Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the immersive VR experience and the comfortable design of the Rift Headset, frequently praising its lightweight feel and intuitive touch controllers. However, some users point to the lower resolution and resulting screen door effect as drawbacks, while others mention occasional motion sickness and compatibility issues with certain games or hardware. The available content library is also a point of contention for some customers. Despite these shortcomings, many appreciate the headset's overall performance and value for the price.

I have waited since before launch for this device. I'm betting this summer sale is to clear out inventory so they can launch a new wireless version this fall. If you are ok with the 'older' version, this is a cool toy. I have 2 1080 graphics cards, it is flawless. It 'should' work with a 970 or better. If you have the power, and $399.99 is in your budget you should get this. The motion controllers are a must though, I don't even like playing things that don't use them.

Have been holding out for a sale on the Vive, but at current price drops I could not pass. It is worth every cent.

I went from alpha testing the Oculus when it was called the DK1 (Developer Kit 1) to the PSVR (decent, but, unfortunately, you really DO get what you pay for), to the Oculus Rift. I generally game on a 1440p Gsync IPS monitor which is roughly 2.5ft away from my face. So that's as close to immersion as it gets without a VR headset for me. The problem with the Rift are the following: CONS: -The resolution isn't exactly the best (screen door effect) -Motion sickness is real. -LACK OF CONTENT. Sure, there are over VR titles in the Steam Library, but a majority of them are either Early Access or glorified tech demos. -Motion controls give you that wow factor for a few days until you realize that most of the games involve holding a gun or picking things up Cut to the Chase: VR just isn't there yet. I'm running this thing on a GTX 1080 and an i7 4790K (oc'd to 4.6Ghz) and the graphics are what you would expect to see from 'medium' settings at best. And oh that "screen door effect". You almost have to lie to yourself that it isn't there. Lastly: The reason the PSVR is outselling the Vive and Rift is because of a) Its price point and b) Sony KNOWS that the PSVR will work as expected out of the box if you have a PS4. Catering to the PC gamer is a very difficult task. It's why AAA game developers hire a 3rd party to create PC ports of games that were originally designed for consoles. Even with the price drop ($598 from $799 for the bundle), you can't help but think that the tussle between Zenimax and Facebook will ever end. But if you were a game developer and saw this drama with Facebook, why would you want to gamble and spend resources in developing a game for the Oculus Rift.

This is unlike any VR system I've ever used. It's graphics capability and realism are better than any other system on the market. Tried the demo in store, my wife and I were sold immediately. It was easy to setup, and the install process and usability right from the start was amazing. Had a few hiccups in the beginning but with customer support they were fixed right away. You definitely want to get this product with the touch controllers in order to get the full experience.

What a bundle this was! Got the headset and touch controllers at the special 399 price which is the best deal you can get on any VR headset. The headset when paired with a driving wheel for racing simulators is beyond awesome. I had the PC needed and it has run great with all games I have tried so far. With the Touch controllers this makes you feel a part of the game like nothing else. Absolutely a great buy and would suggest it for anyone with the extra cash!

I go to different worlds every time I use this. I never thought I'd wear gear to play video games. I was also always against 3D tvs and their glasses and I still may be but this oculus vr has changed my mind about viewing things in 3D. It's awesome. Now that I have tried it I would buy just the headset alone for full price because I cannot play racing simulators without it anymore and I will never even use my triple screens again. This VR took my conscience

This product isn't for just any computer, you have to make sure that your computer can handle running VR software before shelling out the money to buy this. If you can, you will love this and spends hours every day playing it. There are plenty of games, free and paid available for the Rift all of them are very immersive. It is pretty straight forward to set up, just make sure you mount your sensors as high up as you can and you have a big enough space to play in

I own the Playstation VR and that was ok, however I found that I didn't have my sea legs for that, so, I was a bit hesitant about the OR. At the price though, I was willing to give it a shot as I also run a rig with a 1080Ti, so, I hoped that a more powerful system may help alleviate the nausea I had felt after ( not during ) the use of the PS VR. I was pleasantly surprised. Absolutely beautiful and I've only just touched the surface as my time is limited.

This is the hardest thing to explain to people. VR is something that you literally have to try to understand. It really is like "your there". It's not just games; 3d movies are so "3d" that you expect stuff to land on your nose. I really didn't understand myself until I gave it a try at my local Best Buy. In fact, the ability to experience a demonstration, plus the option to finance with my store card, is the thing that sold me. Give it a try and find out yourself.
