Customers are saying
Customers enjoy the immersive VR experience and the comfortable design of the Rift Headset, frequently praising its lightweight feel and intuitive touch controllers. However, some users point to the lower resolution and resulting screen door effect as drawbacks, while others mention occasional motion sickness and compatibility issues with certain games or hardware. The available content library is also a point of contention for some customers. Despite these shortcomings, many appreciate the headset's overall performance and value for the price.

Incredible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an i5 3570 and 2gb GTX 960 FTW. I haven't had any trouble playing War Thunder, Robo Recall, or anything else. I'm sure I'll run into some games that'll require an upgrade soon but it's definitely playable on the 960. I also bought and returned the PSVR. It was a lot of fun but the Oculus is on another level. With the $200 price drop on the package it's well worth it. The 3rd sensor is now $59 but I don't feel it's necessary. I play room scale with 2 just fine.

Good but not great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At first I fell in love with the Oculus. I purchased Eve Valkery (this game is amazing) and chronos. I also picked up many titles via Steam. My issue with the headset itself is depending on where you shift the lense it has a cloudy/foggy spot on each side. You can't see it all the time, but it can be noticeable. Also it does not work all the time with steam VR. All that aside I did enjoy my time with the rift. the new firmware update just makes it harder to use with steam. I returned the headset and purchased a Vive instead. I really want room scale VR.

Great Initial Consumer VR Device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If your expectations are in line, the Rift will meet and exceed them. Don't expect to be magically teleported into another world that is visually indistinguishable from reality - the technology for those optics aren't quite upon us yet. However, the Rift does a good job putting the player in the middle of the action. Set up is simple and even the most basic of gameplay has an added deminsion of life when experiencing it in 3D/VR. For those looking to stand up and move around, using your hands to interact with your virtual surroundings, Rift's tracking controllers aren't on the market yet, so you're confined to a sitting experience so far, but a great experience it is. If you're looking for a new way to experience gaming, Rift is a great way to do it.

Works good, but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works good for the price point. Imaging is okay, most content needs to be bought, but it is a good starting point for VR enthusiasts as the Vive tends to break down often.

The Future Is Now
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product is just fantastic. I've seen video's online about this HMD, but I had no idea that oculus rift was THIS good. I don't get motion sickness from anything and that includes the rift. So, its comfortable because you don't get sick and it is also comfortable to wear. From the first time one puts this thing on their face they are immersed in another world (pure imagination) -- describing virtual reality doesn't help. The software works fantastically and it has some pretty rad games. Don't miss out on this one, you'll be sorry if you do.

VR is the new world
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Are you kidding me? You are reading a review about Oculus Rift?! What about this product has you second guessing it?! Just click add to cart and go! This thing out performs Sony Playstation VR, HTC, Google, Samsung! It's a joke that you are actually reading this review. The only thing you can learn from my review is that I am kicking myself for not buying this sooner. Oculus Rift is the future!

Amazing immersion for gaming and beyond
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had this for a few days but it is definitely a game changer. The level of immersion is simply unbelievable until you try it. I know there is some bad mouthing of the company for seemingly bad business practices and exclusivity deals that will rub some people the wrong way, but the product speaks for itself. I'm really looking forward to the Oculus Touch controls that they plan on releasing later in the year to complete the sense of being fully immersed in virtual reality.

Best Gaming Experience Ever!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Headset came with Lucky's tale game. Similar to a 3d Super Mario Brothers. Game is ok and a good intro into the Oculus. Spent the money on Eve: Valkyrie game and WOW! What an immersive experience! Now I'm still getting used to it but I can only manage about 30 minutes of game time before i have to take a break. Can't wait for more titles to be released and hope to see an option to play on an upcoming version of XBOX.

Good product but will be better when touch is out
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a fan of VR ever since the mid 90s. Finally there are real consumer brand VR devices out. I have tried lots of Google Cardboard devices, Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift, and the HTC Vive. My favorite is the HTC Vive because of being able to move around while playing games. The Oculus Rift is a very good headset but just feels like it's lacking the motion controls which should be released this fall.

