This standalone version is so much better than the VR connector to your phone. This is ready to go wherever you are without the risk of damaging your phone. From Netflix to Roller Coasters this is an all in one must have!!

The Oculus Go is the best and lowest cost way to discover VR. Because it only allows for 2 degrees of freedom (Up, Down, Right and left) it isn't really for playing games in VR. It is much more like watching TV except that you have been transported through the screen and are totally immersed in what you are viewing. How real is it? Well if you get queasy on a real roller coaster, then you will get that same feeling riding a roller coaster in VR with the Go. Because of what your eyes see and your ears hear, your brain fills in the sense of motion and you can almost feel the G forces. You do sense motion. I recommend that you are seated when you try the Oculus Go for the first time. I picked one of the available home screens that has you overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. You are fine until you look down and see that you are about 40 feet above the ground with nothing underneath you and your brain thinks you should be falling. In that moment your sense of balance is disrupted, your body disregards that you are physically supported in the real world and you will start to fall over if not safely seated. That's how real this is.
The Go is a very well designed and built headset with great attention to detail (Form, Fit and Function). Nothing else comes close to this remarkable experience for $200.00.
Think about being in this video, flying with the Blue Angels. photo attached. Video available on Youtube.

The Oculus Go is hands down the best product I have ever purchased. It is absolutely AMAZING for anyone of any age. I get butterflies in my stomach while on the roller coasters as if I was really on one. Everything you go to seems super realistic. I would definitely recommend everyone get the Oculus Go...

Easy set up. I watched a 360 video and was blown away. Watched Blue a velociraptor and felt like Jeff Gold Blume I was there. This has taken watching videos to the next level at a low cost entry fee.

Image is a little sharper than PSVR, so text is more readable. Fully mobile, with powerbank or connected to outlet can work whole day, otherwise battery drops in 3 hours max. Some heat from outer surface, face stays cool, more breathable than PSVR, never had lens fogging with Oculus. Get ready for VR-face, Go leaves some pressure marks on the face around eyes, while PSVR barely affects forehead only. Still limited selection of apps, even for subscription and rental services. Can rent movie on YouTube and watch in built-in browser as Virtual Fullscreen, IMAX size, only SD rentals are supported to play. Crackle also works through browser. No VUDU. Can adjust axis to watch screen at any direction for Netflix Void Mode and Browser Full Screen. By the way, browser fullscreen mode is impressive implementation of virtual huge screen, supports forcing of SBS 3D, 180 and 360, really like it. Visual controls are limited to brightness only, really would like more like sharpness, contrast, color profiles. This is Facebook device, so expect full access to Facebook services, such as regular media, 360 videos and photos. Games are mostly small mobile projects and experiences, few nice rail shooters, space fighters and Republic as decent adventure story. There's one proprietary app available to share Windows screen into VR, but too much effort. Absolutely no way to Chromecast something into virtual VR screen from smartphone or Chrome browser, but really would like that function.

I got this on a sale. I wouldn’t have paid full price and I’m glad I didn’t. It’s a good entry into VR if you don’t pay too much.
PROS:
-Self contained: you don’t need a $200+ graphics card and to be tethered to a computer.
-Integrated audio sounds decent and has a 3D feel.
-Head tracking seems to be pretty accurate
CONS:
-Resolution and picture quality isn’t great, but on par with the price point.
-32 gigs of storage goes quick with high quality 360 videos and games
- No SD card slot for upgrading storage
- Everyone can hear your audio, too. There is a headphone jack, but NO Bluetooth option. Seems like a glaring omission that’d expected.
- The wireless controller has good tracking and battery life, but there’s only one, limiting the games you can play. Also, the touch pad is a bit sensitive so I often accidentally scroll when I’m just trying to click.
- Battery life is is OK for minimal use, but won’t last too long on the road.
- OVERHEATING! This is my biggest gripe. I’ve had mine overheat regularly and often after only 20 min into a movie on the PlexVR app. I’ve done some research and it turns out tons of people have overheating issues with this thing. There’s even a number of DIY hacks to cool it down, all of which look clunky and shouldn’t be required.
I’m keeping mine, but only because I got such a great price for it and I will probably only use it sparingly once the novelty wears off. I use it to test my homemade 360 videos, too. Otherwise, I would have sent it back on day one of use.

