip that I was taking. I've had the camera for a few weeks before my road trip and now I'm about 2000 miles into my road trip and the camera has been working extremely well. I like having the dash cam available in case I'm in an accident or I witness one. The only problem I've had is that when I turn my truck off the camera is supposed to go into sleep mode and then wake up and record if something bumps my vehicle. I think the port that I have the camera plugged into always has power so my camera doesn't go into sleep mode. I have to manually turn the camera off each time I park my truck.

A no frills dash camera. Does the job, but license plates can be hard to read.

Love this dash cam. Have it on everytime i drive. Cant wait to get in my next car accident