The future VR is now!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is fantastic! The effect and feeling are better than any theme park 3d shows. I can't wait to have some roller-coaster games for my game library.

Virtual Reality is finally here
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Didn't expect to feel like I was actuloy there. I know its "VR" but ai thin my braij just didn't think that was possible. Just wish you could use your hands and walk around a room with guidance like I see on those HTC Vive videos. Amazing for now and 10/10

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GOOD STUFF Great-looking industrial design A few really good seated VR games Promising future game catalog with Touch controllers BAD STUFF Expensive, especially with gaming PC cost figured in Not much to do outside gaming Lack of motion controls at launch is a big weakness

Just not there yet. Give it a few more years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the record, I alpha tested the Oculus when it was still a kickstarter project. When Facebook bought the project, it went from an open source developer kit to a closed source developer kit (which is unfortunate). Here's the thing to take note about this latest iteration of the Oculus Rift -When I tested it, it was at 45Hz. It's 90Hz now -The visuals have improved, BUT, the "screen door effect" is still there -Content - other than Sunshine Arizona, most of the games I've played so far remind me of the Wii library. Very cartoony and gimmicky -There's much to be said about the $200 price drop on the bundle - just know that Facebook lost half a BILLION dollars in lawsuits due to this project (Zenimax). -Sales for the Rift are horrible. Best Buy actually started taking down their demo spaces for the Rift in their stores (bad sign). Nobody was touching the Rift, it was the PS4 VR that got all the attention. This is what happens when you are the late entrant in the market in VR, OR, when you enter the market with such a high price point ($600 for the headset only?). The Vive is definitely the superior VR headset. -The "wow factor" fades after you realize that the games are more gimmicky than actual games worth investing time in. Overall, the immersion for a cartoony gimmicky environment reminds me way too much of the games that were featured on the Nintendo Wii and the Xbox Kinect. Until better games are out there and the "screen door effect" has been completely removed, I won't be buying another VR headset. Plus, Zenimax not only won half a billion dollars from Facebook due to the Oculus Rift, they're trying to halt all sales of it too. This spells doom for the Oculus Rift if this succeeds which only makes such a huge price drop on this unit make sense (a sell everything before it's too late gesture). It's a nice unit, but like the first iterations of 4K televisions, I'd wait. There's a lot of potentital, and by the looks of it, the future of Oculus Rift is dependent on what happens in the courtroom with Facebook and Zenimax. Till then, I'll save up my money for the next iteration of the HTC Vive.

Amazing, Changes Everything
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At conventions and stuff I've tried on VR headsets in the past and now I own one and can use it whenever I want but still the experience blows me away every time. This is a taste of the future and a gaming experience like none that have come before it. Fantastic gaming device.

It's okay
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm giving it 3 stars because the tech itself is pretty impressive but I haven't really experienced the wow factor that other people have described. I used it for about a week before getting bored and I haven't touched it since. It was fun for a while but it's not for everyone. Some of my friends liked it but others ended up with nausea or headaches. An important thing to keep in mind is that this thing needs a beefy computer to actually work and that's a whole other major expense if you don't already own a high end computer. Long story short: I have all sorts of buyers remorse and I don't really think it's worth the money. That being said it is a cool piece of tech but I suggest trying out the demo in store if you can.

Great new tech, that'll only get better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is some really cool first gen technology. It felt so weird not having the ability to actually interact with the environment... those soon to be released controllers are absolutely a necessity..I guess they wanted to be first to market, so they released without (maybe a mistake, maybe not). Don't expect the amazing graphics your min spec graphic card puts onto your monitor... in VR it looks super weak. but i mean, put your face 1 inch away from any current monitor, and it's not gonna look so hot. I can't wait till they get some 4k displays on these headsets and the they can compress to the point that they don't have to sacrifice quality to process fps and refresh. Overall, this is such a great first gen product, especially with the beautiful packaging and amazing hardware design.

pricey but awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tried both the oculus and the vive. I gotta say if you wanna be an early adopter and have the spare cash then its definitely worth it. the oculus right now has better lengthy story driven games. the vive is more for arcadey touch experiences, which gives games a different kind of depth. its whatever experience your looking for.
