The last 6 cases for my phones have been the Defender series, for SO many reasons. I test and review many cases and other tech/devices, and I have to say hands down that these cases are the TOUGHEST, most DURABLE, and STILL the most comfortable cases I've ever used. I literally recommend them to everyone vigorously. There are MANY other cases that APPEAR or CLAIM to work just the same, with the dual layer protection and all, but my Defender cases are never taken off or even damaged, as the construction is so thought out. I could go on, but you get the picture. Built in screen protection, padding inside inner hard shell, hard shell CLIPS AND LOCKS together, then the outer shock protection layer even covers it all AND clips around the previous layers clips, ENSURING that it will NEVER fall out of the case. On top of that, it comes with a very protective hard shell holster with a strong but compact clip (even rotates to wear it any way on belt, etc.), but it also can hold the phone so that it protects the entire front of the screen OR the back, where the camera or the screen is now ULTIMATELY protected. I will be ano Ottorbox customer for life. HOPE THIS HELPS!

This otter box for my Samsung Galaxy S5 has the perfect amount of protection for everyday work use. It come with a belt clip which is usually a high cost add on accessory.

I have previously used Otter Box cases and holsters and find them to be superior to other products!! Very dependable protection!!

While Commuter series is considered to be their “slimmer” version, Defender series adds some noticeable bulk with a full wrap around protection, but it’s too bad. Either way, it’s a price to pay for an ultimate protection – and that’s exactly what you are going to get! Starting with an inner interlocking PC shell you have a built-in screen protector and also another thin layer of shock absorbent material inside of that shell. A built-in screen protector is film based and has a cutout for home button. The assembly of inner plastic case was a huge improvement over the previous Defender cases where tabs are a lot easier now to interlock and pull apart. On top of that, you have another silicone shock absorption layer placed over the PC shell. That piece adds another layer of shock protection and also significantly improves a grip. Also, you don’t have to worry anymore about your phone sliding off the surface when placed face up. Of course, facing down you also have a considerable amount of front lip to keep it off the surface. Just keep in mind this is just a film screen protector where any direct impact will not protect your display. For that you will need a tempered glass protector, but with Defender you can only use a thin tempered glass to fit inside of the inner shell. Just like with a Commuter, Defender has micro usb and headphone ports covered and protected from any dirt and dust. Also, volume and power buttons are covered and have a nice tactile response when pressed. The rest of the ports have precise cutouts and perfect alignment. The only issue which still remains is micro-usb port opening being limited by plastic guards of the inner shell that allow only use of an average or narrow charging connectors. It’s probably not going to be an issue for majority, but I do have to acknowledge that some micro-usb cables with a larger connector might not fit. Last but not least, Otterbox also comes with a belt-clip holster which allows you to carry your Defender case attached to the belt. Belt-clip holster will come especially handy when you spend a lot of time outdoors. The Defender case fits inside of the holster both face in and face out. Typically for extra protection you would want to keep it face in, but there is also an advantage to place it face out since a belt clip locks in open position and doubles as a kickstand to place your S6 in landscape orientation to watch a movie or to play a video, etc.

Great protection but on the bulky side. I would recommend this product to a friend but I would like for them to come out with a slimmer design. It has the built-in screen protector which I am not a huge fan of but it does protect as advertised.

Otterbox Defender just can't be beat. My daughter called me once to tell me that she'd left her phone on top of the car and drove off and it went flying - she was calling me on the phone that flew off the car, because the Otterbox protected it even from coming off the roof at 45 miles an hour. They aren't gorgeous - it sure would be great if Otterbox would make a bunch of cool colors and patterns. But I just bought the basic black Defender cover for a Galaxy S7 for only $25, so it's hard to complain. Great price on a really great product.

Great case for the price. Easy to setup on my phone. Work in construction and the case protects the phone perfectly.

