Easy to install and set up for me and I don't normally attempt that but the instructions were easy to follow. Looks very nice and the sound is awesome! It also comes with a calibration microphone to place in the middle of room and it calibrates the speakers on the size and shape of the room. Very satisfied with this purchase. Sorry to the Geek Squad this time since I could do this one this time by myself.

The receiver is easy to set up and easy to use. I currently have it paired with some Polk R 200 and S10 speakers. It powers the speakers well and sounds good too.

I've been using my receiver for a week now and it's made a huge difference in my home theater setup the sound quality is powerful clear and immersive. Setup was straightforward and automatic speaker calibration help balance everything perfectly. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity are stable.

Bought this because i couldnt pass up the open box price. It may have been open box but it came looking brand new! No scratches or anything taking away from its look. Super simple to setup and adjust settings as needed. Everything is pretty straight forward if youve setup your own stereo system in your home. Tied with my JBL tower speakers, And acoustic audio center speaker it produces some really crisp sound.

For folks with a 5.1 system looking for an upgrade, or if you’re starting your sound system off from scratch. This receiver is the total package. I use this with Polk speakers, for the 5.1 and Sonance ceiling speakers for the Atmos overheads. The quality and clarity is amazing. The receiver itself gives you multiple options for your setup, and is very easy to install. Most streaming services offer Atmos Sound, as do video games. This unit breaks down sounds you never knew were there. It does take your standard 5.1 Dolby Digital, and converts it to a 7.1 Dolbly Digital Plus which is great for those tv shows or movies that don’t support Atmos. Overall, for the price, and simplicity it’s spot on! The only thing I recommend is using quality speakers and a subwoofer for better performance.

Really good price for a big name amp! The network connected ones were more expensive but I didn't see a benefit there except for wireless firmware updates which I consider a cyber threat and you can still do with a thumb drive. I love having Zones A and B which can patch in your patio speakers for in and outhouse surround sound. Big upgrade for me, but I had a modest older brand I replaced.

I don’t really know much about surroundsound. But when we bought a new TV, it was clear that we had to upgrade our 25+ year old receiver, as it was not working with any of the new TVs. We have the older version of this at our other house and it had been a fantastic piece of equipment so we decided to upgrade to the new one for our new house. It was super easy to set up with our new TV and I really love that you can actually connect it to the HDMI arc and set it up using the TV display. Connecting it to our hardwired Bose surround sound speakers was incredibly easy, and the audio quality that this transmits is perfect. We have it connected via optical cable and it works great!
The only issue that we have with this is, the TV does not sync with the remote. So, we have to keep both remotes out to operate tv/volume. I think it’s more the TVs problem than the receiver but I do wish that they would work together like our old system did.

I replaced my old onkyo as it last forever, this one is more easy to connect and runs much colder. It locks in controls on subwoofer. But I can't beat the price. Real happy with the purchase ,hope it last along time like the other Onkyo.

The Onkyo-TX-SR949 7.2 Channel A/V receiver I purchased is a nice receiver. The one thing I would highly recommend is that you replace the wire FM antenna with a old car like antenna as I did, with that the FM stations come in perfectly, other than that it's a great receiver.

I didn’t want a pricy receiver to listen only to FM radio and LP’s. This one seemed to fit the bill. The only issue I have with it is that it would not connect to my soundbar via bluetooth, so I ended up having to purchase separate speakers. Otherwise, we’re happy with it.

No matter what signal I feed into it, it outputs only as all channel stereo. No discrete center or surround channels. When I push the button on the remote, or front panel to switch out of all channel stereo mode. It returns a "not available" message. I read online the solution was to update the firmware. When attempting to update the firmware, it errors out and terminates. That's after it was a pain in the posterior just to find the firmware update online. Clicking many search results triggers a malicious website warning in my browser. If it wasn't past Best Buy's return window, I would take back this piece of junk in a heartbeat. As it now stands, I lit $400 on fire. And am stuck with a worthless piece of junk that might as well be a door stop. I cannot in good conscience dump it off on a thrift store or used audio store.