I originally invested in a Daydream VR. Pretty good inexpensive device for VR; but the overall experience depends on how good your phone is on the VR side. My phone, while awfully great as a smartphone, just didn't cut it as the "brain" for a VR headset: stutter at times, overheated after 20 minutes, and the display shifting was a HUGE problem.
None of these things is a problem with the Oculus Go. 100% smooth playback every time (so far); it warms up, but not frighteningly so like a smartphone sandwiched in the Daydream; and, very importantly, once I sync the display it stays where it's supposed to.
The fact that you don't regularly have to open & expose one side of the headset lenses to open air (dust & particles) like you do with the Daydream means less need to wipe & clean - and less THINGS to wipe & clean (headset lenses, smartphone display - and, in my case, eyeglass lenses w/the Daydream). The Go has a spacer you can insert if you will be wearing glasses, and it works well (a little tricky to put in - but luckily there's a video you can watch).
Streams my 1080p & 1440p videos without a hitch. Overall I think this was a great investment. That being said, there are some cons that I find with this device.
- pricing for storage: they should've released only a 64GB option, and for the price that the 32GB is selling for. You don't realize how little 32GB (more like 23GB after factoring out OS & basic apps) actually is, considering you're likely to be watching high-def vids on this headset. Of course, it's not much of a factor if you'll be using this primarily for streaming - whether from media apps like Netflix, or from your personal network.
- Battery life: so far I only have utilized the headset to watch some sideloaded TV episodes, usually only 2-3 at a time. So while I haven't come close to reaching the advertised battery operating time of 2.5 hours, based on the percentage I see after watching 40-50 minutes of video I feelthat 2.5 is prob the best I can expect in one sitting. It'll be less if you're streaming; and it makes me sad to think that the first time I watch a feature film on this headset it could die/power off 5min before the movie ends. Hopefully a firmware update comes out in the future that can improve battery life.
- "Sleep" mode: it's annoying that when you plug this headset in to charge, it turns on for a bit, and then goes into a rest state. If you jostle the headset, it could wake back up, sipping juice and extending the charge time. In order to fully turn the headset off, you have to put it on AFTER plugging in the charger, hold the power button, then use the remote to accept a full power down. Once you unplug the headset, it auto-powers on: so you have to go through steps again if you're not using the headset right away. It's a bit tedious.
- Confirm access for sideloading: probably my biggest "con." Although I could stream videos from my personal network, I prefer to sideload videos into the headset storage. And b/c of the 20-23GB of free space, that can lead to frequent delete + add events. It's not QUITE as quick & simple as plugging a micro-USB cable between the headset and your computer: once you patch the headset in, you have to put the headset on, sync the remote, and then ACCEPT the connection to PC. Every... single... time.... Firmware update allowing you to either have the headset recognize/save the PC identity, or to disable the requirement to accept each time, would be fab.
- No Bluetooth audio: this one could be big for some people. The headset does have pretty tremendous external speakers with great quality. But my preference is to use headphones so I can blast the audio without disturbing anyone. The headset has a 3.5mm jack; but for those who have gone totally wireless with headphones, this will pose a challenge.
- No "HBO Go" app: really a childish gripe on my part. As mentioned, there's Netflix; Hulu and Showtime apps are also available. The HBO Go app would be great to have for "GoT."
Aside from those: once you have your media ready and pop this headset on, it's a fantastic VR experience and you can get some great enjoyment out of them for media viewing.

