Customer Ratings & Reviews

Very easy travel lens. I carry on my bike somewhat haphazardly and it has enough weight to not flail, but not so heavy that carrying around your neck becomes uncomfortable after long periods. Beautiful, crisp photos. Decent auto focus that has only been troubling in shots with subjects behind heavy branches. On the Z50 the 1.5 cf pushes the zoom a bit - i feel i can generally photograph anything within my view and dont have too many restrictions/constraints. Very fun to shoot with for an entire day.

This wasn’t the first lens I had tried with my new camera, but after trying this one out the other was returned immediately. Lens is very versatile and have been able to takes photos from very close or very far.

We do a lot of national park trips and sometimes we fly budget airlines to get there so space matters. It would be great to fly with the arsenal of lenses but if checking a bag is the thing that makes or breaks a trip, I’ll take my chances. This takes beautiful pictures with my Z8. I was worried about the aperture size, which ideally could be better, but for the price and convenience, I’ll gladly edit the noise in post processing. The lens also has a nifty lock that keeps it from opening in a bag. It’s also surprisingly compact and light.

I was looking forward to getting this lens, from a keen photographer who has sold a few prints :) I pre-ordered & sold my 70-180 & 2x teleconverter for this lens due to the size & weight decrease, and the extended reach & hopefull increased photo quality too. I am impressed with the near & far range that I can now get, it's also lightened my kit and made my setup a bit less tripod-dependant as it is a bit easier to now hand hold. A great all-round near & far travel zoom lense which has met my expectations. My only issue is, not related directly to the lens is that I bought what I thought would be a compatable 77mm filter which doesn' t seem to fit? The attached photo's show its zoom capabilities at 3 levels!

Great zoom lens for walk around . Capture images both near and far with great clarity. I use this for some street photography and getting closer shots. Very versatile..

very pleased with this lens!! It is a nice walk about lens.

great lens !! sitting in my 50 yard line family spot for senior year ! got all the good shots across the field. the zoom capability is perfect for my needs !

Love it! I had been waiting for a “reasonably” priced zoom lens and this is perfect. I love the range - I don’t have to switch lenses as much!

I am absolutely in love with this lense. Ver sharp and the auto focus is beyond expectations!

This takes exceptional photos near and far. I love the ease of not having to carry multiple lenses. I wish this had been available sooner!

Awesome Zooming capabilities Clear and crisp focus Manual focusing works great

Already gave it a test drive and photographed some birds outside of my house, since also shooting with a z50 my lens is a 600mm equivalent at the long end which is great since i shoot wildlife! Very happy with the lens, not super heavy and compact as well!

The Nikon NIKKOR Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR is an incredibly versatile lens that delivers excellent image quality across a huge zoom range. It's easy to use, making it perfect for travel, wildlife, and everyday photography without constantly changing lenses. The price was good considering the flexibility it offers. With plenty of shooting options, effective vibration reduction, and outstanding build quality, it's a great addition to any Nikon Z mirrorless camera kit.

The 28-400 lens is a nice hobby lens, its not super sharp and its not super fast. But it is a good lens for non professional use. I used it on my z8 and z7ii. Best in well lit places. Its a versatile lens for sure. Love the range. Id buy it again. Great for pictures you sre postig online.

One word: CRISPYYYY! This new class of lens has updated tech to allow for crispness at every aperture setting. Don’t think the depth of aperture will hold you back in low light settings, I tested this lens in a club environment with a flash head attached for external light and had major success with longer exposure light streaking shots at 4.0 aperture and 1/4 for my shutter. Highly recommend this lens and the VR works wonderfully. Shooting on a Z8 to pair with this lens.

I recently purchased the Nikon 28-400 lens and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. It is an absolutely magnificent buy, offering incredible versatility for different shooting situations, from wide landscapes to detailed close-ups. The image quality is outstanding, and considering its performance, the price-to-quality ratio is simply excellent. This lens has quickly become my go-to option, and I am truly delighted with how it elevates my photography. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable and versatile lens at a great value.

Love this lens for my Nikon Z7ii camera. Lens is lightweight and one of 3 that I travel with exclusively. The other two are prime 35 and 105. I would recommend to anyone needing full coverage with more than adequate f/4 aperture on lower end of zoom. Can you get better...yes for upwards of 3 or 4k USD. You can get this one on sale at Best Buy online for under 1.3k USD!! Take a chance if you're into landscapes or wildlife photography.

The lens is heavy but gives amazing zoom range. Picture quality stays good at the max zoom too.

My new Nikkor lens is awesome and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. I would definitely buy my next lens from Best Buy.

This new lens for the FX Full frame Z6III is a little daunting for me as I’m 76 years old. I’ve used many of these lenses from zoom to prime for Nikon cameras for over 60 years, from a 19 year old in rice patties of Vietnam Shooting 35mm film to my great granddaughter’s birthday party using this latest iteration….for me It’s a feeling of dependability. I’ve had and used many other brands, ie. Topcon, Nikon, Mamiya-Sekor, Minalta, Pentax, Cannon, et.al,….and some of them are excellent to outstanding….but Nikon lenses are legendary for combat photography…wish I’d had this lens then an I wouldn’t have had so many cameras around my neck…I can promise you when it really matters….reach for Nikon...it’s never let me down…..take the word of an old Marine photographer…..From carrying three or four cameras at a time to get the right lense….this one will do all that they could and more. You wont go wrong with Nikon.
