My 9 year old loved it, it was a great Christmas gift!

Good product for a young child, many educational and entertaining games. Easy to use. Would recommend you buy a carry case as the outer case is very flimsy.

If you have an original 3DS, it is definitely worth the upgrade. The bigger screens make it so much more enjoyable to play the games, and I can't wait until the new Zelda comes out. Download the video and see how amazing it looks on the XL. My main concern before buying was that it would be too big. I like to use the street pass feature and occasionally put it in my pocket, so I was worried that this would be feel too bulky to fit. Actually, it does feel a bit more uncomfortable in my pocket, but only minimal, and only when I sit down. The other downside is that it does not come with a charging cradle like the original did. That was a bit of a bummer when I opened the box, but I think you can buy them directly from the Nintendo website, which I'm considering

this was the perfect present for my grandson. unlike downloading games from intermet you have more. ontrol of the types of games that are being played, we tried letting him play on tablet but there was always something going wrong that required an adults assistance. the game system itself also seems more durable than a tablet.

Like it...just slippery material..Love the size of the screen and the option to turn of 3d...Eventhough its bigger...size is not to big for 8 yr old to handle

I have to admit I haven't had a handheld console since the Gameboy Advance, but decided to buy this one on a whim. I am happy with my purchase, although in retrospect I would not have bought the XL version. I'm sure the larger screen makes a big difference, but it's not that comfortable to hold. That being said, the graphics are great and the gameplay is as good as its always been. Great games available.

I purchased a 2DS after Xmas for myself. I enjoyed the system until my nephew had the 3DS XL. I realized my mistake. The 2DS screen was too small for my almost 40 yr old eyes, plus since the 2DS doesn't fold; the screens weren't protected. I don't care much for the 3D aspect of the system, but it's worth the extra $$$...

We gave this to my eight year old son for his birthday. He'd had a DS before this one for two years -- it got abused and we never had a great case for it, and it ended up starting to fall apart -- so we knew he'd love it. The 3DS was a good upgrade -- more availability of games, since the DS games are no longer in production, and the 3DS plays his old games, so our previous investment in games was not lost. It was easy to set up, and my son was happily playing it within minutes. We expect he will get a lot of use out of it (especially because we got a good protective case for this one!). I can't review it from an older person's perspective, since I don't do video games myself, but it's a good product for an elementary school-aged child.

With all the features that come on the system and the extra large screens, the 3DS is by far my favorite handheld. It's lightweight, easy to use and fun to play.

The Nintendo 3DS is a good system for a good price

I found the 3DS a great Christmas gift idea for my 8 year old son. The 3DS is pretty self explanatory and my son found it pretty easy to navigate. I appreciate the long battery life. Over the Christmas Holidays 2013 we flew to Minnesota from Hawaii, which is over nine hours of travel time. The 3DS maintained its charge and kept my son and his two siblings entertained throughout the entirety of the trip. The games are fairly inexpensive and easier to keep up with new game title releases. The option to download games is also convenient minimizing travel and fuel cost to game stores. My son primarily enjoys watching Netflix and YouTube at his own convenience and expanding more options as he learns more uses of the device.