This is my first experience with VR. I was attracted to $200 price point and the "tetherless" wifi since I really don't game. I was just interested in the new experience. And it does provide a fresh way to look at things. Of course, it comes with a lot of "free" (some of which you can pay to go past the first level!) apps but the basic VR/3D apps do offer you a lot of ways to experience the world, some interesting, some silly
If you're new to VR, I would suggest a minimum of 1080 videos with 2k and 4k optimum. 720 always seems blurry for me. Oh, and the Go does have a spacer to allow wearing your prescription lenses or you can order your prescription that fit right into the
Go. The 32 MB & 64 MB internal memory may limit you. However, if you connect to your wifi router and use your desktop PC as the media storage, you'll be virtually limitless with an app like Plex VR or Skybox which can link to your main computer.
The Oculus Go has about a 2 hour battery limit. The controller, a "AA" which has lasted me about a month. It is recommended by Oculus that power tethering IS NOT recommended (their provided USB to micro USB cable charging--just like your smartphone!--but I've never had a problem with heat tethered. I don't like running out of battery during long sessions.
Watching a 2D movie in their software is comparable to watching a movie on your 100" screen. In other words, this device can "take the place of" being in the front row theater seat at your local cinema. Surround sound, not so much. The little speakers in the head band are adequate for sound but they are what they are. You can connect a set of headphones, earbuds or even a wireless transmitter to the 1/8" stereo connector for better sound (or to privately listen to your media).
I have heard the resolution is better on the Go than its bigger brother the Rift, but I don't own one so can't confirm. But the GO is more limited scope than the Rift as far as 3D. You won't be able to move through 3D worlds with the same overall depth as the Rift Series with its spatial control and movement features. In fact, Oculus is just about now releasing an intermediary Quest that can achieve that spacial gaming function for about $200 more than the Go. But if you're no the gamer . . .
But if you're interested in trying out the 3D experience, the Go is a fine introductory device. There are lesser headsets out there that are far cheaper but I never like to start out a rock bottom. Go for it!

This is the same as 64gb but less Gig
At first I was not expected this much, I was just thinking ahh its just like your looking through a smartphone VR... nothing much!
Glimpse it made me had to get it, open box and played around alittle bit at the time, Graphics was very amazing for some fewer games yes...Controller works really good had not a problem of dying breaking even when drop accident" battery still live for 2 weeks of use. For the strap around your head it feel really comfortable its strap perfectly on me without a pain" for the memory foam it feel much better then those cheap vr headset that $10 to $30.
I would use this for around the trip or vacation if so.
Down side is its only 3dof not (6)
but thats cause this for enteraintaining not to replace the VR RIFT.
PRO"S Graphics is amazing but not as better then RIFT.
2 hour battery life is concenstant
only take 2 hour and 17 minutes to fully charge.
Better memory foam
The Lens are really good clear but not super sharp but at least better then VR Smartphone.
Lightweight and easy to pack up take it on the go
CONS"
Cannot play 6dof
Short battery life average of 2 hour depending on brightness.
Volume can't be distorted at max
Lens are not super sharp
Some game can quite get boring lack of graphics.
No lens adjustment to focus sharp detail.
I still recommend this to anyone but not to replace VR RIFT but its a take to go.

Incredible VR headset; made me a believer

I'll admit: Previously, I wasn't a big fan of VR. The concept sounds interesting, and yes - movies such as "Ready Player One" have been trying to take VR mainstream for quite some time. But to me, it was always too complex to setup the hardware, and the VR experiences themselves weren't compelling.
Oculus Go has made a believer out of me.
When I first read that the Oculus Go had better quality optics than most (all?) of the more-expensive devices out there, and yet was significantly *cheaper* - as well as not needing to be tethered to a PC, and not requiring a separate phone to be used for the display - I was very skeptical. But the hype is real: Fully-standalone and mobile, and a great way to get into many compelling VR experiences, with little if any tradeoffs or risks.
This truly is an incredible VR headset - again, it may not be as powerful as the PC-tethered versions (such as Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, etc.), but is more than capable of providing a great experience on its own. And, since it is completely standalone, it can be used anywhere - I've already traveled with it, to demonstrate for family and friends. Battery life is good (not great), and the selection of experiences available for download on the Oculus platform is excellent.
I know I'll be looking forward to ongoing development in VR, and more capabilities in the headsets which come out in the future. But, I'm thrilled that I jumped into VR with the Oculus Go, and plan on using it for a long time.
If you haven't yet tried an Oculus headset, just do it: You'll see what all the interest is about, and also look forward to future enhancements in this great new medium.

The Oculus Go is very much worth the retail price. The Headset boasts a high definition screen, minimal Screen door effect and access to an incredible array of aps and videos. It is still early in the progression of VR, but this Headset hits all of the right notes. Initial set up is done with a smart phone but, after that a WIFI connection is all that is needed to download aps and experience the immersive world of VR. A personal side note: do not put on the headset while standing or a least, do not look down. You may find yourself 30 feet above the ground with no visible means of support. The only drawback I found is that after the first hour or so of wearing it, it sits a little heavy on my face. Most likely because I tightened up on the straps to seal out ambient light from getting through the nose bridge. I backed off on the straps a little and long term sessions became more comfortable. I simply love this headset. It has a web browser so you can watch Youtube videos in VR. Yesterday I flew in formation with the Blue Angels via Youtube. Wing tips two feet above my head. Definitely an E-ticket ride all for free. Tomorrow I'll be inside the space station looking down on planet earth.