I bought this to protect my brand new Galaxy s7. It is a rugged case that will do just that. I particularly like that the back has enough grip to prevent the phone from sliding when on an slope (useful if you want to watch a video) The case also comes with a detachable belt clip and plastic screen protector. Unfortunately there are 3 glaring issues with the case. 1) The screen protector is slightly smaller then the screen and it is hard to get to the corners of the screen when trying to drag and drop or access the settings from the quick panel. It also shows wear after only a few weeks and is difficult to clean. 2) The ports for charging and headphones have a plastic flap that will put pressure on the cord at an angle that could dislodge or hurt the device or input. I could see this hurting the phones ability to charge by loosening the jack over time. 3) The case adds an awkward amount of bulk and weight to the phone which not only affects the aesthetics but also the ease of putting it in your pocket. The phone case certainly protects the phone well and that is it's main purpose so I give it an Average score.

The case works very well protecting the phone. Easy to install. Fits the hand nicely.

The case fits and protects very well. My only complaint is the clear plastic overlay. It fits loosely, which makes it difficult to text, etc. It should have been omitted altogether. This appears to be a common complaint. I've seen videos demonstrating removal of the clear plastic screen, which I plan to do since I have a glass cover on the screen. Everything else is excellent. I plan to keep using Otterbox cases.

This case is beyond durable to help protect your phone in any situation. It's lightweight but A little bulkier than the other less durable options. The best part is the built in screen protector so no bubbles on your screen. You do have to push a little harder however but it's worth it for me.

When I upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy S4 to an S7, I didn't let it leave my house without protecting it with a new case. I had a LifeProof on my last phone, but I liked the rubbery all-around grip material that my son's Otter Box Defender case provided. I was thinking about the Otter Box Commuter, but went with the more protective Defender after reading reviews. Either would probably protect against drops, but having already dropped my new phone, I feel that "more" is better than "should have". Got pink for a girly look. Like the feel of the case, too. Price matching made it an easy decision to buy at Best Buy.

I love this and all other otterbox products I have purchased. My phone has been dropped several times due to small children and has yet to be broken-knock on wood. Easy to put on and take off if needed to be cleaned.

The Otterbox is very sturdy and fits my phone beautifully. I feel that my phone will be safe wearing my Otterbox. Don't buy another brand.. buy this if you want the best protection for your phone.

I don’t think you can beat Otterbox Defender cases for protection. They’re too bulky for some (my wife), but they really protect the phone from some nasty stuff, like being dropped in mud!

I had been searching for a case for my Galaxy S7 phone. I had found the phone sometimes felt slick & would easily slip in my hand. I wanted a case that would give me a good grip on the phone & would protect it. While searching the web I came across this case about 1/2 off on Best Buy's web site. I checked it out on the Otterbox web site & was impressed with what I saw, so I immediately ordered it for pick up in the store. I received notification that it was available at the store a day before it was scheduled to be, so I was really happy about that. I got the case home & immediately got it on my phone. This was made easy by watching the video on the Otterbox web site. I was VERY happy with the feel of the case. The rubberized side and back made for a sure grip of the phone. I like the fact that the holster is designed to hold the phone with the phone facing either way. The clip on the holster can be locked into a position allowing it to be used as a kick stand to hold the phone in a good viewing position when placed on a flat surface. I experienced a couple of instances where I failed to get the phone properly locked into the holster. The first time this occurred the phone fell to the ground as I was getting out of my car. The case made a satisfying "thunk" sound as the phone hit the asphalt & I could immediately tell the phone was unharmed. The case protected the phone as advertised. In fact there wasn't even a mark on the case. I've had the case for a month & I am VERY happy with it. It makes the phone slightly bulkier, but the great grip & protection is well worth it.

The case is really tough not as thick as you would think it is. It does a great job of protecting the phone especially if you are in a tough under the environment. And it's surprisingly easy to take off and put back on at a moment's notice.

This case has protected my galaxy from numerous drops and toddler throws. But today it survived being mowed (thru blades) and being run over by the mower. Not a scratch on my phone. The case took all the damage and did it's job. I will never use any other kind of protecting case for my electronics. Pictures attached are of my un-scratched phone, the crack case screen, chunk out of the orange side and chewed outer shell.

Bought this for my wife as this is her first smartphone. She managed to bust my 5c within a week of buying it, so an Otter box was our only choice. Thus far she seems very happy with the case, loves the color, and the phone has remained unscathed despite her best efforts. My only concern was the normal otterbox bulk that the case adds to the phone, but since it is in a purse not a pocket, it's a non-issue.
