My favorite VR
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Oculus go is by far my favorite VR. It is easy to set up and very user-friendly functions. It felt little heavy after an hour of usage, so make sure take a break in between. Some of the apps were a little bit blurry and slow to load. If this is your first VR, I would totally recommend Oculus Go.

Great entry level VR Headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Oculus Go a week ago and I have been enjoying every minute of it. It was very easy to set-up through the step by step process. The user interface is pretty awesome. The iPhone app works very well to add your downloads to the Oculus Go. The Oculus Go is stand alone so iphone is necessary once set-up is complete. The VR content is amazing on the Oculus Go. There is so much VR content available on the web through the Oculus browser, YouTube, Plex, Facebook videos, etc... Pros: Fits great. Stand alone, no PC needed. Video content is amazing. Great price. Great for entry level into the VR world. Cons: Battery life is about 2~2.5 hours. Probably good to give yourself a break. Overall the Oculus Go is amazing. Everyone should have one. Enjoy.

The first good VR headset!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been following VR for a long time. The breakthrough came in 2013 with the Oculus Dev Kit 1. That showed that VR was possible, but it was far from consumer ready. Every other headset before this suffered from complicated setup, annoying maintenance, poor quality, and other issues. It just wasn't worth it to come back once you tried it. But this it! It's easy to use, good quality, and inexpensive!

Pretty ok
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first app I tried was the Plex app and this was a huge mistake. I almost brought the Oculus Go back to Best Buy. Then I tried the Netflix app and realized that this headset is pretty good. I think I am going to enjoy the Oculus Go. The price point is right and there are plenty of things to explore. Overall I’m happy with it. Not certain how much I will actually use it, only time will tell. Definitely makes me excited for the future and next generation headsets when it truly looks like reality.

First decent consumer VR headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is awesome. So much easier to use than the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. I know, not 6DOF. But for a lot of VR apps, this is solid.

Lies
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They said it doesn't require a smartphone, but it does. Also, you can't set it up using hotel and most other public WiFi that requires one to sign in or accept terms via web browser. After the initial setup, it's not a problem. The content available is lacking to say the least, the quality also suffers. The screen door effect is still very much a thing. There's also severe ghosting and blurryness. No way to change screen sizes for things like Netflix. This is essentially a barebones system with few options and features. This is targeting a much older and less tech savvy audience. You're much better off going with a non Oculus brand and using it with a beefy PC if you want a good VR experience. I used the rift with my PC and it was overall a much better experience, even that was lacking in many ways. This is even worse.

A week with Oculus Go (A/V aficionado perspective)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For audio/video aficionados and movie buffs alike, the idea of being able to sit in your very own home theater room with a massive screen is quite an intriguing proposition; and that's exactly what VR and Oculus is theoretically capable of offering, and why I ultimately bought the Oculus Go...strictly to consume Netflix and YouTube content. Unfortunately there are a few caveats, some of which I werr willing to make, and one big one not so. The first is the "screen door" effect, or inherent lower resolution that comes from magnifying the screen. People say the resolution watching movies/videos is akin to sitting closely to a 720p TV, however I would say that in reality it's closer to maybe 640p or even 480p depending on the content, when you boil it down to the true effective area of what's actually being displayed clearly. The resolution was tolerable for me, as I knew VR inherently had lower DPI, and your eyes surprisingly become adjusted during movies rather quickly. It was only watching technical videos on YouTube did I really find myself crying for a higher resolution. The second big issue talked about is the battery life, never exceeding 3 hours on a single charge. One recommendation is to turn the brightness down, which may work, but you will naturally lose picture quality since saturation of LCD panels is so dependant upon brightness. In practical usage the decreased battery life is not as big an issue as one thinks, since even trying to watch a 90 minute movie continuously on the Oculus is very hard to do from a kinesiological point of view; I routinely found my eyes feeling strained after just 20 minutes and could truly never get the goggles comfortable on my face, always feeling like they were digging into my nose (and I have a small nose) or pressing on my cheeks too tightly. The built-in audio works surprisingly well for consumption of basic voice-based media (i.e. news), but are inept for cinematic viewing or music (a basic tonal sweep seems to indicate 200hz is about their cutoff and anything lower in inaudible). Yes despite these flaws, I would be more than happy to live with the Oculus. The gaming of Oculus? Not of interest to me. The 360 environments? Not of interest. It was truly the 'big screen' feel, having that hypothetical 120" TV in my personal theater that was the real appeal. Unfortunately the bane of my virtual paradise room was the lenses themselves: The perimeter and edges of the lenses were incredibly blurry, and nothing I could do ever fixed it. Looking straight forward everything appears in focus, but if you keep your head still and turn your eyes, the edges are out of focus. This is incredibly annoying and a huge deal breaker, because you basically have to turn your head to see each side of the movie screen if you size the video to fill the entire "periscope". At a movie theater your head stays still and your eyes will drift across the screen, but with the Oculus you have to turn your head constantly because the edges are just blurry. Even in basic menus I was unable to glance across with my eyes, and had to turn my head. I'm not sure if this is because of IPD issues and lack of IPD adjustment in the Oculus Go, or just a trade-off engineers had to make to get a larger area and less "periscope effect". I'm nearsighted and wear contacts (greater than 20/20 with contacts), and neither with or without contacts had any effect to the out of focus edges. The other failure of the lenses were the reflections. The internal screen's light would sometimes reflect off the lenses themselves and give a bad halo and glare effect. Lastly, the lenses would sometimes fog up, particularly if you just got out of the shower and had damp skin, or if your skin and the Oculus were different temperatures. Even breathing through my nose sometimes made the lenses fog up. I had a second person try the Oculus and even they experienced the same aforementioned problems with the lenses. All-in-all, VR seems great, but I don't think the technology is there yet. Of course your experience may differ, so I'd say try before you buy. Maybe my unit was defect? Maybe not. Unfortunately for me, after visiting two Best Buy's, two Target's, and three Walmart's, not a single retailer had a demo available, so I guess I'll never know.

I do not recommend.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it at Best Buy, because the product seller confirmed with her team that it would be possible to visualize 360-degree street tours made by Google's Street View car. Or any tour of the Google platform. However, there is no application that enables this. It is not possible to enter site with 360 ° photos to view through this glasses. You must restart several times before you can use it. Answer I received from Oculus: "There are no other options available on the Oculus Go where you can navigate Street View in VR, so I have no applications that I can suggest. Regards, ****** Oculus Support"

Not as good as Gear VR
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this VR Headset thinking it would be better than the Gear VR. I was pretty disappointed, if anything I think Gear is better. First thing you'll notice is how quickly the lense fogs up, almost instantly, this makes everything you see blurry and constantly taking it off and wiping is aggravating. The graphics were on par with mobile phones and I tested the Gear VR with the same VR video, Gear was better. If you're thinking about getting one, I urge you to test it on demo days first. You'll quickly see that it's not worth the $200.

Defective Product No Refund
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Anyone who might be considering buying an Oculus go I just want to forewarn you that if you buy this product there is a potential for when you go to factory reset for when it's time to sell it, it might freeze up and if you wanted to save a little money buying it used on eBay they will not reimburse you for their defective product because "they do not support reselling of their product" Super unfortunate because this money was going torward Christmas gifts for the kids.
