I was not able to enjoy this. I bought a new one and the picture was all distorted and not sharp and clear. I also confirmed the same with Best buy tech guys and they also saw the problem. Took a replacement but then finally returned it. All in all I dint have a good experience.

I bought this with high hopes after reading and watching several reviews that made it seem like this would work with my glasses. Unfortunately after trying with three different pairs of glasses I was forced to return the product, very disappointed.

Got this as a self Santa gift and was looking forward to enjoying all that it was made out to be. However, upon opening on Christmas day and attempting to use it, unit would not even charge. After Googling information, I am seeing a lot of similar post regarding the same issue. So too bad for a product that seemed to have a lot of potential; maybe if they stop having it built in China a better and actual working product might be the end result. So as it stands now, DO NOT BUY THIS OR THE OTHER VERSIONS OF THIS PRODUCT!

Oculus Go vs Samsung Gear VR

    Posted .

My first venture into VR was using a Samsung Gear VR headset with my Galaxy S7. It worked pretty well and provides a good VR experience. I enjoyed it, but often when doing a long session the screen would go black and a message would pop up saying that the phone needed to cool down. The S7 does get very hot when using it for VR. I became concerned that it was going to decrease the life of my phone so I quit doing VR much. This may not be a problem with newer, more powerful Samsung phones. When the Oculus Go became available I decided to try it out. Overall I like the Go much better. It is easier to use and does not overheat, but it is not better in every way. See the Pro list for each listed below. The box includes the headset, hand control with lanyard and battery, USB charger and cable The Go headset has two buttons and two connectors. It has a power button and volume control rocker on the top surface. There is micro USB port and a headphone jack on the left side. It has pretty good built in sound but you can optionally use headphones or earbuds for better quality. To setup the Go you must install the Ocolus app on your phone and pair the headset via Bluetooth, but you don't need the phone to use the Go after that. Once connected to your WiFi, you can stream and download VR apps and 360 videos from the headset. Once the setup process is completed it is quick and easy to start a VR session. Just put it on and press and hold the power button a few seconds. You then use the hand controller to make selections in VR. You can transfer VR files from a Windows computer using the included USB cable. You need to turn the headset on first, then plug in the USB, put the headset up to your face and use the hand control to select Allow. Once connected it will appear in Explorer as a drive. The Go does not have a SD card slot to add more memory, so you are stuck with 32 or 64 GB depending on which model you buy. I was hoping I could plug a USB flash drive into the micro USB port and access files from it (like I can on my S7), but this does not work. The headset does not seem to recognize flash drives. Oculus Go Pros: - Quick and easy startup, never need to remove phone case, clean screen, plug in phone - Does not overheat like S7 - Longer VR session time before battery runs out - Pixels are less obvious than Gear VR, more real looking - Headset is lighter and more comfortable - Strap behind head is better and does not have velcro bump which you can feel when leaning back - Good quality built in stereo surround sound (may want to use earbuds or headphones for music). - Can order prescription lens inserts (I have not done this) - Includes hand control in price (extra cost option on Gear VR) - No phone notifications popping up in VR Samsung GearVR with S7 Pros: - Less expensive entry into VR if you already have a supported phone - Better black levels with OLED display screen - Can use without hand control, all required controls on headset - Optional hand control includes volume button (Go's included hand control does not) - Can add SD card memory to phone to hold huge VR files

Tried the PC version at a Best Buy store. Really liked some of the games they let us try. Took the GO version because I have several Apple computers and didn’t want to buy a PC. Couldn’t really get the games we wanted. We bought a game on their site through the Oculus Go. Apparently that game only works on the PC version. We contacted Oculus which apparently the only way is through email. We received an automatic reply letting us know someone would get back to us. More than 3 weeks have gone by and no response. Bad Custoners service on Oculus’ side.

I bought it and took it home. It kept turning off on me as soon as I tried to set it up. So I returned it and swapped it out for another one, it did the exact same thing. Needless to say I was not able to use it.
