I am a professional photographer and I use Olympus Cameras for my portrait photography business. This is my 4th Olympus Camera. Don’t believe the hype that you need a FULL FRAME sensor to get professional results. A Micro Four third Camera like this camera in conjunction with a decent prime lens will amaze you. This camera offers the most bang for your buck. 1) it’s compact 2) outstanding image quality 3) Incredible image stabilization ( A Huge Plus) 4) its a mirror-less camera meaning what you see in the electronic viewfinder is what you get. Saves you a lot of time constantly reviewing your pictures after you take them. And finally 5) PRICE.. save your money and buy incredible Olympus and Panasonic Lenses.. NEED A SECOND OPINION.. YOUTUBE has PLENTY of reviews of this camera. GET OUT OF THE HOUSE AND GO TAKE SOME PICTURES. ENJOY!!

This is my second micro 4/3 camera. EPL-1 was my first interchangeable lens camera, but decided to try something that could handle low light better. Currently, I own a Nikon D750 and it practically sees in the dark. I decided to return to Olympus for portability. Although I'm enjoying this camera, the low light capability is not there yet. The photos below are straight out of the camera with no flash.

The Olympus OM-D EM-5 Mark II is small, light, weather-proof, tough, fast and takes a great picture. Other highlights include the ability to shoot smooth cinematic quality video by hand – stabilization is amazing, super quite shutter, large electronic viewfinder, Super-Fast AF with touch shutter and plenty of options and level of control. Simply, the Olympus OM-D EM-5 Mark II is a highly capable camera that can produce stunning shots.

I did some extensive reading on DP Review and other sites, comparing many cameras. I settled quickly on the micro-four-thirds format mostly because of the small size and the huge variety of lenses that are available. I Narrowed it down to the Olympus OMD-EM5-II, the Panasonic G7, and the new Panasonic GX8. I then decided on the G7, based on features vs price; the price with a kit lens was quite a bit lower than either of the others... As bad luck would have it, I had made a check on prices in the evening, and later on the same night I went online to make the purchase ---to find the price on the G7 was suddenly up by $200!!. Went to several other online retailers and found the same thing (price fixing, ya think???) But c'mon, just in that last coupla hours? ....So, disgusted, I went with the second choice which was the Olympus. (The GX8 was just too expensive to start with, being still new). I have had this camera for about a month now, and I have mostly been satisfied. It is very well built, better quality than the Panny G7 and every bit the equal of the GX8, and lots of metal! This is one camera that will remind you of "the way they used to make 'em", without all that plastic! It is also more weather resistant, and of course it has the 5-axis image stabilizer. This feature has been touted by DP Review and others, and my experience so far is that it lives up to the hype ---I have been able to get clear shots handheld in dim light, at 1/4 sec exposure time. Not too shabby! This camera has a HUGE array of functions, and it certainly has taken me some time to learn how to access them---and get a feel for which ones I will really want and which are not important. There is a learning curve to this camera, but despite what other reviewers have said about the menus being extremely difficult to wade through, I am finding it IS manageable. The user-assignable "function" buttons, and the 2 dials, are a huge help here. You need to figure out what you will use most and assign them appropriately for convenience. My major reason for buying this camera was to be able to take the sort of photos that a point-n-shoot won't do; in particular, very wide angle (from 24mm (FF equivalent) up to and including fisheye), and, to use it with a telescope which I already own, with adapters. In addition there are a very wide variety of lenses available in this format with new ones coming out several times each year from several MFR's. This format is well supported. Presently I have the OLY 14-150mm, the 9-18mm, and an aftermarket (Rokinon) fisheye lens, and all of them are producing good results. I will probably be adding a wide angle prime, such as the 17mm, and a macro later on. Since I am not a really experienced photographer I can not comment in detail about the picture quality, except that it certainly is a step above the Sony HX9V point-n-shoot that I had before this one! In particular I like the way the jpegs the camera produces without any further processing; This is subjective, but to my eyes they just look better when viewed on my 24" monitor. I have only *just* had my introduction to Lightroom and Photoshop, so perhaps I will comment later on about how well the RAW file processing works out. On the down side, there are a few small issues that I did not like; first, there is no way to charge the battery via a plug on the camera body. You must pull the battery each time and place it into the supplied drop-in charging module. No, this is not a huge deal, but just plugging the camera into a charger would be so convenient . And hey --even the $99 bargain point-n-shoots have a charging plug on the camera!!! This is just one of those things that *can't* have been that hard for them to include... (to be fair, I noticed that none of the other higher end MFT cameras had such a charging plug either; but I really can't imagine why!) The second thing I noticed is that the refresh rate for the screen (and the viewfinder) is perceptibly slow; If you pan the camera quickly you will see it "stutter". Again, not bad enough to be a problem, and there is a setting that will reduce the effect some; but the Panasonic cameras were superior in this regard (although they had other shortcomings which I decided were more significant to my buying decision). The last issue is with the grip; it is a small camera, smaller than either of the Panasonics I have mentioned, which is good --but with that comes some difficulty holding it --at least for someone with long fingers. What they left out was a good bulge on the right side that a large paw can get a grip on. With the zoom lens on, it can be difficult to hold steady. There are some fixes available. Olympus makes a grip extender accessory, with features including a second battery holder inside---but you will pay dearly for this... Luckily there is a FAR cheaper and perfectly good grip extender available. I purchased the FOTODIOX PRO grip extender for the OMD-EM5-II for about $29. No gadgets like a second battery, but it is well made and fits *perfectly* (and does not get in the way of the battery door!). I would strongly recommend this to anyone who buys this camera!