After putting the battery in the remote, it's ready to go right out of the box. I bought the 32 GB version and memory hasn't been a problem for me. The build-in sound works well but usually requires both hands to adjust while wearing. And anyone next to you can probably hear it also. Battery is probably its biggest disappointment. Lasting less than 2 hours. To correct this I use a portable battery that I keep plugged in when I need some extra battery. Overall the headset works well and is very easy to use.

The Oculus Go is a easy intro into VR. The fact that one does not need to tie up a phone or gaming console is a plus. The integrated headphone/speaker is adequate and the experience is pretty cool. Add an external headphone and simple task chair and it gets even better.
This product is not for those who want to be mobile in a game. There is no physical movement or physical type feedback except for the feeling of nauseousness from poor camera movement.
As far as content goes ...well it could definitely use more VR material such as movies; where you feel as if you are part of the scene. IMHO The best movie content so far as been from the Samsung VR site which is compatible with the Oculus Go. I also find the length of the movies, games, videos etc to be rather short.
The cost of the Go is not astronomical so I am excited to see what else is coming down the line. One of my favorite features was the ability to customize an apartment (Oculus Room) and then invite your VR friends over to play board games and watch a movie. Now if we could just bring the snacks :-)

Let me start off by saying this thing is pretty awe inspiring and fun to use. I've used the Google cardboard (or whatever they're called) and other headsets with the phone strapped into them and was meh. So when I saw this stand alone unit for a really good price, I thought I'd give it a shot.
It is truly immersive and you have no light leak or blind spots like in other sets I've tried. The system seems to process fast enough to keep you immersed and the free content available will give you plenty to look at for weeks.
So why the 3 stars? There are some real shortfalls with it and they are worth noting.
1) I'm guessing based on price, but the clarity of the image leaves a lot of room for improvement. It's clear, but not very detailed or vibrant.
2) The battery life is abysmal. At a max of 2 hours, you can't even watch a full length movie without a separate battery pack or having it plugged in.
3) The sound plays out of speakers on the headset which gives a nice 3D effect to it. However, they're not enclosed speakers so anyone and everyone around you has to listen to what you're listening to and, worse in my opinion, you can hear everything going on around you.
4) Being a Facebook product, it really likes to integrate with FB. It pulls up your feed and recommends friends, etc which I just don't like. I've never had anything cross over between the devices, but with their history I would not be that surprised to see my FB page start advertising movies similar to what I watch on the Oculus.
For $200 it's still a great deal and it's fun, but the drawbacks keep it from being as good as it should be.

Personal experience with the HTC Vive all the way down to Google Daydream and Samsung Gear VR (2nd edition) had me interested in the Oculus Go as a solid middle-ground. It's basically got the guts of a recent flagship smartphone with a great LCD, internal storage, decent speakers right at ear-level, and wifi/BT so you can go cable-free. Sure you can't push pixels like a dedicated gaming headset, but for watching Netflix, Plex, or even using the Bigscreen VR app to stream your desktop, this thing is awesome. For more comfort you can even watch Netflix (and other supported apps) lying down. It's much better than staring at your small phone screen for hours. As they continue to add content and apps, this thing will get better and better. The battery is smallish - so expect 2.5 hours max when watching videos. They recommend not using it plugged in (probably for safety reasons - yanking the cord or headset or knocking things over), but I think in a prone position while binge-watching might be OK.
Personally, I'm not into VR games so I didn't check those out, but there are a lot of good, free experiences, 360 videos, and some games on the Oculus store which makes this a great value overall.
Note - mine had a strong, chemical or plastic odor - I will let it air out and hopefully it goes away!

Great portable VR unit. A great start for Oculus and VR family of products. Battery is a bit limited and unit heats up quickly but other than that the reasonably priced unit brings a remarkable experience and out performs the cell phone counterparts.