Lots of DSLR features, but much smaller and lighter camera. I have used it in the rain and snow and have no problems. I did get it on sale with the 14-150 pro weather seal lens for $700. with that combo it's pretty much a phone camera other than video is great with the 5 axis stabilization. Matched with a better lens this is a great camera. My problem is the lens. Camera has the settings and capability to do much better. Battery life is bad < 300 shots and video on one charge. Best used for a walking in day time shooting or lots of light but have extra battery, and don't worry about the weather such as water, sand, wind, dirt in general.

The features of the OM-D E-M5 Mark II are the thing that sold me on the camera. High-performance image stabilization in the body gives incredibly sharp pictures when hand-holding the camera. I like the fact that it is dust resistant, splash resistant and shock resistant. As I landscape photographer, I am out in all kinds of weather.

Excellent image quality. Amazingly customization options. Great for video as well as still pictures. Loved my OM-D E-M10. Love the M5 Mark 2 even more!

switched from an older Nikon DSLR and am very happy. easily handled, great features (articulated screen), solid feel, weatherproof. Does everything my old camera did and more. Only gripe might be that I haven't gotten used to the delay in activating the EVF. makes getting quick shots a bit trickier. somewhat steep learning curve but lots of rewards for the effort

This camera replaced an OM-D E-M10 Mark II that began having problems, possibly due to the weather beating it took here in the Caribbean. I loved my E-M10, but upgraded to the weather sealing of the E-M5. It is a better camera in a lot of ways beyond the weather sealing. Olympus provides more options and menus than I can retain in my head and will exhaust before it succumbs. You can do just about anything you want photographically with this camera, you just have to look through the menus to find it. It is lacking wifi connectivity, or I haven't found it yet. I don't think that a big deal. Good build quality and I have yet to take a bad picture that could not be attribute to me and not the camera.

This is a great camera. I am happy to have replaced my bulky DSLR with it. It has all the features needed, the only one to be added would be a built-in geotagging like other smaller cameras, not the wi-fi connection with a smartphone (not practical).

Makes difficult shots a lot easier with the ability of a DSLR but stealthier Love all aspects of this camera even video, which I don't shoot very much, seems exceptional

Love all the features. My first mirrorless camera. Sticking to olympus. My first camera was an olympus tough tg-1. Loved the quality of that built and the lense. So it was easy to choose another olympus camera. I paired it with a 12mm 2.0f lense. It's truly amazing. I'm a novice. But I do enjoy this camera in its manual settings very very much.

I really love the size and features of this olympus camera. They even included a bonus free flight. The choice of lens for this camera are very good.

Bought this for my daughter because of being smaller than the DSLR for her travels. She loves it.

This olympus is both durable and creates excellent photos!

This is my second Olympus micro 4/3s camera.I still have my old Olympus Pen E PL1. Both of these have a very classic look to them. The only concern is that it still has a way to go when it comes to be able to handle low light. Low light pics are grainy, even with the best lens. Day light images are better.
